Gumusservi

Gumusservi (noun): moonlight shining on water

Fwoosh.

A few breaths later-

Splash!

Twirling in joy, he relished in the familiar sound of another secret sinking beneath the moon-dappled waters. He and the ocean were soulmates. In every one of these evening exchanges, he’d share the remnants of a perfect crime, and the sea would whisper the soul’s last memories back to him.

Tonight, he once again lived through the murder.

The middle-aged man was cowering in the black alleyway, his briefcase held up to his chest in a useless defense. His legs were already red with blood and he was crying. So ugly. So much snot. Such a baby. He cried for mercy, he cried for compassion, but he didn’t cry for his family at home. When he got drunk and beat his wife, he was certainly not crying back then, either.

Naturally, he put the pitiful man out of his misery.

Humming merrily with the ocean waves, he congratulated himself on another job well done. It felt fantastic to rid the world of those who do not deserve to live.
