Besiege (noun): to overwhelm; to surround and attack
There had to be at least 20 ducklings.
Like morning sunlight spilling over mountaintops, the horde of tiny yellow creatures descended from the grassy hill, quacking and squawking to their heart’s content as they charged into the new day.
A young girl in a white dress awaited them at the bottom, a basket of food clutched under her arm. The billowing fabric fluttered behind her, as if the wind had personally come to bless her angel wings.

As soon as the first webbed feet tapped into her radius, she reached into her basket and flung a beautiful spread of the duckling’s breakfast into the air. The little pellets scattered into the mass of soft fuzz, and every energetic ball dove to catch their fill.
Competition was intense. However, the little girl had no worries. With a laugh as clear as the endless blue sky, she tossed more and more handfuls of feed into the bustling crowd.
Surrounded by the adorable army, she blissfully admired the beauty of life residing in every one of the duckling’s souls.
