55th chapter : clarifying the things .
As things were going smoothly on a friendly reunion with Fabia and her girls. The red mermaid members were taking it easy and sparring with each other. Right after some time, Alex found out that she had to go to the school because of a meeting that the councilor that arrived later on, asked for.
“Uhm, thank you to all the teachers who accepted my offer and came for this quick meeting. Mostly, the kind lady councilor here was worried about the sake of the students, so she asked for this meeting to clarify for us everything we need to know about the incident that happened recently, and what we can do about the near future.”
The principal had started with a quick introduction of the teachers’ names for Elise after he did the small debriefing as to why all the teachers and workers were called. Elise greeted them one by one so she could better communicate with everyone.
“For now, it’s better to start with what we call the euro society”.
Elise smiled at them as they all felt like it’s gonna be a long meeting. Sensing that small boredom within their feelings, Elise also wanted to keep it quick to prove her worth for this meeting.
“The euro society existed a long time ago. The world was evolving so as our euro society was too. At that time, the council that existed from hundreds of years ago was the one that keeps everything in check, and punishes any person that would expose our identity to the human world. It was a rough work to get everything in check indeed since there’s the troublemakers who call themselves a guild such as red mermaid for example, who supposedly almost broke this deal to the world many times along the past ten years, however they’re like dogs too so we can control them and we did every time they supposedly slipped down the road”
Elise spoke and so everyone had the same thought -She said the word supposedly in a completely full of hatred way-, she said those hurtful words in order to mock Alex, therefore it wasn’t effective at all.
Alex was totally spacing out, not listening as she was looking out of the window on purpose. Elise felt that it was obvious but she kept the composure, continuing to introduce her underlined points to the teachers who saw her looking at Alex. The atmosphere was too obvious to the point where Sia told Alex to give attention to what Elise was saying.
“Alex! Please pay attention!! This is important to all of us!!” Sia whispered.
“Ahem!! anyway, the thing that we call serments is something special that gives strength for any human mostly, and in the euro society we call whoever has a serment, a holder. There's ranks and other systems to classify them, to practice your right in releasing a serment it’s either that you belong to a guild or you work for the council”.
Elise again looked at Alex who was getting bored. She exhaled a sigh out loud for that single reaction.
After seeing Elise releasing her serment, most of the teachers were surprised, as for them this is the first unleashed serment they’d get to see up close.
“This thing is mostly not something special. I guess two of the teachers here have received a serment too, but they don’t know how to release them yet. Like I said before there’s classes and types for the serments all around the society, and my type is a navigator. I’m someone who her serment works as a map for example to scan and get information. On a different matter, what you see on this graph here is the percentage of the people that have serments in this city. What level of euro this city is classed and what you should do for it to settle down to the minimum classified order” she pointed out the major rules so far, “I’ll be present during the next month until the next festival event”
Elise said, pointing at a graph that was drawn on the board using her serment along with giving everyone some papers as a resume. The principal looked happy at the smooth going of the meeting up until now, while the mumbling of the teachers also seemed to be in favor of her work. All in all, Elise’s presentation proved to be worth the wait as she even stated in the resumes detailed briefing on each present teacher and worker in that meeting.
“Thank you very much Beta san, I’m sure that we will all love having you in assistance for the next month”.
He praised her with a smile however the principal stayed in an awkward position as Alex yawned in the middle of his talk. For him what Alex had just done was unjust.
“Is there a problem, Miss Van?” he asked, fuming with anger.
Alex looked at him, heaving a sigh as she had to answer although addressing a different topic.
“Elise! These are low details, you know that, right?”.
Alex was calmly pointing at the papers as Elise didn’t want to show that she was mad and kept that smile up. The tension in the room started rising unexpectedly for the others.
“Miss Van!! Please apologize!!” The Principal growled as he was mad at Alex who looked aside, ignoring his words.
“Oy!! Alex what are you doing?!!”.
Sia whispered, asking Alex with a worried expression. Alex turned to look at her then smiled, unexpectedly she looked like a rebellious child who’s about to do some problems.
“Well for starters, I’m not saying anything but you know! Elise! the ones whom you called a dogs’ guild can do better than this! and as far as I remember I’m the only navigator in the red mermaid” said Alex with a smirk knitted from right to left on her cheeks.
Alex stood as she put the papers down next to Elise who was barely keeping her composure. The teachers were surprised by her statement since Alex didn’t put herself in light like what Emilis or Alice did back then as she thought that it was better to keep it simple until she needs to speak up for it. And for a surprise it was quite the deal with the people from the school grounds here.
“What do you mean, Miss Van?” the principal asked.
“With all my respect, principal. I have no obligation to apologize to my little sister here who thinks she did a good job”.
Alex answered then released her serment. The teachers were surprised by what Alex did say as she continued to talk after making Elise and the principal take a seat. The cheesy smile of victory didn’t leave her face for quite a few seconds until she started speaking.
“Anyway, I’m gonna finish what is needed on this graph since it uses euro particles to maintain itself. I’ll put it on the meeting’s table so everyone can see. The red lights are for the ones who already know about the euro society and the blue ones are for the new awakened, you can see their vitals and life signals too. So for now let’s call the red, the old generation, and the blue ones the new generation for better explanation”.
Alex showed an extraordinary work in just a few seconds making Elise feel embarrassed about her own work. On the other hand, the teachers and workers of the school were almost flabbergasted that this much information could be gathered in a matter of thirty seconds at max.
Again, Alex showed stunning results.
“I also added a small resume on everyone’s side so that you could see the old generation’s files and summaries. The council who originally sent my little sister Elise, had given originally an order for my guild to observe this school and look for any abnormalities, but in real it was a fake order since they knew the none holder humans can’t awaken out of nowhere but look at us now” Alex said as she looked at Elise.
“I’m glad that you can do a good job as a show off Alex, but I can’t just step aside because you did that. If I’m sure about the intel I have, only the guild master, Emilis is in a state of being recognized as a defender for the city. The other members aren’t strong enough to be recognized as protectors”.
Elise said as she pointed at the levels that Alex displayed on the guild members. Looking at how Cedric pointed it first to leave it a secret for what they were doing until now and how much their levels raised up, what was shown in the graph was a fake info based on the old data that the council had along with not mention most of the new members such as Vanica who returned from the toss realm and Sam who just arrived back to the city. Alex looked entertained by Elise’s way of trying to embarrass her in front of the other teachers.
“Ah! for that I was going to do a demonstration!! counting me too there were five holders who used to attend this school so why not call them here for us!!”.
Alex’s smile was genuinely devilish as she opened her phone making the teachers wonder what is gonna happen next.

“Why the heck did she call for us, again?”
Ralph said as he was in the middle of the school yard along with Maria and Rachel, waiting for anything new.
“Don’t know, but if she recognized us as members of the red mermaid!! I can accept that!!” Rachel said, enthusiastic as usual.

“So she called for you three too, then what did she want from me?” Marco greeted as he arrived a little late than the others.
Maria and the other two were surprised to see him again, given that the red mermaid is currently trying to patch up a small system for the city to work with.
“I’m glad that you came in time!! right here!!”.
Alex waved at them with a happy shining face as If she just won a war. The four of them looked at each other before heaving a sigh then approached her as they saw the teachers with her too.
“The students from the student council, and!?”.
the principal asked as they saw the three bowing to pay respect to the teachers.
“Marco Deca. Don’t tell me you forgot one of the students that studies here, principal?”.
Marco answered, looking at Alex who had everything written on her face along with Cedric explaining the whole ordeal. He sighed as the teachers looked at him, having an annoyed expression on him.
“Hey! at least pay respect too!!”.
Maria made him bow for the teachers. After that, Alex didn’t waste her time and told Elise to take her time in questioning anything she wants from these four. Indeed Elise took her time with the questions after that.
“Uhm, for now like I told the teachers. These four are holders from the older generation like we called it earlier, they’ve known the euro society before the rising incident” Alex said as she patted Rachel and Maria on the shoulder.
That cheesy smirk never left her face.
“What did you call us for Alex sensei?” Rachel couldn’t hold her curiosity.
“Nevermind that little girl! It’s my time actually to ask the questions”.
Elise said, dropping down what was needed to be known first.
“First of all, I need you guys to demonstrate how to release a serment for the teachers once again, since you guys are a different type than me or my little sister Elise here!” Alex asked, vigilantly giving the first tasks and ignoring Elise’s words.
“Wait? your little sister?” Marco asked, pretty much he was surprised about that.
“That’s what she likes to call me but we aren’t related by blood, that’s all I can say for sure” Elise responded instead.
Marco looked at her, knowing that Elise is from the orphanage too, he dropped his curiosity after that to let the event go on.
“I guess we need to apologize for keeping this a secret from the teachers. Please understand that talking about the euro society in the normal world is forbidden and the penalty is death or exile”.
Maria spoke, apologizing as she took the first step ahead, her serment looked like a scarf tied to the back along with some small thorns on her, on the back of her waist, she turned around to show her serment in a full image.
“My abilities aren’t well developed so I’m not cut for fighting, I’m more of an assassin I guess so I hope you understand” she said in embarrassment.
Maria flustered a little as she sealed back her serment and left the pace for Ralph, not seeing that most of the teachers were scared of how composed she described herself a moment ago.
Ralph advanced after her, grinning happily.
“I’m the same as Maria, my abilities need more work to be perfect”.
He said, releasing his serment that looks like a gauntlet with an ammo loader pinned on top of the back of his shoulder.
“That’s impressive in my opinion, I guess!!” Sia praised him as she couldn’t help it but to comment on her student’s hardships.
Ralph and Maria smiled genuinely as they accepted the compliments. Sia was a lovable teacher.
“Sorry for not saying that we know about the euro society!! and my serment is the newest one since out of the four of us, I got it three months ago but I cannot say that I’m not using it in one way or another! I’m a navigator type!!”.
Rachel was stressed as she released her serment. The teachers were surprised to see the watch on her wrist and the 3D view that she gets from the serment’s witchcrafts. Rachel bowed to them as she felt complimented for a first.
“I guess that’ll leave me as last. First, I apologize the same as the others although I only had a hunch that it was forbidden to talk about the euro society, therefore my reason for not attending the classes is still the same as always” Marco said as he rubbed the back of his hair while talking.
After finishing his words, Marco acted like he was hesitant in releasing his serment leaving the teachers waiting to see what he had in his hands, although it was just an act that Cedric told him to do for the sake of Alex.
Marco sighed as he didn’t like to act like that, he took off his glasses and released it to the black sword. Unlike the others Marco was the most one that his serment screams that he is a combatant type. Elise chuckled as she saw it, since on the standards of a combatant type even a knife comes with something more peculiar for the holder’s safety. He saw that she was mocking him with these laughs as Sia tried to encourage him after that.
“Ehehe!! I guess Marco kun’s weapon is good in a way, right !?!”.
She was desperate to help Marco who didn’t care much about Elise’s expected reaction. Alex saw that and smiled at him, she was happy that Sia is a pure hearted teacher.
“So I guess it’s time to put the other demonstration on to go” Alex saw Marco sighing at her statement.
“What do you mean sensei?” Rachel asked.
“It means that the yard is better to show them that their members are still weak and can’t protect the people from the monsters or the terrorist-holders in this city. Just so you know I’m ranked above the 100th ranks of the council class and each holder that passes those ranks would receive a strict training regiment even if we are navigators. In other words for you teachers, my strength equals an Advanced D class combatant holder”.
Elise said, preparing herself by taking off the jacket of the uniform, Marco looked at Alex then to Maria as he put on a smug face.
For the others, understanding what Elise wanted to deliver was on Alex’s shoulder to give it on, therefore it was Rachel who spoke, briefing the type of this situation. The mumbling of the teachers didn’t stop as the principal stepped ahead, trying to dispel the demonstration fight.
“No matter how this is labeled, this is quite barbaric, miss Beta! Please cease this and we can try to understand the real level of this new system!!” pleaded the principal.
His answer however didn’t come out from Elise but rather from the student council’s students.
“You have to accept it, principal. there’s no other way than this!” spoke Ralph.
“It’s quite complicated for everyone here indeed, but it’s just the only way to actually demonstrate the difference between a holder human and a normal human, miss Beta here is trying to make you understand that” Rachel said.
The teachers looked at each other before seeing Alex not even bothered to speak up about it, Alex on the other side looked like she was having a different conversation with Marco and Maria.
“So Marco!! You’re my trump card here!! Show her what we can do and please do it so hard that she would cry after this!!” Alex said.
Marco looked at her with a pale look as he wasn’t expecting that she was furious, he turned to see that Maria was also furious but for a different reason.
“I hate to admit but you’re our best option here just like how Alex sensei here said, but just for one thing, You know that I’ll hit you hard if you mess up?”
Maria said to him as he looked like he was about to enjoy this small fight. He replied later on.
“I know, although this creepy senpai here has ulterior motives, I can’t deny the fact that this now shows that the council hates our guts a little more than what I was expecting.”
Marco responded as everyone stepped aside to let the team of Maria, Rachel and Ralph who stood against Elise, some space.
The teachers were worried as the newly awakened felt it, a vibration that a holder releases when they tend to start a fight or even release their serment, therefore this time it was one sided as Elise tried to intimidate them with a bloodlust. Marco looked aside at Cedric for that brief second.
“You know, she’s still just a kid so make sure not to hurt her later. At best, I’d say that she can top up an E class holder if she would,”
Cedric said as he gave his analysis to Alex and Marco at the same time. Marco looked down to the ground then sighed at the analysis he heard,
“Say, can I ask why she permanently joined the council’s ranks?”.
Marco mumbled the question to himself although Alex heard it, she felt the cheer curiosity of Marco since he had already searched about the orphanage before, therefore he ignored the reason behind the disappearance of many new members later on as time passed.
“I can’t say anything about that, it’s their personal choice. For now just try to be easy on her”.
Alex replied, mumbling the words as Marco heard it clear too, he rubbed the back of his hair as his thoughts were all over the area. It was a pain in the ass for him to deal with it.
Elise on the other side, was ready to go and she was already toying down with the other three that went to fight her first. It surprised Marco how flexible she was with only her serment, this current battle demonstrated that Elise was indeed a capable fighter despite being a navigator,
“Seems like I really need to hold back so that my punches won’t hurt you kids, I’m kinda bullying you here”,
Elise said, shouting as she knocked down Ralph with a swift kick before using him as a shield for Maria’s attack. The teachers were surprised as even after that Ralph stood like nothing happened and tried to inflict more damage to Elise who indeed triumphed over them more at the moment she released an extension to her serment.
“I praise you for making me use this, kids!! Your teamwork is great but not enough yet”.
Elise stated, throwing the sword at Rachel’s direction whereas Maria came in to guard for Rachel. Subsequently, Elise dashed towards them as she tanked down Ralph in a strength contest, blowing him at Maria to smack her onto the ground. Rachel took a damage too because she tried to stop the two from falling down which pinned her to the ground too.
“Hai !! All done with you three yet the one that sought to be at the center of the battle hasn’t arrived yet”.
Elise said, smiling enthusiastically as she was standing next to the pile of the three she took down with ease. Her words were targeting Marco as she looked at him yet she didn’t even notice that he was readying himself to go after her.
In that chilling moment of defeat, even Maria and Ralph were not down yet as they growled in resentment, trying to hit her back but to their surprise Marco was the one that stopped their attacks with his black sword.
“Alright, it’s time up for you three here, so go take it easy and drink some healing potions” Marco said as he threw them all at Alex.
The three fell down onto the ground as Alex took a step to the side away from them.
“Goddamn it Marco!! you dipshit!! that hurts!!”.
The three all said one after another as Alex didn’t even try to catch them although Marco used his chains to make them land safely but not softly.
“Hai hai say what you want”.
Marco replied, lifting up his sword from the ground after he put it down to throw the three. Elise on the other hand was quietly watching him. From another perspective, she was studying him as in general terms Marco’s current class is E class, whereas he hadn’t received any missions or promotions from the council or his guild master yet, it picked her interest to why Alex called for him and not someone else knowing that Alice or even Emilis would prove an insane push to their status.
Lingering on that thought made her lose sense of what was around for a split second as she saw that Marco had already put some space between them. For that single moment, the bloodlust she had released amounted to reaching the teachers but had no effect on the five from the old generation. It was just a busted bluff and the signal to start the second round of the battle.
