[What the hell kind of name is that?]
Melvin instantly knew that the person was referring to his name. Right now, he was matched up in the latest hit MOBA game, War of Heroes. The name he picked when he first started was called WetNJuicyBussy because it was funny and he wanted to see if he could bypass the name censor. He instantly clicked his favorite character in the game without a single care about his teammates preferences. 9 times out of 10, this would generally be no issue because he always picks a support hero but even if it was a problem, he wouldn’t care. He’s going support regardless of what anyone else thinks. This time around, he picked Fatty Cakes as his hero. Fatty Cakes was probably one of the worst supports in the game right now but Melvin has him maxed out in affinity and had an expensive costume on him. Normally, Fatty Cakes was a disgusting overly obese fat man wearing a chef’s apron with a cake in one hand and a large hook in the other. But with this skin that costed Melvin 20 whole dollars, Fatty Cakes was now even more disgusting.
[God man, please pick a different skin. I don’t want to be looking at that while your laning with me.]
“I spent good money for this skin. Please don’t be toxic.” Melvin typed back.
Fatty Cakes was dressed in a two-piece bikini. His greasy fat folds, nasty bulge barely contained by the bikini’s bottom, the watermelon in his hand that replaced his cake, and a dolphin for his hook. His level-headed response was not met well by his teammates. They hated that he instapicked, they hated that he chose Fatty Cakes as a support with that cursed skin of all things, and they hated his name.
[We’re fucked.]
[They have The Priestess as their support!]
[Chill out guys. One bad support isn’t going to cost us a game. U guys make sure u get kills and we’ll win.]
[U don’t have to lane with him! Seeing that fat ugly shit the whole time!]
[It’s just a video game bro. Some pixels aren’t going to hurt your delicate eyes, pussy.]
The teams chose their characters and the loading screen popped up. This time the enemy team got to get a new view of Fatty Cakes and once the game started, they two were displeased.
[I’m going to kill you, and kill you, and kill you Fatty Cakes for making me see that damn skin.]
[I’ve went my entire ranking career without seeing that skin once. Now I wish I had bleach to wash my eyes out.]
They were in Gold.
[I don’t know guys, Fatty Cakes is pretty T H I C C! Man’s got cake and I'm trying to get me some.]
[I never wanted to delete someone’s comment from my memory more than I do now. Please commit die.]
[stop spamming chat and play.]
Melvin took Fatty Cakes down to bottom lane with his ADC, Star Shooter. Star Shooter’s strength was in high burst damage with his auto attacks and range longer than the usual ADC. However, to balance that, he had no escape or abilities to shield himself with. So, a poor hero to choose when he picked someone like Fatty Cakes who couldn’t give shields, boost his movement speed, or help him escape from a dire situation. But he did look cool though. Dual guns, futuristic white armor, and a cool attitude made him a very popular ADC choice.
[Just try not to feed Fatty. Please...]
Melvin used one of his emotes he unlocked for Fatty Cakes by maxing out his affinity to respond. Fatty Cakes stuck his chest out and shook it in Star Shooter’s face while laughing in his deep voice laced with fat. Star Shooter didn't like that and shot at him even though there was no team damage in this game. Once their minions (sidekicks) came to their lane, that was when the true battle started. To start things off, Melvin used the help with some of his friends and accurately hooked the enemy’s ADC who was grossly out of position and aggressively shooting at him.

With the help of Star Shooter and their sidekicks, they confirmed a kill before the one-minute mark and leveled up, gaining their second ability. Melvin made Fatty Cakes do his laughing emote before healing and boosting both himself and Star Shooter. With his Q, “Eat! Eat! Eat!”, Fatty Cakes could heal and boost himself along with any allies around him while at the same time debuffing any enemies in range with lower attack/magic power and defense. The cooldown was pretty short as well, meaning that Melvin could continue to aggressively push with Star Shooter without returning to base for health.
And since he had 100% accuracy with his W, “Come Here!”, the opposing ADC and support were afraid to stand anywhere near him. They hid behind the sidekicks every chance they could get and when the sidekicks were killed, they ran back under the safety of their tower. Giving both Fatty Cakes and Star Shooter plenty of gold and exp to level with.
Melvin expected their jungle to come down soon because of how hard they were pushing. So, to prepare he placed down two wards in the bushes coming down to bottom and got back to harassing the enemy ADC. As a support, it was his job to give the ADC kills. Which was why Star Shooter going 5-0-0 and he was going 0-0-5. 0 kills, 0 deaths, and 5 assists.
As the game went on, eventually it reached the point where Star Shooter could click on the enemy about 3 or 4 times and they would die. Instead of pushing their lane, he began roaming through the map ambushing any enemies caught out of position or if they just ran into him. Melvin roamed with him as he was the support and it was his job to make sure that he got kills. Anyone that ran into them was almost guaranteed to die unless they used their escape skill or ability as soon as they spotted them.
At the 10-minute mark, the enemy surrendered when the score reached 25-2. 25 kills for their team and only 2 for them. Melvin ended up with a score of 0-0-25 while Star Shooter had 22-0-0.
[What the fuck? How did we win that?]
[Is Star Shooter still broken? Wasn’t he nerfed?]
[FUCK THAT STUPID FAT PIECE OF SHIT!]
[WHY DOESN’T HE MISS!? HE DOESN’T MISS!]
[I can’t believe we lost because of a Fatty Cakes support...]
[I told you guys. Simp Fatty Cakes. Yo WetNJuicyBussy add me bruh.]
Melvin left the end of the match screen where all the players could communicate with each other. He instantly clicked the Queue button to find another ranked match. The recommended wait time was around 2 minutes so, to spend the time he played with his subjects. It’s been a while since he’s become the Ghost King.
“Hihihihi!” Dozens of ghosts flew around his room.
White round ghosts with black beady eyes, sharp teeth, long tongues, and short little stubs for hands. Most of them floated around playing tag with each other while giggling and laughing with their high-pitched voices. Some possessed the objects in his room, others floated through the walls to explore other parts of his house, and a few disguised themselves as objects for the others to play with. Melvin rubbed the soft squishy body of one of the ghosts. He called them Oobs.
He heard a soothing jingle from his computer screen and spun around in his chair to accept the ranked match. Only to hear his door actually being knocked down suddenly and an all too familiar voice blasting in his ears. The Oobs instantly vanished from sight, leaving Melvin and his messy room for all eyes to see.
“Melvin! We’re going to make you a productive member of society starting today regardless if you want to or not!” It was Cindy. A girl he’s known since they were babies.
She grabbed him by his collar, ignoring his protests, pleads, and begging before throwing him into the bathroom and turning on the shower. He sat soaking wet in the cold rain of water before being dragged out once he no longer stunk and taken out of the house.
“This is a kidnapping! Mom! Why aren’t you doing anything!? I’m being taken away!” Melvin cried out.
“Who do you think told me about you wasting your life away?” Cindy said.
“My own mother has betrayed me...” Melvin was shaken and dried like a wet rag as he was brought to the local Rift Center.
“You can’t force me into becoming a Rift Walker. That’s like against 30 laws or something.” Melvin’s hand was forced into signing the contract.
Officially making him into a newbie Rift Walker. Once that was done, Cindy dragged him and her teammates into a low-level Rift. Cindy was an experienced and talented Rift Walker known throughout the city. Her teammates wondered what was going on with her and him but he only felt like he was being dragged to hell. He didn’t want to fight monsters for a living! All he wanted was to play video games!
“You’re going to be our Looter. Those video games haven’t rotted your brain that badly that you don’t even know what a Looter is, has it?” It was a trick question.
“Of course, I know what a Looter is.” He lied but could pretty much find out what it was based on its name.
“Good. Then watch us work and I'll explain everything to you on the job.”
