17th chapter : Night hunting – 2 –
On the other side of the forest,
“Sigh, they never intend to come to my side, man this is harsh” Zack said as he was cleaning his serment from the blood of the monsters.
He was fighting a small group of monsters that came to his side of the city.
“Shut up airhead, they were at least B rank!! and a group of 40, sigh , I live with a bunch of weirdos ” Alex said as she was scanning the area for what’s left.
“He’s not the only one, man. I wish we could fight something worthy!” Xavier spoke after him as he took down the last one of them with his arrows protecting Marco’s house.
“I know you have gained enough strength but you two need to prioritize the safe area first, we’re still doing this for at least a week, ah shit I blew it away!!” Alice replied as she was fighting the mid monster and accidentally blew him off the forest.
“I’ll finish it off!!” Marco said as he suddenly passed next to Alice who was about to follow him.
The monster got blown to the front side where the car’s road can be seen down from the cliff.
Few minutes before the monster could get blown ,
Marco and Carla were following the monster. They were leaping from chain to chain as Marco was holding Carla in his arms while moving.
“I don’t really see another choice but why were you fighting with your serment sealed earlier?” Carla asked.
“You said that I don’t have to speak with you until we finish this, and I can fight even without my serment” Marco replied as he dropped her off.
“heeh!!? we need to talk about this later!!” Carla said as she released her serment blocking a hit.
Marco instantly followed and slashed that monster down.
“I’ll head first ” Marco said as he leaped at full speed with the help of chains.
As he was moving fast, Marco was taking down monsters as soon as he saw them with wind thrusts, he reached up Alice then passed next to her and went ahead to the mid monster who jumped off the cliff to the road trying to run away to other cities. Marco placed himself well with chains and in an instant pierced through the monster as well as slamming it onto the ground with his black sword.
The monster’s smack made a good impact on the road leaving some cracks. There was one car but luckily it didn’t get in the way of the monster, therefore the driver was shocked to the point where he went out to check.
Marco saw that coming then instantly erased his memories with a single touch on the back of his head making him unconscious for seconds.
Later that day,
“Aaah!! the mission is really hard, is it only our city that gets targeted like this?”.
Carla and Marco were complaining in the middle of the day at the restaurant while working as the hunting ended at 4am in the morning, leaving them only with three hours of sleep before waking up to work.
“Just tough it up for the rest of the week, also you both said that Arthur’s birthday is next week. So work and shut the hell up!!” Alice said as she was mad at Marco for stealing her prey.
“Hai!! also you still didn’t tell me what you meant by, I can fight without my serment?” Carla said in the middle of their work triggering the mad Alice.
“huh!?” Alice blurted out one voice.
A raged reaction was the thing that Marco was waiting for but Alice instead went ahead and closed the door of the restaurant before it even gets opened.
“huh?! Why did you close the doors we didn’t even open…where are you going?!” Xavier asked as he was looking at Alice acting strangely.
“Shut up and Call Alex, tell her it’s an order from the vice master!” she replied furiously.
“What’s with her?” he asked again, addressing Marco.
“Don’t ask me?” he replied not knowing what was going on Alice’s head.
An hour later, he had to deal with something else.
“uhm, can you really tell me why I need to do this!?”.
Marco spoke with a low voice after finding himself running away from the furious Alice.
“Don’t run away and fight me like a man!!” she roared
“Sorry!! I get the idea!! I won’t steal any prey next time!!” he shouted while running.

The two were in the middle of the training grounds down the restaurant where he fought Carla for the first time, Alice sighed and instantly leaped right to his side, as she reached him Marco stopped.
“Listen, I’m not mad about what you did or for stealing the prey but the way you are hiding things from us!!” Alice said as she released her serment letting a strong euro pressure.
Marco sighed as everyone was looking too.
“Well, are you willing to fight properly or I should beat your ass here!!?” she asked.
“Just one question” he replied “ would you believe me if I spoke about it?”.
Marco’s question was simple yet Alice didn’t answer him and attacked directly, Marco took the hit and got blown away.
Alice blew Marco to the other side as she was mad.
“tsk, tsk, tsk, can you start fighting properly now? I was bored until she suggested this, get up Marco!!” Yuna kept yawning on his face as well as teasing him for not speaking the truth from the beginning.
“You know, Alice senpai and Carla already heard my side of the story but didn’t want to believe me,” Marco said, replying to Yuna’s words.
“Who are you speaking with!!”.
Alice yelled as she was about to land a hit on him therefore Marco dodge it in the last second and blew her up with a punch to the jaw. The punch was reinforced with wind as it made Alice fly away from where she was standing.
“I wasn’t speaking with you! also I don’t wanna fight someone who I think of her as dear as a loved one to me” Marco yelled as he was mad about what Alice did.
On the other hand, Alice stood up spitting blood from the afterwave of Marco’s sudden attack.
“That hit right now, what are you hiding besides fighting without the serment?! Since when can you do that too?! ” Alice asked as she approached him. “you’re too calm, and you don’t care about a lot of things. we had months to get used to the scary aura of master Emilis but you hadn’t flinch a bit, you killed six guys like you already knew how to fight or something like that, you instantly guarded that girl’s attack like you already knew that she’ll do that, you was able to do something to the driver earlier let alone finish the monster with one hit not to mention completely eradicate its body form. I don’t hate you or something but this kind of thing I hate it, we told you we are a family so speak up! What are your objectives!?! what else do you have up your sleeve?”.
Alice was starting to get anxious after that hit from Marco who sighed and released his serment.
“Well, I don’t wanna fight but I don’t wanna hide things too. If it’s ok….”.
Before Marco would finish his words his chains suddenly appeared on the right side blocking Alice’s punch. Thus blocking it, Alice made her way through and dealt some damage to Marco, blowing him again. He lost his balance for a second but he balanced himself back again therefore he didn’t catch a grip where Alice was.
Marco couldn’t follow the very first hit as he lost sight of her from the first hit, he took a deep breath and instantly dodged a hit from the back as Alice appeared to be behind him. He thought he dodged the attack but Alice had landed a punch to his guts making him spit blood and getting smacked down. Fortunately Marco had defended himself with his chains minimizing the damage but that couldn’t stop him from getting hurt.
“I told you, are you willing to fight properly or I should beat your ass!!” Alice roared.
She yelled right in his face as the only thing Marco was focusing on was her serment that looks like purple scales around her legs and arms as well as a few scales that materialize around her elbows when she punches.
Marco was calm as he looked straight to her eyes releasing a cold bloodlust, he willed to fight seriously. Alice let him go out of instinct and as she did that Marco had immediately caught her with chains and pulled her to him then kicked her to the face blowing her away. Alice wasn’t expecting that, as she recovered her balance she was about to attack again but Marco did the same thing as her. She could only hear a sound of clapping chains, Marco stood then instantly leaped using chains as he was about to thrust from the left side with his serment therefore Alice was quick to catch as both landed a hit on each other.
Alex and the rest were watching silently as they knew Alice won’t be stopped if she got mad this way and Marco ended it with adding oil to the fire.
As both landed a strong hit, Marco and Alice stood facing each other. Marco took a deep breath right before the two would clash again, He grabbed her punch as his arm got severally cut by the force of the hit therefore he landed a strong blow on her guts too after grabbing her arm before he would let her go, Alice felt that hit but she grabbed his head and smacked it head to head. Marco did the same as both were fighting furiously exchanging fists from all sides.
“You’re doing well for the first time fighting me!!” Alice roared right at him before she would blow him away.
Marco didn’t respond and remained calm regaining his balance after that blow, Alice soon came after as Marco was on his knees. she was about to attack him but Marco pulled some chains dragging her from the legs right to the other side, strangely she couldn’t break the chains and kept getting dragged.
Marco was taking a small amount of rest between each clash as he felt that Alice herself wasn’t at full strength despite that she dealt a really heavy damage to him. He exhaled his breaths before returning some steps to the back. Alice felt something weird as she was about to attack Marco who suddenly vanished from her sight.
Without knowing what happened and moving only on instinct Alice blocked an attack from the back but got hit on the other side as the attack she blocked was a fast chain swing. Marco was on the right side landing a fatal strike with a wind thrust.
“Ugh!” Alice was damaged.
“What was that !! ” Carla and Xavier said, as the only thing they saw was a gentle swing from Marco’s hand to her wrist.
Alice was about to hit Marco again as she retreated some steps in addition she lost composure when she saw Marco’s black sword floating in front of her face. In that instant, Marco had kicked the chains next to her face so the hit would come from the other side then landed another wind thrust right to the guts smacking her down right after grabbing his sword.
Marco forgot himself and he was about to stab Alice right on the arm out of total concentration. Alice felt danger and turned the table on him as she released her second release when she got smacked down. Marco was blown away and totally burned by blue flames as Alice stood. She took a deep breath looking at Marco as well as remembering his green eyes which reincarnated the bloodlust of death. Therefore, she was shocked as she clearly knows that her blue flames can’t be undone, she saw Marco erasing them like nothing while not holding his black sword who was next to her.
The next thing she saw was Marco using his curse mode with his shirt half torn and his body full of scars.
“What the heck are you!?” Alice asked as she was about to block an attack but her serment got sealed back and Marco fell on his knees out of the blue.
“That’s my limit when I get beaten up, three seconds in the curse mode” Marco said as he got all torn up and his body lost a lot of blood.
Alice was more shocked as she rushed to him with the others but Marco quickly got up as if nothing happened to him. Despite that, he clearly stood to get back to fight as if he suspected the others to join up Alice’s side, thinking that he was some monster.
