“You have been chosen.” A voice told her.
The voice was everywhere at once and didn’t come from a specific figure or direction. Its voice was mixed between a guy’s voice and a girl's voice, making it hard for her to know what gender it was. But what gender the voice was wasn’t as important as what it said. What has she been chosen for?
Victoria shot up from her bed with her head aching badly. She clutched her head with an annoyed disgruntled look on her face. Something was flowing into her head and her eyes felt very itchy. The young teenaged girl couldn’t make out what was coming into her brain but the irritation in her eyes was something she had to deal with right now.
Victoria fiercely rubbed her eyes in an attempt to soothe the itchiness but found no comfort in her attempts. This just made her even more upset, she wasn’t able to tell what time it was. Was she going to be late for school? That probably wasn’t the case, as her parents would definitely wake her up in time. With a displeased expression, she tossed her covers on to the floor and made her way to the bathroom. Victoria asked her parents for her own personal bathroom when she first started middle school and they happily agreed without asking any questions. She was prepared to give them hundreds of reasons why it would be better for her to have her own bathroom and it turns out that none of them were needed. It was around that point in her life that Victoria’s trust in her parents reached an all-time high.
Victoria’s bathroom was filled with everything she needed. Makeup, perfume, facial lotion, body lotion, deodorant, hand cream, two hairbrushes with one big and the other small, scrunchies, bobby pins, bath bombs, electric facial cleaning brush, nail polish, hair straightener, hair curler, and stuff like that. It was designed with a mix of light pink and white colors all over. Inspirational picture frames hung above her toilet and on the left side of the wide mirror that captured everything above her knees. If she stepped closer towards the door behind her, she would be able to get a full view of herself in the mirror.
The cold splash of water onto her face comforted the irksome itch she was feeling. It didn’t go away but it was a lot more bearable now, she could only squint her eyes open. Once she did, she nearly jumped back out of surprise. Were her eyes just red for a second!?
“What the hell?” Victoria muttered.
A few moments later, the itchiness stopped and she could see what happened to her eyes in full detail now. In the mirror, she saw herself with two blood-red eyes with two black dots in them. One was in the shape of a normal period while the other was a comma sign. The comma was aligned diagonally to the pupil in the middle. By now, the headache has faded and Victoria fully understood what these eyes were and what they could do.
“Sharingan? Am I still dreaming?” Victoria pinched the skin on her arm and felt the sharp pain.
This wasn’t a dream and she’s got magical eyes for some reason. There was no way she could hide eyes like these, not that she planned to. Victoria wasn’t really into superhero stuff and fantasy movies. But as a girl with common sense, she knew when to take advantage of a good thing. The newly empowered high schooler checked the time on her phone.
She had a few minutes before her alarm went off so, it wouldn’t be too early for her to start getting ready for school. Her parents are probably already up. They go to work nearly the same time she leaves for school. Victoria planned to break the news to them as honestly as she could. She didn’t do subtlety.
At the breakfast table, her mom and dad ate on the sides of the table while she ate at the end. It has been like this ever since she could remember. She never asked why they always sat in the same spots because it wasn’t that important. It was just something she noticed.
“Mom. Dad. I got something to tell you.” Victoria spoke up abruptly.
“Yes, sweetheart?” Her mom asked interested.

She hasn’t hidden her eyes or anything. They looked into each other eyes multiple times while eating. Neither of them said anything about it though. So, she’ll do it for them. Secretly, she was glad they didn’t overreact. Not that she expected them to.
“My eyes aren’t a fashion trend or contact lenses.” Victoria turned off her eyes with a strong blink and they returned back to the dark green eyes she normally had.
“I guess I got superpowers now or whatever.” Her eyes returned back to the Sharingan.
Her mom's fork dropped to the floor and her dad’s glasses fell into his toast. Mom could barely speak a word with her lips quivering. Dad was still dazed out at seeing her eyes change color like some sort of freak. Well, she was a freak but it’s whatever.
“Should we take you to the hospital?” She finally managed to ask.
“Does it hurt?” Dad asked.
“I feel fine. I just told you two so that you didn’t bother me later about it.” Victoria explained.
“So, uh... What can they do?” Dad asked, still has yet to pick his glasses up from his food.
“Can you shoot lasers? Or see really far away like a hawk?” She also asked.
”First one, no. Second one, yes. I’ll show you when I come back from school.” Victoria placed her cleaned plate in the dirty dishes and grabbed her purse.
“Be safe, honey? Can you protect yourself with your new eyes?” He asked.
“I’ll be fine.” She replied confidently, to ease his worries.
“Have a good day at school. We love you.” Mom said.
Victoria grabbed her keys hanging on the rack near the door and locked the door behind her. Starting up her car, she drove off to school playing her favorite music playlist on her phone. On her 16th birthday, her parents surprised her with her very own car. She didn’t ask for it or even hint about wanting a car for her 16th birthday but they got it for her and she loved them for it. That was when she put everything into learning how to drive for the new few months just to put some use in the car.
The roads were normally calm during this time of the morning, giving her plenty of time just to relax and enjoy her music. Victoria wondered if there was going to be a test in Algebra today. Mr. Finch was talking about there being a pop quiz soon but no exact date. How annoying. He didn’t even tell them what the quiz would be over if they did have one.
‘Pop quizzes suck.’ Victoria thought as the very air in front of her cracked and broke apart.
The world seemed to come to a slow crawl as two figures came flying out of the broken space. Victoria could clearly see a boy and a girl in clear detail. The boy had messy black hair, a lanky skinny figure, a t-shirt with the words “Get Lost!” on it, and ripped jeans. Blood dripped from his mouth and a sword made of something similar to his pants was used to defend against the girl. It looked as if he was losing in their fight.
The girl on the other hand wasn’t dressed as casual as the boy. She wore a black business suit, white tie, and loose slacks. Fire coated her hands, aimed straight at the boy from above. With her new eyes, Victoria could see that the boy was going to land right in front of her car! Not wanting her car to get ruined, she tried to swerve her car out of the way. As she was doing this incredible dangerous and risky move, Victoria could see a weird green gas inside their bodies.
It was moving incredibly quickly through their entire bodies. The boy’s gas came from the center of his stomach. The girl’s came from her heart. She didn’t know what this meant or if it mattered at all, but she couldn’t exactly not look at what was in front of her in impossible detail. A perk that came with her new eyes.
Victoria’s car narrowly missed the body of the lanky teen and continue down the highway. In her rearview mirror she could see his body bouncing painfully against the pavement as fire rained down on him. The aftermath of their magical fight was something Victoria wouldn’t find out. Her rapidly beating heart was much more concerned about her car’s safety than finding out that other people like her were around. Oh, and the fact that she could’ve died in a car crash because of those two reckless people who wanted to fight in the middle of the road!
“That almost ruined my day.” She muttered, very pissed off.
Victoria made it to school on time. It was still a bit early so, there wasn’t that many students in the hall. Especially none of her friends, who all decide to come to school whenever they wanted to. Victoria went into her locker and thought back on those two from earlier as she got her books for her first class.
Did she have that weird green gas in her body too? How would she get it to flow like they did? Victoria tried feeling her body and controlling something on the inside to move like the fire girl she saw but nothing happened no matter how hard she tried. Since the girl didn’t work, Victoria replicated the way the skinny boy used his green gas.
“Hmm? What’s going on with my shirt?” A strange tickling feeling came from within her stomach.
