13th chapter : family .

Moments before Marco would blow Links away,

“Sigh, I told you to not let your guard down. What are you going to do now?” Yuna asked as Marco woke up in the palace.

It seems that Yuna had called for him within the second his arm got cut down.

“I dunno, but I’m willing to kill them all. so this is what Eyezar was talking about, a bunch of assholes targeting my house. And I thought he was bluffing” Marco replied then Selicia spoke after.

“We didn’t mean that, I was speaking about what will you do after you kill them all? Carla chan won’t stay with you at the house, worst cases, Arthur and Sophie would be taken away” her words were sincere.

“I’ll figure out something, I can even erase their memories of the recent thing, as long as I can save them. I’ll be the sacrifice”.

As he answered, Marco returned to his body regenerating his own left arm and blowing off Links.

Field was watching next to them as he whistled to the force of the hit. Carla looked at Marco and felt his bloodlust for the first time.

“Oh!! returning from the bank of the dead and not just that but growing back your arm too, are you a healer or something!?” Field asked.

Thus hearing him Marco ignored his words.

“Carla, you said anything would happen inside the dungeon, after we finish this. please don’t hate me” Marco calmly said as he made Carla drink a healing item to slowly remove the paralyzing effect.

“Are you mocking me!?!” a roar was heard across the place.

Links was furious as he was about to attack therefore Marco had lanced his black sword right at his head blowing it off. Everyone was shocked for a moment then instantly attacked him feeling a strong pressure of death eating them from the inside.

Marco saw them coming and headed straight at them, he stood in a rushed stance facing them then swung his left arm to the back and pulled some chains. It made them lose balance for a second giving Marco enough time to leap straight at the closest one of the caped men, he smacked him to the ground with a strong wind thrust. The attack was quite furious to the point where blood gashed off the corpse.

“Three left” Marco coldly said as he was wiping his cheek from blood.

Alex was the most shocked one since she never saw him fighting. On the main side, Marco didn’t waste time and finished off the rest of the caped men leaving only Field behind. Field acted cowardly and used Carla as a shield.

“What now!!!!! Are you going to make me stab her !!!Com’on!!!!”.

Field was yelling as he suddenly felt something weird around his wrist, Marco had already warped him with chains.

“Sneaky bastard!!” Field roared as he was being pulled away and smacked to the walls of the dungeon by Marco’s chains.

“Are you ok, Alex senpai?” Marco asked as he turned to Field’s side.

“Don’t kill him!!” a different response was heard for that question.

Alex screamed telling Marco to not finish him off therefore Marco didn’t listen to her words and slowly approached him. Field was laying on the ground as he had the same devil smile.

“Shitty murder! kehehehe!!! who thought that I’d die on the hand of my target” Field slowly spoke yet he couldn’t help but to chuckle.

Field kept the grin as he was looking at Marco who got closer and stepped on his stomach. The blood was rushing out as Marco was forcing it.

“Filthy creatures need to die”.

Marco talked coldly as he pointed the edge of the sword at Fields’ head. The pressure of the euro was rising up as Marco was still stepping on Field’s injuries.

“Don’t say that!” Field said “after all I’m not the only filthy one here”.

keeping the creepy smile while Marco had a dead look, Fields couldn’t help but only do that.

“Don’t!!!” Alex screamed but no use, Marco had finished him off with a wind thrust.

After finishing off the enemies, Marco erased the paralyzing effects of Alex and Carla immediately with his curse,

“you’ll move freely, I guess you won’t comment on what you saw. I’ll be waiting outside” he jumped to conclusions on his own and went ahead.

Before he could go Marco used his curse mode, erasing the corpses and the blood from the entire area, leaving Carla and Alex a little bit shocked. They couldn’t finish the job quickly and it took them a while to get out, Marco was waiting outside.

“You’ve finished. It’s almost sunset” he greeted them on the way out.

Marco tried to avoid the topic and so did Carla and Alex, their shock wasn’t on the level to make Marco put proper explanation.

“Marco?!” Carla said as she was the first one to speak.

“Do you hate me?” Marco interjected, asking that out of the blue.

“There’s no reason to hate you, but you could’ve spared their lives. That’s why, thank you, for protecting us!!” Alex said as she patted his shoulder.

Marco didn’t react at all as he replied “I see, that’s good I guess”.

Marco’s words were cold then Carla tried to speak up.

“What, there's no tears of regret!?” with a laugh at the end, she pleaded while tapping on his back.

“Sorry, but I’m merely dead from the inside so don’t expect any tears, I’ll get going” Marco replied and made it awkward for Carla who covered her face from shame.

Later that day,

“So you killed six men. I see, I see. Are you regretting anything?” Emilis asked after getting Alex’s report on the incident.

“There’s no regret, all I did was protect my teammates. In the first place, they’ve been scouting on us since the time we went to buy for Eyezar in Granddam. that guy Links was targeting Alice and Carla and even had them paralyzed” Marco answered.

“One more question, why didn’t you get paralyzed too?” Alex asked.

Everyone was looking at Marco who had no choice but to hide his curse, given that it may make things worse to explain for the meantime.

“Well, my serment. This black broken sword has another ability along with the chains, I can erase a certain amount of things like euro or effects of other serments” Marco’s response was pretty cliché but that’s all what Selicia gave him as she was with him the whole time.

“Your arm got cut, what about that!!!?” Carla suddenly asked as she suddenly remembered that.

Marco took a time then looked down “Sorry, but I don’t think that I can answer your question for the current time. master Emilis, I’ll accept any punishment you give me but I would request one thing. please don’t take my brother and sister away, they're the only ones left for me” Marco bowed, everyone looked at him as they felt a little awkward along with his sincere words.

Emilis instead sighed and got closer patting Marco’s shoulder.

“Is this the only thing you request?” Calmly saying Emilis looked at Marco’s eyes.

Marco’s eyes didn’t faze or show any feelings of fear, Emilis was amazed by the amount of determined cold look that Marco had on him.

“Then your punishment is!!!! Stay with us, and don’t even try to speak about it. We are a family after being a guild, so no one would complain about it!! we are hated and the fact that the council didn’t want to react about it in granddam means we are on the same way. you’ve protected them very well” Emilis joked about it as usual as he was getting all tense around Marco who didn’t faze.

“h-hai!!” Marco was startled by the sudden weird punishment since he wasn’t expecting everyone to believe him.

“Besides that, I’d rather leave someone else with you this time, and !!! We are preparing the houses and the restaurant for the festival!! so Alice as usual will stay around your house!! and you guys are going to take the rest of the week as vacation!! So have fun!!”

Emilis said as he made them go home as soon as possible, Alice had to tag along though she had to bring clothes from their house first. On the way home, even Selicia felt something off was on Emilis’ mind, like he was spacing at something else instead of focusing on his words.

“So they went home, is there anything else you want to add Alex?” Emilis said as soon as Marco left the place.

“Well, I was going to send it sooner or later. He has more to hide from us, I saw him with my own eyes, even his life signal was off, I’m sure he died with much blood loss and an arm got cut. At the end he was giving us his back so I couldn’t confirm very well but I’m sure that his arm had some black marks on it, even the way he fought was pretty much carless like he was having an open defense for everything”.

Alex continued to report what happened to Emilis because of Marco not telling them everything, just as Emilis suspected the case.

“heeh? I don’t mind that but he seems to have strong and infinite euro particles, to be able to regenerate a whole arm on top. Well for now, we have one other thing to take care of this night” Emilis was serious as they were discussing the reports.

“Sigh, if you’re going that way please tell the council about it. I don’t wanna have a headache over unnecessary reports” Alex pleaded while stretching her neck so she can finish the work she had on hand.

After finishing the long report discussion. Emilis took Zack and Xavier with him and went to the council.

“heeh? sigh, I never thought that we are going to move in the night and on top of that for hunting some weirdo shitheads” Xavier said as he was yawning.

The two of them were waiting for Emilis so he could get out of the council building.

“Well, if it wasn’t for them Marco would never kill a person. So let’s just follow what master Emilis say” Zack replied.

Emilis didn’t take much time as he got back earlier than expected.

“What are we going to do now?” Xavier asked.

“Of course haunting down what’s left from the nest” Emilis smiled as he said his words, both Zack and Xavier sighed looking at each other before they would get teleported with Emilis.

Midnight, Granddam west district,

“Sigh, man I don’t want to wait a lot!! and I don’t think they’ll return anyway, let’s get going already!!” One of the ten guys who were hiding in an abandoned house in the west district said as he was getting annoyed.

“Don’t rush things, Field and Links have known each other since they were kids, and the others are professional in their work, I don’t think!!!!”.

Another guy replied to his comrade but soon got shocked as he saw Emilis standing in front of them. As they tried to run away Zack closed the door on them with one swing of his serment.

“Well, well, I don’t think that any of you are willing to stay calm while I talk” Emilis said as he was wiping some dust from his jacket because of the impact of Zack’s attack.

“Bastard!!!” a caped man roared as he tried to attack.

“Stop!!” His teammate tried to stop him but with no use.

The roaring man was already shot down by an arrow from Xavier.

“Sigh, they're a bunch of assholes and they really do think this will help, don’t they?” he said as he entered from the roof.

“Anyway, what I was talking about!! oh right!! you guys had passed my territory and tried to kill my children. Well, I don’t care what you have with the council but I’m sure of one thing, there’s no mercy to the ones who tried to touch my family” Emilis cold words spread fear in their hearts, as all of them were about to attack Emilis smiled at them speaking again “that’s the spirit!” with a calm smile, Emilis waved his hand wiping them out with a single slash.

After a few moments, the council team arrived with another team from the Black heart guild. The euro pressure that Emilis let out made the guild master itself come to see what happened.

“Sigh, you never learn. Emilis Vengeance!!” the guild master said as he was discussing the things with the councilors.

“Don’t say that Recka, I’m sorry though I saved a lot of work for you, also It was their fault to trespass my own territory and touch my children” Emilis answered with a smile on his face.

“Sorry? that really made us freak out, next time try to calm things over!?!” the vice master said as he arrived after finishing his work.

There were two members besides the master and the vice master, Emilis looked at them then swiftly replied

“Don’t worry, Nate kun!! I mean I don’t wanna have problems too, that’s why I went to talk to the council first, also are they new members!?” Emilis responded as he pointed to Recka’s members behind him.

“Huh? you noticed, I don’t want to lose this time. since the festival decides the ranks of the guilds, also only the girl is the new one, Salazar is an old member that joined a year ago” Recka replied as he was looking aside.

“heeh!? So I’m not the only one to prepare things well for this festival. I have some new members too!!” Emilis let out a confident smile looking at the Black heart’s new member.

After finishing the work, Emilis went back to where Xavier and Zack were waiting for him. Since he didn’t want them to get caught in the process of the councilors reports he told them to wait away.

“So, did you find something interesting, master?” Xavier asked as he saw Emilis spacing out for a moment.

“Huh, oh not really but I guess this year’s festival will be a blast. that girl really looked like Marco” Emilis replied with a smile as they were walking.

Xavier and Zack looked at him wondering what he meant.

“She didn’t look alike that much, but her presence was the total opposite of Marco, it’s like she’s saying that I’m here” Emilis added at the end of his words.

Again, both of them wondered what he was speaking about.
