Chapter 76 The new Blue

Chapter 76 The new Blue

We're about to leave towards the ninja's island. I've outfitted all my ships with several of the propeller sticks. They also work as extra rudders. The propulsion can be used to help steer the ship for tighter turns. Making it even easier to avoid attacks.

The generals of all the ships have been replaced besides for Lance and Shikki. Brick and Leaf are now commanding the black swords. Lance and Trice lead one black dagger, while Strong like bull leads the other. Fast like wind and Blue are leading the black shivs. Shikki and Kline are leading the black turtles. The troops who were originally on the ships have now switched with the troops in the fortress. Some who have volunteered also stay as crew members. Almost all the kobolds have volunteered.

While they're traveling to the next island, I'll make my four new generals who's names I've shorted to Fast, Swift, Strong and Tough specialty weapons. I also need to redesign Gear so I can use him while in dragon form.

Each of my new generals is fairly different. Fast is, well fast. Posing the highest movement speed out of all the lizard men. Once he levels up his new classes, he might be even faster than me. He avoided learning any of the ones I was teaching the other lizard men. Instead, opting for the dexterity based classes. Thief, bandit, pirate and scout. He didn't want to use his last class slot until I had a better dexterity class. The other dexterity classes I could teach didn't suit his fighting style.

Designing a weapon based on speed would go good with him. Perhaps two swords after teaching him ambidextrous. He could learn it himself but I doubt he wants to spend more time learning it. The swords are made with some carbon steel. Using this type of steel would make the blades sharper than normal. Both have a damage gem attached and have been enchanted and infused anti magic runes with flare and freeze magic. The swords are called Flame and Chill.

Swift isn't exactly swift, he's more of the village mage. He learned some defensive magics. White mage, time mage, warden, druid and blue mage. He couldn't learn elementalist or paladin… I tried teaching him paladin because I have no one else with that class. His weapon will be the cross-bo-staff all the other mages use. While I haven't seen any mages use them yet, besides for practice, they should be strong enough to kill.

Strong was the only one in the group who went full offense classes. Picking the pirate class for his fifth. Which is fairly smart. I had some of my troops request treant wood from the local treant and have used it to make some of the new weapons. While normally, a big sword would be too unwieldy, with the weight making it impractical. The weight of a giant wooden sword is far less than metal. I enchant and infuse anti magic runes with control nature magic.

I add metal rings to it, with sword edges, every few inches. The sword rings added are enchanted and  infused anti magic runes with debuff magic. Making it deadly to anyone sliced by it. The rings are spaced out though. It is almost more of a bludgeon weapon than a sword. Most of the weight will come from these pieces. The swords weight would normally be too much for most people to use. I expand the sword slightly to lock all the ring blades into place on the sword.

Finally, I add a mana canister to it that will allow the blade to move up and down a few inches while it's being held. Making it much more like auto cutting saw now than ever. I name the new weapon reciprocating sawsword.

Tough decided to let me decide his classes. He already had barbarian. I once again tried teaching him paladin to no avail. I tried teaching chemist, spellthief, beast rider and witchdoctor… None work, it seems it might be very difficult to teach race classes to other races. Besides humans who have the knack for picking up classes. We settle on full defensive classes. Guardian, knight, shaman and monk.

Tough doesn't use weapons. It is against his code to fight armed. I design a tower shield for him. It is big enough to block his entire body. Also blocking some people close to him. There is a mana cannon mounted underneath… Normally, anyone using a cannon would have to have it mounted to something to not get knocked back.

Shooting a mana cannon without it being mounted might even kill some people if done incorrectly. I take it outside and test it out. Firing it at a tree… The kickback is still too strong the mana cannon launches me backwards and it dislocates my arm… FUCK, THAT HURTS! I head to the medical bay to get my arm put back into place. The person inside right now is Methodis. He's the leader of the healer squad. He slings my arm back into place than asks an odd question.

“Hey, do you know if… Leaf is seeing anyone?”

“Well... I think we're together.”

“...I see...”

He looks defeated… I didn't know he had feelings for her. He's never made any indication of it before.

“She… She was in here a few hours ago and was flirting with me. I wasn't sure if she was making fun of me or not.”

“...Wait what!? Leaf is with the ships right now.”

“That can't be possible, she was just in here.”

“...Do you mean the girl with green hair or the women with black hair?”

“Black hair obviously.”

“Okay, so there are two people named Leaf. The green haired one I was talking about.”

… I knew this would happen. If someone starts to talk about Leaf I'll have to clarify from now on. That is why I call the elementalist named Leaf Green. I get fixed up and tell him she is an elementalist… The group that is constantly at war with his people. I leave after that, I restart making the mana cannon on the shield. The kickback was still too intense. I try to counterbalance it more towards the front. I dig the tower shield into the ground this time and fire it slightly upwards…

It works this way... It will be hard to use in combat without hurting yourself and will also be very hard to aim. At least how it is now. I attach two sticks on either side of the long cannon that is behind the shield. Digging the two sticks into the ground in front of me. Then firing… It knocks me down but doesn't dislocate my arm this time. The kickback being distributed through my body made it so I barely felt anything besides the kickback. Tough should be able to hold it without falling down.

I feel like if I continue to work on the cannon attachment, I could make the kickback less than now… I try a few more things. Finally cutting the back part off of the cannon to ventilate the cannons discharge, it removes the majority of the kickback. Tough is now my most well armed general… At the same time, having a single attack isn't very balanced. I remove the stabilizing sticks since they're no longer necessary. This new weapon might be the strongest I've ever made to be used in combat. I called it the rock-it-launcher. I might make myself one to use without the shield portion.

I make him a wooden gauntlet with some of the treant wood. It is enchanted with warding magic and has infused anti magic runes of shielding magic on it. Finally strengthening it with control nature cast on the wood itself. Making both his punches stronger and his arm less likely to be injured while attacking. It resembles Aegis, I don't give it any special name since it is so plain in comparison to the other weapons.

I make myself a new totem sword with the remaining treant wood. I have a new totem I can make now. I'm not sure which type of totem it will be. I gained it from spirit quest and haven't had the time to make it since then. I make it… It is an extremely weird sword… The sword almost splits in two, I read the effect. Dosing sword, can lead you towards water, metal, classes and jobs… That is… Fairly weird but fairly useful at the same time… I continue to hold onto it.

If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

Redesigning Gear to be wearable doesn't take that long. I exchange the straps that would go around my shoulders to hold him on with a much more stretchy and resistant to tearing set made from my spider silk. I design some new headgear, made of glass, I'm going to attempt to use it to increase the time we can spend underwater, it can also be used to capture air made with an air scroll. Finally, I make a few fishing nets out of spider silk. Bigger nets that can be dragged with the ship, they will take longer but I'll start making them now.

I take the cross-bo-staff and the weapons I just made for Tough through the portal to Greed's island. I removed it from one of my ships and left it there. Some of the lizard men are still on the island, around fifty are piloting the stolen pirate ship. The lizard chief who's name is Powerful like ocean. Nicknamed Powerful, he is beyond his years when it comes to fighting but he can easily lead a ship. I broke the mast of the ship off and removed the sails. I can use it as a decoy ship against the pirates. Luring them in thinking it could possibly be another pirate ship in trouble.

I explain the new weapons to both Swift and Tough. Swift understands it immediately and begins practicing. He is using it proficiently after a single use. I have to show Tough how the rock-it-launcher is used… Then have him use it. The backfire from the cannon burns someone standing behind him. While I quickly heal them, I realize that having Tough use the cannon might have been a mistake. He'll have to continue to practice and learn procedures before he can fire without risking allies. He has to make sure the cannons discharge won't hurt anyone.

I take the teleporter back to the main base and then take one to the ships. Giving both the generals there new weapons. I have the boats tie together for a night. Watching Strong swing the reciprocating sawsword easily makes me feel better… The sword could honestly be a little bigger with him still using it proficiently. We're near a reef right now. I want to do some underwater exploring to search for fish and other things inside the reef. Large boats might have been sunken here. I take a few of the lizard men with me underwater. This will also be a field test of the new helmets.

I head back through the portals to get Zergnar and Morpheus. Zergnar brought his rock shark, named Sharkdar with him. Blue also volunteers, saying that he can breath underwater. We all jump into the water. Using the propeller sticks, we easily reach the bottom of the ocean. I'm by far the fastest, with my special propeller stick, improved water affinity and Gear using his shields as paddles. Traveling through the reef we see some very amazing things. Jellyfish are lighting the entire reef up. I had seen them from the ships and we managed to avoid hitting the reef because of this. I have a few of the lizard men catch them with nets I prepared in advance.

We continue to collect them, I send the lizard men back to the surface after they've collected two or three each. They could prove to be useful later on. While I can see perfectly fine in the dark waters, my troops cannot. From Greed's memories, I knew that they were dangerous to touch and have warned everyone else. I collect some of the coral and a few of the rocks. As we venture further into the reef we notice a sunken boat… I motion to rise to the surface. Everyone heads up, I send all the lizard men back to the ships to deposit the jellyfish and collected items.

It is just me, Zergnar who is riding on his rock shark, Morpheus who has shape shifted into a rock shark and Blue. Still a strong fighting force. Blue can cast underwater since he can breath/speak. My other caster generals wouldn't be able to fight underwater because of this… Without the new helmets I designed anyways… I doubt there will be any monsters inside the ship. They wouldn't be big enough to be a threat if they were hidden inside anyways.

We enter, there are a few jellyfish monsters in the way. We avoid them or push them out of the way with weapons or Aegis. He clarifies that he doesn't like being underwater, he's been saying it since we've been here. I'll feed him a few gemstones afterwords to make it up to him. Nothing of any real value is found yet. We search the entire ships hull, forecastle, finally stopping outside the captains cabin. Treasure find starts going off. I tap Zergnar, once he faces me I give him a thumbs up. There is definitely treasure inside.

I open the door, inside is a pile of treasure! On top of the treasure, is a naked women… It is a siren…

“SHIT IT'S A SIREN!”

I call out… No one can hear me since we're under the water. SHIT! I feel something prodding my thoughts.

“You know you want me. We both know you want me. There is nothing you can do to resist.”

Sharp mind activated

The image of her breaks. The beautiful naked women that was standing before me changes. Her features rot away, she starts to turn more disgusting and grotesque as the image fades… OH MY GOD IT'S UGLY! She looks far more like a fish now. I turn around to check my grou- FUCK! Zergnar is swinging his halberd at me. I block with Aegis, the impact is enough to spin me in a circle in the water. I kick off him, I need to kill this siren before Zergnar kills one of us.

She opens her mouth wide. Wider than a person could, her face opening up, some skin stretching and ripping as she opens it. The water in front of her starts to ripple. Pushing me backwards… MY HELMET SHATTERS FROM THE VIBRATIONS OF HER SCREAM! Zergnar makes another attack at me, Blue pushes him out of the way with a sneak attack jet stream. Morpheus is attacking Sharkdar who is following the mental command of his master. FUCK I NEED TO BE FASTER!

I change into dragon form. Kicking off the wall I was just slammed against with all four hands. I spin around corkscrewing through the water… It isn't fast enough though! She's going to get another siren scream attack before I reach her! With a few seconds remaining I aim my head away from her and cast jet stream and wind wall out of my mouth, propelling me faster. I pray that Gear doesn't squander this chance!

Zergnar kicks off the wall towards me. I make it to the siren right as Zergnar kicks me in the stomach. Forcing all the air out of my system! I get a wind scroll in my mouth from my storage tooth and activate it, barely before I pass out. I guard myself against Zergnar's next attack. It doesn't come though. It looks like the clouds are lifting from his vision.

Blue mage skill learned Charm- Charm a dimwitted enemy for one minute

Blue mage skill Sirens scream- Scream loud enough to break glass and shatter ear drums if close enough

Blue mage skill upgraded Sirens scream--> Flash bomb- can now throw an attack out that is bright enough to blind and loud enough to deafen

Blue (water imp) has evolved into unique variant True male siren

Level increase to 35

I try to turn around but I can't… I'm pinned to where I am. Zergnar has fear in his eyes looking at me. He pulls his helmet off and puts it over my head, he points at the straps on my shoulders before making his way towards the entrance. I take off my Gear to turn around. He has impaled her with all of his shields. Holy life god that was close! She isn't even a raid boss, just a regular rare! The position we fought her in, plus only having male members of the group… This could have ended worse... If I didn't have sharp mind...

I pull Gear's shields out of the siren one by one. I start collecting all the gold and items, loading most into a chest that had spilled over. Loading it into Gear, I probably collect a lot of water also. I even take the siren's bloated disgusting corpse... I'm looking less forward to absorbing a piece of her than I did to absorbing a piece of the golem raid boss. I resurface where Zergnar is waiting. Blue is up there with him… WHAT THE DEATH GOD! He's a cute blue boy now.

“What the! Blue! Why are all my companions getting more attractive than me! It feels like I'm doomed to be the ugly one in this group!”
