16th chapter : Night hunting .

Saturday 30th April 19xx,

“Uhm , can you explain again, what are we going to do?” Marco asked in the middle of a meeting.

Emilis asked them to come to the restaurant on their day off.

“What’s the part you didn’t get again? we are going to start doing daily night hunting, since master Emilis is going for a trip outside the country. So we're gonna start doing it from tomorrow once his barriers go down, and you call my teachings hard. you’re an idiot” Alex answered Marco’s question as she teased him a little.

“hai, I know that. Also I don’t mind go night-hunting but the problem is where I need to let my brother and sister stay the night, at? Hana would obviously disturb them a lot, and I can’t think of any other places” Marco said his intentions behind his question making everyone look at him with a sigh and shame.

After Marco’s question Emilis took a deep breath.

“Well!!” before he would even speak Alice interrupted him.

“Don’t even think of taking them with you” with a scary look on her face, Alice made Emilis shut it.

“Well, I don’t mind that either. in a way or another, Arthur must have known about the euro because of Sophie’s bunny ears which pop out of nowhere when she gets emotional. so let them go with master, I’d rather let them go for a trip” Marco accepted what Alice was trying to deny then everyone sighed.

“Then it’s ok! I’ll come early tomorrow and take them” Emilis replied as they were looking at him filled with a smug energy because Marco agreed with him.

“Are you a small kid?” Carla murmured at what Emilis was acting like.

She was upset at some point because she’ll be alone without Sophie at the house, Carla got used to having a little sister to live with.

Next day in the morning at 10am ,

“A trip!! a trip!! I wanna see the lights in the sky!!! I wanna see the sea!!!” Sophie was singing all alone happily while packing her bag with Carla.

On the other side Marco had a hard time making Arthur leave the house.

“It’s just a trip!! so go and have fun!! Master Emilis is really a fun guy, he’ll show you a lot of things!!” Marco was pulling him outside.

“I know but I don’t wanna go!! We don't even have passports!! and we are going with a man who clearly looks suspicious!!!” Arthur resisted.

While both were arguing, the red mermaid members were hearing every word.

“Even the small boy thinks you’re suspicious, you need to work more on how you look in front of people, master!! Hahahaha!!” Xavier said, completely forgetting himself in the laughter.

“A trip!!!” Sophie shouted as she was the first one to go outside the house “ oh , everyone is here !! ” she said, making a big cherished smile, greeting them.

As they returned the greeting, they kept calm until Arthur and Marco got outside.

“Sophie!! don’t be too pushy and ask master for anything you need. Be a good girl ok!!” Marco smiled while speaking with Sophie.

Arthur saw everyone as he looked at Marco who was smiling at Sophie and giving her some instructions for the trip.

“Marco nii, I know that you’re being happy with new friends, even your eyes shined like they were when we were kids, But I don’t wanna go with people whom I don’t know” Arthur said in front of everyone.

Marco took a deep breath then smiled at him with a scary smile replying “you are going”.

Marco’s words were cold and threatening to the point where everyone felt his bloodlust and shivered a little as if they felt like standing in front of their mothers.

“I’ll go, Sophie is going so do I, just I wanted you to introduce us properly” Arthur surprisingly didn’t fear his brother and replied calmly.

Marco was surprised too but from a different perspective unlike the others.

“Well, this our master, I’m currently working under his supervision at the restaurant with Carla, his name’s Emilis Vengeance. This the vice chef or vice master Alice but you already met her so let’s skip. Alex sensei said that she would kill you because you weren’t coming to school a lot lately, we’re gonna discuss that later. Xavier senpai and Zack senpai.” Marco introduced them as Arthur bowed to them.

“Thanks for always taking care of my brother though I know it’s a little bit different when it comes to his side” Arthur calmly said.

Everyone giggled at Arthur’s reaction, then right after Emilis left with Arthur and Sophie, Xavier turned to Marco along with Zack.

“What’s with just senpai!!? Did we do something wrong or what!!?” Xavier shook him as he was annoyed.

“Sorry but it was rushed. the thing is that I confirmed that Arthur does really know about the euro by now, he remembered that my eyes were totally black. sigh, I have to speak up with him sooner or I’ll get caught in an awkward moment” Marco said as he explained what he smiled for.

“Well, we’re gonna find a solution later, for now I need everyone to get ready for tonight…what are you doing?” Alice said but stopped as she saw them entering Marco’s house.

“Huh? we are going to take a rest, the day is still far too long and we’re gonna start moving as soon as Master’s aura disappears totally. so take it easy” Xavier answered her question as he turned around.

“he has a point, plus I was going to ask you to enter, even if this part of the city isn’t that populated, I don’t like staying outside a lot” Marco finished after him, Alice sighed and followed them inside the house.

After speaking a little bit and enjoying some cakes Carla made. Everyone went to their house to prepare, as Carla and Marco were already inside their own house.

“Did you finish already?” Marco asked Carla who took a long time in the bathtub.

“Almost done, it’s gonna be tiring as a mission since we don’t fight a lot, I don’t see any good strategy to fight alongside with you” Carla responded.

“That’s what you were thinking about. I see, well don’t mind that, as long as you don’t stop moving I can move freely, and it depends on what Alex sensei would ask us to do” Marco replied.

Carla immediately got out of the bathroom.

“Really!!! you’re speaking as if you already know the way I move within!!” Carla felt a little startled since she saw how Marco fought that day.

“Well, it’s not like I saw it but our fight is the only data I have on your style. we are going to go hunting so wear something more comfortable than these jeans” Marco pointed down to Carla who got all red hearing him.

“What about you!!?? what are you going to…wear….tsk, Damn it!!! you really don’t leave a way for me to tease you anymore!!” she yelled as she closed the door of the bathroom again.

After seconds she opened it.

“Here, you forgot to take these” Marco said as he was holding her sportswear.

“Airhead!!” she yelled as she took them.

Marco grinned a little then went outside first.

10pm around the city’s coasts,

“Well, I’ve put the cords that Master gave us, what to do next?” Marco asked as he was outside with Carla, planting items in their part of the district.

“Well, leave it like that. These will force the people to go to their houses and close everything, it’ll be like a fog from illusion, efficient right?” Alex replied while talking to them by phone.

She was staying around Marco’s house since it’s close to the forest where they’ll start hunting.

“There’s nothing till now, so I’m waiting. Did you find anything Zack?” Xavier asked as he was watching over from the top of Marco’s house.

“Nothing till now. I’ve already finished planting the cords, so I’m gonna take the middle part of the forest” Zack replied as he closed the phone.

“Heee, everyone really is enjoying this, and I’m here alone, sigh” Alice responded as she was on the western side of the city waiting for the monsters to pop out.

“Alice, don't try to release your second release, got it?” Alex replied to her with some warning.

“Wait there’s a second release?” Marco asked suddenly,

“huh?! don’t you know that there’s three releases?” Alex asked instead of replying.

“Sorry, my bad!! This is my fault!!” Carla yelled on the phone, as everyone sighed, Marco looked at Carla who bowed to him while explaining.

An hour later, everyone was in their positions.

“So once you get the second release you can be an A rank, I see” Marco replied to Carla’s explanation.

“Yeah, and chitchat’s time is over. I’m detecting a lot of signals, prepare yourselves!!” Alex said as she closed the communications.

“It started huh, man I’ve never thought that we live in the most dangerous city in the world” Marco said as he was stretching his arms and legs.

“Yeah, this is really hurtful!!” Carla replied as she instantly released her serment blocking an attack from a monster.

The monsters are wolf-like species, they run in packs. As soon as she blocked the attack, Carla sealed back her serment to make the monster lose balance and move straight as she ducked a little bit down then released back her serment, crushing the guts of the monster with ease.

The monster felt the hit and tried to attack back, therefore Carla had jumped up and within a second as she blew its head after releasing her serment again right on it.

As she was fighting, Marco was impressed though he didn’t let his guard down. As another monster tried to attack him Marco blew him up with a wind thrust on the face after dodging a slash from its claws,

He finished it off then instantly leapt to Carla’s side as she blocked an attack, while she was blocking it Marco came from behind and smacked it up with one punch from the left side. Carla looked at him as he took a deep breath.

“That was my prey!!” she yelled.

“yeah, I know sorry!!” Marco said as he avoided a slash from a different monster then smacked him with his elbow to the ground.

Carla on the other hand had guarded another attack then let the monster try to hit Marco for revenge on what he did. Marco instantly released his serment, slashing the monster two pieces. Doing that made Carla realize that he wasn’t fighting with his serment at all, she felt something wrong as the monsters were getting blown off.

“you…?” before she could finish off Marco pulled her up to the sky with the chains as he jumped too.

“What are you doing!!!?” she yelled as she was scared of the sudden pull.

Marco held her and landed on another place.

“Alice senpai, the mid monster is heading towards your territory” Marco said as he was speaking on the phone.

“Are you mocking me!?” Carla coldly said.

“sorry, It was on instinct, plus look there” Marco apologized.

He pointed down to where the monster was rampaging as Carla saw the destroyed part of the forest then sighed.

“We still have unfinished business so let’s go!” Marco said, trying to cheer her up.

“Don’t talk to me for the rest of the hunting!!!” Carla pouted and Marco sighed as they followed the mid monster.

He knew that this would happen and so he kept calm about it.
