Secret Hangar II, Pampoi Region, 12 April 2141 / 12 Aprilis 1841, 10:00 pm
Seven days later, the installation of the recon devices on the Bi-52 fighters was complete. Mr. 07 and Mr. 06 stood in the hangar, watching as the final touches were made on the aircraft. The look of the Bi-52s glinted under the hangar lights, now equipped with the latest prototype night recon devices from the People's Republic of Uroslav. Mr. 06 brought it from the motherland as the rejected prototype device so they could install it in the Black Shadow aircraft.
"The installation is complete. Now, it is time to test these devices around the Pampoi Region. I have assigned Black Shadow pilots for the task. Their experience will be crucial in evaluating the performance of the recon devices." Mr. 07 reported about the successfully installed recon device in Bi-52 fighters.
"Good. We need to ensure these devices are fully operational before the assault on Aeterna City. Let us monitor the test flights closely." Mr. 06 responded about the successful installation.
Initially, this prototype recon device will be installed in the jet fighters. However, they will lose precious airpower because they lack jet fighters, and if it shoots down, the technology will be lost and can be captured by the enemy. After the loss of several aircraft from native agents of UT ISIA, they need to conserve the aircraft for the next attack on Aeterna City. Then, they installed the device in Bismarck-52 (Bi-52) monoplane fighters from Weltenkraft Reich.
The elite and skilled Black Shadow pilots prepared for the mission. They climbed into the cockpits of the Bi-52 fighters, their dark uniforms blending with the hangar's shadows. The engines roared to life with a low rumble, and the fighters taxied to the runway.
As the fighters took off and disappeared into the night sky, Mr. 06 and Mr. 07 headed to the command center to monitor the mission. The screens flickered to life, showing the real-time feeds from the recon devices.
The Bi-52 fighters continued their test flight, scanning the region with their new devices. The pilots reported back, confirming the effectiveness of the night recon devices. The images and data streamed back to the command center, revealing enemy positions and potential hazards along the route to Noplos City.
"This is Shadow One. The recon devices are operational. We are getting high-resolution images of the terrain below. No interference or signal loss so far." The first pilot, codename Shadow One, reports about the high-resolution images of the terrain.
Thanks to the advanced science technology of the People's Republic of Uroslav, the device could give high-resolution images of the captured terrain for recon missions.
"Shadow Two here. Detection capabilities are excellent. If they attack us, we are picking up on potential ambush points for the enemy. Even the movement of big animals could detected below. The devices are also recording everything in real-time."The second pilot, codename Shadow Two, reports the device's good detection, even though they could detect the movement of big animals below.
"That is Good to hear. Are there any issues with the devices overheating or malfunctioning?" Mr. 06 asked about the potential problem of the recon devices.
"Negative, Command. The devices are maintaining optimal temperature. All systems are green." Shadow One reported that no problem had happened with the recon device.
"We just passed over a heavily forested area. The recon devices provided clear visuals even through dense foliage. This performance will be crucial for navigating similar terrain during the assault." Shadow two reported on the performance detection and visual of the recon device.
"Excellent work. Continue your sweep and return to base. We need to compile all this data for our next move." Mr. 06 told the pilots to continue their mission and return to base.
The Bi-52 fighters completed their mission and returned to the base, landing smoothly on the runway. The pilots debriefed with Mr. 06 and Mr. 07, sharing their experiences and feedback on the recon devices.
"We will work on improving the communication systems. For now, let us compile the data and prepare our strategy for the next operation as preparation for attacking the Aeterna City." Mr. 07 responds.
"Our pilots have reached the area around the Pampoi Region. The night recon devices are performing well. The images are clear, and we get detailed information about the terrain and possible threats if we recon in Noplos Region and Aeterna Region." Mr. 06 said that the night recon device could report
"This is promising. However, we need to address the issue of real-time communication. If these aircraft are shot down, we will lose all the gathered intel." Mr. 07 responds.
"Yes, we need more data to improve these devices. I hope the enemy can not detect our aircraft." Mr. 06 commend.
"Tomorrow morning, we will report this result to Mr. 03 and Duke Romulus in Noplos City. I hope we can conduct tests in the Noplos and Aeterna regions before the attack." Mr. 07 hopes they can conduct recon missions in the Noplos and Aeterna regions.
Secret Advanced Radar Facilities, Aeterna City, 12 April 2141 / 12 Aprilis 1841, 11:00 pm
Unknown to the Slavery Faction army and Black Shadow, the advanced radar of the United Terran in Aeterna City detected their activities. This information was forwarded to the command center of the UT ISF in Aeterna City.
"Sir, we detected unknown aircraft flying around the Pampoi Region. We assume that these aircraft are the aircraft from the Black Shadow." Lieutenant Mario Inzaghi, a radar operator, reports to his commander about the detected aircraft.
"Do you know what type of enemy aircraft? So the enemy sent the aircraft in this Civil War." Lieutenant Colonel Sergio Maldini, commander of the Air Defense Command Center of UT ISF in Aeterna City, asked Lieutenant Inzaghi.
"Based on the satellite image, the aircraft resembles German Fighters in World War II, Focke Wulf (FW) 190. However, some devices are different from the original FW 190. After I scanned this device, it resembled the camera of the soviet union during the Cold War era." Lieutenant Inzaghi explained the device in the Bi-52 fighter as historical aircraft technology.
"How strange that fighter resembles WWII Germany installed by recon devices from the Cold War Soviet Union. Could we shoot down that aircraft with our current installed SAM in that range?" Lieutenant Colonel Maldini asked about the possibility of shooting down enemy fighters.
"Negative, Sir. We only installed the outdated Patriot Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (PTHAAD) missile system. We could only shoot down the enemy if they were under 300 km around Aeterna City. They are operated in the Pampoi Region, 700 km from Aeterna City, so we only detected them." Lieutenant Paolo Nesta, the SAM operator, reported to Lieutenant Colonel Sergio.
"I see. Tell Colonel Ermey about this information. I hope the newly trained legionnaire pilots can show their performance in their new jet fighters. The enemy will soon come to us, so we will welcome them with our missiles. Ensure that our SAM is ready to launch." Lieutenant Colonel Maldini orders to inform Colonel Ermey about the incoming enemy aircraft and prepare the SAM as the defense system in Aeterna City.
"Yes, Sir. We will inform Colonel Ermey and prepare the SAM system." Lieutenant Inzaghi and Nesta respond.
Noble Palace, Noplos City, 13 April 2141 / 13 Aprilis 1841, 10:00 am
The following day, Mr. 03 and Duke Romulus gathered in the command center to discuss the results and plan their next move while communicating with Mr. 06 through a radio device.
"Mr. 06, How about the test flight last night? Did you get valuable information and good results? Mr. 03 asked Mr. 06 through a radio device.
"The recon devices have proven valuable. We have identified enemy positions and potential threats. We need to formulate our strategy for the assault on Aeterna City. We could use our aircraft to recon the enemy. However, we cannot fly near the city because we assume United Terran will install anti-air guns to defend Aeterna City." Mr. 06 responded about the recon device's performance during the test flights last night.
"Agreed. We should use this intel to our advantage and plan a precise, coordinated attack. Our troops are ready, and we have the resources from Noplos City to support our campaign." Duke Romulus talked about the remaining resources from the people of Noplos City who evacuated to Aeterna City.
"We will also request additional equipment and armored units from Mr. 07. Ensuring our forces are well-equipped is crucial for the upcoming battle. However, we must stay vigil that the enemy operatives could raid our troops again during the transfer." Mr. 06 discussed additional weapons, equipment, and armored units from Pampoi City.
"You are right, Mr. 06. We cannot conduct aerial recon near Aeterna City. If their operatives utilized advanced weapons, we could assume they would install "Homing Arrow" or missiles in Aeterna City. Let us finalize our plans and brief our commanders. We must be cautious and prepare for any counterattacks from United Terran. We cannot afford to underestimate their capabilities." Mr. 03 commented about the advanced weapons from the United Terran and the potential threat to the Black Shadow aircraft.
"Our forces are prepared, but we must strike with precision. Any miscalculation could lead to heavy losses. We cannot afford to waste modern resources from the Black Shadow. How about we test enemy air defense with our wyvern? Even though we know we will lose them, we could evaluate enemy anti-air guns through this mission." Duke Romulus suggests utilizing wyvern riders to know the performance of enemy anti-air guns.
"Good idea, Duke Romulus. Could you prepare your wyvern raider squadrons to conduct a recon mission to know the type of enemy anti-air guns? Even though this mission will sacrifice your wyvern raiders, we could use the information to further strategy." Mr. 03 responds and advises Duke Romulus to prepare the Wyvern rider squadrons.
"Yes, Mr. 03. I will prepare the wyvern rider squadrons. Tomorrow, we could conduct the first aerial recon with Wyvern squadrons." Duke Romulus responds.
"Mr. 03 is correct. After we learn about enemy anti-air guns, we can conduct air raids to destroy enemy air defenses and potential ambush from the enemy." Mr. 06 comment
"Agreed. Our primary objective is to disable the enemy anti-air defenses. Without neutralizing those, our air support will be rendered ineffective. We utilize wyvern squadrons to conduct the first recon mission. Even if this squadron is wiped out, we could conduct the next mission with the new information about enemy anti-air guns with our aircraft. We can deploy our modern aircraft to remove their anti-air gun sites and the possibility of radar installations." Mr. 03 responds about destroying enemy anti-air guns in Aeterna City.
"I will inform Mr. 07 in Pampoi City to prepare our fighter aircraft and possibly bombers to air raid enemy defense positions in Aeterna City. Duke Romulus, we will reward your wyvern rider highly for their sacrifice." Mr. 06 responds by asking Mr. 07 to prepare the modern aircraft and Duke Romulus to prepare the wyvern rider and appreciating them for their sacrifice.
"All right, Mr. 03 and Mr. 06. I will inspect our wyverns to ready for recon mission tomorrow." Duke Romulus then went to the wyvern nest occupied by the Slavery Faction army in Noplos City.
"Mr. 06, tell Mr. 07 to prepare our Leninium (Len-80) jet fighters. I fear United Terran will send their aircraft to intercept the wyverns and fighters from Weltenkraft Reich. Only the Len-80 is capable of fighting enemy jet fighters. Also, prepare Tomnyy Rytsar's units to conduct recon missions again. Be careful that enemy power will be stronger around Aeterna Region." Mr. 03 orders Mr. 06 to tell Mr. 07 to prepare Len-80 jet fighters and Tomnyy Rytsar's units to conduct a ground recon mission.
"Yes, Sir. I will inform Mr. 07 to prepare our Len-80 jet fighters and Commander Ivankov to conduct a reconnaissance mission in the Aeterna Region area." Mr. 06 responds.
"Good, we will wait for your good news. Ensure that our jet fighters are ready after we get information about enemy anti-air defense. Also, I authorize sending Stalinium (Sta-80) Main Battle Tanks to Noplos City with a strict escort from Tomnyy Rytsar's unit." Mr. 03 authorized Mr. 06 to operate Sta-80 MBT and was escorted by Tomnyy Rytsar's units.
"Yes, Sir. We will prepare the Sta-80 MBT and escort it with Tomnyy Rytsar's unit." Mr. 06 responds.
After several discussions, Mr. 03 closed the military strategic planning meeting and prepared to inspect the troops before attacking the Aeterna Region.
Secret Advanced Radar Facilities, Aeterna City, 13 April 2141 / 13 Aprilis 1841, 09:00 am
Colonel Ermey, the newly appointed military attaché of United Terran in the Fortisregnum Empire, arrived at the advanced radar facilities. His arrival was met with urgency, as the information about the enemy aircraft detected the previous night needed immediate attention.
"Colonel Ermey, thank you for coming on such short notice. We have detected enemy aircraft in the Pampoi Region. The radar data indicates they use modified monoplane fighters resembling WWII German Fighters equipped with advanced recon devices." Lieutenant Colonel Sergio Maldini saluted Colonel Ermey and told him about the enemy aircraft from the radar.
."What do we know about these recon devices? How much of a threat do they pose to our operations?" Colonel Ermey examined the radar screen, his expression severe, and asked about the potential of this recon device.
"The recon devices appear more advanced than the fighter's technology, providing the enemy with detailed terrain data and identifying potential threats. They seem to be of Uroslavian origin, which suggests a significant technological leap for the enemy." Lieutenant Mario Inzaghi explained the device while displaying the captured radar images on a larger screen.
"We need to neutralize these aircraft before they can relay critical intel back to their base if they tried to conduct a mission in the Aeterna region. Our SAM systems are limited by range, so we need a more strategic approach. I will set several Flakpanzer Gepard and 40 mm Bofors anti-air guns outside Aeterna City to shoot down enemy threats from wyverns and aircraft. However, if they send jet fighters, I hope you could launch missiles to shoot down their jet fighters. If we detect an enemy bomber, I will dispatch Heraclius and his legionnaires in Me 262M to intercept the enemy." Colonel Ermey nodded thoughtfully.
"We have prepared our SAM systems and are ready to launch on the situation. However, the enemy aircraft are operating outside our immediate range, so direct engagement is currently not an option. We will coordinate with the legionnaires pilot about the incoming aerial threat such as wyverns, fighters, and bombers." Lieutenant Paolo Nesta reports the combat readiness of the SAM system and will coordinate with the legionnaires pilot.
"Good. We must intercept and disrupt enemy attack operations. Lieutenant Colonel Maldini, I want our best pilots ready to scramble immediately if the enemy starts to conduct air strike, so the coordination between the command center and the pilot must be good. Increase and intensify radar and satellite detection in areas around the Pampoi Region and deploy reconnaissance drones to gather more intel. We need to stay one step ahead of them." Colonel Ermey orders Lieutenant Colonel Sergio to give actual information about the enemy air attack and coordination with the legionnaires in Aeterna City.
Colonel Ermey's orders were met with a flurry of activity. Lieutenant Colonel Sergio Maldini swiftly turned to relay the commands to his subordinates.
"Lieutenant Mario Inzaghi, prepare the reconnaissance drones for immediate deployment. Focus on the Pampoi Region and gather as much intel as possible on enemy movements. Ensure real-time data feed to our command center," Lieutenant Colonel Maldini instructed, his voice calm yet urgent.
Lieutenant Mario Inzaghi nodded and hurried to his station, where he began coordinating the drone launches. The hum of machines and the rapid tapping of keyboards filled the room as the advanced radar facilities sprang into action.
"All SAM operators, report status. Missiles are ready. The homing device is ready. The radar and tracking System is ready. Launch platforms are on standby. The power supply for the missile launcher is ready. All system ready. We ready for incoming aerial threat, Sir." Lieutenant Nesta reports that SAM's support system is ready and in the highest combat readiness condition.
"Good. Inform the Flakpanzer and anti-air guns unit to be ready and positioned around the Aeterna City. Also, take some infantry from the legionnaires and Panther II MBT to cover them if the enemy ground units attack them." Colonel Ermey orders.
"Anti-Air Legionnaires Force, This is Air Defense Command Center. Send Flakpanzer Gepard and 40 mm Bofor cannons units to take positions outside Aeterna City. Coordinate with ground teams to ensure optimal coverage from enemy aerial threats. We will send you the possible points of the incoming enemy aerial wyverns and aircraft. This action is not a drill. This action is not a drill. Conduct with the highest caution and wait for the next orders. Over." Lieutenant Inzaghi commanded the newly formed Anti-Air Legionnaires Force through the modern intercom.
"This is Litorius, Anti-Air Legionnaires Force Commander. Affirmative, we will send three Flakpanzer Gepards and two 40 mm Bofor cannons. Guide us to the target points. Over." Litorius, an elite legionnaire who got modern training in UT ISF and became the commander of Anti-Air Force Legionnaires, responded to Lieutenant Inzaghi's orders.
"I already send you the coordinate. Go to 250 km of Aeterna City to set air defense against enemy air threats. If they outnumber you and you need additional support attack, we will help to launch SAM from Aeterna City. Orders from Colonel Ermey to coordinate with Infantry and Armored Legionnaires Force to send infantry and Panther II to cover you if the enemy try to attack you with ground units. Over." Lieutenant Inzaghi sends the coordinate through a command device to Litorius and tells them to coordinate with newly Armored Force Legionnaires to get protection from enemy ground attacks.
"Affirmative. We will coordinate with Infantry Force Legionnaires and Armored Force Legionnaires. We will advance to the coordinate position four hours from now. Over." Litorius responds.
"This is only my opinion. Remember to carry frangible armor-piercing discarding sabot (FAPDS) rounds if you fight against the thick armor of enemy dragons and possible enemy tanks. Over." Lieutenant Inzaghi reminds Litorius to carry FAPDS rounds for FlakPanzer Gepard.
"Affirmative. Thank you for your reminder. We will carry FAPDS rounds against the enemy's thick armor. I am out." Litorius responds to end the communication.
After that, Lieutenant Inzaghi informs the Commanders of the Infantry Legionnaires Force and Armored Legionnaires Force, Valerius, and Lucullus, about the formation of integrated forces of Anti-Air, Infantry, and Armored Legionnaires Force during the incoming battle with the slavery faction army.
"Infantry and Armored Legionnaires Force, this is Air Defense Command Center. Colonel Ermey ordered the two legionnaires' force to support and cover the Anti-Air Legionnaires Force from enemy ground attacks. You aim to ensure the Anti-Air Force can operate and shoot down the incoming enemy air threat. Over." Lieutenant Inzaghi inform Valerius and Lucullus.
"This is Valerius, Commander of Infantry Legionnaires Force. Affirmative, we will send infantry consisting of riflemen, machine-gunners, and snipers to cover and support the Anti-Air Legionnaires Force. Over." Valerius responds.
"This is Lucullus, Commander of Armored Legionnaires Force. Affirmative, we will send two Panther II MBTs and three Puma IFVs to give ground support to the Anti-Air Legionnaires Force. Over." Lucullus responds.
"All of you have four hours to prepare your weapons and equipment and advance with Anti-Air Legionnaires Force. Remember, this is your first battle against enemy troops with modern weapons and equipment. I hope you are successful in this mission and defeat the tyranny of the slavery faction army. Over." Lieutenant Inzaghi prayed and hoped for the success of the legionnaire's first battle.
"Affirmative. Thank you. We will do our best for our Empire and show the true terror to the slavery faction army. We are out." Lucullus and Varelius responds.
Colonel Ermey watched the operations keenly, his mind racing with strategic calculations. The threat posed by the enemy's advanced and modern recon devices and aircraft was significant, and the margin for error was slim.
"Lieutenant Colonel Maldini, how soon can we expect the reconnaissance data from our drones?" Colonel Ermey inquired, his gaze fixed on the radar screens displaying the positions of friendly and enemy units.
"We should have preliminary data within two hours, Colonel. Even though more outdated than our standard drones, this recon drone is still some of the fastest and most advanced in the current Luminarum hyperpower and superpower nations. They still utilize stealth performance, thanks to their nanomaterial component." Lieutenant Colonel Maldini responded confidently.
As the hour and minutes ticked by, tension hung heavy. The radar screens flickered with activity, each blip representing potential threats or crucial intel. Suddenly, a burst of static followed by a clear transmission cut through the noise.
"Command, this is Recon Drone Alpha. We have visuals of enemy aircraft. We are confirming the presence of modified monoplane fighters and additional recon devices. There is no visual on bombers or jet fighters yet. Uploading data now," the drone operator reported.
Colonel Ermey leaned closer to the main screen, analyzing the incoming data. The enemy fighters were indeed clustered around strategic points in the Pampoi Region, their recon devices likely scanning for weaknesses.
"Lieutenant Paolo Nesta, have our SAM systems target these fighters and any potential aerial threats once they enter our range. Maintain readiness for potential bomber or jet fighter threats. Lieutenant Mario Inzaghi, I need constant updates on enemy positions through radar and satellites." Colonel Ermey commanded with precision.
"Yes, Colonel. We will do our best." both Nesta and Inzaghi responded in unison.
"Lieutenant Colonel, inform Heraclius and his legionnaire's pilots. They need to be on high alert. If the enemy jet fighters and bombers approach us, I want them intercepted immediately." Colonel Ermey turned his attention back to Lieutenant Colonel Maldini and ordered him to inform Heraclius and the legionnaire's pilots to be ready if the enemy conducted a massive aerial attack with jet fighters and bombers.
"Understood, Colonel. I will have them on standby," Lieutenant Colonel Maldini replied, already moving to the communication console.
As the operation progressed, the command center buzzed with efficiency. The coordinated efforts between the radar facilities, ground teams, and airborne units were a testament to modern United Terran's military prowess to help Emperor Aurelius in the Civil War against the slavery faction army.
Wyvern Nest, Noplos City, 14 April 2141 / 14 Aprilis 1841, 09:00 am
Duke Romulus inspects his wyvern riders before the launch. He and the riders know this is a suicide mission against a powerful nation like the United Terran that supported Emperor Aurelius during the Civil War. However, they cannot retreat and must obtain valuable information about enemy defense in Aeterna City before modern aircraft and bombers fly from Pampoi City to attack Aeterna City.
Duke Romulus stood in front of his wyvern riders with a determined expression. One hundred and twenty wyverns and riders were ready to take the missions. They split into ten wyvern squadrons for the recon missions. The riders, clad in armor that glinted in the morning light, looked back at him with a mix of resolve and anticipation. Their wyverns, powerful creatures with scales that ranged from deep green to midnight blue, shifted restlessly, sensing the tension in the air.
"Riders! Today, we embark on a mission of great importance. We aim to gather crucial intelligence about the enemy's air defenses in Aeterna City. This mission will be dangerous, but your bravery and skill are unmatched. Remember, the information we obtain will be vital for our upcoming assault." Duke Romulus's voice carried across the nest, firm and commanding.
The riders nodded, their expressions resolute. They knew the risks, but their loyalty to Duke Romulus and determination to see the slavery faction army defeated outweighed their fear.
"Prepare your wyverns and ensure all equipment is secure. We launch in thirty minutes." With that, Duke Romulus dismissed his riders to make final preparations.
The riders dispersed, each moving with purpose toward their wyverns. They double-checked their gear, securing saddles and harnesses, tightening straps, and ensuring their weapons were easily accessible. The air buzzed with anticipation and tension, the knowledge of their perilous mission weighing heavily on their minds.
Duke Romulus watched his riders with a mixture of pride and concern. He knew every one of them by name, having trained with them and fought alongside them through countless battles. His heart swelled with admiration for their unwavering loyalty and courage.
One of Duke Romulus's wyvern commanders is Pompius. He is a strong and quick man. He becomes a loyal servant and soldier to Duke Romulus. He approached his wyvern, a massive beast named Zephyr, with scales as dark as the night sky and eyes glowed with an otherworldly light.
Zephyr released a low rumble as Pompius approached, a sound of recognition and readiness. Pompius ran a hand along Zephyr's neck, feeling the powerful muscles beneath the scales.
"It is just another battle, my friend," he murmured, though he knew this mission was unlike any they had faced before.
As the riders completed their preparations, Romulus walked among them, offering encouragement and ensuring everyone was ready. His presence was a steadying force, a reminder of their purpose and the importance of their mission. He then walked to Commander Pompius and gave him a new communication and recon device from Mr. 03.
"Pompius, this is a new communication device from the Black Shadow. Put it in your ear, and we will check it first. Also, this is a portable recon device. You only aim this to the target and click this button to capture the picture." Duke Romulus gives Commander Pompius new communication and recon devices from Mr. 03
"Thank you, Your Grace. I will utilize this device and return to give the recon of enemy anti-air defense." Commander Pompius put the communication device in his ears and the recon device in his pocket.
Then Pompius walked 500 meters from Duke Romulus to try the performance of the communication devices.
"Test.. Test.. Pompius, can you hear me?" Duke Romulus tried to test the device and called Pompius.
"Wow, that is amazing, Your Grace. I can hear your voice." Pompius responds.
"Good. This device could transfer your voice in 500 km so that you could report the condition of the enemy's anti-air defense to us. Now, test the recon device. You could click the zoom button to zoom in and out before taking the picture from the device." Duke Romulus orders Pompius to take a picture from the recon device.
Pompius then aims his recon device at a group of riders and their wyverns and clicks the button. Suddenly, the picture appears on the screen of the device. He was amazed by the performance of the new recon device from Black Shadow. They did not use mana and magic power, but the material they call 'battery.' He also clicks the zoom button to zoom in on the picture from afar. Even if the picture from the far range is not as good as the near range, they still can take valuable information from enemy anti-air defense. He knows that taking a picture from near range is impossible because the anti-air defense of United Terran's modern weapons will shoot down them. He knows that United Terran sends their modern weapons to Legionnaires, which is on par with weapons from hyperpower and superpower nations. So, he and his wyvern riders need to be more cautious.
"Remember, Pompius, you must return safely to Noplos City. Do not engage the enemy. Even if you sacrifice your soldiers, you must return with new information about enemy anti-air power." Duke Romulus reminds Pompius about his essential mission.
Pompius was silent for several minutes. He knows the burden of this mission, but he must succeed at all costs. He even had to sacrifice his comrades to return safely with valuable information about the enemy.
"Yes, Your Grace. I will return and give you information about the enemy's power." Pompius responds by encouraging himself to take on this mission.
"Good. Now return to your comrades, and may Gods help you." Duke Romulus's final order.
Pompius then bows to Duke Romulus and returns to his comrades. He must succeed in this mission and give valuable information for the further strategy of the Slavery Faction Army.
Finally, the time came to launch. The riders mounted their wyverns, their faces set with determination. Pompius climbed onto Zephyr's back, feeling the familiar surge of adrenaline as he settled into the saddle. He raised his hand, signaling for silence, and the nest fell quiet.
"Remember, we fly as one. We are not just riders but a force united by our cause. Trust in your wyverns, trust in each other, and trust in our mission. We will succeed because we must." Pompius said, his voice carrying across the assembly.
Pompius lowered his hand with a final nod, and the riders urged their wyverns into the air. The creatures took flight with powerful beats of their wings, rising into the sky with a roar that echoed across the nest. They soared upward, forming a tight formation as they headed towards Aeterna City.
The flight was both exhilarating and nerve-wracking. The riders kept a vigilant watch, scanning the skies for any sign of enemy forces. The landscape below passed in a blur, a patchwork of forests, rivers, and fields giving way to the imposing mountains that marked the border between the Noplos and Aeterna regions.
Secret Advanced Radar Facilities, Aeterna City, 14 April 2141 / 14 Aprilis 1841, 10:00 am
After Commander Pompius and his wyvern squadrons took off and flew, secret radar in Aeterna City detected the wyverns' movements to the Aeterna Regions. This movement alerted the activity in the Air Defense Command Center.
Colonel Ermey and Lieutenant Colonel Maldini stood in the command center, eyes fixed on the radar screen, which picked up the wyvern squadrons moving toward Aeterna City. The tension was palpable as the operators relayed the information.
"Colonel Ermey, we have detected many aerial targets moving toward us from the Noplos region. It appears to be the wyvern squadrons from the enemy." Lieutenant Colonel Maldini reported about the movement of Wyvern squadrons to the Aeterna Region.
"I see. The enemy is ready to launch the first air attack on Aeterna City. Lieutenant Inzaghi informs Litorius to prepare the Flakpanzer Gepard and 40 mm Bofors units on high alert. Ensure our radar is feeding real-time data to the anti-air units. Lieutenant Nesta, prepare our SAM systems as additional air defense if the enemy outnumbers the Anti-Air Legionnaires Force. We will let them handle this air threat as their first battle with modern weapons." Colonel Ermey nodded, racing with the implications, and ordered Lieutenant Inzaghi to inform the Anti-Air Legionnaires Force to prepare a defense against the incoming wyvern air attack.
"Yes, Colonel. I will inform Commander Litorius immediately to prepare the air defense." Lieutenant Inzaghi responded, immediately relaying the orders to Commander Litorius.
"Anti-Air Legionnaires Force, This is Air Defense Command Center. We detected wyvern packs approximately 400 kilometers south of your current position as aerial threats coming to you. The estimated time of arrival (ETA) is 2 hours from now. Our radar is tracking their movement in real time, and we are feeding this data directly to your anti-air units. The wyverns maintain a steady course and speed, so we expect them to remain on this trajectory unless intercepted. Prepare the Flakpanzer Gepard and 40 mm Bofors units to be highly alert. Ensure all radar systems are synchronized and operational for maximum efficiency. Over." Lieutenant Inzaghi orders Commander Litorio about the incoming wyvern squadron's attack.
"This is Litorius. Thank you for the information, Command Center. All anti-air units will be highly alert and ready for the incoming threat. Keep the data stream constant and notify us immediately of any changes in their course or speed. Over." Litorius responds to the order from Lieutenant Inzaghi.
"We will launch SAM from Aeterna City if you are outnumbered and need additional air defense. Over." Lieutenant Inzaghi informed Litorius about the possibility of SAM support as additional air defense.
"Thank you. We will inform the Command Center if we need additional air defense. I am out." Litorius ends the communication and prepares his legionnaires for the enemy wyvern's attack.
Then, Colonel Ermey orders Lieutenant Nesta to launch reconnaissance drones to obtain real-time data on the enemy wyvern for the Anti-Air Legionnaires Force.
"Lieutenant Nesta, deploy our reconnaissance drones to gather visual confirmation and further intel on the incoming wyvern squadrons. We need to know their exact numbers and formations. Also, forward the real-time information to Litorius." Colonel Ermey continued.
"Understood, Colonel. Launching reconnaissance drones now." Lieutenant Nesta turned to his station and coordinated the drone launches.
"Attention, all crews. Ready to the battle station. We are preparing to launch the SR-01 stealth recon drone. This is not a drill. We are preparing to launch the SR-01 stealth recon drone. This is not a drill." The AI announcer in the command center informs all the crews to get ready in the battle station and launch the SR-01 stealth recon drone.
The command center was a hive of activity as the various teams worked in unison to prepare for the imminent threat. The radar screens displayed the approaching wyverns, each blip representing a potential threat to Aeterna City's defenses. At the same time, the drone crews were preparing to launch the SR-01 recon drone.
After several minutes, SR-01 was ready to launch. The drone operators are ready to control and launch the drones from the runway in the Command Center.
"Attention, all crews. SR-01 stealth recon drone ready to launch. Attention, all crews. SR-01 stealth recon drone ready to launch." The AI announcer informs the recon drone that it is ready to launch.
After successfully taking off, SR-01 flies and activates its stealth system. Even though SR-01 was an outdated recon drone during the first era of forming of United Terran, it was still adequate to conduct recon missions against primitive technology nations. Then, SR-01 is ready to recon the real-time wyvern attack conditions.
"Colonel Ermey, all SAM systems are online and ready. SR-01 has already flown, and we will obtain real information about the enemy's wyvern position and condition for the Anti-Air Legionnaires Force." Lieutenant Nesta reported about the readiness of the SAM system and SR-01 to conduct a recon mission.
"Good. We need actual information for the legionnaires. Even though we could give them the data from satellites, we cannot disclose the space power to this world except for hyperpower nations. Connect the data from the recon drone to Litorius and guide them." Colonel Ermey responded, ensuring Lieutenant Nesta forwarded the information and guided the Anti-Air Legionnaires Force.
"Yes, Sir. After we get actual data from the drone, I will forward and guide Commander Litorius and the Anti-Air Legionnaires Force." Lieutenant Nesta responds.
"Sir, Commander Litorius and Anti-Air Legionnaires Force are already in position. Flakpanzer and Bofors units are in position and awaiting further instructions." Lieutenant Inzaghi reports that Anti-Air Legionnaires are ready in position and preparing against the incoming wyvern's attack.
"Good. We need to ensure our defenses are coordinated. Inform all units to hold fire until the wyverns are within optimal range. We cannot afford to waste ammunition. Coordinate with the actual position and coordinate from the drone so they could precisely shoot down enemy wyverns." Colonel Ermey responded and ensured Lieutenant Inzaghi informed Commander Litorious about coordination and shooting down the enemy based on actual data from the recon drone.
"Yes, Sir. I will inform him about the coordination and shooting based on the actual data from the recon drone." Lieutenant Inzaghi responds.
Combined Legionnaires Force Military Camp, Aeterna Region, 14 April 2141 / 14 Aprilis 1841, 11:00 am
The minutes ticked by, each second feeling like an eternity. The radar screens showed the wyverns drawing closer, their formation tight and disciplined. The tension in the Combined Legionnaires Force (CLF) main camp was palpable as everyone awaited the inevitable confrontation. Even though this operation is the combined force of Anti-Air, Infantry, and Armored Legionnaires Force, Commander Litorius becomes the field commander, and the Anti-Air Legionnaires Force is the main force that prevents enemy wyvern attack.
"Recon Drone Alpha, this is Litorius. Do you have a visual of the enemy wyvern squadrons? Over." Commander Litorius's voice crackled over the comms.
"Commander Litorius, this is Recon Drone Alpha. We have visuals of the enemy. They are confirming approximately ten squadrons, each with about twelve wyverns. They fly in a V formation, maintaining a steady altitude and speed. Upload visual data to your command device now. The estimated time of arrival (ETA) based on the enemy's speed is approximately thirty minutes. Command Center will guide you for further instruction. Over." the drone operator reported the size of the wyverns to Commander Litorius.
"Affirmative. Thank you for the information. I am out." Commander Litorius ended the calls.
The drone's live feed appeared on the main screen in CLF's main camp. Thanks to advanced and modern communication devices from the United Terran, the wyvern squadrons were soaring through the sky. The riders were visible, their armor glinting in the sunlight.
Commander Litorius stood in the command tent, his eyes fixed on the screen displaying the incoming wyvern squadrons. His forces were in position, the Flakpanzer Gepards and 40 mm Bofors units ready to engage. The combined force of Anti-Air, Infantry, and Armored Legionnaires stood poised for action, their resolve evident in their focused expressions.
"All units, this is Commander Litorius. We have visual confirmation of the enemy wyverns. Hold your positions and await further orders. Do not engage until they are within range. We need to make every shot count." Litorius's voice was steady, instilling confidence in his troops.
"Affirmative, Commander. Flakpanzer Gepards and Bofors units are positioned and ready to engage on your command." The response from his subordinates was prompt and precise, reflecting their training and readiness.
As the minutes ticked by, the tension in the air grew thicker. The wyvern squadrons continued their approach, drawing closer to the optimal engagement range. The real-time data from the recon drone provided crucial updates, allowing the combined forces to adjust their positions and prepare for the imminent battle.
Secret Advanced Radar Facilities, Aeterna City, 14 April 2141 / 14 Aprilis 1841, 11:15 am
While Litorius and Combined Legionnaires Force (CLF) are ready to engage the incoming wyvern attack, Colonel Ermey in the Defense Command Center is monitoring the preparation of CLF and the power of enemy wyverns.
"Lieutenant Nesta, keep monitoring the wyverns' movements. We must be ready to deploy the SAM systems if the situation escalates. Ensure that the data from the recon drone is continuously fed to the anti-air units." Colonel Ermey's voice cut through the tense atmosphere, ensuring every defense aspect was meticulously coordinated.
"Understood, Colonel. The SAM systems are on standby, and we are maintaining a constant data feed to the anti-air units." Lieutenant Nesta responded, his fingers flying over the keyboard as he ensured the seamless flow of information.
"Lieutenant Inzaghi, update Commander Litorius on the current position and ETA of the wyverns. Ensure all units are ready to engage when the enemy enters the engagement zone." Colonel Ermey continued, his strategic mind racing with calculations and contingencies.
"Yes, Colonel. Updating Commander Litorius now." Lieutenant Inzaghi replied, swiftly transmitting the latest data to the field commander.
Combined Legionnaires Force Military Camp, Aeterna Region, 14 April 2141 / 14 Aprilis 1841, 11:45 am
The wyverns were now within striking distance, their imposing forms filling the screens in the command tent. Commander Litorius took a deep breath, his hand poised over the comms device.
"All units, this is Commander Litorius. The enemy is within range. Prepare to engage on my command. Flakpanzer Gepards targets the lead squadrons. Bofors units focus on the rear formations. Infantry and armored units will be ready to provide ground support if needed. Engage!" Litorius's command was clear and decisive.

The battlefield erupted into action as the anti-air units unleashed a barrage of firepower. The Flakpanzer Gepards' rapid-firing autocannons filled the sky with a deadly hail of shells, while the Bofors units precisely targeted the rear formations. The coordinated assault was a testament to the combined forces' training and preparation, each unit working in unison to create a formidable wall of defense.
As the combined anti-air defense systems fired on the approaching wyverns, the skies above CLF main camp became a chaotic battle scene. Explosions erupted around the wyverns as shells streaked through the air. The wyvern riders skillfully maneuvered their mounts, attempting to evade the deadly barrage, but the precision and coordination of the anti-air units were formidable.
On the ground, Litorius FlakPanzer Gepard units try to shoot down the wyverns with their twin 35 mm Oerlikon autocannons. 'Drarararararara' sounds from the twin modified 35 mm Oerlikon autocannons become the sound of death of the vanguard of the wyvern riders formation. One on one of the vanguard of the wyvern and the riders fell after getting shot down by the Oerlikon autocannons. Thanks to the nanomaterial, nanocomposite, and nanotechnology power of the United Terran, modified frangible armor-piercing discarding sabot with tracer (MFAPDS-T) rounds of Flakpanzer Gepard have more penetration power and damage than standard FAPDS-T rounds.
Standard FAPDS-T rounds of Gepard penetration (approximately 133 mm at 10 m, 129 mm at 100 mm, 121 mm at 500 m, and 105 mm at 1000 m) while muzzle velocity is 1,400 m/s [1]. While upgraded with nanotechnology, nanomaterial, and nanocomposite, the penetration power rose to approximately 199.5 mm at 10 m, 193.5 mm at 100 m, 181.5 mm at 500 m, 157.5 mm at 1000 m, 126.5 mm at 2000 m and 110.25 at 3000 m. The scale thickness of the Fortisregnum Empire wyvern breed is 100 mm, so modified FAPDS-T is capable of penetrating and shooting down the wyverns in 2000 and 3000 m.

Figure 1. The art style of Commander Litorius and his teams shoot down the wyvern squadrons with Flakpanzer Gepard [2]
The vanguard wyvern rider tried to counterattack with a fireball from the wyvern. However, because they need to charge before shooting the fireball, they could be shot down by the rapid attack of the twin autocannons of Gepard. Even though they were interrupted by a harsh and rapid counterattack from Gepard autocannons, some wyverns could release fireballs to the nearest Gepard unit in the frontline.
The temperature of a wyvern fireball is approximately 800 degrees Celsius, which can burn a living body and damage metal. However, thanks to nanocomposite and nanomaterial technology, Flakpanzer Gepard has upgraded its reactive armor to withstand heat up to 1500 degrees Celsius because of its thermal insulation and shock absorption properties. The crews inside Gepard are safe; only the vehicle paint is damaged because of the high temperature of the fireball.
Litorius kept his gaze fixed on the monitors, watching the battlefield unfold. The precision of their defensive fire was impressive, but he knew the wyvern riders were not to be underestimated. They were skilled, resilient, and had a mission of their own.
"Infantry units, be ready to provide support to the anti-air units. Keep your eyes on the skies and the ground. Operate 40 mm Bofors cannon to give additional air attack." Litorius commanded the infantry through the comms.
The Bofors unit also releases their powerful modified 40 mm Bofors cannons to shoot down the wyverns. The penetration power of the modified FAPDS-T of 40 mm Bofor cannon is approximately 182 mm at 10 m, 169 mm at 100 m, 149 mm at 500 m, 123 mm at 1000 m, and 104 mm at 2000 m. Even though it has lower penetration than Gepard, 40 mm Bofor cannons have more damage because of their higher caliber. The 40 mm Bofor cannon also has more range than the 35 mm Oerlikon autocannon, so it can shoot down the wyvern in the rear formation.
After the Bofors join the fire, more than wyverns and their riders fall from the sky. 'Boom.. Boom Boom' from the 40 mm Bofor cannons become the additional death sound for the wyvern riders alongside 'Drararara... Drararara' from Gepard. Because they have more range than Gepard, the Bofor cannon operators are safer from the enemy riders' counterattack. Thanks to advanced digital aim, the modified 40 mm Bofor cannon accuracy is more precise than the standard Bofor cannon.
Despite the heavy fire and suffered significant losses, the wyverns pushed forward. Several riders try to evade the Bofors cannon, but the Gepard annihilates them.
Sky Above Combined Legionnaires Force Military Camp, Aeterna Region, 14 April 2141 / 14 Aprilis 1841, 11:55 am
Commander Pompius ordered his squadron from the rear to maintain focus amidst the chaos and slaughter by the CLF anti-air unit. He commanded his riders to spread out and take evasive actions. The wyverns twisted and turned, their mighty wings beating against the turbulence created by the explosions.
"Keep moving! We must get through their defenses and gather the intelligence we need!" Pompius's voice was resolute as he urged his riders to press on.
Flying near the CLF main camp resulting more wyvern, and their riders were shot down by Bofor cannon and Gepard of the CLF anti-air unit. Pompius and his riders knew they were mere pawns that Duke Romulus and Black Shadow sacrificed to conduct more airstrikes with aircraft. However, their loyalty to Duke Romulus becomes the highest priority in their life because Duke Romulus gives them a valuable and prosperous life. The wyvern riders' lives are only for Duke Romulus and the people of Pompei City. If they fail to obtain valuable information, the airstrike from Black Shadow will be hindered. In the worst case, if the airstrike failed, the air power and the first slavery faction army would be defeated, and the path to Pampoi City would be open. This result will become a disaster for their family in Pampoi City because they will be killed by the legionnaire's force when they attack the Pampoi City. So, failure is not an option, and at least Pompius must return with the valuable information.
The recon device in Pompius's pocket constantly reminded them of the importance of their mission. As they neared CLF's main camp, Pompius activated the device, capturing images of the enemy's anti-air defenses and positions from afar. Each button click was a small victory amidst the battle's intensity.
Combined Legionnaires Force Military Camp, Aeterna Region, 14 April 2141 / 14 Aprilis 1841, 12:00 pm
Back on the ground, Commander Litorius observed the battlefield with a grim determination. Despite the wyverns' resilience, the combined firepower of the Flakpanzer Gepards and the Bofors units was holding them at bay. However, he knew this was only the beginning. The wyvern riders' persistence indicated a more significant threat on the horizon.
"Maintain your positions! Do not let up on the firepower!" Litorius barked into the comms. The soldiers under his command responded with a resounding affirmation, their resolve unshaken despite the intensity of the conflict.
Commander Pompius continued his evasive maneuvers in the skies above, skillfully avoiding the barrage of anti-air fire. His eyes narrowed as he assessed the situation. The CLF defenses were formidable, but he was determined to break through.
"Squadron, follow my lead! We need to disperse and attack from multiple angles. Distract their firepower and give me cover to complete the recon!" Pompius commanded. His riders nodded in understanding, their faces set with determination.
The wyverns spread out, each rider taking a different trajectory to confuse and overwhelm the CLF's targeting systems. The air was filled with the roar of flak explosions and the screech of wyverns as they weaved through the barrage of shells and tracers. Some unfortunate wyverns and their riders remaining were hit by the FAPDS rounds from Gepard and Bofors cannons. Meanwhile, the other wyverns and riders try to cover Pompius from getting shot by the shrapnel.
Under massive attack from the ground, Pompius saw an opportunity and dove toward the ground, his wyvern twisting to avoid the flak. For safety reasons, he chants shield magic to cover himself and Zephnyr and reduce the damage from the shrapnel. After trying to get near the CLF main camp and seeing several legionnaire's anti-air guns and military weapons, he activated the recon device. He activated the recon device once more, capturing detailed images of the anti-air placements and the defensive layout of the camp. Fortunately, he can capture several Panther II MBT, Puma IFV, Flakpanzer Gepard, and 40 mm Bofor cannons. Also, he can capture the silhouette of infantry weapons of STG 44M, Gewehr 43M, and MG 42M in the CLF main camp.
"Almost there," he muttered, urging his mount to push harder. He knew the risk was immense, but the success of Duke Romulus's attack and the survival of his family and people depended on this information. As he neared the camp, the defensive fire grew more intense. Explosions rocked the air, and debris flew in all directions.
On the ground, Litorius noticed the sudden shift in the wyverns' tactics. "They are trying to scatter our fire! Stay focused and adapt your targets!" he ordered, his voice unwavering.
The CLF anti-air units adjusted their aim, and their sophisticated targeting systems tracked the dispersed wyverns. The sky lit up with a renewed intensity as the Gepards and Bofors units unleashed another wave of firepower.
Despite the overwhelming defense, Pompius managed to reach the outskirts of the camp. He activated the recon device for the final time, capturing the crucial data. "I have got it," he breathed, a mix of relief and determination.
"Riders, fall back! We have what we need!" Pompius commanded, signaling his squadron to retreat. The wyverns began to pull away, and their mission was accomplished despite the heavy losses. Even with an attempt to retreat, the shrapnel from Gepard and Bofors still shot down the small remaining from massive wyvern rider squadrons. Only three, including Pompius, from 121 wyverns and their riders could survive the onslaught by the modern weapons from CLF.
"They are falling back! Do not pursue! Hold your positions and maintain readiness! We could not waste the ammunition." he ordered. The CLF forces ceased their fire, the battlefield growing momentarily quiet. Litorius watched as the remaining wyverns retreated. He knows they will return with a massive army, but he and his CLF will be ready to fight against the incoming attack.
Litorius took a deep breath in the command tent, eyes scanning the monitors. "Prepare for a potential counterattack. This is not over yet," he said to his officers. They nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation.
Pompius and his remaining riders flew towards their rendezvous point, and the recon device clutched tightly in his hand.
"We did it, guys. Now, we have to get this back to Duke Romulus. Today, we suffer tremendous casualties. We lost 118 comrades but still have a chance to fight back. Duke Romulus and Black Shadow could attack and defeat the enemy with their modern power. May Gods give us victory. Phuff.. Huh.. Huh." Pompius coughed blood, and fresh blood seeped out of his shoulder.
Pompius gets hit by the shrapnel from FAPDS from Gepard, which penetrates his magic shields. Fortunately, the shrapnel only hit his shoulder, so it did not threaten his life. However, the intense condition of pushing the mana usage damages his lungs and heart to conserve the magic shield. He can hardly breathe, and intense pains in his shoulder make it worse. His Zephnyr also got hit by the shrapnel, and her legs got hit by FAPDS shrapnel that penetrated Pompius's magic shield. Even though they are heavily wounded, they will still prevail and return to Noplos City. Unknown to them, the SR-01 stealth recon drones followed them back to Noplos City.
Defense Command Center Facilities, Aeterna City, 14 April 2141 / 14 Aprilis 1841, 00:30 pm
After the battle, Litorius reports the result to Colonel Erney in the Defense Command Center.
"This is Litorius. Command Center, we successfully repel the enemy attack. There are only three enemy riders that successfully retreated from the battlefield. Waiting for further order. Over." Litroius reports to the Command Center.
"This is Command Center. Good job, Litorius. Now, fall back to the second line. We will provide you with reinforcement and additional resources." Colonel Ermey orders Litorius and his CLF to fall back.
"Excuse me, Sir. Could I ask questions? Why must we fall back to the second line? Also, why did the command center not launch SAM to destroy the remaining enemy wyverns?" Litorius asked Commander Ermey.
"First, your anti-air unit has already exhausted its ammunition, so you must resupply. Second, the second line is near Aeterna City so that we can supply your legionnaires more easily. Third, we do not want to waste precious SAM against wyverns, and it will be used to shoot down enemy aircraft. We assume these wyverns attack only the recon unit, not the main army. Fourth, in the second line, we could help you with the ME 262M squadron to repel the incoming enemy aircraft." Colonel Ermey explained.
"Yes, Sir. Thank you for your explanation. I want to ask permission to be out of communication. Over," Litorius responds.
"Yes, you can out. Additional resources and reinforcement will already be in the second line," Colonel Ermey ordered.
"Yes, Sir. Thank you, Sir. I am out." Litorius is out from the communication.
Noplos City, 14 April 2141 / 14 Aprilis 1841, 04:00 pm
Meanwhile, deep in the heart of Noplos City, Pompius and his remaining riders finally reached their rendezvous point. The air was thick with tension and the scent of blood. Pompius dismounted his injured wyvern, Zephnyr, and staggered forward, clutching the recon device tightly. His vision blurred, and he swayed on his feet, but his determination pushed him onward.
A contingent of Duke Romulus's elite guards rushed to meet them, their expressions a mix of relief and concern. "Commander Pompius, you are hurt! We need to get you to the medics immediately," one of the guards said, reaching out to support him.
"No, the recon data first. This information is vital for our next move." He handed the device to the guard. "Make sure it gets to the Duke." Pompius waved them off.
As Pompius was being led away to receive medical attention, his mind raced with thoughts of the battle. The images of fallen comrades and the relentless firepower of the legionnaires and their modern weapons haunted him. Despite the pain and exhaustion, he felt a flicker of hope. They had the information they needed to plan their next move.
Noble Palace, Noplos City, 14 April 2141 / 14 Aprilis 1841, 07:00 pm
Mr. 03, Mr. 06, and Duke Romulus stood at the head of a large table, surrounded by Duke Romulus's top generals and advisors. The atmosphere was tense as they reviewed the data captured by Pompius. Detailed images of the CLF's defensive layout and their advanced weaponry filled the screens.
"So, the United Terran sends modern weapons resembling Weltenkraft Reich weapons. Look at these self-propelled anti-air guns (SPAAG) that resemble the current Weltenkraft Reich short-range unguided anti-air weapons. They are very effective against slow-flying objects like wyverns. Fortunately, Pompius could survive these SPAAG attacks." Mr. 03 comments after he saw Flakpanzer Gepard, which resembles the current Weltenkraft Reich SPAAG.
"Also, these outdated anti-air guns are the weapons from 75 years ago in PRU and 30 years ago in Weltenkraft Reich. We assume United Terran only sent their outdated weapons to help the legionnaires. Look at these tanks and IFV, and they are similar to Weltenkraft Reich's outdated panzers and halftrack. If we assume these SPAAG, anti-air guns, tanks, and IFV are outdated weapons, they are really on par or maybe slightly more advanced than PRU in terms of military, scientific technology." Mr. 03 is assuming the technology of United Terran.
"Yeah, you are right, Mr. 03. Maybe if Mr. 01 and the proud people of Weltenkraft Reich saw these weapons, they would be shocked because the legionnaires of the backward Fortisregnum Empire are now on par with their current weapons technology." Mr. 06 comments about the weapons of the legionnaires.
"If United Terran exports these weapons, not only the United Terran but also the Fortisregnum Empire will become a new superpower and threaten the region and global nation's stability." Mr. 03 stated that if the United Terran exported their outdated weapons to the Fortisregnum Empire, they would improve the Fortisregnum Empire's power and destabilize regional and global stability.
"How can we defeat this powerful army, Mr. 03 and Mr. 06?" Duke Romulus asked Mr. 03 and Mr. 06
"Rest assured, Duke Romulus. Our jet fighter and main battle tanks are ready to fight. However, we need more data about the enemy before operating them. Based on this information, the legionnaires have capabilities on par with Weltenkraft Reich, but their weapons are less than ours. They only have three SPAAGs, two AA guns, two outdated tanks, and three armored vehicles. We have over five squadrons of aircraft from Weltenkraft Reich and one squadron of our powerful PRU jet fighter. We also have thirty panzers from Weltenkraft Reich and one main battle tank from our powerful PRU. Even though they have modern weapons, they only have limited weapons during this war." Mr. 03 responded that they would outnumber the legionnaire's weapons with their weapons.
"I see. Thank you for your explanation, Mr. 03." Duke Romulus was glad after hearing the explanation from Mr. 03.
"Initially, we will use Bi-52 fighter to conduct recon mission, but because we already have enemy weapons, we could use it as escort for the bomber to conduct air raid attack. Mr. 06, please tell Mr. 07 in Pampoi City to launch an air raid bombing with Weltenkraft Reich aircraft. Send two squadrons of Bi-52 fighters and one squadron of Bi-38 bombers. Tell them to conduct it tonight." Mr. 03 then ordered Mr. 06
"Yes, Sir. I will inform Mr. 07 to prepare the pilots and aircraft to conduct it tonight." Mr. 06 responds.
As Mr. 06 left the room to relay the orders, Mr. 03 and Duke Romulus continued to review the remaining data. The images showed the CLF's weaponry, vital strategic points, and defensive positions. Each detail would be crucial in planning their next moves.
"Duke Romulus, we must also consider our ground strategy. While the air raid will weaken their defenses, a coordinated ground assault will be necessary to take advantage of the chaos. Our forces must be ready to move as soon as the bombing commences." Mr. 03 advised.
"Agreed. I will mobilize our ground troops and have them on standby. The element of surprise will be on our side." Duke Romulus concurred, his resolve strengthening.
The meeting continued late into the night, with every detail scrutinized and every potential scenario planned. The fate of their campaign hinged on the success of the upcoming air raid and the precision of their subsequent ground offensive.
Secret Hangar II and III, Pampoi Region, 15 April 2141 / 15 Aprilis 1841, 00:30 am
On the runway of Secret Hangars II and III, twenty-four or two squadrons of Bi-52 fighters and twenty or one squadron of Bi-38 bombers were ready to fly. Sixty crews pilot of Bi-52 and Bi-38 are ready to get a speech from Mr. 07.
"Good night, my comrade. Several days ago, we lost 12 Bi-52, 6 Bi-37, and 3 Bi-38 by the enemy operatives raid. Now, we will avenge them. You will conduct air raid bombing against enemy city defense. I learned that the enemy has weapons similar to your Weltenkraft Reich's current SPAAG and outdated cannons. Even though they cannot reach you at maximum altitude, they could shoot you down at lower altitude to conduct bombing. Be careful, and there is a possibility that the enemy will have missiles and jet fighters. If you fight with that threat, conduct careful evasion and maneuver. A lot of you will not return, but I hope we can give them significant damage through this bombing raid. Good luck." Mr. 07 closed his speech and let the pilot crew prepare their aircraft.
As the pilots moved to their aircraft, the tension in the air was palpable. Each man knew the risks they faced and the importance of their mission. Engines roared to life, and soon, the airfield was filled with the deafening sound of Bi-52 fighters and Bi-38 bombers preparing for takeoff. One by one, the aircraft lifted into the night sky, heading towards their target.
In the command center, Mr. 07 watched the radar screens, tracking the progress of the squadrons. He knew that the element of surprise was on their side, but he could not help but feel a sense of unease. The enemy had shown themselves to be resourceful and capable, and there was always the possibility of an unforeseen threat.
Defense Command Center Facilities, Aeterna City, 15 April 2141 / 15 Aprilis 1841, 00:40 am
Lieutenant Carlo Pirlo, a Radar Operator substitute for Lieutenant Nesta, detected the fighters and bombers flying to the Aeterna Region in a formation from Pampoi City. Then, he reports to Lieutenant Colonel Maldini about the incoming fighters and bombers.
"Sir, we detected enemy fighters and bombers flying in a formation from Pampoi City. Based on their track, they will come here." Lieutenant Pirlo reports to Lieutenant Colonel Maldini.
"I see. Their second wave attack is a bombing raid attack. How many enemy fighters and bombers?" Lieutenant Colonel Maldini ask Lieutenant Pirlo.
"Based on satellites and stealth drones around Pampoi Region, twenty-four monoplane fighters and twelve bombers are there. Based on their characteristic, the fighters resemble fighters flying several days ago, and the bombers resemble Ju-88 bombers of Germany in World War II." Lieutenant Pirlo reports about the size and type of enemy aircraft.
"Lieutenant Pirlo, inform the legionnaire's pilots to be ready in their jet fighters and intercept this WWII aircraft. Dispatch six ME 262M to engage the enemy. Lieutenant Gattuso, reactive again SAM system. We will finish them if the legionnaires cannot annihilate the enemy." Lieutenant Colonel Maldini orders Lieutenant Pirlo to inform the pilots to be ready to engage the enemy and Lieutenant Gattuso to reactivate the SAM system.
"Yes, Sir. Reactivated the SAM system: Missiles are ready, radar is ready, and targets are confirmed. Waiting for the further orders." Lieutenant Alessandro Gattuso, a SAM System operator, reported about the reactivation of the SAM system.
"Yes, Sir. Informing the pilot to be ready and engage the enemy." Lieutenant Pirlo responds.
Then, Lieutenant Pirlo contacted the pilots standing by during this condition.
"This is the Defense Command Center: attention, Legionnaires pilot to battle station. We detected enemy aircraft coming here. Over." Lieutenant Pirlo inform the legionnaires pilot.
"This is Heraclius, Commander of Legionnaires Airwing Pilot. Thank you for the information. How many are the number of enemy aircraft? Over." Heraclius, the commander of Legionnaires Airwing pilot, asked for the number of enemy aircraft.
"We detected twenty-five monoplane fighters and twelve bombers. Lieutenant Colonel Maldini authorized the sending of six ME 262M to engage the enemy. SAM system was also activated to finish the remaining aircraft. Over." Lieutenant Pirlo forwarded the order from Lieutenant Colonel Maldini.
"Affirmative. We will be ready and launch in fifteen minutes. I am out." Heraclius finished the communication and told his other pilot to be ready and launch ME 262M in fifteen minutes.
The First air battle of the Aeterna Region will begin.
Newly Constructed Military Hangar, Aeterna City, 15 April 2141 / 15 Aprilis 1841, 01:05 am
Even though the Aeterna International Airport is not finished, a new military hangar and runway around the civilian airport have already been constructed. This military hangar is the new home of the new Airwing squadrons of ME 262M, twin-engine modified jet fighters. Heraclius and his team of five pilots stood by their sleek, twin-engine ME 262M jet fighters. The air was thick with anticipation as they performed their final checks before takeoff. The tension was palpable; they knew they were about to engage in a critical battle that could determine the fate of the Aeterna Region.
"Pilots, this is it. We must intercept and destroy those enemy fighters and bombers before they can reach our defenses. Remember, the SAM system is our last line of defense, but we cannot rely on it entirely. We must take down as many as we can." Heraclius's voice was steady, betraying none of the nerves that gripped him.
The pilots nodded in unison, their resolve firm. They climbed into their cockpits, strapping themselves in and preparing for takeoff. Engines roared to life, and within moments, the ME 262Ms were speeding down the runway, lifting into the night sky.
Aeterna Region Airspace, 15 April 2141 / 15 Aprilis 1841, 01:45 am
The radar screens in the Defense Command Center showed the six ME 262Ms climbing steadily, closing in on the incoming enemy formation. Lieutenant Colonel Maldini watched intently, his hands clasped behind his back. The fate of Aeterna City rested on this engagement.
"Heraclius, this is Maldini. You are clear to engage. Good luck." The Lieutenant Colonel's voice crackled over the radio.
"Copy that, Commander Maldini. Engaging now." Heraclius responded, his eyes scanning the horizon for the first signs of the enemy.
Thanks to advanced radar technology from United Terran, ME 262M has an upgraded version of the Modified Captor Active Electronically Scanning Array Radar (MCAESAR) integrated with advanced radar in Aeterna City. The MCAESAR can improve the detection and tracking of multiple targets at greater ranges, providing the pilot with superior situational awareness and improved combat effectiveness. The MCAESAR can also perform electronic warfare tasks, such as jamming and electronic countermeasures, enhancing the aircraft's survivability. Even after ME 262M took off from the runway, they detected the enemy fighters and bombers from more than 300 km.
"Targets acquired. All units, break and engage!" Heraclius commanded.
Each ME 262M carries eight upgraded versions of the MBDA Meteor beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile (BVRAAM), so a total of 48 MBDA Meteor are carried by the 6 ME 262M.
After several minutes, the range between Heraclius and his pilots to the enemy was only 180 km. Then, Heraclius ordered his teams to design the target and launch the MBDA Meteor.
"Target designed and locked. All units launch BVRAAM. Fox-3." Heraclius orders his pilots while launching four MBDA Meteor from his ME 262M.
"Affirmative. Fox-3." The remaining ME 262M also launch their four MBDA Meteor.
A total of 24 MBDA Meteor BVRAAM is ready to annihilate the enemy fighters.

Commander Thomsen was the pilot leader of the Bi-52 fighter and an ex-member of the Weltenkraft Luftwaffe. He is leading the Bi-52 fighters squadrons to escort Bi-38 bombers to conduct air raid bombing in Aeterna City. They utilize diamond formation with six Bi-52s in the front, six in the right, six in the left, and six in the rear, while Bi-38 bombers are in the center of the formation.
"Adler eins, hier ist Adler Leader. Statusbericht. (Adler One, this is Adler Leader. Status report.)" Thomsen spoke calmly into his radio, his voice firm and authoritative.
"Adler eins, alles klar. Keine feindlichen Kontakte in Sicht. (Adler One, all clear. No enemy contacts in sight.)" The response came quickly and precisely, as expected
"Adler zwei, Statusbericht. (Adler Two, status report)." Thomsen continued, ensuring all positions were checked.
"Adler zwei, keine Feindkontakte. Wir sind auf Kurs. (Adler Two, no enemy contacts. We are on course)." The pilot sounded as confident as the first.
"Sehr gut. Bleibt wachsam. Wir dürfen keine Überraschungen zulassen. (Very good. Stay vigilant. We cannot allow any surprises)." Thomsen ended the communication and focused again on the radar.
Suddenly, the device beeped, showing multiple rapidly approaching dots. Twenty-four MBDA Meteor missiles approached them. Even though they are outdated fighters, the fighters of Thomsen utilize new recon devices and radar from the Black Shadow to detect enemy aircraft or flying objects near them. Fortunately, the device could detect the incoming MBDA Meteor, but the evasion maneuver performance differs from detecting the missiles. Unlike modern jet fighters, the Bi-52 had no flare device to trick the incoming missiles. So, they only use maneuvers from enemy attacks.
"Raketen im Anflug! Alle Einheiten ausweichen! (Missiles incoming! All units evade!)" Thomsen barked, his heart racing as the radar screen lit up with incoming threats. The Bi-52 fighters began to break formation, each pilot executing evasive maneuvers to avoid the deadly payloads.
The Bi-52s, while not equipped with modern countermeasures, were still nimble. Thomsen pulled his stick to the right, sending his fighter into a steep dive. He could see the streaks of the MBDA Meteor missiles closing in, their guidance systems relentlessly tracking their targets.
"Adler eins, hier ist Adler Leader. Abwehrmaßnahmen ergreifen! (Adler One, this is Adler Leader. Take evasive actions!)" Thomsen's voice was firm, but the urgency was palpable.
As the missiles closed in, the first explosions rocked the night sky. Two Bi-52s were caught in the blast radius of the Meteors, their debris scattering across the airspace. The remaining fighters continued to twist and turn, some narrowly avoiding the deadly missiles. However, the upgraded MBDA Meteor is more advanced and deadly than the standard MBDA Meteor. They have more range, explosive payload, and better tracking devices for homing and hitting targets. So, another eighteen Bi-52 exploded after being hit by the MBDA Meteor.
Thomsen and the remaining pilot try to evade and conduct manuever to trick the missiles. However, another three pilots get hit by the MBDA Meteor missiles. Fortunately, a miracle happened for Thomsen. The missiles that pursued him and the remaining pilots malfunctioned and exploded near their fighters.
Thomsen breathed a sigh of relief, his hands steadying on the controls as he glanced at the damage reports. The near-miss had rattled his aircraft, but it was still operational. The remaining Bi-52s reformed their positions, the air thick with the tension of their survival.
"Adler Leader, hier ist Adler fünf. Wir haben schwere Verluste erlitten. Wie sollen wir fortfahren? (Adler Leader, this is Adler Five. We've sustained heavy losses. How should we proceed?)" The voice over the radio was strained but resolute.
"Adler fünf, wir müssen die Bomber beschützen. Bleibt in Formation und bereit für weitere Angriffe. (Adler Five, we must protect the bombers. Stay in formation and ready for further attacks.)" Thomsen responded, his mind racing as he calculated their next move.
"Wo ist der Feind? Woher kommen diese Raketen? Könnte es sein, dass der Feind auch Düsenjäger einsetzt? Das ist nicht gut. Adler fünf, sei vorsichtig mit dem Feind. Ich fürchte, der Feind verwendet moderne Waffen, um diese Raketen aus großer Entfernung abzufeuern. (Where is the enemy? Where are these missiles coming from? Could it be that the enemy utilizes jet fighters, too? This is not good. Adler five, be careful with the enemy. I fear the enemy utilizes advanced weapons to shoot these missiles from the long range.)" Thomsen fear that they fight with advanced and formidable enemy.
Meanwhile, the ME 262M squadron, led by Heraclius, watched the explosions of enemy fighters through their HUDs. The first wave of missiles had done significant damage, but their job was far from over.
"Heraclius, this is Maldini. Excellent work. Prepare for the second engagement. We must ensure none of those remaining fighters and bombers reach Aeterna City." Maldini's voice cut through the radio static.
"Understood, Commander. Initiating the second attack run. All units, prepare to engage remaining targets." Heraclius replied, his eyes scanning the radar for any surviving enemies.
The ME 262Ms reformed their positions, their advanced radars locking onto the remaining Bi-52s and Bi-38 bombers. The glow of their afterburners lighted the night sky as they maneuvered into attack formation.
"Designate targets and prepare for close-range engagement. We need to get in close to finish them off." Heraclius commanded, leading his squadron towards the remaining enemy fighters.
Aeterna Region Airspace, 15 April 2141 / 15 Aprilis 1841, 01:56 am
Thomsen and his surviving pilots struggled to regain their bearings. The Bi-38 bombers they were escorting were now vulnerable, and they knew it. The advanced ME 262Ms were closing in, their presence a looming threat. The ME 262M twin-engine's roar soaring in the night inflicts fear for everyone who hears it.
Thomsen's surviving pilots, who familiarized themselves with jet engines, sounded surprised because they heard the roaring of jet fighters approaching them. They cannot survive if the enemy launches other missiles to shoot them down.
"Adler Leader, die feindlichen Jets kommen schnell näher. Was sollen wir tun? (Adler Leader, the enemy jets are closing in fast. What should we do?)" Another voice crackled over the radio, filled with fear and determination.
" Wir halten unsere Stellung und verteidigen die Bomber um jeden Preis. Denkt an eure Ausbildung und bleibt konzentriert. Wir können unsere Mission noch erfüllen. (We hold our ground and defend the bombers at all costs. Remember your training and stay focused. We can still complete our mission.)" Thomsen's voice was a beacon of resolve amidst the chaos.
"Moment, dieser Düsenjäger ähnelt unserem ersten Düsenjäger, der Bi-62. Wie hat der Feind unsere Düsenjäger eingesetzt? Das kann nicht sein. (Wait, that jet fighter resembles our first jet, the Bi-62. How did the enemy operate our jet fighters? It cannot be.)" Thomsen surprised that Me 262M resembles to Weltenkraft Reich first jet, Bismarck (Bi-62).
However, there are differences between ME 262M and their Bi-62. The ME 262M had significant upgrades and modifications to improve their engines, armaments, electronic devices, and other equipment to improve their level, similar to 4.5 generation jet fighters. As Thomsen remembers, the Bi-62 could not carry missiles. Also, the Bi-62 is a single-engine jet fighter, while the ME 262M is a twin-engine jet fighter based on its exhaust in the rear. Only their current advanced Bi-79 jet fighters can carry missiles and have twin-engine turbojets. Most surprisingly, they could see ME 262M flying approaching them thanks to a broader horizon, but they could not detect ME 262M in his advanced radar.
Even though ME 262M is not completely stealth like United Terran jet fighters, its armor material already has stealth capability. Thanks to their nanomaterial and nanocomposite technology, its armor have low radar cross section (RCS), radar absorbent materials (RAM), minimizes infrared signatures, and includes radar frequencies as well as other parts of the electromagnetic spectrum.
F-35 Lightning II has RCS value of approximately 0.0015 to 0.005 square meters, F-22 Raptor is approximately 0.0001 to 0.0005 square meters, Chengdu J-20 is approximately 0.01 to 0.1 square meters, Sukhoi Su-57 is approximately 0.1 to 1 square meters, Dassault Rafale 0.1 to 1 square meters, and Eurofighter typhoon 0.5 to 1 square meters [3-5]. The ME 262M has an RCS value of approximately 0.01 to 0.1 square meters. Even though not stealthy like the F-35 and F-22, if ME 262M fights against the current Eurofighter Typhoon, Dassault Rafale, Su-57, and J-20, ME 262M has the upper hand and advantage thanks to their advanced nanotechnology in their material and electronic devices.
The ME 262Ms swooped in, their improved 27 mm BK-27 revolver cannons blazing as they targeted the Bi-52s. Explosions erupted in the night sky as the twin-engine jets cut through the enemy formation with surgical precision.
"Heraclius, this is Maldini. The bombers are within range. Take them down before they reach our defenses." Maldini's voice was steady, but the urgency was apparent.
"Copy that, Commander. All units focus on the bombers. Engage and destroy. Fox-3." Heraclius ordered, leading the charge towards the Bi-38s.
"Affirmative. Fox-3." Other pilots launch other missiles to shoot down the bomber.
Heraclius and his pilots could launch all the missiles beyond visual range, but they canceled the plan. They learned that during the training in UT ISF facilities, the old pilots in UT ISF romanticized dogfighting between fighters. They learn from the video of the old era during the Korean War and Vietnam War that pilot between fighting countries show their skill in dogfighting during the battle. Fortunately, dogfighting became obsolete after introducing beyond-visual range (BVR) technology, including missiles, radar, tracking systems, and electronic devices. However, because the enemy used outdated aircraft from World War II based on United Terran history, Heraclius and his pilots could conduct dogfighting for the first time.
Heraclius and his pilot conduct strafing with their 27 mm BK-27 revolver cannon in their ME 262M. The modified 27 mm cannon is more advanced than the standard 27 mm Mauser BK-27 cannon. Thanks to nanotechnology and nanomaterial, energy and penetration power improved significantly. The standard API round of the 27 mm Mauser BK-27 cannon has 25 – 30 mm of RHA at 500 meters, while the modified 27 mm BK-27 revolver cannon has 50 – 60 mm of RHA at 500 meters.
The Bi-38 is similar to the Ju-388 bomber. The thickness of armor is 8 – 10 mm, so Heraclius and his pilots could shoot down Bi-38 with their 27 mm BK-27 cannon. Several hits from API rounds of 27 mm BK-27 revolver cannon could ignite and blaze Bi-38 in flame.
One of the Bi-38 bomber tail gunners tried to shoot down ME 262M with their heavy machine guns. The tail gunner of the Bi-38 bomber, Sergeant Krüger, gripped the handles of his MG 131 machine gun tightly, his eyes scanning the night sky for the approaching ME 262Ms. The roar of the enemy jets was growing louder, a menacing symphony that sent chills down the spines of the bomber crew.
"Feindjäger auf sechs Uhr! (Enemy fighters at six o'clock!)" Krüger shouted into the intercom, his voice strained with urgency.
The bomber's pilot, Captain Müller, responded swiftly, "Haltet sie ab, Krüger! Wir dürfen die Formation nicht verlieren! (Hold them off, Krüger! We can't lose the formation!)"
Krüger swung the heavy machine gun around, locking onto the nearest ME 262M that was closing in fast. He squeezed the trigger, sending a hail of 13mm bullets towards the approaching jet. Tracers lit up the night, streaking towards their target. The enemy fighter weaved and bobbed, trying to evade the gunfire, but Krüger was relentless.
"Halte sie beschäftigt! Wir müssen die anderen Bomber schützen! (Keep them busy! We need to protect the other bombers!)" Müller barked over the intercom.
As the ME 262M drew nearer, Krüger could see its sleek, menacing silhouette illuminated by the bursts of tracer fire. The enemy pilot, Heraclius, deftly maneuvered his jet fighters, dodging the bullets with expert precision. He lined up his 27mm BK-27 revolver cannon and fired a burst towards the Bi-38.
Even though the ME 262M was hit by the 13 mm heavy machine guns from the Bi-38 bomber, its solid but light armor could bounce the incoming machine gun rounds. Thanks to its nanomaterial and nanopolymer, it enhances the hardness and toughness of armor, potentially making it more resistant to projectile penetration. Nanopolymers can be engineered to dissipate the kinetic energy of impacting rounds more effectively, reducing the damage to the underlying structure. By integrating nanomaterials into composite armor systems, it's possible to create layered protection that can absorb and deflect incoming rounds, increasing the aircraft's survivability. So, the ME 262M will withstand and effectively bounce the threat from enemy heavy machine guns.
"Verdammt! (Damn it!)" Krüger cursed as he saw the cannon shells streak past the bomber, narrowly missing the fuselage. He adjusted his aim and fired another burst, the machine gun vibrating violently in his hands.
The crew was tense inside the bomber, their faces pale with fear. The navigator, Lieutenant Weber, clutched his map and tried to maintain their course. "Wir müssen durchhalten! (We have to hold on!)" he muttered to himself, his eyes darting nervously between the instruments and the sky outside.
The ME 262M was relentless. Heraclius fired another burst from his cannon, and this time, several shells found their mark. The Bi-38 shuddered violently as the rounds tore through its fuselage, sending sparks and debris flying. Krüger kept firing, determined to protect his comrades, but the enemy jet was too fast, too agile.
"Krüger, pass auf! (Krüger, watch out!)" Müller shouted as another ME 262M swooped in from the side, its cannons blazing. The bomber shook again as more shells struck home, punching holes through the wings and tail.
Krüger fought to maintain his composure, his hands steady on the machine gun. He fired another burst, this time hitting the enemy jet's wing. The ME 262M wobbled slightly, but the pilot quickly regained control and continued the attack.
"Wir können das schaffen! (We can do this!)" Krüger yelled, his voice filled with defiance. "Bleibt dran! (Hang in there!)"
But the ME 262Ms were relentless. Another burst of cannon fire hit the bomber, and the damage was catastrophic this time. Flames erupted from the engine, and the bomber lost altitude rapidly.
"Wir verlieren Höhe! (We're losing altitude!)" Müller shouted, struggling to keep the plane level. "Krüger, bereite dich auf den Absprung vor! (Krüger, prepare to bail out!)"
Krüger nodded, his face set in grim determination. He fired one last burst at the enemy fighters, then unbuckled himself from the gunner's seat. The bomber was spiraling down, flames licking at its wings. The crew scrambled to grab their parachutes, their faces pale with fear.
"Absprung! (Bail out!)" Müller ordered, his voice barely audible over the flames and wind roar. One by one, the crew members leaped from the stricken bomber, their parachutes blossoming in the night sky.
Krüger was the last to jump. He took one final look at the ME 262Ms circling like vultures, then threw himself out of the burning bomber. The wind rushed past him as he fell, the flames and explosions fading into the distance.
As he floated down towards the ground, Krüger could not help but feel helpless. They fought bravely, but the enemy jet fighters were too advanced. The ME 262Ms had proven to be formidable foes, and their mission to protect the bombers and air raid had failed.
But Krüger knew that this was just one battle in a long war. There would be other missions, other fights. And there was hope as long as pilots were willing to take to the skies.
He landed with a thud, his parachute billowing around him. The night was eerily quiet now, the jets' roar and the cannons' thunder a distant memory. Krüger looked up at the sky, his heart heavy with the loss of his comrades.
The last remaining Bi-38 bomber crew was in a desperate struggle. The ME 262Ms circled like predatory birds, their powerful engines roaring as they lined up for another attack run. The bomber shook violently with every near miss, the air filled with the scent of burning fuel and the acrid tang of smoke.
The crew frantically tried to fend off the enemy jets inside the bomber. The tail gunner, Private Schneider, was sweating profusely, his hands trembling as he gripped the controls of the MG 131 machine gun. He could see the sleek, menacing shapes of the ME 262Ms darting in and out of the darkness, their engines glowing like the eyes of some infernal beast.
"Feindliche Jäger in Position! (Enemy fighters in position!)" Schneider shouted into the intercom, his voice cracking with fear. "Sie kommen wieder! (They're coming back!)"
The pilot, Captain Meyer, tried to keep the bomber steady, his face grim with determination. "Schneider, halte sie ab! (Schneider, hold them off!)" he ordered, his knuckles white as he gripped the yoke. "Wir müssen die Mission beenden! (We must complete the mission!)"
Schneider swung the machine gun around, locking onto the nearest ME 262M. He squeezed the trigger, sending a stream of tracers streaking toward the enemy jet. The ME 262M weaved and bobbed, evading the gunfire with ease. Schneider's heart sank as the jet lined up for another attack run.
"Halte durch, Schneider! (Hang in there, Schneider!)" Captain Meyer shouted, his voice barely audible over the roar of the engines and the rattle of machine gun fire.
The ME 262M fired its 27mm BK-27 revolver cannon, the shells tearing through the night like fiery meteors. Schneider watched in horror as the rounds slammed into the bomber's fuselage, punching through the thin metal with devastating force. Flames erupted from the impact points, the bomber shuddering violently as the damage spread.
"Verdammt! (Damn it!)" Schneider cursed, adjusting his aim and firing another burst at the enemy jet. But the ME 262M was too fast, too agile. It darted out of the fire line, circling for another pass.
The bomber's crew was in a state of panic. The navigator, Lieutenant Richter, was frantically trying to maintain their course, his hands shaking as he adjusted the instruments. "Wir verlieren sie! (We're losing them!)" he muttered, his voice filled with despair.
Another burst from the ME 262M's cannon hit the bomber, the shells tearing through the wings and tail. The Bi-38 shuddered violently, flames licking at its wingtips. Schneider fired one last burst at the enemy jet, but his aim was off, the tracers streaking harmlessly into the night.
"Schneider, wir müssen abspringen! (Schneider, we have to bail out!)" Captain Meyer shouted, his voice filled with urgency. "Das Flugzeug geht runter! (The plane is going down!)"
But Schneider knew it was too late. The damage was too severe, the bomber's engines sputtering and coughing as the flames spread. The ME 262Ms were relentless, their cannons blazing as they tore through the bomber's defenses.
With a final, desperate burst, Schneider fired at the approaching ME 262M, but it was futile. The enemy jet fired its cannon, the shells ripping through the bomber's fuselage and igniting the payload of bombs inside. There was a blinding flash, a deafening explosion, and then silence.
The Bi-38 bomber disintegrated in a ball of flame, and the night sky lit up with the fiery explosion. The crew never had a chance to bail out. Their lives were snuffed out in an instant. The ME 262Ms circled the wreckage momentarily, then sped off into the night, their mission complete for destroying the bomber. However, some enemy fighters left that needed to be shot down.
On the ground below, Krüger watched in horror as the bomber exploded, his heart heavy with grief for his fallen comrades. He knew the war was far from over, and many more battles would come. But at that moment, he could only feel the weight of their sacrifice, the bitter taste of defeat.
As he lay in the darkness, waiting for another survivor to find him, Krüger vowed to remember his comrades' courage and continue the fight, no matter the cost. In the end, their spirit and determination would carry them through the darkest of nights. He and the survivor crews were the only fortunate survivors not sent to Valhalla. However, their fate would not be better than death because the UT ISIA native agents would capture them.
The night sky was a battlefield filled with the roar of engines, the flash of cannons, and the thunder of explosions. The ME 262Ms pressed their attack, their superior technology and firepower overwhelming the outdated Bi-52s and Bi-38s.
Thomsen watched in horror as, one by one, the bombers he was tasked to protect were obliterated. His aircraft was barely holding together, the damage from the near-miss taking its toll. Finally, all of Bi-38 is shot down by the power of advanced modern missiles and rotary cannons of jet fighters.
"Adler Leader, wir können sie nicht aufhalten. Sie sind zu stark! (Adler Leader, we cannot hold them off. They are too strong!)." A desperate voice cried out over the radio.
"Kommandostelle, wir wurden von feindlichen Jagdflugzeugen angegriffen. Sie ähneln unseren Bi-62-Jagdflugzeugen und wir sind ihnen nicht gewachsen. Wir erleiden schwere Verluste und bitten um Erlaubnis, uns vom Schlachtfeld zurückzuziehen. (Command Center, we suffered devastation defeat by the enemy jet fighters. They resemble our Bi-62 jet fighter and we are no match against them. We suffer heavy losses and request to retreat from the battlefield.)" Thomsen reports through radio.
"Bestätigt. (Affirmative.) You.. pzzzt.. pzzzt.." response from Mr. 07 is interrupted because Heraclius activated an electronic jammer through modified defensive aids sub-systems (MDASS) devices in ME 262M.
The MDASS can generate broad-spectrum noise to interfere with enemy communications. This can degrade or block voice and data transmissions, hampering the enemy's ability to coordinate and relay information. It also transmits false signals that mimic legitimate communication signals, causing confusion and misinformation among enemy forces.
"Verdammt, sie haben auch unsere Kommunikation gestört. Das ist nicht gut. (Damn, they also interrupted our communication. This is not good.)" Thomsen cursed because the enemy interrupted his communication with the command center.
"Adler Leader, was sollen wir tun? Was ist Ihr Befehl? (Adler Leader, what can we do? What is your order?)" another desperate voice of the remaining fighter pilot.
"Bleibt zusammen, kämpft weiter! Wir dürfen ihnen keinen leichten Sieg gönnen! Wir werden versuchen, sie zurückzudrängen. Los, folgt mir. (Stay together, keep fighting! We cannot let them win easily! We will try to fight them back. Come on, follow me)." Thomsen shouted back, his voice filled with desperation and determination.
However, it was clear that the battle was lost. The ME 262Ms had outmaneuvered and outgunned them at every turn. Thomsen's eyes narrowed as he made a split-second decision.
"Adler Einheit, Rückzug! Wir müssen uns zurückziehen und die Basis informieren. (Adler unit, retreat! We need to fall back and inform the base.)" Thomsen ordered, his heart heavy with the weight of their defeat.
Heraclius and his pilots do not let Thomsen and his pilots escape. They pursue them, determined to ensure no enemy fighters return to their base.
"All units, do not let them get away. Engage and pursue the remaining targets," Heraclius commanded, his voice filled with resolve.
The ME 262Ms surged forward, their afterburners blazing as they closed the distance to the retreating Bi-52s. Heraclius locked onto Thomsen's air wingman fighters, the HUD highlighting the target with a red box. The modified BK-27 revolver cannon roared as Heraclius fired, the tracers streaking through the night sky.
Thomsen's air wingman Bi-52 twisted and turned, trying to evade the deadly rounds. He pushed his aircraft to its limits, but the ME 262M's superior speed and agility were relentless. A few rounds found their mark, tearing through the Bi-52's wing and fuselage.
" Adler Leader, sie sind hinter uns her! Wir können sie nicht abschütteln! (Adler Leader, they are on us! We cannot shake them!)" one of the remaining pilots shouted over the radio, panic evident in his voice.
" Bleib ruhig und manövriere weiter! Wir müssen— (Stay calm and keep maneuvering! We have to—)" Thomsen's orders were cut off as another burst from Heraclius's wingmen cannon struck home.
"Commander, I have got the lead fighter in my sights. He has a different shape than another fighter." Heraclius's wingman reported.
"Finish him off. We cannot let any of them escape," Heraclius responded, his eyes fixed on Thomsen's struggling fighter.
The wingman fired a short burst, and Thomsen's Bi-52 exploded in a fiery ball, debris scattering across the sky. His aircraft shuddered, alarms blaring as systems failed and the controls sluggish. Finally, he join his fallen comrade to the Valhalla of Weltenkraft people. Heraclius quickly shifted his focus to the remaining fighters, picking off one after another with surgical precision.
"Adler Einheit, hier ist Adler fünf. Wir haben keine Chance! (Adler unit, this is Adler Five. We have no chance!)" the last surviving pilot's voice cracked over the radio, filled with despair.
Heraclius's squadron closed in, their cannons blazing as they eliminated the final Bi-52 fighter. The night sky was now eerily quiet, the only sound the hum of the ME 262M engines as they reformed their formation.
"Heraclius, this is Maldini. Outstanding work. The skies are clear. Return to base for debriefing and rearmament." Maldini's calm and authoritative voice came through the radio.
"Copy that, Commander. Returning to base," Heraclius acknowledged, leading his squadron back towards Aeterna City.
As they flew back, Heraclius could not help but feel a mix of triumph and somber reflection. They had won their first aerial battle. This winning will cause devastating damage to the enemy. The legionnaires won another battle, but the war was far from over. The enemy had shown their tenacity, and Heraclius knew they would return with more formidable forces.
"Stay sharp, everyone. This is just the beginning," Heraclius reminded his pilots, the weight of responsibility heavy on his shoulders.
The ME 262Ms landed back at Aeterna City's military airfield, the ground crews rushing to service the aircraft. Heraclius climbed out of his cockpit, taking a deep breath as he looked around at his squadron. They had performed admirably, but there was no time to rest. The defense of Aeterna City was a continuous effort, and they had to be ready for whatever came next.
"Debrief in ten minutes. We must analyze today's engagement and prepare for the next one. Good work, everyone." Heraclius announced and appreciated their achievement to his pilots.
As they headed towards the debriefing room, Heraclius could not shake the feeling that this was only a prelude to a much larger conflict. The defense of Aeterna City would require every ounce of their skill, courage, and determination.
The first aerial battle of Aeterna City is over, and the legionnaires have achieved a clear victory. The integrated ground and aerial attack of the slavery faction army will begin.
