44th chapter : starting of evolution .

After entering the dungeon on a normal day of training, what happened to the red mermaid members just made the events more spicy at some point. With Emilis also joining the matters right after returning from the human realm and the ancestors of the Deca family making an appearance in front of the members, it was the start of a new turn.

“I, the one who guides, open the scripts and show me the path, as I command you thy my name Cedric Deca”.

Cedric spoke as he looked on a different level than any other holder that Emilis and Alex have met until now. Right after finishing his words, Cedric got warped in the range of circles of shining characters that shined the same light as Alex’s glasses.

The glasses disappeared after that to make a fold of circles around where they were sitting. Cedric looked at them with a smile.

“Surprised, well this is the real structure of the serments, these circles are called euro circles, for now at least any witchcrafts you guys use are scripted here inside these circles” Cedric said, shortly explaining.

“What do you mean by witchcrafts? I’ve heard Marco say this word before but I didn’t give it any attention” Alex asked. “Ah right, the techniques and spells you guys use with the serments, like body reinforcement and or to shoot flames for example are called witchcrafts, didn’t you mention this stuff to them Emilis kun!!” Cedric smirked at Emilis who looked aside.

“Naturally, all the serments are written with the words from the Deca family but for some reason Eyezar had changed that. Hmm, maybe out of hate?” Cedric was thinking loud on his own.

“Keep that out for now, I’ll change it back and give you something else that would make us in contact so please don’t tell Marco about this he would get mad!! it’s just a contract for you and me!!”

Cedric smiled again as he started doing what he wanted. Alex on the other side was joyful too while Emilis had a different expression, his face lingered between expressions of doubt and curiosity, alas nothing was too understandable for him.

Earlier on Alice and Zack’s side,

“Sigh, we entered third but didn’t think I would find the multi-roads a real challenge!!” Alice complained as the two of them were walking with their guards up for anything.

“Anything to speak about?” Zack tried to start a conversation.

“Huh, nothing in particular, but I’m happy that all of us could level up together like we used to do when we were kids!!” Alice smiled at him as she responded.

Zack was surprised to see her smile so casually.

“Then does it mean you’re happy that Xavier is also getting stronger?! Gehehe!!” he couldn’t help it but to tease her.

“I can’t say that I’m totally happy that the spiky head is also growing!!” she replied rashly.

Thus the mood became bad. She looked down for a moment while walking then spoke again trying to fix her fault,

“You know that it’s not like we don’t get along. Errm, it’s just that our interests don't match ok!!” She was acting like a tsundere.

for a second Zack looked at her as he was about to speak but she interjected, speaking her mind first.

“Aagh well!! Don’t tell him this, ok!! Despite him being noisy, lazy as hell and good for nothing. I still love him!! after all he saved… What’s with you ?!!” she was pissed off with a red blushing face at Zack who couldn’t hold it and chuckled in her face.

“Sorry!! sorry!! It’s just unusual for you to confess something like this to me, and I know ok!! all of us know at least, plus we are childhood friends and siblings from different mothers at most so keep an eye on him ok!!”.

Zack bowed by the end of his words.

Alice looked at him with a blushed face then was about to speak but she had to wait as a sudden giant monster pack appeared on their way.

It didn’t take them a lot of time to finish most of the monsters for Alice to take her turn in the teasing.

“So I’ll let you know!! you’re not the only one who can tease!! We know about your secret girlfriend!! Gehehehe!!”

She made a devilish laugh at the end.

On the other side, Zack flustered as he instantly finished off the monsters with one swing of his serment, Alice was shocked by the surge of force and kept silent until he started shaking her sideways

“Who told you!! Who told you that!?!”.

He kept asking for a whole minute while shaking her.

“It was Marco!!” She said in a rush to stay away from his wrath.

Although it was a lie Zack didn’t really think of it as a lie and believed what she said after.

“It was one day when he was doing groceries for the house when I was staying with them” she finished her words looking aside from the guilt since the ones who were doing the groceries at that time were Carla and Alice only.

“That damn Marco!! I’ll kill him next time!!”.

Zack horrifically mumbled as they were walking, Alice was apologizing to Marco in her own way as she was walking alongside Zack, feeling the pressure of his wrath.

After passing some roads in the dungeon, Yuna couldn’t find Selicia as eventually she ended up meeting with Alice and Zack.

“I guess this one hell of a monster we have here or an enemy from outside? Who are you?!” Alice asked.

Yuna didn’t want to answer as she thought it’s a good thing to test them a little before talking, she leaped in a split second right in the middle of them, it left a cold chill as she swayed her hand on Alice’s cheek before leaping away, dodging Zack’s slash.

Yuna took the same stance as Marco then smiled at them.

“That clearly doesn’t belong to you so don’t use it!!”.

Zack roared as he pushed Alice away from the trajectory of Yuna’s wind thrust. Seeing that the two were doing fine against her wind thrust, she smiled a relieved smile. Yuna had let her guard down standing normally before speaking up.

“Man you’re good!! no worries!! I’m not your enemy and not a monster either!! I’m Yuna!! Yuna Deca!! Marco’s ancestor!!” She smiled at them as they felt like they have heard her name before.

After hearing what she said Zack responded that he remembers Marco’s speaking about it at some point before which it gave her more confidence to speak with them calmly.

“That’s really awesome!! For someone as calm as you around him I didn’t think you would really remember what Marco says!!” Yuna praised Zack as she got closer, bearing no threat to them.

Since Alice didn’t show any hostility, Alice calmed down a little, looking that Yuna and Marco do actually look alike.

“So are you really related to Marco? His aunt?” Alice asked her as she was waiting for a logical answer.

“Huh?! his aunt! If Selicia was here she would say that she’s his own big sister, well I’m technically his eighth great grandmother but don’t sweat the little details and think of me as his big sister!! I always wanted to say this!!” Yuna was happy to reply.

Hearing her answer made Alice and Zack look at each other with more question marks on them.

“For now, since I didn’t catch up with Selicia, I guess it would be better to do what Cedric told me to do. Can you give me your serments?!” she smiled at them as the situation got weirder.

Alice jumped to the back and was about to release her serment again.

“I knew it!! You’re an enemy!!”.

“Ahahaha !! Chill, chill! Like the other two, I'm here to meet up with Arthur and Sophie!! Marco didn't want to land us his body so we could play with them. That’s why it’s our only chance!! I strayed from what I wanna do now, anyway. We decided that we need to make the red mermaid members strong as much as we can!! So give me your serments!!” Yuna replied as her smile picked a heavy sense for these two.

“Haa!! like I said I’m not giving you my serment!! Neither me nor Zack will do it!!” Alice said as Zack confirmed it with a nod.

Yuna kept smiling, then sent some punches to their heads, taking the serments with ease.

“Well what a persistent young girl you are!! Hhm” Yuna responded.

In that moment, Alice was startled to see a version of Marco and Arthur mixed up in Yuna as if both were sitting in her place instead.

“I, the one who destroys, open the scripts and show me the path, I command you thy my name Yuna Deca” and so the same thing happened with Yuna.

“What are you doing?!” Alice asked.

“Consider it a gift because you guys care too much about our three little grandchildren!! I can say that he considers you guys as family!! and he’s coming around so don’t try to kill him, Zack kun!!”.

Yuna pointed behind her as they saw that Marco and Carla were heading towards them.

As from Marco’s side he was spacing not noticing what was ahead of him, most likely thinking on his own.

Marco noticed that the dungeon was mostly always conquered and only had some guardians type monster, along with having a similar nature of euro particles to his own or Cedric’s or Yuna’s and Selicia’s too.

“Oh!! Alice senpai!!”.

Carla took his attention as they were looking forward to meeting anyone since the whole road was a silent walk for both of them.

“Ah you’re here Yuna nee” Marco said as they reached them.

“Hmm yeah, I couldn’t catch Selicia so I guess she’ll get the first meeting of Arthur. but I get to meet Sophie first!! my cute little grandchild!! I love you so much!!”.

Yuna couldn’t help but to stop before she would even start as she went to hug Sophie who also felt like she was way too happy enjoying the recent events.

“and even your bunny ears are cute!! I’m finally able to hug you!! Pat you all I want!! Not like a certain gloomy face who didn’t let me use his body for this beforehand!!” Yuna was glaring daggers at Marco who sighed because of her words.

After Yuna calmed down, Carla explained things from her side to Alice and Zack. They looked at Marco and Yuna along with Sophie.

“Yup totally look alike!!” Alice said as she smiled.

“I can’t deny such a fact anyway, what were you doing just now?” he responded to Alice then asked Yuna.

“Oh right! I was about to make them release their true serments!!”.

Yuna answered, making the three of Alice, Carla and Zack look confused.

“Huh?! What do you mean?!” Alice asked.

“To put it simply you guys! up until Now, you have been using half baked serments!! I dunno why or how but that man Eyezar messed up with them and changed the witchcrafts with Elfen scriptures instead of the original ones written by me!!” Yuna explained shortly as they looked more confused.

“If this is true then?” Marco said.

“Nah, yours is just a scrap of worthless metal so don’t think about it a lot” She interjected with a calm smile.

Yuna smiled, sweating a little after she got him pointing the black sword to her nose with the same smile.

She continued her work after that as Marco was surprised to see the euro circles roaming around her.

“You too help me! I’ll teach you how to do it since you can!” Yuna patted the land next to her telling him to take a seat.

Marco did take a seat then looked at the serments before Yuna would speak again.

“Carla chan too!! put your serment down here!! and for you Marco I bet you remember the time when you met that monster right! I guess it’s time to say these words again!!”.

Yuna was cheerful with her words indeed.

Upon hearing her words the three of them didn’t understand a thing as Yuna gave Sophie to Carla so she would continue working. Marco on the other side remembered what Yuna wanted him to remember then sighed. Unlike the others, Marco understood well what Yuna is about to do, he was rather anxious about this one and only time, knowing what weight this act will have on him and the red mermaid in general.

“I wouldn’t really accept to say them again but for now, it’s the only choice” Marco exhaled his breaths. “I, the one who seeks, open the scripts and show me the path, as I command you thy my name Marco Deca”.

The second he finished reciting the words, the euro circles that were created by Yuna got bigger and mostly the numbers of circles got higher too to create a pillar straight to the roof atop.

“For now I’ll take the lead and you just watch ok, command!” Yuna said happily to Marco. “Remove the elf scripts and put them aside. Command, rewrite the undone parts and make a copy of them. Commands, raise the durability of the witchcrafts, Commands, duplicate the euro receiver from one to two. Commands, change one of the euro receivers from one’s user’s into absorbing the euro from surroundings. Commands, reset the identification of the user and build a firewall around it. Commands, boost the witchcrafts and add the remodeled elfen scriptures as an energy backup to the user’s body reinforcements’ witchcrafts. Close recording and keep essential runes at the beginning of each witchcraft, close paths”.

Everyone was watching Yuna work on the scriptures of Zack’s serment with mouths wide open.

After seeing her only once, Marco was asked to do the same for Alice’s serment with her help. And so this brings that unlikely Marco did a good job trying to write the scripts for the first time, as both received back their serments Alice’s and Zack’s expressions were like two children who had been given candy to them.

“For the last one, sorry to keep you waiting, Carla chan!”.

Yuna smiled at her as she saw that Carla was longing for that to happen too. The serment was opened as both Marco and Yuna were about to work on the serment. Right before starting Yuna told Marco to stop as she looked at Carla asking her,

“Sorry to bother you with this but Carla chan, are you sure this is your own serment?” The question struck the mood down.

It was understandable but for some reason it made Carla feel heavy as she shivered a little before answering with a yes.

“Well, I’m sure that Eyezar had remodeled it, that’s 100% I’m sure, but the name of the contractor isn’t yours. At most I can’t reveal the name of the contractor while I’m in this situation and I can’t even change it, at some point you were given the right to control it for a…”,

As Yuna was talking she didn’t notice that Carla was holding her tears and trying to fake smile again then with no intention of keeping secrets, Marco interfered speaking instead of Yuna.

“This belongs to someone whom you recognize as your mother, Vanica Fullblack” and so he made the things go worse.

Not being able to forget the past, Carla had to look down with a sad smile as she responded,

“Yeah, errm sorry but can you stop it for a while and give it to me” Carla had enough of it for the meantime.

Trying to hold it in, in front of Sophie Carla had no choice but to do that, in that second Yuna returned the serment then turned to Marco punching him hard on the face as she blew him away. She calmly walked towards him as the others didn’t really have a choice other than only watch her do that.

“Apologize!!” Yuna coldly said as she crossed eyes with Marco.

“Like hell I need to apologize about something” he responded with the same cold look as Yuna then calmly went on his way.

Sophie felt like something was wrong and couldn’t help it. She surprised everyone as she talked like a grownup for a moment

“Alice nee!! I leave Carla neechan in your hands!! Marco niichan wait!!” she rushed after Marco as she was looking like she was familiar with the place more than anyone.

Yuna sighed then went back to them, taking a seat.

“I don’t really need to explain but I was with him all the time he was searching about you guys so I pretty much know everything, more or less, he didn’t have the right to do that so I won’t answer any of your questions for now. But, I’ll let you know this Carla chan, he didn’t mean it so please don’t hate him, he always had a slight tongue around people and he clearly doesn’t like to show any feelings around people whom he considered as family members. That’s why!! we decided that we would make you guys more powerful so he won’t feel obligated to hide secrets, I wasn’t expecting that your mother’s name would appear instead of yours here for real , neither did he!!”.

Yuna spoke on her own as the three of them were listening calmly. Carla looked at Yuna then wiped her tears as she smiled again.

“It’s ok!! I know he didn’t mean it but I guess if he was cursed by something so mischievous I guess my mother is my own curse too” Carla said as she was looking to the ground after holding her serment.

As it was a mask, Carla felt like putting it on for the meantime, it was the real reason for it to be a mask and a shield first and foremost. Yuna and the others looked at her then sighed a little as they saw her going where Sophie went.

“I don’t know much about what you’re going to ask me but there’s situations where serments are passed down or the holder can give authorization to his own child to use the serment, at least that’s what I created the serments for. Sigh, I’m really a failure as a mother” she spoke, mumbling the last words.

Yuna responded to a certain question she thought that Alice or Zack would ask and which they were about to do, alas she wasn’t expecting that they would hear her mumbling.

“What do you mean? you created the serments? I know you said you wrote the scripts and stuff but…” Zack got his attention on something else.

“oh right, I guess you guys don’t know but our family, the Deca family is the pillar of everything you see now, more or less, Selicia, the one that we are going to meet with later is the one that created the base ground for the witchcrafts of your serments. I made the serments and Cedric was the one that delivered the euro to this world. We are the ones who created this whole mess so again I don’t really get why I had to see this happen again” Yuna sighed after answering as she got up. “Well what happened!! Happened!! Now let’s get going!!”

She smiled at them and went to follow Carla on her way.

Upon seeing that smile Zack and Alice felt like Marco was more than an extraordinary holder for the moment, with much more about him to be discovered sooner or later.
