The Gluttonous Monster.

It was one of the first monsters to appear through the Dimensional Cracks. A few nicknames that some humans called it were Big Guy, Fatty, Obese One, and more along those lines before eventually giving it its own unique name: Glutton. There was only one of its species ever seen unlike the other monsters that came through the Cracks. It roamed within the mostly ruined city, City Z. Spending its time doing nothing other than eating, sleeping, or a combination of the two.

Thankfully, early on it was observed that this monster was a neutral-type monster. As in it held no interest in killing or eating humans unless violently provoked. Something that certain Hunters had to find out the hard way after trying to hunt it once it fell asleep in between an alleyway after eating two completely filled dumpsters. The story told by the single remaining survivor was one that could give nightmares to anyone that heard it.

“That thing... didn’t care about anything we threw at it... Bullets just bounced off its belly and thick fur. It didn’t even wake up when we were trying to kill it with our weapons. It just grabbed the nearest person and...” He couldn’t finish his words as he soon vomited, remembering the experience.

Glutton was a Unique Monster unlike any of the other monsters that came through the Cracks besides the fact that there was only one of its species. Every other monster wanted to eat, kill, and hurt humans. While Glutton, only wanted to eat anything it could fit in its mouth. The other monsters seemed to have realized the difference between them and Glutton once they saw that it held no interests in humans. Once this difference was noticed, they began attacking Glutton to try and eat it.

“The monsters seem to grow through eating humans or other monster species. When they see a strong monster, it's another opportunity for them to rise to a higher power. Something like Glutton that seems to radiate power just by eating and sleeping must look like easy prey to other monsters.” A Monster Maniac shared his research.

“Haha! Holy shit man, you should’ve saw it! Glutton is a fucking G man! He took care of those trolls like it was nothing man! Literally picking them up one by one and eating them! It wasn’t until the Troll King appeared that things got real crazy man.”

Glutton grabbed the last troll in his large hand and brought it to its mouth. Fear, terror, and regret was visible on the smaller monster’s face as it was chewed apart in a bloody mess and swallowed. There wasn’t a single indication that an army of trolls were here just a moment ago if you ignored the armored double-headed troll carrying a large axe as a weapon. This Troll King angrily glared at the fat oaf for eating his men and walked forward to take on this powerful opponent for himself.

Glutton was a giant monster. It was not large in the sense that it was towering over the apartment complexes and such but large in that it easily dwarfed the average human and monster at an impressive height of 10 feet and seemed to be growing larger every week. Appearance wise, it resembled a mix between a cat and a bear with more emphasis on bear. Carrying a large gut, short arms with sharp claws capable of grabbing objects and eating them, and big feet with 3 claws and paw pads. On top of its head were two small ears pointed upward, two pointed teeth protruding from its jaw, and no visible ears. All of its body was covered in fur while its eyes seemed to be perpetually shut but despite this it could still sense its surroundings as if it could see without any problem at all.

“Graah!” The Troll King yelled.

Running forth with its weapon, it leapt upward to split Glutton in half with its axe. Perhaps Glutton could sense the danger that the Troll King brought to it or maybe it just was lazy and didn’t want to deal with anymore trolls. No one could know the true answer as Glutton let out a vicious purple gas from his mouth that instantly knocked out the Troll King while he was in the air. One whiff of that toxic gas and neither head could remain awake. The king of trolls landed harmlessly on Glutton’s belly and soon was devoured just like the rest along with its armor and axe.

A dangerous and powerful monster known for its incredible regenerating ability was dealt with so easily. Those watching the absolute slaughter by Glutton were once again awed by its immense power. Feelings of relief and joy washed over them like a blow of cool air on a hot summer’s day. They were relieved that a monster like that had no interest in humans at all. After eating the Troll King, Glutton laid down on its back and seemingly fell asleep right out in the open without a care in the world. The Hunters watching could only realize that it was asleep from the loud snores that shook their bodies from the core.

Glutton stayed asleep for around 3 months after eating the Troll King. Many wondered why this was as it didn’t seem to have exerted much strength in its battle against the troll army. Some Monster Maniacs used this time period to record Glutton up close while others harboring more sinister goals attempted to harvest the monster for strength. For those wanting to harm the gentle giant, a group of defending Hunters swiftly took care of them and had them locked in prison. To the neighboring city of City Z, Glutton had immense research potential because of the fact it doesn’t actively go after humans. Perhaps if they were to find out why this is, maybe they could peacefully coexist with other monsters as well.

Unknown to them all, the swallowed Troll King wasn’t finished just because he was eaten. No, not at all. In fact, he continuously regenerated inside Glutton’s powerful stomach acid for months on end. It was because of this incredible healing factor of the trolls that Glutton didn’t need to eat in the 3-month period. However, even the Troll King’s healing factor had its limits against the Unique Monster Glutton. As it reduced the king to bones, its body continued to grow in strength from the troll’s powerful physique. Something that the Hunters watching over its resting body noticed because of its continued growth in size and energy emissions.

Many more Hunters came to investigate the sleeping body of Glutton during its 3-month sleep period. Some particularly daring and brave children Hunters even jumped and played on its belly. An action that was heavily criticized by the adults but something that the monster itself didn’t seem to mind all that much. Despite it being completely asleep, Glutton was still fully capable of walking around, eating, and doing other actions. At one point, it even grabbed a nearby Hunter and licked her before placing her back down and searching for other food. This was something that caused a massive craze within the Monster Maniacs as it made them question if humans tasted bad to Glutton and that was why he never tried to eat them.

And yes, He! During his slumber period there were moments when his penis would rise and flash any nearby Hunters with the size and flexibility of the thing. Many of the children Hunters were sent away during these moments but being the curious little superpowered humans that they were, they eventually found out what the adults tried to hide from them. Prompting several giggles and jokes about Glutton’s wee wee.

But that theory earlier about if humans tasted bad was swiftly shut down after they observed the type of stuff that Glutton was willing to put in its mouth. It ate literally anything! The monster didn’t care for the state of the food it ate: rotten, moldy, poisonous, it ate it all! So, the Monster Maniacs agreed that Glutton consciously refused to eat humans for some reason that they couldn’t quite understand yet. Hopefully they would be able to reach an understanding with the monster as they continued to research more about it.

Taking tufts of its fur, blood samples, fecal matter, and urine samples, the monster was more than useful for the study of its species and of monsters in general. It didn’t mind all the humans poking, prodding, and the children playing on it. However, it was capable of sensing those with ill-intentions somehow. There were more than a few times where Glutton would suddenly sit straight up when it was lying down to stare directly at a certain person or persons, following them with its closed eyes everywhere they went. People suddenly caught on to this strange mannerism of the creature after each person or group tried doing something that was not allowed by the Hunters who had positive feelings towards Glutton. They spared Glutton the work of dealing with them as they were locked up for trying to impede humanity’s efforts against the monsters. Officially recognizing that Glutton was a benefit to humanity in its passive and nonaggressive nature towards humans. If somehow a creature with its terrifying strength turned on humanity, the loss would be devastating for humans across the world. Short of a nuclear bomb or carpet bombing, no one knew what would be needed to take down Glutton.

Once the monsters arrived from the Dimensional Cracks, certain humans underwent a transformation all around the world. A transformation that gave them abilities previously only seen in fiction. Most of those humans used their abilities to combat against the invasive monster forces while others used them to support humanity’s defense in other ways. Like allowing scientists to study their transformed bodies, using their powers to support agricultural development, military development, or technology. However, the transformed weren’t the only ones that stood a chance against the monsters. Guns and other such weapons worked effectively but a few weeks after the initial Crack, people learned that harvesting the monsters and crafting their bones and such into weapons was a far more effective way of killing the monsters.

Doing this allowed them to realize that the crafted monster weaponry had the same ability as the monsters! Killing monsters increased the quality of the weapon and if brought to a high enough stage from several monster kills, it could also start to affect the weapon’s holder. Transforming them into a being capable of growing from killing monsters. This was the goal of every Hunter that didn’t undergo an Awakening.

“It's waking up!” Someone shouted, getting everyone's attention to focus in on Glutton.

Glutton finally finished digesting the Troll King.
