The girl sitting in front of him was staring at him with stardust in her eyes. Her lower lip was slightly parted and she wore the expression of a helpless soul entranced by a witch.

“Hello…?”

She didn’t budge.

Feeling frustration crawling like fire ants up his back, he bent down slightly and waved impatiently in her face.

The girl jolted, and shrank back. A peachy blush bloomed over her cheeks, visible even through the layer of makeup on her skin. Still without a word, she batted her lashes innocently and smiled.

“...Did you listen to a word I said?”

A giggle.

The boy’s face remained politely strained, but his insides crumbled in exasperation and defeat. That was fifty minutes down the drain. He’d been criticized by his tutorees before, for teaching topics too difficult or lacking jokes to spice up the lesson. The students were never too rude, but their parents certainly gave him an earful.

Somehow, this felt much worse than his usual experiences.
