47th chapter : hymn of the weak .

After getting knocked down and mostly beaten up, the red mermaid members went back to the dungeon so they would get stronger faster than the current pace they were at. With the help of the origins of the euro creators the results would be devastating.

“Are you sure we can enter after what happened?” Alice said as the four of them were at the backdoor of the dungeon.

“Of course you can!! Now get inside since Marco is here and so is Arthur too!!” Selicia responded as she opened the door for them.

The four of them felt like she wasn’t bluffing, and so they did follow her inside.

“Uhm, just a question!! how can you guys make us strong while you don’t know how we… Use our serments!! Guahaaaaa!! What the hell!?!!”.

Xavier tried to ask the question as they were walking inside. As in the next second he was about to finish his question, a lower half body dropped off next to where they were walking.

“Ah, it’s Marco’s lower half!! Yuna, I told you not to cut them in half!!” Cedric responded as he looked like he was waiting for them.

The four looked at him normally talking before seeing Marco’s upper half body pinned inside the east side of the walls. The anxiety levels had risen way too high now but they couldn’t help it.

“What the heck happened to him!?”.

Alex asked, worried about what’s going on, as the second that Selicia was about to respond, Arthur was blown towards a wall next to them.

The scene was traumatizing for them as they saw him getting healed instantly when he cloaked himself with lightning again and went back into fighting.

“Don’t worry about these two, it’s the only way that Yuna found it logical to make them stronger. There’s one last thing she wants them to learn before letting them go” Cedric smiled at them

“For now, your training partners will be us, me and Cedric san here, you’ll be taught more than them anyway, In a different way too!! So have fun!!” stated Selicia with a brimming smile.

After seeing how frightening the training could be, the four of them took some steps to the back then looked at each other.

“It’s the only way to take back Carla!!” Marco yelled as he noticed them being a little bit shocked, “We don’t need to be as strong as master right now!! but this is the only thing that we need to do for now!! So don’t back down!! I’ll be the pillar for this mission so train harder!!”.

Mid-fight Marco managed to say these words as he was trying hard to get a hit on Yuna alongside Arthur. Alice and the others felt like he’s feeling that he is responsible for Carla’s leaving.

“Teach us what you know please!!”.

The four said in unison as they bowed to them.

“I don’t know what else I can say, but things will go this way. For a week only, we will train all of you for a week, until then!! I’ll make sure to let you go for the search, no matter what the others say!!” Cedric showed a calm look on him as he spoke.

“Before starting. Marco! Yuna! please come here since you two are needed!!” Selicia said, waving her hand to them.

Marco and Yuna understood what she meant unlike the others. However that small thought the two had crumbled in front of what Selicia asked them to do. More than Yuna, Marco didn’t want to admit it was a skeptical way to step out of a certain condition.

“Uhm what do you want me to do again?” responded Marco to Selicia’s request.

“Simple, it’s not like you’re gonna die anyway, but for them unless we do this, it’ll be more like a month until they can release their serments again”,

Cedric responded as he explained after that why Marco needed to imbue the four of them with a lot of euro particles until Yuna can remodel the particles and match it with what the serment needs inside their bodies. He used the tetration witchcraft again.

“Fine I’ll do it but from now on, we won't go easy on anything”, Marco took a seat then unleashed everything he got for the four of them, it made them speechless at how much euro particles marco had inside him from the beginning.

A week later, Sunday 11th June 19xx, at the restaurant.

“Are you sure you don’t wanna cut off that hair of yours, it became bigger than Alice’s”, Xavier said as he was with Marco working in the restaurant.

“Huh, no need. Plus the week has been rough and this is a proof for what I achieved, I’d rather leave it” Marco responded as the five of them were working silently, waiting for Emilis’ return.

The shift was fast to end as they closed the restaurant after that.

“Anything new?”.

Arthur asked first as he was waiting for the answer more than anyone. Mostly because it was hard to be apart from their little sister, Marco and Arthur were the most furious ones among them. Emilis sighed as he responded,

“You know, I hate to bring it but I think she did me wrong, when she sent that mail, man I searched everywhere in the human realm but nothing was found”. Emilis said as he crushed their hopes in finding them.

Marco sighed then looked aside knowing that it’ll be easy for him as he is currently, to find them.

“I don’t think that Vanica is out of the Toss realm” Alba said “She’s one of the seven star lords in the Toss realm who manipulates the things around. The stars tried to take over this district because it has the most fresh resources for them but when I stepped in, a treaty was signed by them. I didn’t care much about it but if I had to fight then the treaty says that this place will be for them” Alba said as he was explaining a different matter.

After hearing Alba’s words Marco and Emilis sighed,

“ I don’t think that this thing is related to any of the seven star lords, I don’t give a shit about them or what Vanica will say but for now I guess I found where...”,

Before Marco Could finish his words, a sudden cry went through the whole place as a voice passed inside the head to all the holders in the district, it was Sophie’s voice crying for help.

“Where are you!! Marco nii!! Anyone!! Help me!! Fuwaaah!! Help me!!”.

The second that Marco and Arthur heard Sophie’s voice, Arthur let out some words.

“I’ll kill them all” He announced, leaving the room at once.

Therefore, being all pissed off and mad Marco stopped Arthur from going on his own then looked behind him. All members waited for the master’s orders, and so Emilis had spoken.

“You picked them while I couldn’t, Man this is going to take my position as the best sensory type holder!! Red mermaid!! fetch them off!!”.

Emilis said as he gave them the green light to go.

In that second both Marco and Arthur vanished from sight as the others followed after. With all the commotion and everything, Alba and Emilis had to talk about the situation for the neighbors and assure them that nothing would happen to them, so they could go back to their houses in the meantime.

“Are you sure that Marco went in that way?” Alice asked Alex as the four of them went after the two siblings.

“I’m sure of it, even without my serment I can still sense his presence around that side of the city. Dude!! They became hella fast!!” Alex responded as she stopped before the others “You guys head there first and I’ll provide backup!! From now on everyone is on his own so don’t make a lot of problems for yourself!!”

Alex released her serment as she stopped on top of some roof, taking a cover to provide backup while keeping her guards up.

After hearing Alex’s orders, the other three went at full speed too.

“I’ll take the western part!!” Alice announced as she was about to go faster but happened to stop so that she could dodge an attack from Nora who appeared before them, trying to knock her down.

“Seems like we can have a proper fight now!!” Minerva said as she arrived from behind along with Xander who started laughing as soon as arrived.

“Alex?” Zack said as he got an instant response.

“Yeah, they’re not much of a threat but for now each one of you needs to take on an opponent. Do you want me to decide for you?” Alex responded as she looked at her serment’s analysis.

Alice and Xavier sighed after hearing her,

“I’m not really fine with it but I guess that lady would try to kick my ass?” Xavier responded as he pointed at Minerva.

“Then I’ll take the one that tried to attack me, I want revenge!!” Alice said after him.

“Sigh, you two are truly one hell of holders, don’t overdo it!”.

Zack said as he took his leave with Xander so they can fight away from the others, the same as Alice who left with Nora.

Everyone’s leave gave a good time for Minerva to prepare herself, she was already prepared for a full battle against Xavier by now.

“Are you perhaps underestimating me?”.

she asked Xavier who was showing that he got bored even before the fight would start, not even bothering to let his serment out.

“Sorry for you but I picked you because we are the same type of holders” he responded.

Xavier looked at Minerva while she was talking to him, he noticed that she already released her serment although it wasn’t the same as him. Since her serment looked like a scarf floating in the middle of the air while being tied to her neck and shoulders. He yawned for a split second.

“You know, let’s just finish this so I can go,” Xavier said, releasing his serment.

Minerva felt a different vibe in the air as she realized that Xavier wasn’t bluffing about his boredom, the total guard that had suddenly appeared on Xavier’s range had a clear gap in face of her own range. Rather than stalling, she saw it again, the guard instantly disappearing from her senses, thus making Xavier look like he was bluffing again.

“With no range you’re weak you know!” she said before taking a deep breath and dashing with full speed at Xavier.

Minerva attacked him with a punch as Xavier thought it was a normal punch therefore a huge explosion got him from the front. Caught in the middle of the explosion, Minerva who was smiling because she thought that Xavier was done for, felt like something was holding her hand. Surprisingly a reply had come to her words from a second ago.

“Cough, cough!! The damn smoke, don’t get the wrong idea! His and her punches are quite good compared to mine but if we talk about durability” Xavier was talking as he didn’t let her go.

Minerva felt that dangerous feeling again. In that aspect, Xavier clenched his other fist and punched her to the guts blowing her away.

“My little miss, you’re facing a nightmare” he said after smacking her down onto the ground from the roof.

Caught in the commotion as they fell in the middle of the district, Minerva smiled at him as she said,

“Well at least we will have a good batt…!!!”.

Before she could finish her words, Minerva barely dodged some blue arrows from Xavier’s bow, she looked flustered for sure,

“Wait!! Stop!! Stop!! Stop you bastard!!! Who stops a girl in the middle of her speech!!” She growled angrily.

“Huh? I thought you finished talking. Plus we’re in the middle of a battle here, I don’t care if you’re a kid or a woman, a granny won’t do either, I won’t forgive anyone who touches the peace of my family.” Xavier replied.

Xavier held his bow straight as he was about to shoot but a sudden big explosion occurred behind Minerva. Alice and Nora appeared after that. Xavier didn’t waste his time and tried to shoot down Nora therefore the shot was deflected as Alice stopped by Xavier’s stand and sighed.

“I don’t need any support and don’t steal my foe, man!!”.

Alice said before leaping to where Nora is, so that they would continue their battle, Xavier sighed as he responded to her words,

“Sorry I thought you guys needed support, I’m still the suppor!!”.

Again before he could finish his words, Xavier dodged a kick from Minerva and leaped to the back. As she thought it was a good thing to do so she can take revenge on what he did for her, Minerva grinned at him with a smug face while trying to land a hit on him.

After seeing that Nora was out of range, Xavier heaved a sigh, focusing on Minerva who was also cautious too.

“Aren’t you going to attack!!” He provoked her as he saw her standing, waiting for a chance.

“Don’t worry I’m not going to stop, the next thing I move!! So have fun!!” she said before leaping to his side again.

She was about to land a high kick but Xavier dodged it by taking some steps to the back. The second that he stepped to the back, he guarded an explosion with his bare hand as it burnt most of his left arm.

“You sure are ok!?”.

She kept launching explosions at him as Xavier was only leaping from side to side, the second that he positioned himself he shot three blue arrows at her therefore the arrows exploded, decaying before landing on Minerva which made her laugh. Seeing how he was fighting pitifully, Minerva giggled a little then decided to give him a hint on her serment.

“Let me tell you how my serment works!! you see it’s already a battle of two archers, but my serment is already in the middle of the air you know! so it’s just me pointing at you then boom!!” she smiled at him as Xavier looked like he was doing fine till now.

The next second she stopped talking Xavier started laughing a little as he started walking calmly towards her.

Looking at him Minerva thought Xavier was getting crazy as she addressed him again,

“What’s the funny thing!! Tell me so that I can laugh with you!!”.

A typical response but, Xavier stopped as he raised his bow then sighed putting down again,

“That’s no use!” He only spoke that loudly before mumbling to himself after that.

Minerva got mad as she was about to dash at him therefore a seven arrows shot got her like an X mark on her body. Without knowing what happened to her she could only leap away to the back avoiding any further attacks.

“What did you do!?” she got flustered.

“oh, sorry I was talking nonsense. It’s a new bow so I didn’t get the chance to train on it more. So! This brings that!! I decided to try this witchcraft on you first, the seven cross-shot, you thought earlier that my arrows missed right. Then I’ll explain this for you then!!”.

he smiled as he took a seat in front of her, Minerva felt more angry as she pointed her arm at him as if she was charging but with no use, nothing came to her anymore as if she got cut off the euro reserves.

“Why is it closing!?” she asked in a rush as Xavier was smiling at her.

he frowned a little after that and looked aside, lighting up a cigarette.

“I don’t really like the taste of these so I’ll keep it quick, you won’t let any euro particles out for more than two hours so you could start by taking a rest now. my seven cross-shot blocks the euro particles from going out, in other words I seal away the euro pressure points in the body and so the serment closes itself! You lost even before you thought that you could start going serious, right!? man, that’s a relief for me!!”.

Xavier’s smile made her pissed off more than ever as she went and tried to land hits on him.

The second that Minerva went for a close range attack, Xavier took it easy and sealed back his serment just to fight her. He dodged the first attack, rising to his feet with ease.

“I won’t let you stop me here!! and I’ll figure something out for the sake of my lady !! Vanica sama doesn’t need any of you to interfere!!”.

Minerva was talking as she was swinging her arms non-stop, Xavier sighed then knocked her to the ground, he released his bow straight at her face.

“I don’t know what Vanica san is trying to do, but she was the one that tried to experiment on us so it’s over for her now” Xavier responded with a cold look.

“I said it’s not over!! I’ll be her servant and I’ll be her protector when she needs it!!” With a straight look on her Minerva, didn’t want to back down although the hit made her nose bleed, “If she lost!! then who would protect the freedom that she gave us!! Hicc!! if Vanica sama is done for!! Hicc!! then what I believed in will die too!!”.

Minerva couldn’t keep it to herself as she was crying, Xavier looked at her then let out a breath feeling troubled, he shrugged his shoulders down because of that as he responded,

“That’s why I hate dumb girls who act high and mighty, Alex! You heard that, any leads!?”.

Xavier spoke on the phone as he saw that Minerva fainted from the blood loss.

“I don’t know much but bring her to me, if she’s not that bad I guess healing her is much better in this situation” Alex notified him that the people will soon start looking at what’s going on, so he better be hurrying to where she was.

Xavier didn’t waste his time either, and disappeared from the sights holding Minerva on his back. It didn’t take him a lot of time to get to Alex’s location, putting down Minerva next to her.

“Where am I?”.

Minerva woke up a little later, after the treatment she got from Alex, she noticed the two sitting next to her while eating some snacks.

Alex looked at Xavier, telling him to speak as he clicked his tongue because of Alex’s words.

“You’re healed so take it easy” He said, trying to calm her down.

Minerva didn’t try to waste time and stood far away from him as if she was about to attack although he heard an explosion from behind.

Xavier and Alex saw it too as he asked,

“Aren’t you going to help your friends?”.

Minerva felt like he wasn’t in the mood for a fight either,

“They don’t need help!! And fight me!!” She responded with anger.

“Hey I just healed your ass!! Plus I’m too tired right now!!” he said as she sighed.

“Tired of what!? sitting like a puppy!!” Minerva responded mockingly as Alex chuckled over the answer.

“Xavier here isn’t really tired literally, but he means that we can’t fight people that are here by the hands of the council. It’s kinda bad for our heart I guess, you got trapped here because of the council right!? that’s why he was feeling…”.

Alex responded as she was trying to get over Minerva’s feelings, however Minerva interrupted her by answering.

“You stay quiet too, acting like an all knowing grandma, gross!!”

She had a disgusted look on her. Xavier laughed out loud at Alex who was too stunned to speak more than shocked at the sudden reply.

“Listen here you little!!” as she said in a rage, again Minerva interrupted her.

“In a way or another what you said is true, also because of Vanica sama, I’m still alive. She helped us and gave us hope. I’ve made up my mind!! Please, I’ll do anything to stop anyone from killing her!! I’ll do anything even if it means that I’ll become a slave again!!” Minerva crawled on the ground bowing to them as she was determined.

Xavier and Alex looked at her as they didn’t see any further response to what she just showed them of loyalty toward Vanica.

“Sighsss, that’s why I don’t stand dumb women. Take it easy cause I’m sure that no one would try to kill Vanica!” Xavier said as he looked aside.

Alex continued after him “In a way or another like you said, Vanica san is still one of the few that watched us when we were kids, so get a rest!! The red mermaid members may be some bunch of wicked holders but we are righteous, I guess!!” she smiled at the end.

Minerva was still bowing while hearing their words. At some point, she realized that there wasn’t any lie and some ray of hope would lay down on the person that she admires most to protect her from any danger.

After talking things through, they were about to go ahead to where Vanica was fighting however a second thought came up to Alex as to return and meet up with the others in the restaurant.

“Are you sure?”. Minerva asked as she was looking like she feared getting closer to that place.

“Yeah, sure. Since we aren’t fighting anymore I’m sure in a way or another Vanica san will end up going there. In conclusion, you guys will end up roaming around us more, I guess” Alex responded based on her hunch.

“I’m still hesitant to speak about it but I guess there’s no harm in letting them come, am I wrong mister, the one who got Alice to beat his ass!?” Xavier spoke, turning around first.

Alex and Minerva turned back too as Alex also sensed him.

“You got a point, mister, I hate dumb women!!” Nora smiled at him as he reunited with Minerva.

Alice soon arrived after him.

“You sure have a talent for speed but that won’t work with me!” She had a smug face.

“You beat him up and you still keep that smug face!” Xavier said, scowling at her.

“Don’t ruin my mood!! He said that if we arrived at this stage in such a short time, he decided to surrender. I'm not sure if he’s telling the truth or lying though” Alice responded, scolding Xavier back.

“At least your opponent stuck along with you, mine had run away!” Zack arrived later.

The four of the red mermaid looked at each then grinned awkwardly. All have felt it, the triumphing strength they always wanted is finally within reach.

“You mean that Xander ran away!?” Nora was stunned.

“Yeah, I guess,” Zack responded.

“Is that something bad?” Alex asked.

“It’s not that it’s bad but that guy didn’t really like us in the first place and I’m sure that he’ll do something!!”. Minerva answered as she looked worried.

“It’s not our problem now, let’s head back!!” Alice said as she went ahead first as Zack and the rest followed her.

“Wait please!! stop him or else, he’ll try to stab Vanica sama in the back!!”.

Minerva begged them for help as the four looked at her then let out an awkward smile.

“Let’s just head home, even if he tried that I don’t think one particular person will let them do it. So!!! Rest assured!!” Alex smiled as she held Minerva’s hands to make her walk ahead.

“We hate to admit it but if there’s a person that you guys should fear beside our master, that would be Marco” Zack pushed Nora to walk too.

“Yeah, yeah don’t say that he may be hearing the conversation now too, so as his senpais just shut it and walk!” Xavier spoke last as he went ahead first.

Minerva and Nora felt a little bit of relief, but for some reason they couldn’t hold back the tears of the calm smile they had in them.

Alex and the rest grinned awkwardly again at the weird scene that’s happening in front of them, right now.

Again, it played a core pillar in proving to them that they’re now at the start of being counted on, just like how they always dreamed.

The red mermaid became a striking force.
