To tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.
That was the blessing and curse he was born with.
Not only did this man always tell the truth, he always told facts. Since the discovery of this power, he has been able to verify the credibility of countless controversies, from modern science to fundamental religions to romantic emotions. The world back then surged with tremendous excitement; family, friends, acquaintances, the government… the whole world was at his feet. He was an oracle: simply ask, and one would receive the true answer.

The most often asked subject was about secrets, a forbidden knowledge that any asker would never know. He always answered them honestly and sincerely, no matter if he broke trusts or unveiled dark mysteries.
But nobody asked. At least, not anymore.
For every fact he revealed, there was always some sort of fear or disappointment in the asker’s eyes. After obtaining the answer they were either afraid of their future decisions or disliked their fate and outcome.
Pretty soon, the world avoided him like the plague.
Perhaps it was the human desire to explore the unknown, or the pursuit of a beautiful lie rather than the ugly truth.
