40 Km of Combined Legionnaires Force First Line Main Camp, Aeterna Region, 15 April 2141 / 15 Aprilis 1841, 09:00 am
Commander Erich Keitel, Commander of the Black Shadow First Combined Panzer and Cavalry Unit, became the leader during the attack on the Aeterna Region. His unit consisted of eight Panzerkampfwagen Jaguar I, four Panzerkampfwagen Jaguar II, and one hundred trucks of black shadow units advanced and passed the Aeterna and Cosorto Region border. Alongside them was the slavery faction army, with their five hundred cavalry and magic musket from Imperio Estelar.
As per the order of Mr. 03, when Thomsen and his air wingmen conducted an air raid bombing, Commander Keitel launched a blitz attack with panzer, motorized infantry, and cavalry to attack the legionnaires. The movement is fastened to surprise the legionnaires in the Aeterna Region. The cavalry unit utilized haste and power magic to improve horses' speed and stamina to gallop in longer ranges and extended periods. Because the range from Noplos City to Aeterna City is 450 km, and the range to the Legionnaire's main camp is 200 km, they need to move at a speed of at least 20 km/h to arrive at then 40 km before the Legionnaire's main camp in 8 hours. After resting for several hours, they will continue the advance and prepare to battle with the legionnaires in their main camp during the Wyvern recon mission.
Based on Commander Pompius of the wyvern unit, legionnaires have three modern SPAAGs resembling Weltenkraft Reich current SPAAG Flakpanzer Ostwind, two anti-aircraft guns resemble Weltenkraft Reich 37 mm Flak, two panzers resemble Weltenkraft Reich Panzerkampfwagen Nebelparder, four IFV resemble Weltenkraft Reich Sonderkraftfahrzeug Honigdachs and infantry weapons remble of Weltenkraft Reich 30 years ago.
"Hans, what do you think about the enemy weapons? They have weapons that resemble our weapons." Commander Keitel asked Hans, his aide.
"Based on Commander Pompius's information, the enemy has the modern weapons of a superpower nation. These SPAAGs resemble our Flakpanzer Otswind, and this anti-air gun resembles our 37 mm flak gun. I am unsurprised that these weapons annihilated Commander Pompius's massive wyvern units. Also, these panzers and IFVs resemble our Panzerkampfwagen Nebelparder and Sonderkraftfahrzeug Honigdachs. Fortunately, we brought Jaguar I and Jaguar II, which could penetrate Nebelparder and withstand its kanone. However, there is a difference between this panzer and our Nebelparder, and we assume that this panzer cannon is larger than Nebelparder 75 mm kwk. We assume it resembles an 88 mm Jaguar or maybe 128 mm Jaguar II. This IFV also has a cannon different from Honigdachs, so I cannot predict its caliber, maybe 20 mm or more. Infantry weapons are similar to our weapons from 30 years ago. We could defeat them with our current power, Herr." Hans comments after analyzing the Legionnaire's vehicle and weapons.
"I see. Thank you, Hans. My prediction is similar to you, Hans. Unfortunately, We cannot communicate with Commander Thomsen about the progress of the air raid bombing. Also, we cannot utilize air support before destroying enemy anti-air guns. This mission is risky, and we cannot advance recklessly. Before we achieved air superiority, our air support could not help us, and enemy air forces could attack us." Commander Keitel did not know that the Legionnaire's air forces had already annihilated Thomsen airwing last night.
"Ja, Herr. After we crossed the Aeterna Region border, our communication suffered a problem. We cannot communicate with the command center in Noplos City. Could it be the enemy jamming our communication?" Hans reported that after they crossed the Aeterna Region, their communication failed, and they could not communicate with the command center in Noplos City.
"It is possible that the enemy is jamming our communication, or because the Fortisregnum Empire is a backward nation and geometric conditions influence it, and the electronic signal is not good here." Commander Keitel assumes that the error of communication devices is because of geometric condition influence or enemy jamming.
Keitel Combined Unit suffered a communication error because United Terran sent multiple powerful frequencies that replaced the original communication frequency and made a noise during communication. Also, the hill and forest terrain between the Aeterna and Noplos Region made communication more difficult because of the influence of geometry.
Commander Keitel's Black Shadow Combined Panzer and Cavalry Unit pressed forward with determination despite their challenges. The terrain between the Aeterna and Noplos Regions was rugged, with dense forests and rolling hills that made communication and navigation difficult. The unit had to rely on pre-planned signals and manual communication methods to coordinate their movements.
As they approached the 40 km mark before the Legionnaire's main camp, the unit took a short break to rest and prepare for the upcoming battle. The cavalry unit, enhanced by magic, ensured that their horses were ready for the next leg of the journey. The panzer and motorized infantry units checked their equipment and weapons, knowing that the success of their blitz attack depended on their readiness and coordination.
"We must be prepared for a swift and decisive strike. We aim to destroy the enemy's anti-aircraft defenses and secure a foothold within their camp. Once we achieve this, we can call in air support and push the advantage. However, because of the interference of geometry, even if we destroy enemy anti-air guns, there is the possibility that we still cannot call air support. Keep in mind that we fight without air support." Commander Keitel gathered his key officers, including Hans, for a final briefing to destroy enemy vital weapons such as anti-air guns.
" The enemy's SPAAGs and anti-aircraft guns are our primary targets. We need to neutralize them quickly to ensure our air superiority." Commander Keitel glanced at the map before them and continued with the explanation.
"Captain Alejandro, your unit will flank the enemy from the east, using the forest cover to approach their positions. Use your magic-enhanced speed to strike fast and disrupt their defenses. However, remember that the enemy utilizes modern weapons. You cannot strike them recklessly. Wait until the panzer spearhead unit destroys and disintegrates the enemy." Keitel orders the cavalry commander, Captain Alejandro, to carefully advance and wait until the enemy retreats and disarray.
"Understood, Señor Commander. We will wait until the panzer unit destroys the enemy and puts the enemy into disarray. Then, we can move swiftly and strike with precision for the disarray enemy." Captain Alejandro saluted sharply.
"Captain Vogel, your panzer units will lead the frontal assault. Coordinate with the motorized infantry to provide covering fire and support. Our Jaguars must first target the enemy's panzers and IFVs, taking them out before they can respond. They will become a spearhead to break through the enemy's defense. Coordination is the key. Now prepare your unit." Commander Keitel addressed the panzer commander, Captain Vogel, and ordered him to coordinate and prepare to break through enemy defense with the panzer unit.
"Jawohl, Herr Commander," Vogel replied, already planning to conduct a breakthrough mission with Panzer Jaguar I and II.
Unknown to them, the SR-01, a recon stealth drone that stood by at the border during the first battle, detected their movement. The SR-01 sent the real-time data to the defense command center in Aeterna City.
Defense Command Center Facilities, Aeterna City, 15 April 2141 / 15 Aprilis 1841, 09:30 am
Lieutenant Nesta, a SAM operator and communication officer with the drone operator, received the data about the enemy's advance. Then, he forwarded the information to Colonel Ermey, who was already present in the Command Center. Colonel Ermey is present to analyze the result of last night's aerial battle between Heraclius and his wingmen against the Black Shadow air raid bombing unit while Lieutenant Colonel Maldini rests.
"Colonel Ermey, the drone operator, already sent us the information about the enemy advance to the first line of defense." Lieutenant Nesta report
"Show the data in the screen monitor. Also, did Litorius and his combined Legionnaire's force (CLF) unit leave some resources in the first line of defense?" Colonel Ermey ordered Lieutenant Nesta to show data on the screen monitor and asked him about the possibility of resources falling to the enemy.
"Negative, Sir. The first line of defense is only an empty plain field previously used to intercept and annihilate the enemy wyvern unit. Commander Litorius and the CLF unit have returned to the second line of defense and await further orders. Unlike the first line of defense, the second line is in a proper defense location near Onogni, a small town that came to support the legionnaires. The local people are the loyalists of Emperor Aurelius, so they happily give support and resources to the legionnaires." Lieutenant Nesta responds.
"I see. What is the range between the first and second lines of defense? What is the range from Aeterna City to the second line of defense? Also, the enemy's current position is on the second line of defense." Colonel Ermey asked Nesta about the range from Aeterna City and the first line of defense to the second line of defense.
"The range between the first and second line of defense is 100 km, Sir, and the range from Aeterna City to the second line of defense is 150 km. The enemy is 140 km from the second line of defense." Lieutenant Nesta answered about the range between lines of defense from Aeterna City and the enemy's position.
"I see. How is the strength of the enemy? Scanning it with the AI to know the enemy composition exactly." Colonel Ermey orders Lieutenant Nesta about the enemy's power. After several minutes of scanning and searching for the enemy information, Nesta reports the result.
"Based on the AI scanning, the enemy has eight panzers resembling E-50 Standardpanzer, four panzers resembling E-75 Standardpanzer, one hundred trucks, and five hundred cavalries. The enemy size of combined battalion level." Nesta reports the scanning result.
"E-50 and E-75? What is that tank?" Colonel Ermey was confused after hearing the unknown name of the tank name.
"E-50 and E-75 are paper tanks designed by Germans during World War II, Sir. E-50 is a panzer designed to replace the Panther medium tank, while the E-75 is to replace the Tiger II heavy tank. They utilize 88 mm KWK 43 L/71 cannon and have thicker and more sloped armor than their predecessors. Some sources state that the E-75 utilizes a 105 mm cannon." Nesta responds about E-50 and E-75 tanks.
"I see. How about the possibility of Legionnaire's use of the Panther II tank against this tank? I did not have better knowledge about German tanks. During the Legionnaire's training, I let Colonel Rommel train the legionnaires about armored and vehicle warfare. I think 105 mm cannon of enemy tanks could threaten legionnaires ground unit." Colonel Ermey asked again.
"Rest assured, Colonel. Panther II was designed based on Leopard 2A7, a main battle tank of the early 21st century. Its cannon utilizes a 130 mm smoothbore cannon, and the armor utilizes advanced nano reactive armor and other upgraded versions of Leopard 2A7. Only the design resembles the paper tank of WWII German Panther II. I do not know why the government did not send standard Leopard 2A7 to the Fortisregnum Empire. Maybe they want to trick the superpower and hyperpower nations into that outdated tank with modern power and capability." Lieutenant Nesta explained about the specifications of Panther II.
"I see. Thank you for your explanation, Lieutenant. So, a battalion-level attack on us. This opportunity is good training for Maximus and his legionnaires in the actual battle with modern weapons. Lieutenant Inzaghi, you could inform Maximus and his unit to be ready and send them to the second line of defense. We will strengthen defense in the second line of defense and welcome them. Also, tell the drone operator to launch the MQ-9 Reaper to provide air strike to the enemy and support for Maximus and his legionnaires." Colonel Ermey order Lieutenant Inzaghi and Lieutenant Nesta.
"Yes, Sir. Inform Commander Maximus to be ready and send them to the second line of defense." Lieutenant Inzaghi responds after he hears Colonel Ermey and Lieutenant Nesta discussing the situation.
"Yes, Sir. Inform drone operator to launch the MQ-9 Reaper to conduct air strike against the enemy." Lieutenant Nesta responds.
Lieutenant Inzaghi informs Maximus and the rest of his legionnaires in Aeterna City to advance to the second line of defense to join Litorius and his CLF.
"This is the Defense Command Center. Colonel Ermey ordered Commander Maximus and the rest of the legionnaire's unit to advance to the second line of defense. I will send the coordinate to your command device. Over." Lieutenant Inzaghi informs Maximus.
"This is Legionnaires High Command. Affirmative. We will prepare for three hours and advance to the second line of defense. Did Colonel Ermey specify how many vehicles and weapons would bring to the second line of defense? Over." Maximus asks Lieutenant Inzaghi about the specified weapons, equipment, and vehicles.
"Colonel Ermey tells you to bring all modern weapons and equipment. He said that this would become the training for the legionnaires in actual combat with modern weapons and vehicles. Over." Lieutenant Inzaghi responds.
"Affirmative. Preparing the weapons and vehicles in three hours. I am out." Maximus finished the communication and was ready to prepare the weapons and vehicles.
Lieutenant Nesta then orders the drone operator to launch the MQ-9 Reaper.
"Strike Drone Alpha, This is Defense Command Center. You are clear to launch. Repeat: You are clear to launch. Over." Lieutenant Nesta orders the drone operator to launch the MQ-9 Reaper.
"This is Strike Drone Alpha. The MQ-9 Reaper is ready to launch. Requesting the target coordinate. Over." The drone operator responds.
"I already sent the coordinates to your data devices. The runway is clear, and you have permission to launch it. Over." Lieutenant Nesta informs.
"Thank you, Command Center. The MQ-9 Reaper is launch." The drone operator responded while controlling the MQ-9 Reaper launch from the runway in the military airport in Aeterna City.
The MQ-9 Reaper flew to the enemy coordinate and was ready to give an airstrike. This airstrike will become the first counterattack of Emperor Aurelius's army to the slavery faction ground unit.
40 Km of Combined Legionnaires Force First Line Main Camp, Aeterna Region, 15 April 2141 / 15 Aprilis 1841, 10:47 am
One MQ-9 Reaper flew to conduct an airstrike on Commander Keitel's unit on the ground. The MQ-9 Reaper carries 3 GBU-54 Laser JDAM and 3 AGM-114 Hellfire Missiles.
The MQ-9 Reaper soared high above the clouds, invisible to the naked eye and nearly silent at its cruising altitude. Its mission was clear: disrupt the advance of Commander Keitel's forces before they could launch a full-scale assault on the Legionnaire's second line of defense.
On the ground, Commander Keitel's units were diligently preparing for their next move. The panzers were lined up in formation, their crews running final checks on their systems. The motorized infantry and cavalry units were gathered around their respective commanders, receiving last-minute instructions and motivational speeches.
Commander Keitel stood near his command vehicle, a sleek, armored truck with advanced communication and surveillance equipment. His aide, Hans, approached with a concerned look on his face. Fortunately, one of his scout units with divine eye and sense detects something approaching them. He assumes the enemy aircraft is approaching them for a recon mission.
"Herr Commander, I have just received an update from our scouts. They report sightings of what appears to be a single aircraft flying high-altitude in the area," Hans reported.
"Aircraft? What type? Are they armed?" Commander Keitel furrowed his brow and asked about the type of the incoming aircraft.
"Our scouts could not identify the exact type, but given the enemy's known capabilities, we assume they are conducting a recon mission. However, we also should assume they are armed and capable of airstrikes. We should consider taking immediate action to mitigate this threat," Hans advised.
"Signal all units to remain vigilant and prepare for possible air strikes. Hans, are our anti-aircraft guns ready to engage any hostile aircraft?" Keitel nodded, ordered Hans to inform all units to be vigilant, and asked Hans about the anti-aircraft gun.
"We only have portable anti-air missiles from the People's Republic of Uroslav (PRU), Herr. However, we only have five guns and twenty-five homing missiles." Hans responds.
"That is enough, and we cannot let the enemy know about our location. Our mission is based on a surprise attack and breaking through the enemy's defense while the enemy is not ready." Commander Keitel informed us about the vital elements during the blitzkrieg.
As the order was relayed, the troops moved quickly to comply. Five people already carrying Strela-90 MANPADS, the anti-aircraft guns from the PRU, were positioned and readied, scanning the skies for signs of the incoming threat.
High above, the MQ-9 Reaper's drone operator, sitting in a control room more than a hundred kilometres away, received the final confirmation from the command centre.
"Strike Drone Alpha, you are clear about engaging the targets. Proceed with the mission. Be careful with the potential of enemy anti-air guns. Over." Lieutenant Nesta informs the drone operator to engage the enemy.
"Affirmative. I am scanning the target. Retrieve the data to the Command Center. Over." The drone operator starts to scan the enemy's target.
"Target enemy tank first to reduce enemy firepower and give them a welcoming gift." Colonel Ermer orders Lieutenant Nesta.
"Strike Drone Alpha, target the panzer first. Over." Lieutenant Nesta forwarded Colonel Ermey's order to the drone operator.
"Affirmative. Targeting the enemy tank." The drone operator responds.
The drone operator acknowledged the command and began the targeting process. Then, the drone operator set the Reaper's advanced sensors and targeting systems locked onto the most valuable targets within Keitel's formation. The priority was neutralizing the panzers, which posed the greatest threat to the Legionnaires' defensive positions.
"Target acquired. Preparing to launch GBU-54 Laser JDAM and launching GBU-54 Laser JDAM." the drone operator murmured, his fingers dancing over the control panel to prepare the launching bombs. Several seconds later, he pushed the button to release the GBU-54 Laser JDAM.
On the ground, an eerie silence hung in the air as the soldiers awaited the inevitable. The anti-aircraft crews scanned the skies with a sense of urgency, knowing that their survival depended on their ability to detect and shoot down the unknown aircraft before it could detect their position or, in the worst case, release its deadly payload to attack them.
Suddenly, a faint whistle grew louder, followed by the ear-piercing shriek of the incoming bombs. The ground shook violently as the first GBU-54 Laser JDAM directly struck its target, a Panzerkampfwagen Jaguar I, which erupted in a massive explosion and fireball. Shrapnel and debris flew in all directions, causing chaos and confusion among the ranks.

"Incoming! Take cover!" shouted Hans, diving behind a nearby vehicle as the second bomb hit, taking out another Panzerkampfwagen Jaguar I and several trucks.
Commander Keitel remained composed amidst the chaos, quickly assessing the situation. "Hans, order the remaining panzers to disperse and take evasive action. Anti-aircraft units, focus fire on that drone and bring it down!" Commander Keitel orders the anti-aircraft crews to shoot down the MQ-9 Reaper.
The anti-aircraft crew tried to aim and target the MQ-9 Reaper with their Strela-90 Manpads, but they could not lock on the MQ-9 Reaper. They could not target the MQ-9 Reaper because it flew at medium altitude at 11,000 meters, above the maximum altitude of Strela-90 MANPADS at 4,000 meters.
The AI scan device reports to the drone operator about the enemy man-portable air-defense system (MANPADS) and advises the operator to control the drone at medium to high altitudes above the enemy's maximum altitudes. The MQ-9 Reaper drone operator switched tactics and asked the AI to scan the enemy anti-aircraft crew position. After the AI informs the enemy anti-aircraft crew's location, he launches the last GBU-54 Laser JDAM.
Fortunately, the anti-aircraft crews are located in the radius area of the GBU-54 maximum explosion. Then, the GBU-54 Laser JDAM targeted and killed all the anti-aicraft crews and also destroyed all the Strela-90 MANPADS.
After successfully eliminating enemy anti-aircraft crews, the drone operator preparing to launch the AGM-114 Hellfire Missiles. The drone operator selected a cluster of trucks and infantry as the next target, aiming to damage the enemy's mobility and manpower.

"This is your next welcoming gift. Hellfire away." The drone operator intoned while launching the AGM-114 Hellfire missile to the enemy. "Swoosh" become the sound of death from the Reaper as the welcoming gift for the enemy.
Moments later, the ground erupted again as the missile found its marks. Vehicles were torn apart, and soldiers were thrown to the ground by the blasts.
Unfortunately for the Keitel panzer unit, the AGM-114 Hellfire missiles also destroyed another Panzerkampfwagen Jaguar I. Even Panzerkampfwagen Jaguar II, with more thick and sloped armor, could not withstand the damage from Hellfire missiles.
As the smoke cleared from the latest barrage, Commander Keitel quickly regrouped his forces, barking orders to maintain some semblance of order amidst the chaos.
"Hans, get the wounded to the medics immediately! All other units fall back to secondary positions and prepare for counterattacks. We need to regroup and retaliate before they can strike again!" Keitel's voice was authoritative, cutting through the pandemonium.
Hans, ever efficient, relayed the orders and helped organize the withdrawal. The remaining panzers and infantry moved swiftly, their training evident as they precisely executed Keitel's commands. Meanwhile, the drone operator, monitoring the situation from afar, noted the enemy's movements.
"Strike Drone Alpha, targets are repositioning. Scan for high-value targets and prepare for another strike," came the directive from Lieutenant Nesta.
"Roger that. Scanning for new targets," the drone operator responded, his eyes focused on the feed from the Reaper's cameras.
Then, he launches the last AGM-114 Hellfire missiles to destroy another Panzerkampfwagen Jaguar I and II. The AGM-114 Hellfire successfully targeted and destroyed another Jaguar I and Jaguar II. After he launched all the bombs and missiles, he reported the damage to the command center.
"Command Center, this is Strike Drone Alpha. Successfully destroyed several enemy tanks and trucks and eliminated enemy anti-aircraft guns. Over." The drone operator reports to the Command Center.
"Good Job. Return to base and wait for further orders." Colonel Ermey responds and lets Lieutenant Nesta forward the message to the drone operator.
"Excellent job, Strike Drone Alpha. Return to base and wait for further order." Lieutenant Nesta informs the drone operator.
"Affirmative. Return to base." The drone operator then controlled the MQ-9 Reaper and flew back to the base.
This airstrike became the first 'welcoming gift' from Emperor Aurelius to the slavery faction ground army.
40 Km of Combined Legionnaires Force First Line Main Camp, Aeterna Region, 15 April 2141 / 15 Aprilis 1841, 11:00 am
Commander Keitel and Hans checked their troop's conditions after the airstrike from the MQ-9 Reaper. Commander Keitel and Hans moved quickly through the smoke and debris, assessing the damage and reassuring their troops. The airstrike had been devastating, but their resolve remained unbroken.
"Hans, damage report." Commander Keitel asked Hans about the damage caused by the airstrike from the MQ-9 Reaper.
"Report. We lost more than thirty panzer crews, ten anti-aircraft crews, three Panzerkampfwagen Jaguar I destroyed beyond repair, one Panzerkampfwagen Jaguar II destroyed beyond repair, each Panzerkampfwagen Jaguar I and II moderate damage, twenty trucks destroyed beyond repair, ten trucks moderate damage, all MANPADS destroyed, and more than ten cavalry crews." Hans reported the damage to Commander Keitel's unit.
"Damn. We lost our valuable Panzerkampfwagen Jaguar I and II. Even we lost all of the anti-aircraft missiles. We are vulnerable to the subsequent enemy airstrike again. If the enemy aircraft is capable of attacking us, there is a possibility that Thomsen and his squadrons failed during the air raid bombing mission. Hans checked everything we could again, but we could not retreat now. We will advance with the remaining force." Commander Keitel order to Hans.
"Jawohl, Herr." Hans responds.
He knows he cannot return to the Noplos City again because his and Black Shadow's names will smudge if he retreats. If he continues the advance, the enemy already knows his attack. However, there is still a chance for them to attack the enemy's weakness.
"We need to move fast, Hans. Gather the engineers and get those damaged panzers operational if possible. The rest of the units must be ready for a counterattack. We cannot let them gain the upper hand," Commander Keitel instructed, his voice firm.
Hans nodded and immediately began organizing the engineers and medics. The scene was chaotic, but the soldiers' training kicked in as they worked efficiently to salvage what they could.
"Commander, the engineers will try to repair the panzers and trucks. However, we cannot hope to repair them in the field. The worst case is we cannot operate the damaged panzers and trucks." Hans report.
"We expected casualties, Hans. Our focus now is on regrouping and launching a counteroffensive. Make sure the communication lines are secure. We need to stay in contact with all units." Keitel responds while clenching his jaw.
Hans relayed the orders, and soon, the camp was a hive of activity. Engineers worked frantically to repair the damaged vehicles while medics tended to the wounded. The soldiers who could still fight prepared for the next phase of the battle.
"We will hit them where it hurts. We need to strike quickly and decisively before they can regroup and send another wave. Position the motorized infantry to help the panzers and prepare the cavalry for a flanking maneuver. We will use the remaining panzers to spearhead our assault. Several engineers will stay to repair the damaged panzers and trucks. If you finish the repair, return to the frontline." Commander Keitel turned to his remaining soldiers and tried to boost the morale of the dropping soldiers so they could continue the advance.
The commanders nodded, understanding the urgency. The motorized infantry units were positioned strategically, and the cavalry mounted their horses, ready for the command to charge. The panzers, though fewer in number, formed up for the assault.
Keitel took a moment to gather his thoughts. The enemy's technological advantage was evident, but he believed in his soldiers' bravery and skills. Then, he and his unit start to attack the first line of defense based on Commander Pompius's information. Fortunately, the field is empty because Commander Litorius and Combined Legionnaires Force (CLF) have already returned to the second line of defense.
Commander Keitel then orders his troops to rest in the empty field before marching tomorrow. He hoped the enemy would not send another airstrike to annihilate them. Fortunately, there is no other airstrike again because Colonel Ermey wants Commander Keitel and his army to become the training target for Maximus and his legionnaires in the actual battle.
Defense Command Center Facilities, Aeterna City, 15 April 2141 / 15 Aprilis 1841, 00:30 pm
Colonel Ermey, Lieutenant Colonel Maldini, Lieutenant Nesta, and Lieutenant Inzaghi reviewed the drone footage at the command center.
"The enemy is regrouping and has arrived at the first line of defense. They are preparing themselves to repair the damaged vehicles. Should we send another airstrike, Sir?" Nesta reported that the SR-01 stealth recon drone was already monitoring Commander Keitel's unit's conditions, and he asked for another airstrike with the next MQ-9 Reaper.
"They are resilient, but we need to stay one step ahead. Keep the drone for reconnaissance. We need to keep them under constant pressure. No, let them rest. The previous attack was only a welcoming gift from us. Let Maximus and his legionnaires finish them off." Colonel Ermey responded coldly.
"Roger that, Colonel," Nesta replied, relaying the orders for Recon Drone Alpha to stay monitoring the enemy movement.
The First Line of Defense, Aeterna Region, 15 April 2141 / 15 Aprilis 1841, 08:00 pm
The engineers repaired and operationalized two damaged panzers at Commander Keitel's unit camp. The soldiers cheered as the engines roared back to life, lifting Keitel's spirits. However, the panzers have some problems because previous airstrikes from AGM-114 Hellfire missiles destroyed some components, such as the panzer optical in the turret, the turret, the cannon barrel, and the tracks.
Because the damaged panzer optical cannot be partially repaired, the panzer's target acquisition and engagement capability is reduced. This condition also reduced the situational awareness of the panzer crews. With partially functioning optics, the crew may need to rely on secondary systems or manual methods for tasks usually handled by the optical systems. This condition can increase their workload, stress, and potential errors during combat operations. The fire control system in a tank often integrates with its optical systems. Partial repairs could lead to inaccuracies in targeting and firing, reducing the tank's effectiveness in combat.
The damaged turret limited the transverse to rotate and elevation of the main cannon. Damage to the turret can affect the stabilization and alignment of the main gun. This condition can reduce firing accuracy, especially when the tank moves or engages distant targets. The crew members inside the turret rely on its armor and internal systems for protection and functionality. Damage to the turret can compromise their safety, leading to higher risks of injury or death in combat situations. A tank with a partially repaired turret may be limited in its operational roles. It might be relegated to defensive positions or support roles where full turret functionality is less critical rather than being used in offensive or high-intensity combat situations.
Damage to the barrel can affect the interior rifling, stabilizing the projectile as it is fired. Partial repairs may not fully restore the rifling, leading to reduced accuracy and a greater dispersion of shots. A partially repaired barrel might be more prone to cracks, deformities, or misalignment. This condition increases the risk of malfunctions, such as misfires or barrel bursts, which can be dangerous for the crew. Damage to the barrel can affect the projectile's velocity and stability, reducing effective range and decreasing armor penetration capabilities. If the barrel is partially repaired and prone to issues, the crew might need to fire slower to avoid exacerbating the damage or causing a catastrophic failure.
Tracks are crucial for a tank's movement. Partially repaired tracks might be more prone to slipping, breaking, or derailing, significantly reducing the tank's mobility. The tank might move slower, struggle with maneuverability, or become immobilized in rough terrain. Partially repaired tracks are likely to wear out faster and require more frequent maintenance. This condition increases the downtime of the tank and the workload on maintenance crews, reducing the overall operational availability of the tank. Mobility is a critical factor in a tank's combat effectiveness. The inability to maneuver quickly and effectively can hinder the tank's ability to position itself advantageously, avoid enemy fire, and support infantry or other units.
"All right, men. Even though we suffer from the enemy airstrike, we will prevail. We strike fast and hard. Show them what it means to face the Black Shadow! Now, all of you rest. Tomorrow, we will advance again."Commander Keitel shouted, rallying his troops.
The soldiers responded with a resounding cheer, their morale bolstered by Keitel's unwavering confidence. The time had come to launch their blitz attack. They know this mission is more dire because their panzers were destroyed in the previous airstrike, but they are the elite force of the Black Shadow and do not back down.
Commander Keitel calls Hans, his aide, Captain Alejandro, Commander of the cavalry unit, and Captain Vogel, Commander of the panzer unit, to discuss further strategies with the remaining force.
His eyes were steely and determined, and Commander Keitel watched as his men dispersed to their tents. The engineers continued their work on the panzers, knowing every second counted. The camp buzzed with urgency and camaraderie as the evening settled into night. The soldiers' camaraderie was crucial in keeping their spirits high despite the dire circumstances.
A large map of the Aeterna Region spread across a wooden table in the command tent. Flickering lanterns cast shadows that danced on the canvas walls. Keitel stood at the head of the table, hands planted firmly on its edges, his gaze sweeping over the assembled officers.
"Hans, Alejandro, Vogel. Our situation is challenging but not impossible. We have faced worse and emerged victorious. We have five operational Panzerkampfwagen Jaguar I, one repaired Jaguar I, two operational Panzerkampfwagen Jaguar II, and one repaired Jaguar II. We cannot expect the repaired panzers to perform well, so we must use them wisely. Our enemy thinks they have crippled us, but they underestimate our resolve." Commander Keitel tells about the current condition of the unit.
Captain Alejandro, a tall and lean man with a sharp mind for strategy, leaned forward. "Commander, our cavalry is ready to support any offensive. We can provide the speed and agility that our damaged panzers lack. We can create confusion and exploit weaknesses if we hit them quickly."
Captain Vogel, a burly and seasoned tank commander, nodded in agreement. "Our panzers may be damaged, but they are not out of the fight. We will focus on defensive positions, providing cover and fire support for the cavalry. With coordinated strikes, we can maximize our impact."
Keitel pointed to a section of the map where the enemy lines were weakest. "Here, the terrain favors us at the southeastern and southwestern pass. It is narrow and difficult for the enemy to maneuver their heavier units. Alejandro, your cavalry will lead the charge, hitting their supply lines and creating chaos. Vogel, your panzers will hold the pass, using the natural cover to protect your flanks."
Hans, Keitel's aide, stepped forward with a report. "Commander, our civil informant reports that the enemy reinforces their positions near the Onogni town. They anticipate a direct assault, which gives us the element of surprise if we strike from the south, southeast, and southwest."
For the reader's information, why did the civil informant inform Commander Keitel's units while UT ISIA operated entirely in the Fortisegnum Empire? They let the enemy know. Colonel Ermey orders Johnny Bean to leak the position of the Legionnaires in Onogni Town so that the Black Shadow can come and battle against Maximus and his Legionnaires. In other words, the informant is the native agent of UT ISIA undercover as a double agent.
Commander Keitel's eyes gleamed with a spark of inspiration. "Exactly. We will use their expectations against them. Hans, ensure our informant maintains a constant watch on enemy movements. We cannot afford any surprises."
"Alejandro, execute our previous plan to attack the enemy from the southeast and southwest. If they are unaware, you could lay ambush to the northwest and northeast to raid enemy logistics in the north. If this condition is met, we could pincer the enemy and take the enemy supply for us." Commander Keitel continues his strategies to Captain Alejandro to conduct the pincer attack and lay ambush for enemy supply lines.
"Vogel and the combined unit will spearhead from the south and the main road. Thanks to the United Terran constructed concrete road from this position to the Onogni town, we could have an enemy advantage against them." Commander Keitel explains the strategies from Captain Vogel and the combined unit to spearhead and break through the legionnaire's defense in Onogni town.
As the officers finalized their plans, Keitel's mind raced through the possibilities. They had to be swift, precise, and unrelenting. The Black Shadow's reputation depended on their ability to adapt and overcome.
"One more thing, We fight not just for victory but for our fallen comrades. Their sacrifice will not be in vain. We owe it to them to fight with everything we have to destroy the enemy." Commander Keitel's words boost the soldier's morale, and his voice is softer yet resolute.
The officers nodded solemnly, understanding the weight of their mission. With their plans set, they departed to brief their units. Keitel remained in the tent for a moment, staring at the map. He knew the coming battle would be brutal, but he also knew that his men were ready.
Outside, the camp settled into an uneasy rest. The sound of sharpening blades whispered conversations, and the occasional laugh echoed through the night. Keitel stepped out, looking at the stars above. He found a moment of solace, knowing that hope remained even in the darkest times.
"Tomorrow, we show them what it means to face the Black Shadow," he whispered, a determined smile forming.
As the first light of dawn approached, the camp stirred to life. Soldiers donned their gear, checked their weapons, and prepared to march to the Aeterna City. Keitel walked among them, offering words of encouragement and strength.
"Remember, we are the Black Shadow," he said, his voice carrying over the camp. "We strike swiftly, and we strike true. Today, we reclaim our honor and our land. Forward, for victory!"
The soldiers roared in response, their spirits high despite the challenges ahead. With the sun rising, Commander Keitel led his men into the fray, ready to face whatever awaited them.
The Second Line of Defense, Aeterna Region, 16 April 2141 / 16 Aprilis 1841, 08:00 am
Maximus and his legionnaires arrived yesterday in the second line of defense near Onogni Town. Previously, Commander Litorius became the leader of CLF, but because Maximus had already arrived, he transferred the leader to Maximus. Before Maximus and the reinforcement arrived, CLF only had two Panther II main battle tanks (MBT), three Puma infantry fighting vehicles (IFV), three Flakpanzer Gepard, two 40 mm Bofors cannons, and ten IVECO military trucks. Maximus brought three more Panther II MBTs, three Puma IFVs, three Panzerhaubitze (PzH) 2000, two Flakpanzer Gepard, two Bofors cannons, five M777 Howitzer, and fifteen IVECO military trucks. The total strength of CLF is five Panther II MBTs, six Puma IFVs, three PzH 2000, five Gepards, five Bofors cannons, five M777 Howitzer, and twenty-five IVECO military trucks.
These thoroughly combined armored units are enough to take the entire nation against primitive and outdated technology nations. However, their main problem is logistics. They only have limited weapons, equipment, ammunition, fuels and vehicles from the United Terran. If they approach this main problem carefully, they will only use airstrikes from MQ-9 Reaper or ME 262M to reserve the ammunition. But Maximus and his legionnaires want to show the result of their training. So, they needed to finish this civil war as soon as possible before the ammunition and fuel ran out.
Colonel Ermey initially advises conducting another airstrike with MQ-9 Reaper to obliterate Keitel combined units and save the ammunition and fuel for the counterattack. However, Maximus politely rejects Colonel Ermey's advice because this is their civil war, and the support for modern weapons, vehicles, and aircraft is more than enough. Maximus wants to show Colonel Ermey the result of their training in the UT ISF facilities in the United Terran. Colonel Ermey sighed and understood for the Maximus reason. Finally, he let Maximus access the SR-01 stealth recon drone to get the enemy's real-time information.
"Legatus Maximus, Panther II are ready in the frontline, PzH 2000 and M777 Howitzer already stand by in the rear to give additional support, Gepard and Bofors cannons placed in the strategic position to cover us from the enemy airstrike, and Puma IFV will support the infantry against the enemy in the frontline alongside with Panther II." Caesarius, the new ground vice leader of legionnaires, replaced Heraclius, who became the air vice leader of legionnaires and reported to Maximus about the CLF position.
"Good job, Caesarius. Based on the information of SR-01, the enemy has already advanced here and estimated that they will arrive in the afternoon. Let them come, and we will give them a hard lesson because they help the slavery faction to ignite this worthless civil war. Inform all units to come here, including Litorius, Valerius, and Lucullus, to discuss the incoming battle." Maximus orders Caesarius to call all unit commanders.
"Yes, Legatus. I will call all the unit commanders." Caesairus responds.
Several minutes later, Litorius, Commander of the Anti-air Unit, Valerius, Commander of the Infantry Unit, and Lucullus, Commander of the Armored Unit, arrived in the command room to discuss the strategies for the incoming battle.
Maximus welcomed his commanders into the command room, a large house in Onogni town adorned with tactical maps and modern communication equipment from the United Terran. The atmosphere was tense yet focused, with the officers understanding the gravity of the battle ahead.
"Thank you for coming, gentlemen. We face a formidable enemy in the Black Shadow, which supports the slavery faction army, but our superior technology and training give us the edge. We must use every advantage to ensure our victory." Maximus began, his voice steady and authoritative, describing the enemy and legionnaires advantage against the enemy.
"Our intelligence indicates that the enemy plans to advance from the south, southeast, and southwest. Their main force, led by the tanks unit, will likely spearhead the assault. They have a mix of repaired and fully operational panzers, which means their strategy will hinge on using their strengths while mitigating their weaknesses. Fortunately, yesterday, Colonel Ermey ordered an airstrike against the enemy as a welcoming gift to weaken enemy power. Based on the information from the SR-01 drone from the United Terran, the enemy suffered some serious damage. Several panzers and trucks were destroyed, losing their anti-air defense capabilities. We could let Heraclius conduct an airstrike with ME 262M, but they already achieved glory by shooting down enemy aircraft during the air raid bombing. Now, this is our chance to show our power and the result of our training." Maximus gestured to the map spread across the table, highlighting key positions and movement routes. He also tells about the condition of the enemy force after an airstrike from MQ-9 Reaper and embraces his ground legionnaires to achieve glory against the enemy.
"Legatus, our Flakpanzer Gepards, and Bofors cannons are positioned to provide a robust anti-air defense. We will ensure that no enemy air support can threaten our positions. However, their ground forces will require a coordinated effort to counter. Even though we could utilize Gepard to give support against enemy infantry and lightly armored units, we still need heavier power to destroy enemy armored units. Commander Valerius and Lucullus could provide strategies to counter enemy heavy armored units. " Litorius, a new anti-air commander who achieved glory by shooting down the wyvern recon unit from the slavery faction army, reported the condition of the anti-air unit, ready to cover against enemy airstrikes.
"Excellent, Litorius. Valerius, your infantry units will form the backbone of our defense. I want them entrenched and ready to hold the line against any ground assault. Use the terrain to your advantage, and coordinate with the Puma IFVs to maintain flexibility and firepower." Maximus order to Valerius.
"Understood, Legatus. Our men are prepared and will hold their ground. We will ensure the enemy pays dearly for every inch they attempt to take. The sniper team will utilize their new equipment, Accuracy International AXMC sniper rifles from the UT ISIA, to give support and kill the enemy commander. They will positioned in the higher ground to cover a wide range. As marksman rifles, the infantry units with standard STG-44M assault rifles and Gewehr-43 semi-automatic rifles will cover the Panther II from enemy infantry anti-tank guns. As we know, MBTs and IFVs without infantry support are vulnerable to enemy anti-tank guns." Valerius, a veteran of traditional infantry and a new modern infantry commander, explains the strategies and position of the infantry.
Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings.
"Our Panther II MBT will form the spearhead of our counterattack. We will strike hard and decisively once the enemy is engaged and their weaknesses exposed. Panther II will destroy enemy-heavy panzer units with its 130 mm smoothbore cannons. The Pumas will support the infantry, providing rapid response and additional firepower. However, we need infantry support from enemy anti-tank guns. Commander Valerius, I hope your infantry unit can cover our armored units." Lucullus, the veteran of a traditional cavalry unit and a new modern armored unit commander, then addressed the position of Panther II MBT as spearhead and Puma IFV as support against the enemy armored unit.
"Rest assured, Commander Lucullus. We will conduct the training like in the previous training in the United Terran." Commander Valerius responds.
"Our main objective is to annihilate the enemy force. Capture the surrendered and wounded enemy soldiers. First, we will bombard the enemy in a vulnerable position where our artillery and SPG can deliver a devastating blow. The M777 Howitzers and PzH 2000s will provide long-range support, targeting enemy concentrations and disrupting their advance. Panther II will focus on destroying enemy panzers, while Puma will give support against enemy infantry. The infantry will help to cover Panther II and Puma from enemy anti-tank guns. Gepard and Bofors cannon will protect us from enemy airstrikes and air support." Maximus pointed to strategic points on the map and described the strategies against the enemy.
"Legatus, ten IVECO military trucks are ready to return to Aeterna City to take and bring supplies to us. Commander Valerius, could some of your infantry escort the IVECO trucks to prevent enemy ambush?" Caesarius reports that the IVECO military trucks will used as supply vehicles and need escort from the infantry.
"Affirmative, Tribunus Caesarius. Some infantry units will escort the IVECO trucks to protect our supplies from enemy ambushes and raids. I hope Commander Lucullus could give one of Puma IFV to escort the logistics unit." Commander Valerius responds. Even though he knows the possibility of enemy ambush is low, he is better safe than sorry to escort the IVECO supply trucks.
Suddenly, the call from Colonel Ermey came to the Maximus commander's devices, and he let Colonel Ermey speak to all commanders.
"Good morning, Gentlemen. Today, you will fight against the enemy. This battle will become your battle with modern weapons, equipment, and vehicles. Yesterday, we conducted an airstrike to give a welcoming gift to the enemy. Even though they are wounded, they are still strong. Do not underestimate the enemy. Show your result in the training." Colonel Ermey advises Maximus and his legionnaires.
"Yes, Sir. We will do our best to defeat the enemy." Maximus and his legionnaires responds.
"Remember, gentlemen, the key to our success will be coordination and timing. Use the real-time data from the SR-01 stealth recon drone to adjust your tactics. Flexibility and rapid response will be crucial. May God give you the best result, and after this battle, I order you to conduct a counterattack against the enemy in Noplos City. God speed Legionnaires." Colonel Ermey then closed the communication and boosted the morale of the legionnaires.
"Colonel Ermey was right. We must remain adaptable and ready to exploit any opportunity. Caesarius, ensure that communication lines remain open and that all units receive timely updates. Our success depends on our ability to act as a cohesive force." Maximus tells his commanders they must be ready for everything at any opportunity. Also, he orders Caesarius to ensure communication during the battle.
"Yes, Legatus. I will oversee the communication network to ensure no lapses." Caesarius acknowledged the order.
Maximus took a deep breath and looked at his commanders, his eyes filled with determination. He knew that this battle would be different from his previous traditional battles. One thing that remained the same was that they must achieve glory in this battle and defeat the slavery faction in this Civil War.
"This battle will test our resolve and our capabilities. However, remember, we fight not just for ourselves but for the future of our people. Let our actions today ensure that the Black Shadow learns the true meaning of resistance. Our battle will be legendary. Dismissed, and may victory be ours." Maximus tried to boost the morale of his legionnaires.
As the commanders left to brief their units, Maximus remained in the command room, his mind focused on the coming battle. He knew the stakes were high but believed in his men and their training.
Outside, the camp was a hive of activity as soldiers made final preparations. The rumble of engines and the clatter of weapons filled the air, mingling with the determined voices of the officers rallying their troops.
50 km South of Onogni Town, Aeterna Region, 16 April 2141 / 16 Aprilis 1841, 13:00 am
Commander Keitel arrived in the small town of Cossono, 50 km from Onogni town. They halt to rest and resupply from the local people. Because Cossono is in the Aeterna Region, their people are Emperor Aurelius supporters and already have modern infrastructure from the United Terran, such as concrete roads. Initially, they hesitated to give the resources to the Black Shadow. However, under the threat of rifles, they submit to the enemy. They forcibly gave resources and information about the legionnaires and the United Terran construction project in the Aeterna Region.
Hans and the remaining members of Schwarzer Schatten's operatives in Pampoi City interrogate the people to gain valuable information. One of the people under the threat of rifles leaked that legionnaires have metal land elephants with long noses, metal land dragons, metal carriages, metal ballistas, and metal anti-air ballistas while passing Cossono town fall back to the Aeterna City.
Even though the people use the words based on their information and knowledge, Hans and the members of the Schwarzer Schatten operatives know the meaning of the person's words. Then Hans releases the person because of his valuable information and returns to Commander Keitel.
"This is not good, Commander. We got valuable information that the enemy has metal land elephants, metal land dragons, metal carriages, metal ballistas, and metal anti-air ballistas. In other words, they have modern panzers resembling Panzerkampfwagen Nebelparder, IFV resembles Honigdachs, modern trucks, flakpanzer Ostwind, and 37 mm flak cannon. However, metal ballista means we assume it is a deployed field howitzer. If we enter enemy field howitzer radius, they could bombard us." Hans report to Commander Keitel.
"I see. The enemy had already prepared and fortified their defense with a field howitzer. We could assume the enemy will lay an ambush in the town on the path to the Aeterna City. What is the nearing town from this town on the path to Aeterna City?" Commander Keitel asked Hans.
"Based on the civilian information and map from Senator Brutus, there is a large town north of Cossono town, Onogni town. Onogni became one of the United Terran workers' supply hubs in the Aeterna Region while constructing concrete roads." Hans reports about Onogni town.
"I see. There is a high possibility that the enemy fortified Onogni town, and there is a chance we will also battle against the United Terran forces in Onogni town. Maybe forces that defeated Commander Pompius and Thomsen's units, not the legionnaires but the United Terran forces. There is a possibility that the United Terran joined this civil war secretly to help Emperor Aurelius. Damn, why we only brought outdated Jaguar I and Jaguar II. If we could bring our main battle panzers, Panzkampfwagen Löwe I, Löwe II, and Flakpanzer Ostwind, we could defeat them, destroy their enemy panzer easily and not suffer from enemy aircraft air strikes." Commander Keitel curses his fate to battle the enemy modern army with outdated weapons and panzers.
"Mr. 01 did not say that United Terran will join this civil war. He only said that we would battle against primitive legionnaires, not the modern army. Maybe if we had known this early, the Führer would not let us help the Black Shadow." Hans responds.
"That bastard SternRitter could lobby the Führer because the ReichFührer is the leader of SternRitter, and Mr. 01 is an ex-member of SternRitter. We Angriffmacht only obey the Führer order, not that bastard SternRitter. However, because the Führer ordered us to help the Black Shadow, we obeyed and helped them in this useless foreign civil war. Even Waffen SternRitter always got the most advanced and modern weapons before us, Angriffmacht. I do not understand who the main military forces are, Angriffmacht or those bastard paramilitaries?" Commander Keitel sighed.
In the military body of land forces of Weltenkraft Reich, there are two forces, Angriffmacht and SternRitter. Both body loyal to the nation, but Sternritter is more loyal to the Führer than the Vaterland. Angriffmacht is the ordinary and main force of the Weltenkraft Reich, while SternRitter is a particular unit that conducts grey and black operations inside and outside the Weltenkraft Reich. Keitel, Hans, and Vogel are members of Heer, while Thomsen is a member of the Luftwaffe in Angriffmacht, who was ordered to join Black Shadow to help them during the civil war in the Fortisregnum Empire.
Now, they cannot back down. The enemy is in the front, and as the elite Angriffmacht soldiers, they must advance to defeat the enemy.
The town of Cossono bustled with the hurried resupply activity. Commander Keitel and his men took stock of their situation, the tension palpable as they prepared for the upcoming conflict. The information Hans had gathered weighed heavily on everyone's minds.
Commander Keitel called a meeting with his key officers in the town's central building, now commandeered as their temporary command post. Maps were spread across the table, and the officers gathered around, each contributing their insights.
"We need to formulate a new strategy. The presence of the United Terran forces changed everything. We cannot afford to engage them directly with our current equipment after the enemy's previous airstrike damaged it." Commander Keitel informed his soldiers about the change of plan.
"Our best option is to avoid a confrontation with their main force. We should aim to disrupt their supply lines and weaken their position before making significant moves. We assume the enemy supply is coming from the north path because this is only the concrete road and has become the main road to Aeterna City." Hans nodded, pointing to the enemy supply lines' route map.
"We could send reconnaissance teams ahead to scout Onogni town. If we can find any weak points in their defenses, we might be able to exploit them. Additionally, setting up ambush points along the supply routes could help slow their progress and cause confusion." Captain Heydrich, Commander of intelligence and a member of Schwarzer Schatten, informed to conduct reconnaissance in the dark.
"Ensure that our recon teams are prepared and briefed. They must move out immediately and gather as much information as possible about the enemy's positions and movements." Keitel considered the suggestions and turned to his communications officer to conduct the mission carefully.
The officer saluted and left the room to carry out the orders. Keitel turned back to the map, tracing a route with his finger. He knew this mission would be harder without air and artillery support, while the enemy had all the support against them.
"We will also need to establish defensive positions around Cossono. If the United Terran forces discover our presence here, we must be ready to defend this town. Because of their presence, the offensive mission could become the defensive mission." Commander Keitel thought about the change in strategies and position because of the interference of United Terran forces in Onogni.
The meeting continued, with plans being refined and strategies developed. As dusk approached, the officers dispersed to carry out their respective tasks, each fully aware of the challenges ahead.
Outskirts of Onogni Town, Aeterna Region, 16 April 2141 / 16 Aprilis 1841, 09:00 pm
The reconnaissance teams moved swiftly and silently through the dense forest surrounding Onogni town. They were experienced operatives from Schwarzer Schatten who were trained for this mission. Unlike the Schwarzer Schatten units in Colobria and Cosonzo Region, these units did not have to fight against the UT ISIA native agent's counterintelligence mission. UT ISIA native agents let the legionnaires achieve glory and defeat this army.
As they approached the outskirts of the town, they used night-vision equipment to observe the enemy's fortifications. The sight was daunting. The town was heavily fortified, with modern defensive structures and legionnaire patrols. Armored vehicles were strategically positioned, and anti-aircraft guns were visible along the perimeter.
Sergeant Müller, leading one of the recon teams, whispered into his radio. However, he could not utilize the radio because the legionnaires were already jamming all communication except for the Command Center and legionnaires.
"Damn, why we cannot use the radio. Maybe because of the geolocation interference. However, how could the enemy utilize communication? Could they utilize a jamming device to hinder our communication?" Sergeant Müller commented.
Sergeant Müller and his recon team retreat to the Cossono town because the enemy might already know about the recon team. Unknown to them, their movement is already monitored by the recon drones of the legionnaires because Maximus tells his legionnaires to send small recon drones to surveillance the surrounding area.
Cossono Town, Aeterna Region, 16 April 2141 / 16 Aprilis 1841, 23:30 pm
The recon teams returned with valuable information. Keitel and his officers analyzed the data late into the night, formulating a plan of action. They identified several weak points in the enemy's defenses and potential ambush sites along the supply routes.
"Hans, remember to position our force at dawn tomorrow. We need to conduct the raid mission as quickly as possible." Commander Keitel orders to Hans.
"Jawohl Herr. I will ensure the units are ready at dawn." Hans responds.
"Captain Alejandro, I want you and all the cavalry dispatch to conduct an ambush for the enemy supply lines. You split the cavalry into two units: the first will take the northeast route, and the second will take the northwest. We will conduct two operations: ambush and raid enemy supplies mission and attack the Onogni town. You and your cavalry unit conduct ambush and raid missions while Vogel and I conduct the assault of Onogni town.
"Affirmative, Sir. My cavalry units and I are dispatched now." Captain Alejandro responds.
Captain Alejandro split his cavalry unit into two to conduct ambush and raid missions. Unknown to them, this order will give Commander Keitel and Captain Alejandro a different fate.
Then, Commander Keitel calls all of his soldiers to hear his speech at night. He knows that this will be their last day as comrades.
"Soldiers. I know all of you are tired of this mission. I know all of you missed your family in the Vaterland. However, we cannot disappoint the Vaterland. The Führer ordered us to help the Black Shadow. Now, we are not the Angriffmacht, but Black Shadow." Commander Keitel addressed them as Black Shadows under the orders of the Führer.
"Nevertheless, our spirit and skill are still the Angriffmacht. We will show the enemy how Angriffmacht is fighting. We have our plan. We will strike their supply lines and create confusion within their ranks. We aim to weaken their position and force them to stretch their resources thin. Remember, speed and surprise are our greatest assets. Let us show the United Terran forces what Black Shadow and Angriffmacht soldiers are capable of." Commander Keitel addressed his assembled troops and tried to boost their morale.
The soldiers cheered, their morale bolstered by the clear and decisive plan. They knew the road ahead would be tough but were ready to face whatever challenges awaited them. As they prepared for the upcoming operations, camaraderie and determination grew more vigorous.
Unknown to them because of their delayed and careful strategies, Maximus will utilize this to conduct an attack on Commander Keitel. The hunter now becomes the hunted. This is reasonable because Commander Keitel is a careful officer. Before the assault on Cossono town and the airstrike in the first line of defense, he only thought the enemy were primitive legionnaires. However, after he learned that he was not fighting legionnaires but the modern army of the United Terran, he must think twice about fighting the modern army with outdated weapons and panzers.
The Second Line of Defense, Onogni Town, Aeterna Region, 17 April 2141 / 17 Aprilis 1841, 00:30 am
Maximus suddenly called his Commander because the drones detected enemy recon unit activity on the outskirts of Onogni town.
"Gentleman, our recon drone already detected enemy recon activity on the outskirts of Onogni Town. Also, based on SR-01 information, the enemy had already arrived at Cossono town, 50 km from here. How about we potentially offensive the enemy before they attack us?" Maximus asked to his Commanders.
The command room buzzed with renewed energy as Maximus' words hung in the air. The commanders quickly gathered around the tactical map, eyes fixed on the path from Cossono to Onogni.
"Legatus, a potentially offensive could catch them off guard and disrupt their plans. However, we need to ensure that our forces are well-coordinated and prepared for a swift and decisive action," Lucullus commented thoughtfully.
"Lucullus, you are right. Our advantage lies in the element of surprise and our superior technology. We must strike hard and fast. Caesarius, ensure our communication lines are open and secure. Litorius, I need you to prepare our Gepards and Bofors cannons for anti-air support in case the enemy tries to retaliate from the air." Maximus nodded in agreement.
"Yes, Legatus," Litorius responded, determination evident.
"Valerius, your infantry will form the vanguard of our assault. Coordinate closely with Lucullus' armored units. Use the terrain to our advantage and protect our heavy armor from enemy anti-tank units. We need every bit of firepower we can muster." Maximus orders to Valerius and Lucullus
"Understood, Legatus. We will be ready." Valerius and Lucullus both saluted sharply.
"We will advance under darkness and launch our attack at dawn. We aim to neutralize their command center in Cossono and disrupt their supply lines. Their forces will be in disarray once we break their chain of command." Maximus turned to the map, tracing the route from Onogni to Cossono with his finger. He also targets to neutralize the enemy command center in Cossono town.
The commanders quickly dispersed to relay orders to their respective units. Outside, the camp was a flurry of activity as soldiers prepared for the upcoming assault. The sound of engines starting and weapons being loaded filled the air, mingling with the determined murmurs of the legionnaires.
The Second Line of Defense, Onogni Town, Aeterna Region, 17 April 2141 / 17 Aprilis 1841, 06:00 am
As dawn approached, Maximus and his commanders stood ready at the edge of Onogni town. The horizon began to lighten, casting a faint glow over the landscape. The time they had come.
"Legionnaires, this is our moment. We fight not just for ourselves but for the future of our people. Today, we show the enemy the true meaning of legionnaires. Advance!" Maximus' voice boomed through the communication network, rallying his troops.
The roar of Panther II MBTs, Puma IFVs, and IVECO military truck engines started the assault and potential offensive of the legionnaires against the enemy. Because the enemy was in the Cossono town, the bombard attack with PzH 2000 and M777 Howitzer became risky to collateral damage. So, Maximus and his commanders utilized armored units to spearhead the enemy while the infantry supported them.
Thanks to the concrete road from Onogni and Cossono town, all the vehicles can move at high speed. They could arrive at the outskirts of Cossono town within one hour.
Cossono Town, Aeterna Region, 17 April 2141 / 17 Aprilis 1841, 07:00 pm
Even though Commander Keitel hesitated to confront the legionnaires that he thought were the United Terran forces directly, he still prepared to position his troops if the enemy came to attack them. His worst case happened when the enemy started to assault them in Cossono. Fortunately, he ordered his army to stand by at dawn.
Because of the enemy's position in Cossono Town, Panther II, Puma, and Gepard, gunners must shoot carefully to minimize collateral damage. Lucullus and his tank crews become the first spearheads to attack the enemy. Thanks to advanced communication and aiming devices, they can integrate the information from recon drones about the enemy's position and use aiming devices to shoot the enemy precisely.
Based on the drone information, the first enemy tank is the Panzerkampfwagen Jaguar I, which already stands by and is ready to battle the Panther II of legionnaires. They shoot first because the enemy's position is more advantageous than Lucullus's. The 105 mm KWK L/52 from Jaguar I shoot armor-piercing discarding sabot (APDS) rounds to the Panther II. APDS is the predecessor of armor-piercing fin-stabilizing discarding sabot (APFSDS) rounds. Even though APDS is a predecessor of APFSDS, it can still penetrate the modern main battle tank from some angle.
"Feindlicher Panzer ähnelt in Sicht. Die Entfernung beträgt 900 Meter. Laden Sie die APDS-Granaten. (Enemy panzer resembles Nebelparder on sight. The range is 900 meters. Load the APDS rounds.)" The panzer commander of Jaguar I orders his loader to load APDS rounds.
"Richtschütze, zielen Sie auf die untere Glacisplatte. Wenn der Panzer einem Nebelparder ähnelt, ist das seine Schwachstelle. (Gunner, target their lower glacis. If the panzer resembles Nebelparder, that is their weakness.)" The Commander ordered the gunner to hit the Panther II lower glacis.
"Ja, Herr. Zielen auf die untere Glacisplatte des feindlichen Panzers. (Yes, Sir. Targeting the enemy panzer lower glacis.)" The gunner responds.
"APDS-Granate ist geladen. Bereit zum Feuern. (APDS round is loaded. Ready to fire.)" The loader reports after successfully loading the APDS round to the gun.

Figure 3. The art style of Panzerkampfwagen Jaguar I shooting their APDS round from 105 mm KWK L/52 (resembles of Leopard I 105 mm L7 Rifled Gun) [3]
Then the gunner shoots the APDS round to the Panther II lower glacis. Unfortunately, the APDS round did not penetrate the lower glacis armor of Panther II. If the lower glacis armor of Panther II resembles the standard lower glacis of Leopard 2A7, there is a possibility to be penetrated. However, Panther II armor was reinforced with nanomaterial and nanocomposite technology to improve the armor's power and thickness.
Standard Leopard 2A7 hull armor has an effective thickness of approximately 850 – 900 mm against kinetic energy (KE) threats such as APDS, APFSDS, APCR, and HVAP [4]. The effective thickness of 1500 mm is against chemical energy (CE) such as HEAT, HESH, Tandem-charge warhead, thermobaric warhead, and other CE threat sources.
Panther II armor based on Leopard 2A7 modified with nanomaterial and nanocomposite technology effectively improves the effective thickness by up to 30%. The hull has an effective thickness of approximately 1,105 – 1,170 mm against kinetic energy (KE) threats and 1950 mm against chemical energy (CE) threats.
APDS rounds from Jaguar I have penetration power of 296 and 277 mm of RHA at 500 and 1000 meters [5]. This penetration power resembles the M392A2 round of 105 mm L7 Kannon. Even though this round is good enough against the Cold War or late 90s main battle tanks, this shell cannon penetrates modern battle tank armor, especially reinforced with nanomaterial and nanocomposite technology.
During the construction of Panther II from Leopard 2A7 design, engineers in the United Terran constructed two types of Panther II armor. The first is without self-healing capability, and the second is with the self-healing capability. However, because there is no clear and deep bond between United Terran and Fortisregnum Empire, they only send Panther II without self-healing capability and reserve the units with self-healing capability. In the future, the Fortisregnum Empire became the sister and vassal-like nation to the United Terran, so they started exporting Panther II with self-healing capability.
"Die feindlichen Panzer sind immer noch intakt. Verdammt, wir können ihre Panzerung nicht durchdringen. Wie kann es sein, dass die Panzerung der feindlichen Panzer unseren APDS-Geschossen standhält? Könnte es sein, dass die Panzer fortschrittlicher sind als unsere Nebelparder? (Enemy panzers still intact. Shit, we cannot penetrate their armor. How the enemy panzer armor cannot be penetrated with our APDS rounds? Could it be that panzers are more advanced than our Nebelparder?)" The Commander shocked that their APDS round cannot penetrate Panther II armor.
"Lade eine weitere APDS-Runde, und wir werden den feindlichen Panzer erneut beschießen. (Load another APDS round, and we will shoot the enemy panzer again.)" The Commander orders the loader to reload APDS.
Inside the Panther II, Lucullus prays, thanks the Gods, and praises the United Terran armor quality.
"Thank Gods, the enemy shoots not penetrated our armor. This Panther II tank is truly a beast. I wonder what the real power of the United Terran main battle tanks is if Panther II is outdated for over one hundred years." Lucullus wonders about the real power of the United Terran main battle tank.
Lucullus returns to his actual condition while the enemy attacks him and his crew. Then, he wants to counter the enemy's shootings.
"Claudius, load the APFSDS-T round. We will give back their welcoming gift." Lucullus ordered Claudius, the loader, to load the APFSDS-T round.
"Yes, Praefectus. Loading APFSDS-T round." Claudius responds.
"Cornelius, target enemy tank lower glacis. We will shoot their weakness in the front." Lucullus orders Cornelius, the intelligence gunner.
"Yes, Prafectus. Calculating the range, wind speed, and angle. Scanning enemy weakness points. Scanning is complete, with 95% penetration at lower glacis, 90% penetration at the hull, 85% penetration at the turret, and 80% penetration at gun mantlet." Cornelius reports that after shooting the scanner at the enemy Jaguar I.
Advanced scanning and calculating devices, such as a fire control system (FCS), were installed in Pather II to help the tank commander and gunner choose the correct position of the enemy tank's weak spot and increase the chance of penetration. The scanner utilizes advanced electromagnetic waves to penetrate metal or composite armor, and the absorption and reflection of these waves can be used to estimate and calculate the thickness of the armor [6,7]. The absorption and wave reflection data were estimated to calculate and estimate the enemy's effective thickness. Integrated with the penetration data of APFSDS and high explosive anti-tank (HEAT) rounds, the tank commander and gunner will have a probability of successful penetration.
During his training at UT ISF, Cornelius was ordered to calculate the scanning result manually using physical and mathematical equations to learn the fundamentals of the scanning process. Surprisingly, his high IQ allowed him to solve actual study cases based on manual data scanning. However, to help the Commander and gunner in the actual battle, United Terran military engineers installed an advanced calculating device to help simulate, calculate, and analyze the scanning results.
"APFSDS-T is loaded. Ready to fire." Claudius reports.
"Shoot the enemy lower glacis. Fire!" Lucullus orders Cornelius to shoot the enemy tank.
Cornelius then pressed the trigger, and the projectile launched to the target and hit the lower glacis of Jaguar I.
Panther II cannons were constructed based on 130 mm Smoothbore Rheinmetall Kannon. Panther II still operates a manual loader rather than a 130 mm Rheinmetall, which utilizes autoloader systems. The reason why Panther II still operates with a manual loader is the simplicity, flexibility, and proven reliability of a human loader. Another reason is to produce in minimal time to train legionnaires and then send them to the Fortisregnum Empire.
The standard 130 mm Rheinmetall L/51 has a penetration power of approximately 1050 – 1150 mm against RHA [8]. Panther II 130 mm KWK L/51 cannon utilizes nanomaterial and nanocomposite technology of tungsten composite to improve penetration, enhance the projectile's strength and toughness, reduce weight while optimizing density, and enhance ballistic performance. The modified 130 mm KWK L/51 improved the penetration power up to 30% with a penetration of approximately 1365 – 1495 mm RHA.
The armor of Jaguar I lower glacis is 100 mm with angles at 55 degrees, and it only gives approximately 174.5 mm. Because the effective thickness of Jaguar I is below 130 mm APFSDS penetration power, Jaguar I penetrated, and the projectiles give a spalling effect to the crew of Jaguar I. Upon penetration, there could be spalling effects inside the tank, where fragments of armor material break off and become projectiles within the crew compartment. This secondary fragmentation caused the death of the Jaguar I driver, injured loader and radio operator, and damaged internal systems. The damage from the APFSDS round created a massive hole in the lower glacis of Jaguar.
"Enemy hit. Load another APFSDS-T round." Lucullus orders Claudius to reload the APFSDS round.
"Reloading APFSDS-T round. APFSDS-T loaded." Claudius quickly reloaded the APFSDS round.
"Shooting enemy hull. Fire!" Lucullus orders to shoot the projectile.
Cornelius shoots the APFSDS round again, and it penetrates the hull and through to the ammo rack, causing the Jaguar I to explode and kill all remaining crews. The destruction of Jaguar I and its crew's death became Commander Keitel's first casualty in this battle.
Cossono Town, Aeterna Region, 17 April 2141 / 17 Aprilis 1841, 07:20 pm
After the first Jaguar I was destroyed, another Jaguar I and Jaguar II fought with other Lucullus tank units. Unlike Jaguar I, which has 105 mm Kannon, Jaguar II has 128 mm Kannon. Because Jaguar II is the upgraded version of Jaguar I, it has better armor, caliber, and penetration power. The 128 mm KwK L/51 has a penetration power of 355 mm RHA at 1000 meters with APDS round. Even though it has better penetration power, Jaguar II 128 mm cannons with APDS rounds still cannot penetrate Panther II. Panther II has side and rear effective thickness armor at 650 – 780 mm for side armor and 390 – 455 mm for rear armor. Even though ambush is possible, Jaguar I and Jaguar II still cannot penetrate Panther II armor from the side and rear.
However, Panther II can penetrate Jaguar II with APFSDS rounds. Jaguar II has a hull, lower glacis, turret, and gun mantlet with effective thicknesses of 278.7 mm, 209.3 mm, 260.9 mm, and 270 mm, respectively. In other words, Jaguar I and II did not have a chance to defeat Panther II.
The battle in Cossono Town continued to rage as Lucullus and his Panther II units pushed forward, utilizing their advanced armor and weaponry to their advantage. The destruction of the first Jaguar I had given them a significant morale boost, but the arrival of the upgraded Jaguar II tanks meant the fight was far from over.
Lucullus kept a keen eye on the tactical display, receiving real-time updates from the recon drones and coordinating with the other tank crews. The information was crucial in identifying enemy positions and planning their next moves.
"Praefectus Lucullus, we have multiple tanks moving in from the east. They are trying to flank us," reported one of the nearby tank commanders over the comms.
"Understood. Hold your positions and maintain defensive formation. We cannot let them encircle us," Lucullus replied, calm but authoritative.
As the battle intensified, Lucullus knew their technological edge would be their saving grace. The Panther II's advanced communication systems allowed seamless coordination between the units, and the precise aiming devices ensured their shots were deadly accurate.
"Claudius, keep those APFSDS-T rounds coming. We need to maintain our fire superiority," Lucullus ordered.
"Yes, Praefectus. Loading another APFSDS-T round now," Claudius responded, his hands working swiftly and efficiently.
The gunner Cornelius had already locked onto another Jaguar II that had just come into view. The enemy tank was moving cautiously, aware of the fate that had befallen its predecessor.
"Target acquired. Range: 950 meters. Wind speed and direction are already accounted for in the shoot. Ready to fire on your command, Praefectus." Cornelius reported that his eyes never left the targeting screen.
"Fire at will," Lucullus commanded.
The Panther II's cannon roared as it unleashed another APFSDS-T round. The projectile flew straight and true, striking the Jaguar II's hull with devastating force. The round's advanced penetration capabilities ensured it pierced through the armor, causing catastrophic damage to the internal systems and crew.
"Direct hit! The enemy tank neutralized. Load another APFSDS round." Cornelius announced a hint of satisfaction in his voice.
The destruction of another Jaguar II further demoralized the enemy forces. Lucullus could see the hesitation in their movements, a clear sign that they were beginning to realize the futility of their assault.
Cossono Town, Aeterna Region, 17 April 2141 / 17 Aprilis 1841, 07:30 am
On the other side of Cossono town, the legionnaires engaged with enemy soldiers. The Pumas followed closely, their infantry units ready to dismount and engage hostile forces.
With the support of a 30 mm autocannon and dual 7.62 mm MG42 machine guns, Puma could kill enemy soldiers effectively while protecting the legionnaires from enemy shots. Puma armor could effectively repel rifles, assault rifles, and submachine gun rounds from the enemy.
Valerius' infantry spread out, using the cover of buildings and debris to mask their approach. The Pumas, powerful Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFVs), moved alongside them, their 30 mm autocannons sweeping the area for any signs of enemy resistance. The IFVs' thick armor rendered them impervious to small-arms fire from the enemy's Gewehr 98 bolt-action rifles, MP 18 submachine guns, and STG-24 assault rifles.
"Praefectus Valerius, Puma-1 here. We have eyes on enemy infantry holed up in a series of ruined buildings ahead. They appear to be setting up defensive positions. Requesting permission to engage." One of the Puma commanders came to the report about the enemy's position.
"Permission granted, Puma-1. Use the autocannons to suppress their positions and provide covering fire for our advance. Infantry, prepare to engage and clear those buildings!" Valerius ordered.
The Pumas opened fire, their 30 mm autocannons roaring to life. The high-velocity rounds punched through the walls of the enemy positions, creating breaches and sending enemy soldiers scrambling for cover. Dual 7.62 mm MG42M machine guns mounted on the Pumas added to the barrage, spraying the area with suppressive fire.
Under the cover of the Pumas, Valerius' infantry advanced, their StG 44M assault rifles at the ready. The modernized StG 44M, with its improved ergonomics, accuracy, and rate of fire, proved devastating in the hands of the experienced legionnaires. They moved coordinatedly, leapfrogging from cover to cover and laying down precise bursts of fire to keep the enemy pinned.
Suddenly, there is a shoot from enemy snipers to one of the legionnaire's heads. Fortunately, the reinforced modern gear helm protected him from sudden death. Then, all legionnaires take cover from other enemy snipers.
"Sniper unit, search enemy snipers. Take out those snipers! We cannot afford to lose momentum here!" Valerius called out as his men pressed forward.
"Roger that, Searching and conducting counter sniping." One of the snipers responds.
Among the legionnaires, designated marksmen equipped with Gewehr 43M rifles and snipers with Accuracy International AXMC rifles to identify and neutralize enemy snipers. The Gewehr 43M, a reliable semi-automatic rifle with a modernized design, allowed for rapid and accurate fire. Meanwhile, the AXMC sniper rifles, equipped with advanced optics and chambered for powerful .338 Lapua Magnum rounds, provided effective long-range engagement. They also utilize silencers to suppress the sound of sniper rifle projectiles.
"Sniper team, I want those enemy snipers neutralized. Use thermal scopes to pick them off through the smoke," Valerius instructed over the comms.
The sniper team quickly set up positions, utilizing the elevated vantage points to scan for targets. The thermal scopes pierced through the smoke and dust, highlighting the heat signatures of enemy snipers. One by one, the enemy sharpshooters were picked off with precise shots, their positions rendered untenable.
"One shoot, one kill." Flavius, the Commander of the snipers unit, successfully eliminated several enemy snipers and soldiers.
As the enemy resistance crumbled, Valerius' infantry moved in to clear the remaining pockets of resistance. They used their StG 44M rifles with ruthless efficiency, firing controlled bursts to take down any enemy soldiers attempting to regroup. The Pumas continued to provide fire support, and their cannons and machine guns kept any reinforcements at bay.
"Push forward! We have them on the run. Secure the area and prepare to move to the next objective!" Valerius commanded, his voice cutting through the chaos.
Despite the fierce resistance, the Keitel soldiers found themselves outgunned and outmatched. Their outdated Gewehr 98 rifles, MP 18 submachine guns, and STG-24 assault rifles were no match for the firepower and armor of the legionnaire's infantry units and their Puma IFVs. Valerius' men systematically swept through the enemy positions, clearing each building and neutralizing any remaining threats.
The battle for Cossono Town continued to rage, but the tide had firmly turned in favor of the legionnaires. With the combined arms approach of infantry, armor, and fire support, Valerius and his forces had achieved a decisive breakthrough, pushing the enemy back and securing a critical foothold in the town.
As the dust settled and the last echoes of gunfire faded, Valerius regrouped his men and prepared for the next phase of their mission. The road to victory was still long, but the legionnaire's infantry unit had demonstrated their prowess and determination, setting the stage for further successes in their campaign against the enemy forces.
(Commander Keitel, we are losing too many tanks and soldiers. We must regroup and reconsider our approach.)" Captail Vogel radioed in desperation.
Observing the battle from a distance, Keitel clenched his fists in frustration. He underestimated the technological advancements of the United Terran forces, and now they have modernized legionnaires and caused significant damage to his armored units.
"Ziehen Sie sich auf die Verteidigungsstellungen zurück. Wir werden unsere Strategie neu bewerten und in die Stadt Noplos zurückkehren. (Fall back to defensive positions. We will reassess our strategy and return to the Noplos City.)" Keitel reluctantly ordered this battle be lost. They think Panther II has a capability similar to their Nebelparder. However, Panther II has more capability than their outdated panzers.
As the enemy began to retreat, Lucullus took a moment to assess the situation. The battlefield was littered with the smoking wrecks of Jaguar tanks, a testament to the Panther II's superiority and his crew's skill. Valerius and his legionnaire's infantry unit await further orders to engage the enemy.
Cossono Town, Aeterna Region, 17 April 2141 / 17 Aprilis 1841, 07:50 am
Maximus watched the enemy retreating through the drones and his advanced binoculars, his eyes narrowing as he saw the Panthers and Pumas decimate the Jaguars. The battlefield around Cossono Town was a chaotic mess of smoldering wrecks and fleeing soldiers. Despite the carnage, Maximus felt no satisfaction. His objective was to repel the enemy, crush them decisively, and ensure they never posed a threat again.
"Legionnaires, the enemy is in retreat, but we must not let them escape! Lucullus, Valerius, I want you to pursue them relentlessly. Utilize the Panther IIs and Pumas to destroy their remaining tanks and engage any soldiers resisting capture. Snipers kill the enemy soldiers who still resist us. Show no mercy to those who defy us, but treat the surrendered ones well. We are not savages." Maximus orders to Lucullus and Valerius.
"Yes, Legatus. Pursue the enemy and cut them down." Lucullus and Valerius responds.
Maximus' orders echoed through the communication network. The legionnaires, seasoned by battle, responded with renewed vigor. Lucullus and Valerius quickly relayed the commands to their respective units.
Lucullus felt a surge of determination. He knew what was at stake and understood the need for swift action. The Panther II tanks roared to life, engines revving as they prepared to pursue the enemy.
"All units, advance! We must close the distance and eliminate the enemy's armored threat. Infantry, stay alert, and support our tanks. Let us finish this!" Lucullus' voice was steady and firm, a beacon of leadership amid the chaos.
The Panther IIs surged forward, their formidable presence starkly contrasting to the retreating Jaguar tanks. Their advanced targeting systems and powerful cannons gave them a distinct advantage, allowing them to engage the enemy at long range with devastating accuracy.
"Target acquired. Range: 1,500 meters. Ready to fire." Cornelius locked onto a retreating Jaguar II, his targeting system quickly calculating the optimal shot and ready to shoot.
"Fire!" Lucullus commanded.
The Panther II's cannon roared, sending an APFSDS-T round hurtling toward the Jaguar II. The projectile struck the enemy tank's rear, where the armor was weakest. The explosion sent the tank's turret flying, and a plume of smoke billowed into the air.
"Direct hit! Another enemy tank neutralized," Cornelius reported with satisfaction.
"Keep it up! We need to dismantle their forces completely," Lucullus urged, his eyes scanning for the next target.
"Another target. Loading APFSDS-T and finish the enemy panzers." Lucullus saw a retreating Jaguar I.
"APFSDS-T is loaded." Claudius.
"Target acquired. Range: 2,000 meters. Ready to fire." Cornelius reports.
"Fire!" Lucullus commanded.
The Panther II's cannon roared again, sending an APFSDS-T round hurtling toward the Jaguar I, penetrated and stopped their movement.
"Direct hit! Another enemy tank neutralized," Cornelius reported.
"Good job, Cornelius. We need to destroy more." Lucullus was satisfied with the result.
Valerius led the Pumas with equal determination, and the infantry units riding inside were ready for rapid deployment. As they approached the south outskirts of Cossono Town, Valerius could see enemy soldiers attempting to regroup and retreat.
"Pumas, dismount and engage! Infantry, follow me!" Valerius ordered.
The Pumas surged forward, their autocannons and machine guns creating a devastating barrage that forced the enemy into full retreat. Utilizing their superior training and equipment, the legionnaires moved in to mop up any remaining resistance.
The Legionnaires' pursuit intensified as they advanced through the ruined outskirts of Cossono Town. Dust and debris filled the air, making the environment challenging and a testament to the ferocity of the recent battle. Still low in the sky, the sun cast long shadows, adding an eerie dimension to the scene.
Maximus observed the battlefield with a steely gaze, his advanced binoculars and real-time information drones capturing every detail. He could see the Panther IIs tearing through the enemy's rear guard, their rounds smashing through armor with surgical precision. His attention shifted to Valerius, leading the Pumas and infantry with a disciplined fury that reflected the high standards he had set for his men.
"Lucullus, Valerius, status report," Maximus demanded through the communication network, his voice cutting through the static with authority.
"Legatus, we have neutralized approximately 80% of the enemy's armored units. The Panther IIs are pressing the attack, and we are targeting any remaining vehicles and strong points. Resistance is sporadic but diminishing rapidly." Lucullus, his face smeared with dust and sweat, responded first.
"Excellent work, Lucullus. Maintain pressure. Ensure no enemy armor escapes," Maximus replied a hint of approval in his voice.
"Legatus, we are engaging enemy infantry trying to regroup. Pumas have deployed, and our troops are in close combat. We are sweeping the area and securing prisoners. Resistance is stubborn but faltering." Valerius, leading his dismounted infantry through the rubble-strewn streets, responded next.
"Good. Ensure all prisoners are disarmed and secured. We need intelligence from them," Maximus instructed.
Lucullus's unit advanced methodically, the Panther IIs unleashing their firepower with relentless precision. Cornelius continued to call out targets, his targeting system locking onto fleeing enemy tanks and vehicles.
"Target acquired. Range: 2,200 meters. Enemy tanks attempting to retreat." Cornelius's voice was calm despite the chaos.
"Fire!" Lucullus commanded, his focus unwavering.
The cannon of the Panther II roared once more, the APFSDS-T round streaking through the air and striking the retreating Jaguar I. The explosion was immediate, and the enemy tank was engulfed in flames.
"Another confirmed kill," Cornelius reported, a note of grim satisfaction in his voice.
Lucullus allowed himself a brief moment of satisfaction before refocusing. "Keep pushing forward. We must clear this sector."
Valerius led his infantry through the smoking ruins, and his Pumas provided covering fire with their autocannons and machine guns. The sound of gunfire and explosions was a constant backdrop as they advanced.
"Squad Alpha, secure that building! Squad Bravo, flank left and cut off their retreat!" Valerius shouted, his voice rising above the din of battle.
The legionnaires moved with precision and purpose; their training was evident in their coordinated actions. Valerius raised his weapon as they approached a group of enemy soldiers trying to hold a defensive position.
"On my mark! Suppressive fire!" he commanded.
The legionnaires opened fire, their rifles and machine guns creating a wall of bullets that pinned the enemy down. Valerius signaled for a flanking maneuver, and his troops responded with practiced efficiency.
"Throwing frag!" A legionnaire shouted, tossing a grenade into the enemy position.
The explosion shattered the enemy's defenses, and Valerius ordered the charge, his order became the final judgement to the enemy. The remaining enemy soldiers, stunned by the ferocity of the attack from the legionnaires, surrendered quickly.
At the command post, Maximus received updates from his officers with a sense of pride mixed with the cold calculation of a seasoned commander.
"Lucullus, Valerius, continue to sweep the area. Ensure no enemy elements remain. Prepare for a debriefing once the area is secure," Maximus ordered.
"Yes, Legatus," came the simultaneous replies from his officers.
Aeterna Region, 17 April 2141 / 17 Aprilis 1841, 08:50 am
"Der Feind verfolgt uns immer noch, Kommandant. Wir brauchen Ordnung. (The enemy still pursues us, Commander. We need order.)" One of the remaining soldiers asked Commander Keitel.
"Ich.. Ich weiß nicht. (I.. I do not know.)" Commander Keitel was shocked about this situation.
"Kommandant, wir hatten keine Wahl. Ich schlage vor, wir ergeben uns dem Feind. (Commander, we did not have a choice. I suggest we surrender to the enemy.)" Hans suggests surrendering to the legionnaires.
"Bist du sicher, Hans? Wir sind hier die Bösen und unterstützen die Sklavenhalter. (Are you sure, Hans? We are a bad guy here, and we support the slavery faction.)" Commander Keitel responds.
"Wenn wir uns ergeben, haben wir immer noch eine Chance, Kommandant. Wenn wir weiterhin zurückweichen, wird der Feind uns verfolgen und alle töten. (If we surrender, we still have a chance, Commander. If we still retreat, the enemy will pursue and kill all of us.)" Captain Vogel is a panicking comment.
Commander Keitel knows that if they still retreat, the enemy will pursue them, and there is a possibility that they will run out of fuel and be executed by the legionnaires. However, if they surrendered, they still have a chance to survive.
"In Ordnung. Wir werden uns ergeben. Alle verbleibenden Einheiten stoppen die Lastwagen und werfen eure Waffen. Wir ergeben uns. (All right. We will surrender. All remaining units stop the trucks and throw your weapons. We are surrendered.)" Commander Keitel's final orders to surrender.
Then, all remaining units stopped and threw their weapons as a sign of surrender.
"We are surrendered. Please, spare my soldier." Commander Keitel said in Common Language.
Aeterna Region, 17 April 2141 / 17 Aprilis 1841, 09:15 am
Maximus stood on a slight rise, overlooking the battlefield before him. Smoke curled into the sky from burning wrecks, and the air was thick with the acrid smell of spent ammunition and scorched metal. He watched the enemy's surrender with a mixture of relief and suspicion. Despite their retreat, he knew the battle was far from over.
His eyes scanned the battlefield through his binoculars, noting the clusters of enemy soldiers throwing down their weapons and raising their hands in surrender. The sight brought a grim satisfaction; the enemy had been broken and now lay at his mercy. Nevertheless, Maximus remained vigilant, wary of any trickery.
"Legatus, the enemy appears to be surrendering," Lucullus's voice crackled over the comms, confirming what Maximus saw.
"Maintain formation and approach with caution. Ensure they are disarmed and pose no threat," Maximus ordered, his voice steely.
Lucullus acknowledged and directed his troops to move forward carefully. The Panther IIs and infantry advanced, surrounding the surrendering enemy units. The once-defiant enemy soldiers now stood in dejected clusters, hands raised, weapons discarded on the ground.
Valerius, leading the infantry, approached the group of enemy commanders. His sharp eyes assessed them with a mix of contempt and curiosity. The enemy commander, Keitel, stepped forward, his posture one of resignation but not defeat.
"My name is Commander Keitel. Please spare my soldiers. If you want punishment, please only execute me. They are only following my orders." Commander Keitel tries to save his unit.
"Commander Keitel, I presume," Valerius said, his voice cold and authoritative. "You are now prisoners of the Fortisregnum Empire Legion. You will be treated according to the rules of war, provided you offer no resistance."
Keitel nodded, his face drawn and weary. "We surrender as a sign of our acknowledgment of defeat. I request that my men be treated with respect and according to the conventions of war."
Valerius's eyes narrowed, but he nodded. "Your cooperation will ensure fair treatment. Any attempt to resist will be met with force."
He signaled his troops, who swiftly moved in to secure the prisoners, disarming them and leading them away. The legionnaires were methodical, their discipline a stark contrast to the chaos of the battlefield.
Outside of Cossono Town, Aeterna Region, 17 April 2141 / 17 Aprilis 1841, 09:30 am
Back at the command post, Maximus received reports from his officers detailing the successful capture of the enemy forces. He listened intently, his expression revealing nothing of his inner thoughts.
"Legatus, the enemy commander, Keitel, and his men have surrendered. They are being processed and disarmed. No signs of further resistance," Lucullus reported, his voice steady.
Maximus nodded, his mind already moving to the next phase of operations. "Good work, Lucullus. Ensure all prisoners are secured and interrogated for any helpful intelligence. We need to understand their movements and plans fully."
"Yes, Legatus. We will begin the interrogations immediately," Lucullus replied.
Maximus turned to his adjutant, a young officer named Marcus, who stood at attention nearby. "Marcus, prepare a report for High Command. Detail our actions, the enemy's surrender, and our current status. Emphasize our need for resupply and reinforcements to secure this region fully."
Marcus saluted and quickly set to work, his fingers flying over his data slate as he compiled the necessary information.
Maximus allowed himself a brief moment of reflection. The battle had been fierce, and the enemy's determination had been evident. However, his legionnaires had proven their mettle once again. The victory at Cossono Town would significantly blow the enemy's morale and capabilities.
The battle's aftermath was a grim tableau in the ruins of Cossono Town. Once a bustling hub, the town lay in ruins, its streets littered with war debris. Legionnaires moved through the town, securing the area and tending to the wounded.
Valerius, now overseeing the processing of prisoners, moved with purpose through the makeshift holding area. The enemy soldiers, stripped of their weapons, sat in sullen groups, their eyes downcast. Valerius's gaze hardened as he approached Keitel, who sat apart from his men, expressing his weary resignation.
"Commander Keitel, your cooperation will be noted in the report to our superiors," Valerius said, his tone formal.
Keitel looked up, his eyes filled with defiance and defeat. "We fought as best we could. Your forces were... overwhelming."
Valerius nodded curtly. "War is seldom fair. Your survival now depends on your willingness to provide information. Do not waste this opportunity."
Keitel's shoulders slumped, but he gave a brief nod. "Very well. I will cooperate."
Valerius turned away, his mind already on the following tasks: The prisoners must be transported to a secure location and their equipment salvaged. The town itself required fortification and rebuilding, a task that would fall to the legion's engineers and support units.
Command Post, Cossono Town, Aeterna Region, 17 April 2141 / 17 Aprilis 1841, 10:30 am
Now seated in his command post, Maximus reviewed the reports coming in from his officers. Thanks to their lightning and decisive attack, the victory was comprehensive, but he knew the war was far from over. The enemy's capabilities and intentions needed to be understood fully, and their remnants pursued and eliminated.
He leaned back in his chair, his thoughts turning to the broader strategic picture. The Aeterna Legion had secured a significant victory, but the enemy's resolve could not be underestimated. The road ahead was fraught with challenges, and Maximus was determined to face them with the same unyielding resolve that had brought them victory today.
"Marcus, ensure the reports are sent to High Command promptly. I want a full assessment of our current position and needs by the end of the day," Maximus ordered.
Marcus saluted his expression, one of determination and efficiency. "Yes, Legatus. I will see to it immediately."
Maximus watched his adjutant depart, then turned to the map before him. The battle at Cossono Town was a chapter in the larger civil war that demanded unwavering resolve and strategic acumen.
Maximus steeled himself for the challenges ahead as the sun climbed higher in the sky, casting its harsh light over the battlefield. The elite Fortisregnum Empire Legion had triumphed today, but the war's demands were relentless. Victory required constant vigilance, and Maximus was ready to lead his men through whatever lay ahead.
