The Barbarian King in Modern Times!

King Guk watched from his throne as his fellow brothers and sisters were wiped out once again by the invading tribe. These past few days, invading groups came day after day to wipe out his tribe. After defending his title as strongest barbarian, Guk noticed that his brothers and sisters returned from the dead without any memory of dying in the first place. It made him feel strange. Death was supposed to be the start of the next great adventure but it turns out death was an endless cycle. Was there any point in living if you were going to do everything the same from the beginning?

“King Barbarian, your loot will be mine!” A swordsman invader grinned at him.

His three allies smiled alongside him as they looked up at Guk from below his throne. Guk couldn’t help but stretch his lips with them. Despite his entire life and everything he knew as fact being put into question, King Guk couldn’t help himself from a good battle. His barbarian blood drew him to battle. It drew him to conquer. It demanded that violence was the number #1 solution to all his problems. So, he gave in.

“Heroes, I think that’s what the last group called people like you. Where I come from, the only heroes are dead men and gods. Tell me your purpose in constantly invading my territory.” King Guk had to ask before he fought. In the midst of battle, he typically lost sight of himself and killed the invaders before he could ask any questions.

“Uhm, are dungeon bosses supposed to ask questions like that?” The magic one questioned.

“Maybe he’s a unique boss. I heard that they usually act stranger than normal bosses that usually act like stereotypical mob bosses that only spout generic evil lines.” The warrior with a shield stated.

“Aren’t unique bosses super strong and super rare?” The healing one asked.

“Yeah, I heard that Omega Team ran into a unique boss and defeated it. When they defeated it, it dropped all sorts of crazy loot. Their leader Omega even got a growth-type weapon while his girlfriend snagged a talent potion that boosted her A+ magical talent into S-!”

“Looks like this is the start of our group’s rise to stardom.” The swordsman used some magic that buffed his physical parameters.

“So, you’re raiders...” Was what King Guk understood.

He did see his brothers and sisters dropping things when they died but just figured that it was their weapons falling out of their hands. Guk didn’t really look too closely. If they died it was because they just needed more training. Just because he was the tribe’s strongest king so far didn’t mean they should have let up in their training.

“Very well. Let’s begin.” King Guk gave in to the demands of his blood.

The Barbarian King’s elegant, calm, and royal air changed in an instant as he stood up from his throne. His bear-furred coat burst apart from the force of his muscles as he grabbed the two studded steel iron clubs on his back. His pupils disappeared and all lack of reason and sanity could be seen at a glance. Then, he let out an ear-shattering animalistic roar.

The roar disoriented the small team of Heroes. Left became right, right became left, and moving their heads caused an inverse reaction. None of the heroes noticed a blood-red aura faintly coming from the Barbarian King’s body. It looked like they would be crushed in moments if they didn’t quickly get their bodies back under control. Thankfully, the heroes came prepared. Their healer cast a cleansing buff on them, allowing them to quickly get their heads on straight.

“Strength buff! Magic buff! Speed Buff!” The healer casted several buffs at once, heavily draining him of his mana. He downed a blue liquid as his team charged the Barbarian King.

King Guk knew the capabilities of a healer after battling multiple heroes. While he may have looked like he lost his mind, he was still mostly in control. If he wanted to end this battle, all he had to do was target that person and the rest would fall soon after. But that wouldn’t be very fun for the Barbarian King.

What could be better for training than foes that know everything about you?! King Guk charged at the shielder like they wanted. His maces crashing into the large man’s shield. The shielder gritted his teeth as blood flowed from his lips while his body was crushed into the ground. But he stayed on his feet and the Barbarian King could respect a man like that. Even now after feeling the immense force of his blow, he still kept his wits about him.

“Shield Trip!” The shielder broke their clash and aimed low to trip King Guk off of his feet.

King Guk took the moment the shield-wearing warrior shouted the name of his attack to punish him. His twin maces directly broke the arms before he could successfully complete the skill. Then his body was shoved away from a brutal shoulder bash. Just as the shielder was sent flying, the others have already finished preparing their skills.

“Judgement Slash!”

“Lightning Strike!”

“Weaken!”

Their attacks came all at once. A cloud of smoke buried King Guk as the heroes celebrated their victory over the unique boss in the dungeon. The swordsman smiled proudly and raised his sword his triumph. The mage reminded their healer to quickly go to the tank. The injury he suffered looked quite bad.

“Oh, right.” The healer ran over to the unconscious tank.

“Heroes! I am not finished!” King Guk’s voice froze the heroes solid.

The smoke cleared up, revealing the Barbarian King’s impressive figure. A lightning bolt scar ran down his chest along with his skin blackening like a demon from the shadows. King Guk tossed his spiked mace at the frozen mage. His weapon crushed the fragile spell caster’s chest cavity before somehow flying straight back to King Guk’s hand.

“You bastard!” The swordsman charged the unique boss with rage in his eyes.

“What kind of leader are you?” King Guk reaped the young man’s throat and strangled him.

The king of the barbarians looked over at the remaining heroes huddled near the wall. He cracked the swordsman’s neck and casually tossed him to the ground. King Guk made his way over to the helpless healer. She shivered like a leaf as a funny smell entered King Guk’s nose.

“Lead me to your land.” King Guk gave her three seconds before he stomped the ground in front of her.

The ground cracked apart and she screamed in terror before running away. King Guk grabbed her wrist before she could leave his sight. He knew he couldn’t leave his territory on his own but what if he had the help of a ‘hero’? Would the barrier still stand in his way?

Once they made it to the barrier, the healer could easily make her way out but King Guk was met with the barrier once again. He kept his grip firm on the woman’s arm as he repeatedly punched the barrier with all his strength. Eventually, using all of his strength, the Barbarian King shattered the magical barrier and finally broke free of the prison he was forcefully placed in. The smell of fresh air entered his nostrils and a relief filled his heart. The smell of a new adventure was beginning!

“Why don’t I have a little taste of my new freedom? Come here, girlie.” The Barbarian King took what he wanted despite her pitiful resistance.

After satisfying himself for a while, he left the broken reward in the middle of the forest and explored these new lands. Since his lands were continually raided by raiders. It would only be fair to do the same by raiding their lands and looting their belongings. The Barbarian King did what barbarians do.

The Barbarians were a savage race when in conflict. A state of being that they seemed uncomfortable to be without. Simple things could make the warrior race content. Women, alcohol, contests of strength, fighting, growing stronger. Out of all the human vices, Barbarians were most weak to lust, pride, and anger.

King Guk caused havoc in the human world after being freed. Along the way of the dungeon he escaped, he encountered several villages in the forest. Men were defeated and or killed, women were taken and impregnated if they survived lasting with him, and any local heroes met the same fate. King Guk took particular interest in taking female heroes with interesting abilities. A strong woman that mated with him would make strong babies. Strong babies to continue his legacy across the world. In the past, he used to think after dying in battle, he would travel through the Dead Lands doing this but after finding out that death was nothing but an endless cycle, now was the time to give in to all his inner desires.

Nothing was capable of stopping King Guk until he reached F City. A modern metropolis filled with high, low, and expendable Heroes. The Barbarian King met his first match taking on an army of heroes. Of course, not before having some fun with all the much prettier city women. That was how he got caught in the first place by bedding some famous woman in her apartment.
