46th chapter : Fullblack.

As the things took a certain bad turn with no further explanation for the red mermaid members, all of them headed to the dungeon so they could train to their fullest. Most likely it was up to them and how they would act in the middle of this mess.

Somewhere in the western part of the Toss realm, a week ago,

“Hmm, are you sure? Vanica sama?”.

A girl at the age of 25 years old, has a bit of a reddish color in her long hair with a ponytail, named Minerva said as she was talking to Vanica. Vanica is Carla’s mother who had been thrown to the Toss realm ten years ago.

“Of course, I’m sure of it! I don’t know how it happened but my daughter has come to this place!!” Vanica had a joyful smile while looking outside the window. Soon that joyful smile turned into a devilish one, “I guess it’s time to truly finish my research, after ten years I got a pure fresh sample!! Good job Xander!!”,

Vanica spoke to her lackeys as she was drinking some coffee, after addressing her second follower, the blonde guy Xander, he responded with a confused look for a few seconds,

“Uhm, Vanica sama!? I’m pretty sure that I was in charge of a different matter, I didn’t make her arrive here and more or less you told us not to get close if Emilis Vengeance was there”.

Xander’s answer made Vanica surprised as she felt like fate was on her side.

“I guess I’ll leave the things for you Nora, please check the things around her and bring her to me!!” Vanica turned, looking at a man with a black hair and a little beard on his chin and dark circles around his eyes.

Nora looked to her eyes then bowed, answering her order with ease,

“I’ll make sure that the lady reaches your highness with no worries!” Nora replied with a stiff look on him although Vanica spoke nothing about it.

After talking about it a little bit, Nora and Minerva decided to look at what happened without the help of Xander since his noisy personality would ruin the mission. More or less, the other reason was because Xander had contacted Carla more than a few times in the human realm while no one was watching during the week when Emilis wasn’t around.

“Are you sure that Vanica sama wasn’t just hallucinating?” Nora said as they were walking together to Alba’s restaurant.

“Don’t say that Nora!! Plus Vanica sama is the one that saved us from this hell so we can’t belittle her thoughts!! We need to always do what she wants!!” Minerva responded with a straight look on her the whole walk.

That response made Nora heave a heavy sigh out of his lungs.

“Sigh, you sure are loyal. Well I don’t think that I would belittle her thoughts too, she’s the one and only whom I would serve, so just walk and don’t pinch me like you always do when you’re mad at me please!”,

Nora responded as the two stopped a little far from where the restaurant was. They were surprised to see Marco taking down the bandits group with ease. His strength shocked them a little but they were sure that a battle with him would lead to their win.

Seeing the whole red mermaid members around Carla, Nora and Minerva decided to report back with Emilis’ presence there too. They went back with ease in their hearts so they wouldn't pick up any suspiciousness towards them.

“So the whole guild came here, did he bribe the council to let him come here?” Vanica was talking to herself.

“There’s a different matter of the boy that was chasing Xander the last day of his contact with the lady too, he’s strong” Minerva said as she mentioned Marco in the middle of the talk.

“How strong Is he?” Vanica asked, trying to identify the things.

“Mostly from what I heard his name is Marco Deca, a guy that Alba claims him as his disciple, I wasn’t able to determine his full strength but I don’t think that he’s more powerful than the current Alice Rayleigh” Nora responded instead.

“Then he won’t be a problem, besides Alice and Emilis, no one there is a threat, since Alba Leonard can’t fight against us!! Now things are how we can proceed with Emilis in the game, that is at least the biggest problem now!! Xander! After a few days contact the bandits group and negotiate with them for a work” Vanica was all smiling at how the situation is coming to her side.

“I wasn’t going to talk about this but Vanica sama, there’s also another child at the age seven around the red mermaid members, she’s a rare case I guess” Nora spoke before she would dismiss them.

“a rare case?” Vanica was caught in that word.

“Ah sorry I almost forgot about it!! Yeah, Vanica sama!! She had some bunny ears popping from her head!” Minerva responded.

Vanica didn’t want to believe them as she thought they were fake but at some point Minerva said that they were moving like it was part of her body.

“And I guess she’s the little sister of that newcomer” Xander said,

“I don’t care who’s little sister is, bring that high grade sample for me along with my girl. These are the only orders, and even if you gotta kill that newcomer, I’m ok with it. Emilis is gonna pay for what he did to me!!” Vanica responded then went on her way closing the door behind.

“Seems like we are gonna get rampaging soon enough!!” Xander said with a grin on his face.

“Don’t even think about it! This mission is led by me so you gotta listen to what I say!!” Nora stopped Xander from going out.

“I get it man!! don’t sweat the small stuff anyway, what about Larg outside? he said he didn’t want to hear about it as he only receives orders” Xander responded after taking off Nora’s hand from his shoulder.

“He’ll do what I tell him after I get my own thoughts together, for now there’s a guy that would believe that he’ll do the commotion for us. You think of a way to sneak and talk to her!” Nora added.

Nora responded then went on his way as both Minerva and Xander looked at each other with a look of disgust.

After mostly getting on a good proper plan with noticing that Emilis’ presence was faint and going in and out with ease, Nora and the others decided to use what they can to talk to Carla. They ended up using both the group of bandits and Guner who happened to hold a grudge on Alba for beating his ass the moment he came to the toss realm. In order to test Marco’s current strength and look at how he would fight, Minerva was watching from far as to notify him, while Guner was fighting Marco, Nora proceeded to talk to Carla who happened to be alone with Sophie that night.

Eventually, as everything went with their plan in a perfect way, Carla who had also been shocked to hear her mother’s name during the dungeon’s training, decided to contact her own mother the night that she believed that would be her last night with red mermaid members as she also gave a lot of information about the current state of red mermaid.

Without Emilis that night and Marco was the only one who can truly fight, along with Arthur’s sudden awakening of Karma to produce cursed euro energy, Nora determined that Sophie was also a rare item but Carla being with her made him also decide that they would bring Sophie with Carla’s knowledge. In addition to that, Carla’s retreat from the red mermaid was the last thing she did on her own, for a purpose.

“Welcome back!! my little sweet Carla!!”.

Vanica said as she went to hug Carla but for some reason Carla wasn’t that happy and dodged her mother’s hug by taking some steps aside.

Carla looked like she was disgusted more than feeling the heartwarming reunion.

“Don’t play tricks on me, mother” Having the same expression as Marco, Carla couldn’t bear to talk to her own mother, even in that moment.

“Well, that’s unfortunate, I tried anyway. Nora, you brought the little thing?” Vanica made a calm expression too as she ordered Nora to come out.

Nora arrived as he was holding Sophie in his arms. She was knocked out with no response that she was conscious. The second that Carla saw Sophie, she instantly punched Nora on the face, blowing him away and taking Sophie from his arms with that one punch.

After taking Sophie in her arms, Carla was filled with bloodlust towards her mother.

“You call her a thing again and I’ll make sure to end your life with my hands!” declared Carla in the spur of the moment.

The scene was too cold as the second that Vanica smiled at Carla, Xander came from behind and knocked her out with ease.

“Sigh… Minerva! take her to the other room and let the small thing with her, at least she would know how to calm her” Vanica said as she looked at Nora wiping the blood from his nose.

Vanica grinned as she realized that her daughter had arrived at a far stronger level than what she was expecting.

“Now that she arrived, I guess this will return to me” Vanica spoke as she took the mask from Carla’s pocket.

Seeing how Carla reacted, Minerva felt like she gained a stubborn little sister. She smiled while taking her to the other room, treating the hit that Xander gave her. Mostly because she felt like she was the only woman around besides Vanica her heart leaned to Carla’s situation and kept her close until she woke up.

“Oh!! Carla chan you woke up!!” Minerva said with a smile unlike Carla who looked pale.

“Where am I?... More importantly!! Where is Sophie?!?!”.

Carla was quick to get worried about Sophie as she looked like she was about to rush outside.

“Don’t worry, she’s trying to get out on her own but she can’t from the window!” Minerva pointed at Sophie who was trying to get out from the window that had barricades on it. “Carla neechan!! you woke up!! Please help me!!” Sophie finally noticed that Carla woke up as she rushed to her lap after running away from Minerva.

“Ahahaha! don’t worry I don’t bite, plus I’m glad to have another girl here too!! mind if I can call you princess!?” Minerva smiled at Carla who got flustered after hearing.

“I!! I don’t really think that would be suitable, Carla is ok! and I won’t go anyway so you can go out” Carla responded coldly.

Minerva on the other hand, felt like she was rejected at first glance. She responded after that,

“Don’t say that please!! Vanica sama often talks to me so I feel lonely since I’m the only girl around!! she helped us a lot to walk through these places so I can’t repay her debt enough” Minerva smiled at both Sophie and Carla.

The two felt a bit of a problem with Minerva’s words somehow but couldn’t tell what it was. Alas, they just let it go.

After hearing her words Carla sighed and told her that she needs time on her own, Sophie didn’t want to understand what she meant and kept trying to find some way out of that room but Carla told her to take a seat next to her.

“Is there something wrong? Carla nee?” Sophie asked her with a worried look.

“Ah! Everyone is gone and we are the only ones left!! I don’t wanna lose you too!! So please stay with me here!!” Carla responded with a sad look on her as she was about to cry therefore Sophie stood on the bed and tried to pat Carla’s head as she responded,

“Marco nii is surely coming to help us so don’t cry!! Marco nii is strong and he will kick their asses like they did to me!!”.

Sophie’s response was showing the true nature of her heart as it was heartwarming and calm. At that moment, Carla tried to deny that fact but for some reason the words that Sophie spoke made her feel relieved and more calm than what she was.

Carla knew it by then, help is definitely coming no matter how much time it takes.

As the night passed to let the day come after, Carla tried to sleep next to Sophie but she was more worried about the situation. By hook or by crook, she tried to look outside but the second she thought about it Xander and Larg came blocking her way.

“Why are you standing in my face?” she asked with a cold look.

“I’m sure that Vanica sama told us not to let you go and not letting you do whatever you want” Larg responded.

“So go back to your room or else I’ll chop off one of your arms!” Xander said after him as the two smirked back at her.

Carla looked at them then sighed.

“Even if you try anything funny on me I don’t think I’ll stay calm, and plus you’re talking to Carla Fullblack, where are the honorifics filthy pigs?” somehow Carla made them kneel to her as she gazed straight into their eyes.

The second that she did that, Xander felt angry and was about to hit her but Carla who kept composed knew that Nora would blow him away instead.

“I’m under your orders Carla Sama, so please don’t try to cause any commotions here” Nora bowed to her and made Larg do too as Xander was feeling angry but had no option but to do the same.

“That’s good, where’s mother? I’ll start working from now on so tell her to hurry up and finish what she wants to do.” Carla walked past the two of them as if she wasn’t giving them any attention.

Seeing what Carla just did, Minerva gulped her breaths while giving Sophie something to eat.

“You’re big sister Carla is truly terrifying!! Scary!!” Minerva said to Sophie who had a smug face from what she saw.

Unlike them Sophie wasn’t terrified by Carla’s doing and felt happy to see her in a form that matches her big brothers’ actions.

“Minerva san! Can you show me the way!!” Carla smiled at her.

Minerva felt happy more than anything else as she looked like she gained a kind hearted sister on her side. She had a smug face looking at the bowing Nora and others while walking past them to Carla who was waiting.

After finishing her food and Carla going away, Sophie couldn’t bring herself to not act the same as she said,

“Oy!! you pics!! Bring me dessert!!” Sophie felt confident with a smug smiling face even if she got the word wrong.

“You little!!”.

Xander was in a bad mood as he was about to hit her but stopped because Nora spoke to him,

“Do I need to make you remember that if you hit her, it means that Vanica sama herself will kill you. Just go and bring her some fruits or sweets”.

Not really knowing what to do but to get more angry, Xander went on his way to get some fruits from the fridge down in the kitchen.

“I’ll be waiting!! you pic!!” she said with a smiling face pissing him off more.

“Don’t say that Sophie chan! That guy might kill you!” pleaded Larg.

Larg kneeled down to meet up with Sophie’s height, his face was covered with large goggles too but his soft smile at Sophie shone brighter which made Sophie smile back at him and agreed to stop saying these sentences too.

He showed that he’s more good with children than the others, making even Nora surprised, dropping the cigarette he was about to light up. Nora commented on the scene as Sophie and Larg were high-fiving each other,

“You’re surprisingly good with kids, huh? That’s new” said Nora.

“Are you sure you wanna do this?”.

Minerva asked Carla who was taking a seat in the lab preparing for the experiment. Since she was familiar with her mother’s work from ten years ago, most likely Carla knew that her mother was using blood as the base material to what she needs.

“Ah!! Man that hurts!!” Carla responded as she picked the needle and took some of her blood, “I saw how mother was working ten years ago with the kids of the orphanage, mostly she also took samples from my senpais in red mermaid because they knew her. Also, since I didn’t really need any disturbance I left a letter for master telling him that I’m going back to the human realm, where mother is, as a lie. It would buy us some time until he figures that I’m lying. That hurts!!”.

Carla was talking while working as she finished the first sample extraction. Minerva was listening to her as she was helping with the process, with no words to add, she couldn’t really reply at what she was listening to. In that order, Minerva felt like Carla had been through a lot on her own.

“I guess that would be enough for her to continue researching?” Carla said as she was about to stand from the chair but a certain unknown thing caught her up, pinning her down to the chair.

“I don’t think that would be enough, since I’m the one who’s doing the research, it’s better to do it in flesh and blood don’t you think?” answered Vanica.

Vanica entered the room releasing her serment as it was completely back with the mask being half of it. She saw Carla struggling to get up from the chair with a worried look on her.

“I gave you my blood, what more than that do you need?!” Carla tried to protest.

Vanica on the other side kept a steady smile then said.

“As I said!! I’m the one who’s doing research ,right? then I would prefer to do it with you directly!!” as Vanica responded, Carla felt a more frightened look behind her mother’s smile than what she was thinking about.

While things went calm for the meantime around the area, the only thing that could be heard well was the screams of Carla who was being tortured. In that aspect, Sophie couldn’t keep it and tried to rush at her help however Nora knocked her down too.

The two girls’ experiments started, frightenedly so no one was able to arrive at that time.
