It's the day of my tenth birthday. I head to school like normal, it's near the end of school year. The last week of it and within the last two weeks of boot camp. School and boot camp go by normally and I head home. I'm surprised to see everyone was setting up for a party. Someone must have remembered it was my birthday today.
I didn't get many gifts. Some books, a few other things but nothing too special. It's fine though, this is only a period of growth for people. It's not the gifts that are important. The party goes by normally and it's getting late. I already know that when I wake up tomorrow I'll have my heirloom sword. I'll have to wait to find out what that book was. So I head to sleep.
I'm floating, this is the ethereal body that I remember from when I died. Did someone kill me in my sleep? I start to panic until I see the God of Rebirth. He's smiling like normal. He speaks.
“You've been busy haven't you? To think you would make it to level twenty before your tenth birthday.”
He starts laughing.
“You are very entertaining to watch and so I have a proposal for you. The god of balance forced you to be born earlier than expected. Because of that, you didn't get to pick a secondary class. The class you picked would have leveled five times faster than any other class you'd level.”
I'm confused, surprised and furious at what he's saying. Really!? A god can just decide on a whim to punish me? The god of rebirth reading my mind once again speaks.
"No, he went behind the other gods backs. Hoping no one would notice. Instead, because you were so irregular it was easier to notice him interfering in your life. He's been punished and is not allowed to try and kill you until your twentieth birthday. We still have the problem of your secondary class now... We could do the boring thing and just give you a class. The greater god is against that, so he let the god of chaos design a class for you. A brand new class but their is a catch."
He pulls out the book that I've been wondering what exactly was written on it. It's a book that gives me stat points to spend equivalent to the my master of learning level. At level twenty it wouldn't be much. In my previous lives I managed to reach some stats in the thousands. Even though my stats are low right now they're all above one hundred. He shakes the book.
“Instead of this book the god of chaos has made a new class just for master of learning. The greater god approved it and you're going to be the dry run for this new class. I'll give it to you right now as well as the sword but you wont get this book on your fifteenth birthday.”
Well I mean like I said twenty stat points isn't a lot. Even though my stats are below average all around. Compared to a warriors mediocre intelligence stat. I'm very well rounded. Averaging my stats together, someone of a similar level would have less but all focused towards one stat. It's an easy answer for me, a special class! Obviously going to pick that.
“I'll take the class then.”
… I giant smile appears on his face.
“Please don't let me down, all the gods are watching you now. You're very entertaining to watch. You even proved the greater gods prediction wrong when you killed that bandit. Oh! What was his name aga- ah yes Olaf! Do you realize how often he's proved wrong!? Hahahaha.”
I still have some questions I'd like to ask that only a god could answer. This might be the only time I'll ever get the chance, so I ask.
"I just got a negative trait, is there anyway to get rid of it? It felt like I was using the teaching job skill before it unlocked, how was I able to? Is Gobber special in any way? He seems special."
He looks slightly disappointed in me... Maybe I asked boring questions. He answers the questions anyways.
"You can fight that trait but it will be hard. The god of chaos gave you some help so he's also not allowed to interfere with your life until you're twenty years old. Gobber is special... The reason why should become clear eventually."
He yawns and twirls the stat book in his hand. He burns the stat boost book. From the ashes he forms another book. He hands me the fingertip long sword and the book. I start to drift away from him. I fade back out and I can tell I'm going back to sleep.
Heirloom gained “Sword of Learning”
Heirloom gained “Book of Teaching”
Title Child removed
New title gained Adolescent- Increased stat growth
Title upgraded Adolescent--> Genius Youth- Retain a portion of the child title's abilities as well as increase adolescents effects
Class learned "Master of Teaching” passive skill revealed Efficient teaching- able to more easily teach and halves fatigue consumption from heavy lesson, passive increase students retention for everything taught
Level 1 passive skill Mold Breaker- Able to teach one extra class and job to humans or two extra classes or jobs to subhumans
Wow! Just like that everything changed. The class I unlocked seems extremely strong! Thank you god of chaos! Depending on the mold breaker skill. I might be able to sell my abilities as a teacher to royalty for an extremely high price… But it could also end up with me getting kidnapped by a country and forced to teach troops. Another thing that I have to keep a secret from everyone who isn't trustworthy…
The things I can get kidnapped for seem to be adding up. I keep becoming more and more valuable. Teaching my troops and the people who live at the fortress should be fine though. I just have to think of the best classes/jobs for everyone... Maybe I'll let them pick their own classes and jobs. It might lead to some breakthroughs and new classes/jobs being made.
“Everyone gather around, I have some news. I can teach you two more classes or jobs to each of you. I've already gone over all the classes with you. Pick the ones you want, if you want to learn a job. I'll go over a brief description of each, so you don't accidentally learn them. Decide what you want then I'll start teaching you the class or job you want.”
I'll have to give the speech again in common. I'll worry about getting the gnolls out of the way first. It takes all day for some to pick but eventually everyone has learned more classes and jobs. Some have even learned mage classes so I'm happy with the result. With two new classes for each person, everyone is now far more unique than being strictly thieves or plain beast riders.
Gobber picked warrior and guardian. He's already that strong with no offensive classes. So this will make him unstoppable. Gargarz learned black magic and time magic. Zergnar learned dragoon and berserker. Finally Nargzar learned blue mage and fighter. Each of my generals picked the best classes for themselves. Focusing on one path they've decided to take. Gobber was already well rounded but focusing on tank will only make him even harder to kill.
The next day I ended up teaching all the humans and the remaining gnolls in the fortress except Trice. Hilda learned scout. She always enjoyed being a guard and scout would help her see threats faster. She only had two jobs so she ended up learning construction. With that job, she could make improvements where they were necessary. I can see she's already thinking of ways to improve the fortress.
Kora didn't want a class but she ended up learning tinkerer from me. With how many things she's doing constantly. I bet it will help her improve just about every method of doing things. Ashley learned tailoring, once again she didn't want a class just like Kora though. Trice was different. She meekly asked.
“What classes could I best help Lance with? I'd like to join his party the next time he visits.”
“Well, I plan on teaching all of them as well. So it would be best to see what they go with and fill in a class they don't have.”
She understands and is waiting until then. Maybe I should teach the enchanters the synthesis job. Just to see what they can do with it... Maybe tinkerer would get better/less predictable improvements. I'll teach each one a different job and hope they both make improvements. I have only used synthesis for enchanting scrolls but I could probably synthesize gear down to make better sets for Gobber and myself… I wonder if you can synthesize 2 rares together and what would happen…
I pull out off two rings from my fingers. Time magic and nature magic boosting rings and try to synthesize them. It says the process will take 40 hours… It is possible but for that long. I'll have start doing it as soon as I wake up in the morning. Then stay up for two days straight to pull it off.
I spend the next few days synthesizing those rings together. They didn't have stats on them just the effects. That probably reduced the time. Finally after the forty hours a new ring is formed with the same effect as both rings but in one rare. Was that how the "duality of magic" wand was made? I try combining my two wands this time. It would take a few weeks. So no possible way to pull off.

I work on combining the rest of the rings. The heirloom sword I got is now around the size of a dagger. I think it would make sense to keep that on me. The heirloom book I got I'll leave in my residence at the fortress. I think I might encase it in concrete so no one could steal it. If someone does, I would lose my second class master of teaching. I tell everyone to never touch that book but also hide it and leave a fake version out just in case.
I start keeping the sword on me at all times though. Since it's an heirloom it should be unbreakable. But if anyone beats me in a fight I doubt they'd try to steal a tiny dagger like sword. It's the two week vacation now. It would be nice to head to a dungeon close by.
A low tier raid dungeon would be nice to increase the levels of troops. We'd need to split up into two groups though since you can only have around fifteen members in a raid dungeon before the monsters start scaling in difficulty. Consuming mana from the party to strengthen the monsters. I decide maybe later in the year and the normal group is put together with some extra gnolls to watch our equipment when we're gone.
Everyone had just gotten new classes so it would be better to wait to do the raid anyways. At least until they've leveled their classes up and learned how to use them.
We're heading towards a tier three dungeon. That's the same level as the displacer beast dungeon. Companions in tow are the three gnoll squad leaders, Gobber and his pets, me and my pets. We also brought Hilda this time. She wants to level her scout while we journey and it's nice to have an extra close range fighter.
I made a few spears of varying sizes for Zergnar so depending on what type of dungeon it is he'll be able to use the right sized spear. Having a five foot spear in some dungeons would be too cumbersome. It is a few days trip to get there.
After a few days of travel we make it to the dungeon. The guards we brought slowed our travel speed a little. We leave the guards behind to protect our things. Realizing that I could just take the portal home afterwords we could set up bases and tie them together with portals in the main fortress. That might be too risky though. If someone managed to take control of one base. They could potentially kill everyone at each base with a surprise attack from the portals.
Maybe if we only had it at two or three other locations it would work though. We head inside the dungeon. It's a fire based dungeon. It looks big enough to use the biggest spear but I tell him to bring the smallest one with him just in case. We start our first encounter. flame imps, about twelve of them. They're very easy to kill but if you let them all cast at your party. You can be easily wiped out. I can't do much before the melee in the group manages to kill all the imps. The one that was far enough back to avoid the slaughter I improved counter spelled so he couldn't launch a fireball.
We fight a lot of encounters like that. Fighting an overwhelming amount of imps that could easily wipe us out if we miss stepped and couldn't kill them in time. We also fight flaming dogs and greater imps which are imps the size of a goblin that casts much higher tiered fire magic and are harder to kill.
The dogs are the biggest problem, if anyone takes damage the fire might ruin their gear. We know this so everyone is far more cautious fighting the dogs. Hilda shield was lost but no one was hurt by the dogs. We're far to prepared for this dungeon because nothing is a threat at this point. The reason I picked this one is because there is a tier four dungeon close by… But the difference in difficulty is extreme so we'll only test it out. We push through the first two floors.
Master of learning 20 to 21
The fourth and fifth floors were only slightly harder then the first two. The third floor was a safe floor so we moved straight through it. We came across some traps but none that weren't completely obvious. After searching a bit we seen a rare trap. The only way to get the rare is to set off the trap. Which is a harder to deal with trap then normal. It could be anything. The room could fill with enemies or poison or the floor might give out… These ones are very dangerous because of that. It still might be worth risking if it's good enough.
It's a gauntlet, I've never seen a rare gauntlet before. What enchants does it have? It's a legendary! Five stats with some weird effects on it. First it was indestructible, second it had anti magic runes on it. (which is impossible to do for any non weapons) Meaning it could stop magic. Third it had a metal absorption effect. Any metal that you wanted could be added to make the gauntlet stronger. Finally it was cursed… Meaning it wasn't removable after put on.
Wow even with the negative that is a strong gauntlet that would sell for hundreds of gold. It has a zero percent chance to learn anything deconstructing it... Also it would be impossible to deconstruct since it's indestructible. I wonder if the curse could be removed?
We have to take this legendary. We prepare for whatever is to come and I take it off of the pedestal. The whole room shakes, is the floor going to cave in?
“Who dares steal my gauntlet!”
Someone outside with a booming voice is coming in. He's so big he can barely fit through the door, it's a giant. Shit giants are way to strong to be in a tier three dungeon, but he talked meaning I might be able to avoid combat.
“I wasn't stealing it I was only admiring it. It is a very strong and beautiful gauntlet.”
The giant smiles. “Ah you've noticed. I personally made that gauntlet.”
Trying to steer the conversation. “Yea it's just a shame its too small for you to wear. A masterpiece like this should be worn and used, not set aside collecting dust.”
Besides myself everyone else is trembling. Even though he's a giant I can tell he's special in some way. Pokodo has fainted from fear of him.
“Indeed, I haven't found a single person able to see it's value yet. Normally they just attack me as soon as I enter the room.” He gives a little laugh. "Then I crush their heads."
Wow! Now even I'm scared. I try to keep acting like I'm not though and speak again.
“Well, I'll place it back on the pedestal and we'll be on our way then.”
There would be no way we could beat a giant. Giants are tier one or two raid dungeon bosses. To think we'd stand a chance even using all of my trump cards. Most likely someone if not everyone would die.
“W-wait… are you sure you don't want it?”
I turn towards him acting surprised.
“What!? I'm not worthy to use such a gauntlet!”
… He picked it up with two fingers and delicately handed it to me. I continue the act... I'd like for the curse to be removed though. That would make it more valuable.
“Well if you insist... But there is one problem with it... Is there anyway to remove the curse from it?”
He started looking angry at me. Slaming the ground right next to me he screams.
“WHY WOULD YOU EVER WANT TO TAKE IT OFF?”
Almost pissing myself from fear I have to continue being resolute. Here comes the final push, I hope he believes the lie. Otherwise I'll end up smashed flat.
“Well, I wouldn't want it to get wet or dirty. Being able to clean it would be much harder if I was attached to it. If I do take it I want to take perfect care of it so it never gets smudged or dirty.”
He puts his hand under his chin. “I guess that makes sense.”
He picks it up and channels some type of magic into it. I can see a black aura dispels from it. He removed a effect from a legendary. I didn't even know that was possible... It didn't even look like he struggled to do it. Just how strong is this giant?
“Hmm what would you put on it if you had the chance?”
… I wasn't sure. I had to think for awhile.
“Well, it's already strong against magic and physical damage… I'm not sure what I would put on it. I leave the decision up to you since you're more experienced than myself.”
He closes his hands around the gauntlet. It appears he's pouring an incredible amount of mana into it. If he could dispel a curse so easily. I wonder what he's adding with that much effort.
“There, it is done.”
He handed me the gauntlet… The effect was unreadable… What did he add?
“What did you add? It's so powerful I can't even read it using detect.”
I ask but the giant only smiled and said.
“It's a secret. Now be on you're way. I'm a the demigod of armor. This is the first time anyone has ever approached here that my god. The god of creation, didn't give me an answer on how to treat that person... You must be special to have protection from influence against the gods... I need to go start gathering the materials to make an even stronger gauntlet!”
With that he left the room… HE WAS A DEMIGOD! The chances of finding one are so slim. You're more likely to get a relic. If we had fought him there would have been nothing we could have done to beat him… Luckily I have thief and paladin classes. The extra charisma from paladin and the capable liar skill from thief definitely just saved our lives.
Both helped me convince him not fight and to make changes to the gauntlet. That could have ended so much worse than it did... I'm now glad no one attacked him before I could talk... I need to get a handle on this negative trait. It almost got me killed but it was actually helpful this time around.
I'm still fearful for the effect he added. If he thought a curse was a good effect, the one he added might end up bad too. I'll wait until we're out of here and in a controlled environment to equip it.
We clear more enemies and make it to the bosses room. I start explaining potential bosses that we might fight. Last time we ended up fighting the displacer beast. If I didn't explain it fast enough someone would've been killed before we managed to get to safety. The potential bosses on a tier three dungeon aren't that much of a threat but still going over them wouldn't hurt.
We have the lesser flame beast. Similar to the displacer beast but instead of becoming intangible it can turn into pure flames shortly… That will be the most difficult one and the one I explained in full detail. With our luck we'll end up fighting it. We push the door open but thankfully it was just a fire ogre. Fire ogre's aren't that smart, can be easily tricked with simple tactics and aren't very hard fights. So this boss shouldn't be a problem...
