39th chapter : starting point of development.

While everything started to get clear for the red mermaid members. As a vice master Alice was the first one to eventually pull out the second phase of the euro flow control. Quite the easy feat for her, the others also started to get hyped wanting to work harder so they can reach even higher states.

On Xavier’s and Arthur’s side.

“That’s our vice master for you! But it’s already time to stop running too, Don’t you think!! Arthur!”.

Xavier said as the two of them were pulling a good pace far from the three wolves that followed them. Arthur on the other side was impressed and jealous at the same time therefore he took a deep breath and fastened a little more to pull off an attack at the wolves.

Xavier knew he would pull it out as he sighed because of it. The wolves split around by instinct and were about to catch Arthur, he was in the middle of the air after jumping from a tree to the first wolf in front of him.

“You really tend to play the hero when it’s not needed, kid!”.

Xavier somehow pulled off the same trick as Alice and instantly jumped, grabbing Arthur from the shirt and sprinting far away in the opposite direction where the wolves came from. After a harsh sprinting just like an arrow that had been shot, Xavier took a seat on a tree, putting Arthur down too.

“I had them in my hands!” Arthur pouted as he was looking around.

Xavier looked at him then sighed as he forgot the fact that Arthur was still an eleven years old kid. Although knowing that fact Xavier skipped it and said what he had in mind.

“You know you’re a great holder by now though you don’t have a serment. You can do it if you try a bit harder!! plus I’m out of gas now so let’s take a rest before the wolves return”.

Xavier’s words made Arthur stop for a second, as Arthur himself wasn’t expecting that kind of words.

Looking at how Marco always treated Arthur as a kid since they’re brothers, Xavier’s words made Arthur think about what he really needed to do, not what he wanted to do. Arthur grinned a little then started laughing out loud.

Xavier was startled by that sudden laugh.

“idiot, They’ll spot us!! Why are you laughing!?!” Xavier didn’t understand the meaning behind Arthur’s laugh as it showed his relief.

“Ah! sorry. They’ll come in about thirty seconds by now so let’s start running again but this time!” Replied Arthur.

Arthur apologized then looked around him taking a deep breath after focusing on a target. It was a small tree compared to others but for Arthur it was large enough.

As the wolves instantly spotted them, Xavier looked at Arthur heading to that tree.

“What’re you up to?” Xavier calmly asked.

Both him and Arthur were confident in outrunning the wolves.

“I’ll be the one to surpass everyone!!”.

Arthur calmly released a sudden euro cloak out of nowhere dashing towards the tree with everything he got. He blew it at the wolves fiercely by kicking it with both legs while strengthening every muscle in his feet.

Xavier was surprised as the others felt the sudden rise of euro particles in the vibes of the air, right at the moment that Arthur blew the tree that fell on the wolves.

“After all!! I’m Arthur Deca!! Gehehe!!”.

Arthur grinned as he clenched his fists while looking at the wolves trying to get up again, that was his way of showing his own resolve. On the other hand, Marco grinned at that scene.

Soon after doing too high jumps, both Arthur and Xavier were out of strength as they fell on their knees powerless.

For Zack and Alex's side it was quite balanced.

“Sigh, I hate running and I hate these wolves more!!”

Alex was complaining as she was running away, dodging any wolf that came to bite her.

“You complain a lot. Plus! our punches won’t deal anything so just keep running” Zack said as he climbed a tree to avoid being hit.

Alex saw him and sighed as she knew pretty much that out of all the five of them besides Arthur, Zack is the most well built and fluent in movements.

“You’re making me sick!!”.

She roared as she looked behind to see that the three wolves were rushing towards her. Alex took a deep breath looking around then slowly stopped running.

“What are you doing idiot!?” Startled Zack.

Zack was worried as he was about to go rescue her therefore Alex smiled calmly then looked straight at the wolves. Her breathing became more balanced alongside the wolves’ breathing somehow, she felt a strange feeling that made her run ahead to the wolves’ blind spot and trespass them with ease as if she was going down a water pool.

Soon afterwards, she returned back to her senses.

Zack was surprised by what she just did and instantly held her up, dashing at full speed. He got away from the wolves.

“What was that?” Zack asked keenly, jumping from tree to tree.

Alex took some seconds to process the things as she realized that she used a euro flow control method to look for a good path, as if she was sensing not seeing.

“I don’t have a proper reply but, why are we flying over the trees?” she responded eventually.

Zack responded, laughing it out like it was nothing.

Alex snapped out of it as she looked at him moving more freely than the others because of that.

“Haaa!!! Are you telling me that you figured it out !!!!”.

She was more shocked than surprised. Zack on the other side was calm looking at a safe place to drop her.

Right after that Marco met with them.

“You’re out ! ” Marco flicked Zack on the forehead with a small pack of paper as he mentioned that it was cheating at some point.

Alex was angrier by that, continuing to run on her own after slapping both of them as hard as she could.

“Why did she slap me?” Marco asked as he was looking at her running hard.

“Don’t ask me. I only wanted to train my body more” Zack calmly responded as both sighed knowing that she got mad at them because of their own abilities

Later that day.

“So how’s the results so far?”. Alba asked Marco while both were working in the restaurant for a night shift.

“Hmm , Zack senpai was the only one who succeeded so far”.

Marco responded as it sounded natural for him but not for Alba who stopped working for a few seconds then calmly kept smiling at Marco.

“Is there something wrong?” Marco asked him.

“You know, I don’t wanna admit it but are your friends some kind of hidden talents?” Alba looked at him while pointing at Marco too.

“Gahaha!! not only Zack nii but me too!!” Arthur came down as he heard the conversation from far.

Looking at how he responded, Alba took a deep breath then exhaled it all, shrugging his shoulders down.

“I was convinced that they would take a whole month to do it but being able to enter the second phase and use it freely, only after a week or two so far. I guess I’m dreaming, that’s right, I’m dreaming!!”.

Alba was having such a calm smile on him while finishing his job as one of the regular customers responded, crushing the reality of Alba’s

“You’re not dreaming old man!! even Marco’s sudden growth had surprised us too!! Hahaha!! I mean who thought he would be so popular just the day after returning here!!”

The regular looked at Marco with a calm smile, while Marco who was ignoring them and working calmly responded first.

“I just helped some of you and you’re saying that I became popular?” His response showed that he didn’t really care what status he was in.

After finishing the work, seeing that everything got done, most of the red mermaid went to sleep as they were mad at Zack for keeping his own status a secret until now.

“Staying here alone isn’t really good, you know. This is still a criminals’ place although I don’t think they’ll try to get closer. Here, have this”.

Alone in the middle of the night Marco took a seat with Carla on the roof after giving her some hot chocolate drink as they looked down at the city. The mood was calm as Carla suddenly said.

“Hey, how did you get used to living here?”. Her question was quite straightforward.

Upon hearing her question, Marco realized that she returned to being gloomy again hinting that something happened. He exhaled, drank some of his coffee then patted her head for a while.

“I don’t really know myself but looking at how I lived my life up till now I just got used to it”.

His response wasn’t really helping as she looked at him with a poker face by the end of his talk.

Marco somehow didn’t expect that again and flicked her forehead.

“What was that for!!?” She was a little bit mad.

“Here, have a look at this.” Marco responded, ignoring her question then made her look at the city for a second.

“It’s not something that I can really call a miracle but you’ll be able to witness it on your own after a few days”.

Marco unleashed some euro particles in the air then snapped his fingers to make them sparkle around. The city naturally became more lightened as if they were sitting around the milky-way.

Upon looking at what Marco just did, Carla turned aside, hiding her face for a few seconds as Marco saw that she was biting her lips from sadness at what she saw.

He heaved a sigh then patted her head again.

“if you want to cry or even hit me then go ahead”.

Marco calmly announced as she instantly looked straight at him with a teary sad face, about to slap him yet stopped as she said.

“Why?!”

he sighed then kept patting her head.

“Well, to be perfectly honest. I don’t get the idea of crying over things that you can’t do in the meantime. You may say it’s frustrating but isn’t that just out of jealousy?”.

His response made Carla try and hit him but Marco avoided it and laid down on his back.

“On a second thought I won’t let you hit me. Also, even if hitting me would make you feel better I guess that’s not what would make me not notice that you’re frustrated at some point” Marco responded as he stood again to avoid her hit.

“What do you mean?!” she asked.

“Well, If we are talking about jealousy. Then, I guess I should be the one who’s really jealous, you made your way to my siblings heart way faster than I did and even the rest of the red mermaid did too. More or less I look like a third wheel in this kind of situation” Marco responded, making her stop hitting him for a second.

She looked a little surprised but sad at the same time.

“What do you…”.

Carla said but got interrupted by Marco again as he said.

“It’s ok to run away or even cry. That’s natural when you can’t do things, nonetheless you can rely on your family and friends” He kept patting her head, slowly caressing her hair “After all, it’s all what we can do, Is to rely on that small ray of hope”.

The second that Marco stopped talking Carla let out her tears then covered her face as she kept crying silently.

Marco realized it was for her own good to let out the negative emotions with that cry as he looked aside to avoid getting her in the awkward moment.

He stood then took a step towards the door at the back so he could watch over her from far. He took a seat again and a sudden cough made him startled as he was lost spacing out in something else.

“Ahhem!! I didn’t know that you’re the kind of romantic type” Alex said as she looked at him with a smug face.

“Mostly not, and why are you here in the first place?” Marco responded, asking her.

“I came to say that beds won’t be filling themselves, also I want to read the notes again. Can you lend it to me?” she answered as she was looking at how Carla was immersed in her own moment of sadness before she would get up and get inside on her own.

After seeing that Carla entered back to the house, Marco and Alex looked at each other for a second then grinned eagerly.

“If you can release that sensing state you reached earlier in the training I would give you more hints, I’m the sensei now”. Marco addressed her, breaking the mood as he calmly took his leave.

Alex took a deep breath, subsequently started roaring on her.

“You damn sucker you want a beating!!”.

She pretty much got her cheeks spanked by Alba because of yelling in the middle of the night.

“Seems like I can run off on my own for now, sigh” Alex said as she was sleeping with Carla and Alice in the same room as Sophie.

“Seems like! The three of us are determined at some point since the boys have been showing more outstanding results recently” Alice added as she gazed at the ceiling.

The three of them sighed as they looked aside to Sophie who was happily sleeping and dreaming on her own.

In that aspect, she let out her bunny ears and a small grin, the three of them clicked their tongues as Carla spoke.

“She’s too cute for us to be mad at her and she’s as talented as her damn old brother”.

Alice and Alex confirmed the fact and sighed again, turning their eyes back to the ceiling.

“Guess, we gotta pull a stand on our own now. Plus, Vice master!! you did it too even if it was for a small amount” Alex was mad for some reason.

“I’m not sure but what he said matched how I work using my serment. it’s true that we don’t have it on us now so as a trick try to imagine that your body is the serment”

Alice spoke what she had in mind to help them as both Carla and Alex looked at her with a happy face.

They both understood nothing from what Alice explained.
