20th chapter : guilds masters are quite tense .

After wandering on their day off to another city than the closest new city to their palm city. Marco and Carla found themselves hunting a symus in the middle of the day. And so that is told, the council also grabbed signals about it and sent a quest job to the Gray lions, in an attempt to finish the quest. The guild master himself went after the symus.

“Uhm, we don’t know anyone here. so it’s kinda good luck for us that this district is inhabited by people, though what brings a bunch of kids to this side of the city” Marco said as they were walking around.

“And what kind of kids who won’t explore this side of their place, are you dumb or something? ” Carla replied “Nah, forget I asked. anyway, it seems that he’s been keeping a bunch of people for a while by now, if these traces are real, this symus is at least a C rank” Carla continued speaking as they were scouting the area.

“You got a point, but compared to what we deal with around our city this place is much weaker” Marco clenched his fists preparing himself.

“Man and I thought it was a day off, such a waste to fight with these clothes” Carla responded with an upset look right before they reached the haunted building.

A few seconds later,

“Are you kids ok !?” Carla asked as she was shielding for them.

“What’s going on!! Please help!!” The kids were screaming for help.

“I’ll be coming right away!! so don’t move a single step ok!!”.

Carla replied with a smile on her face as she reached where the children were kept. The symus are large scaled lizards with long tails painted with colors at the end of their tails, as their heads have only one colored scale and strangely have the ability to produce sticky threads like spiders and keep their prey under control.

“Seems like even inside they can’t see it, I’ll attack from the left side, do the right…side, sigh” Carla said as she wasn’t paying attention.

She saw that Marco had already finished the symus with one strike with his black sword smacking it right to the floor on its head.

“You said something?” Marco said after finishing it looking like he didn’t hear her words at all.

“Never mind me. let’s just get these kids away from this place” she pouted at him.

“Sorry I got caught in the moment and wanted to pierce its head” Marco apologized as he cut the threads to get them free,

Carla was still pouting as she put down the two kids.

After rescuing them, Carla and Marco had to treat the kids and tell them if they remember where they do live. right before the two kids would answer Marco and Carla felt a strong pressure out of the building.

“Huh, it seems that the symus are already done for! man and I thought I would have some fun” Alexander said as he looked around to see that there were no casualties to the building and it was clean work.

Marco and Carla clearly heard Alexander’s words and looked outside to see him waving for them. After that, they got out and met with Alexander who was waiting for them.

“It seems that you two had finished the symus, am I wrong Carla chan?” Alexander asked as he smiled at them after taking the two kids to their houses.

Before delivering the two kids Alexander had given them a candy like potion to make them forget about what happened, Marco thought that it was clearly handy rather than using his curse at the moment.

“Well!! you didn’t answer me. Despite knowing me well, you’re not talking, is there something wrong?” Alexander asked again

“Sorry but who are you again?” Marco asked as he didn’t know who Alexander is

“And who you might be?” Alexander returned the question.

“He’s my partner! and there’s nothing wrong, just I was thinking about why are you here in such a place, master Alexander?” Carla responded as she was trying to cover for Marco.

“I was called by the council to send some other holders but I was getting bored so I came instead. So what brings you here?!” Alexander openly spoke with a smile on his face.

“We came to enjoy a small day off. I didn’t want those kids to get eaten by these monsters” Marco replied as he looked at the building.

“That’s true! sorry for interfering without calling master Alexander!” Carla smiled as she hugged Marco from his arm.

"hmmm, hmmhmhmmm!! Well you two are coming with me now!!” Alexander said all of a sudden.

“ehehe!! Excuse us but I don’t think that we would be a help for you, we are in a rush to buy some stuff for our little sister!!” Carla tried with every ounce of her strength to run away from Alexander’s decision.

An hour later,

“Remind me, why are we doing this? ” Marco asked.

Alexander forced them to do a cleaning job at the rooftop of the bar building.

“It was my job but since you broke the rules by not calling the council, this is the punishment I reached,” Alexander replied with a smug grin on his face.

“Aren’t you just using us because you got a lame job for today?!” Carla answered, murmuring.

“Did you say something?!” Alexander snapped out of it.

“Nothing!! I’ll be cleaning the other side, master Alexander, so please keep taking a rest!!!” Carla rushed away to finish her job while Marco sighed.

“Old man !! where are you….Who the hell are you!?” Alia shouted as she reached the rooftop.

“Alia chan!! I thought I told you to go and buy something for dinner” Alexander pleaded as he stood from his chair instantly.

“I returned quickly because I met up with Rayan, what the hell is this sneaky old man?!!” Alia slapped him right to the face.

Marco and Carla were looking at her as they saw something new for the first time for a while, it was pleasant or that’s what they thought.

“Sorry for troubling you, you are Carla Fullblack aren’t you?” Alia asked as she bowed, apologizing.

“No it’s not a big deal. and, it's been a while since we met each other, Alia san” Carla replied with an awkward grin.

“Don’t mind that, plus is he ok? You hit him hard” Marco said after Carla spoke with a calm look.

“Yeah, he’ll be ok!! Still you didn’t answer me, who are you?” Alia replied.

“Marco Deca. a new red mermaid member” Marco responded as he was still looking at Alexander.

“Oh! so you were the guy that Emilis said you appeared out of nowhere!! Nice to meet you!!” Alexander stood up “well, allow me to ask you this then, what type of beer you like!!?” Alexander asked with a smile on his face.

“Again with these questions! they’re kids!! and underage, old man!! they don’t drink!!” Alia instantly responded.

Alia yelled at Alexander but was shocked along with Carla as they heard Marco’s response.

“I think red wine is good, I hate it though. it’s easy to prepare but people say that it’s a high quality wine, I’d rather say it’s a fake royalty drink or something like that”.

Marco’s answer was technical and out of the line of work but Alexander found it interesting after Marco’s answer was heard Alexander laughed out loud then apologized to Marco and Carla as he let them go. And within that response, it was the right call to let the two of them go as Alexander told Alia why they were there, she apologized again though she also scolded them for not calling the council on that problem.

“That was unexpected but saved us from getting called on to the council, how do you know about beer and alcohol?” Carla asked as they were looking around at the mall.

Since it was almost noon the two of them decided to go for a walk at the mall and see what they could buy so they could return home.

“I worked once as a bartender in our city” Marco calmly replied as Carla looked at him.

“Guehee!! so you illegally drank booze!!?” she yelled at him.

“Of course not. It was that nightclub close to the other side of the beach, and it was the only place that had higher prices to those who work extra loads of time. What do you think? Should I buy them?” Marco explained then looked aside as they were looking at the optics store.

“Hai hai, I get your idea but I don’t really recall there was something like that there. also, here, have these, they look more good on you than the ones you bought” Carla was getting along.

“You should look more at what's inside our city. It's inside Shoko san’s house. That woman was the one who taught me these kinds of things. Thanks” Marco took the glasses from her hands and bought them immediately.

After buying what they wanted, Marco paid for everything and went ahead.

“Huh!! really, Shoko san!! That woman is really nice to be the owner of a nightclub. And she was such a nice woman that eats breakfast at our place” Carla was sobbing after what she heard.

“She was eating breakfast at red mermaid’s? I thought only holders or the one who can use serments come to our restaurant” Marco was surprised by this sudden fact.

“That’s not completely true but yes, also!! Shoko san is a holder too, she’s not the type to fight like us but she seems to have a few ties with master Emilis that’s why she lives at palm city too” Carla responded.

“Wow, I’m getting new infos for today. I thought we were the only ones including old man Eyezar who can use euro and know about the euro society” he responded coldly.

“Not exactly but yeah, there’s a few other people who can use serments, that shows the minority of our society is troublesome” Carla’s opinion was kinda sad but she smiled with embarrassment.

“Two tickets please….I don’t hate that idea. The minority shows how much we need to treasure what we have, also because of that, Arthur and Sophie might live their best lives until now!! I’m glad that I met you!! and the rest of the guild too!! ” Marco smiled serenely to let Carla calm down too as he sensed she was nervous for nothing.

Later that day,

“Sigh, he gave me that pure smile like a child or something and then went off first to get a good place on the bullet train. He's really heartless!!” Carla was all red because of Marco’s smile.

She kept talking about it with Hana for the rest of the day at their house after they reached home Hana found that interesting.

“Well, Marco tends to love doing this kind of stuff. I was able to tease him dozens of times, but he always ends up kicking me because he doesn’t understand the joke. Then gives me that damn smile when I pout. A pure work of evil If you ask for my opinion” Hana said as she was drinking hot chocolate.

“Doesn’t he know that my heart can’t resist that kind of sudden thing!! Also, one thing. Hana chan, how many jobs Marco did until now?” Carla asked.

“Huh, I guess a lot. He works whenever there’s a good amount of money, my parents told him that he’s good if he doesn’t work, they’ll pay for everything but he refused saying that would make Arthur think like a lazy person” Hana replied.

The two took a small time looking at each other then sighed.

“Honestly, I never knew the proper number for his jobs but I guess he really worked a lot,” Hana pleaded while finishing her drink.

At the same time, Marco went to buy some things for dinner since Hana decided to stay in.

“Oya, Marco kun!! It’s been a while since I saw you!! how’s life going for you!” Shoko said as she appeared out of nowhere trying to hug Marco but he avoided her.

“Shoko san, you know I hate when you come from the back to hug me” Marco responded with a sigh.

“Don’t be that gloomy, plus I see that you grew your hair more like a girl. Are you finally losing the last piece of your mind?” Shoko was trying to tease him.

“I just don’t have the time to cut it, I’m quite busy still I’m glad to know you are doing well” Marco responded with a grin to Shoko then was about to go on his way.

“I’m glad that you are doing well too, it’s almost a year since you stopped working at my place. wanna chat a little bit on the way back home?” Shoko asked him for a small favor and Marco didn’t turn her down as the two went back together as soon as they finished shopping.
