Roc's are giant eagles. It is a giant none the less, plus it can fly. Making our ground troops have a much harder time reaching it. This will be a difficult fight! As Zergnar gets closer I'll explain this boss.
“It's a Roc! Its a giant bird, make sure to avoid anything that would be dangerous on a regular bird, like the talons and beak! It might try to pick you up. If it does we'll make a water source where you will land because it will drop you from a killing height.”
As it gets closer and closer I see everyone getting ready. I see Lance pulling out a tiny spear… I wonder wha-. He throws it, so fast it causes the air to ripple around him. Flying extremely fast it pierces one of the wings of the roc. It is still flying, just far more unsteady now. I see Leaf starting for form a magic missile. It will be too small to do anything though. She yells out.
“Trice!”
Trice begins to spit poison onto it. I had some extra poison from when I gained it myself. So I let Trice have the extra. Trying to teach her different poison spit was too gross for her. So that was the only way she could gain them. After spitting the poison she coated it with her spider silk webbing as well… What are these two doing? The arrow begins to expand! It gets three times the size it just was. It flies intensely fast. Almost as fast as Lance's spear. Gobber had pulled out his giant crossbow and fired an arrow in unison with Leaf's attack.
The roc took both hits. Falling from the sky at such a high height it will be injured from the crash. BOOM! It lands with a painful noise. Dust kicking up, trees being toppled from the injury. Zergnar starts to dive bomb at the roc with his griffin. They flying almost faster than terminal velocity. Zergnar jumped off at the last minute skewering the roc with his spear. We all start to rush over towards it.
We head closer… It is beyond injured, struggling to get to its feet. The roc is taking in its last breaths of life. Finally Blue attacks, with a jet stream of water yelling out.
“Whoever is a black mage shock the water!”
The stream hit the roc, stunning it momentarily until the mages acted on Blue's request… Frying it instantly… Over killing it to the point it cooked the rocs meat…
Achievement gained Speed runner (raid)- Kill two raid bosses within thirty minutes of each other (speed run challenges unlocked, next achievement, kill two within twenty minutes)
Scout secret skill gained- Eagle eye- Increases range of vision when activated (great for viewing things closer from the sky)
We'll eat that first before the basilisk I guess. I would have really liked to get its in tact claws beak and feathers. I'll only be able to collect a few that weren't completely destroyed by that attack. Their feathers are big enough to make hammocks from. It would be nice to have a few dozen for the boats once we made them. I collected six… I guess I can make them out of spider silk but that will take a lot longer than just using roc feathers… Pushing our departure time by another month or so… Greed talked up.
“No way, you're going to delay the departure time to fighting the enemies for bedding on your ships?”
“Yea, a well rested army is an army that can fight better.”
“Are you afraid of fighting?” Greed questioned.
“NO! I'll fight anyone at any time!”
“Then why are you so afraid to head out and fight the pirates?”
“...The last time I led my army into battle… I lost a quarter of it to a single battle… What if… What if that happens again...”
“Last time you didn't have me. Remember I've got years of experience on the seas leading pirates to treasure.”
“How can I trust you? You were killed by your own men for stealing all the treasure you collected.”
“True, true. But you're forgetting my other memories. The ones where I had beaten all the other pirates, guard ships and everything else I faced out on the sea. Those men could only kill me because they were alive from my leadership!”
“...That's a weird way to spin your own death...”
“You're paying too much attention to the minor details. With me leading you and you leading your men. We stand a much better chance than you leading yourself into battle.”
It was quite for awhile… I looked around and noticed everyone was staring at me. I must have been making faces or something while I was arguing with myself… Greed spoke up again.
“Personally, if I was you, when into the bandit fort and Beatrice started yapping like that. I'd have put an arrow through her head.”
“Really! You would have lost two of your best pawns, two pawns that are in this group right now. My two friends Lance and Trice! You might have even lost more than that!”
“Yea… I guess that would have probably happened that way… Still though, I can't believe you just let her go. Aren't you afraid she'll tell Lance your mom killed his mom?”
“Well… I was at first. If it comes to that. I guess I'll just accept what he does to me as punishment.”
“OH NO YOU WONT! You got to remember, this isn't just your body anymore. You'll get two people killed not fighting back.”
“You dying might be worth my death...”
Aegis spoke up.
“Seriously you two, can you get along for ten freaking minutes. Kite, you need to go through all those memories you've gotten from Greed, it will help you understand him better.”
Taking Aegis' advice to heart. I'll try to go through his memories… The thing I'm most afraid of is seeing the dark things he's done for money. I'll have to be very careful not to let my emotions towards what he's done effect the information he can give me to help with fighting the pirates.
“Well the first thing you really have to do is get some mana canisters made. Without mana canisters, how will you ever fire the mana cannons?”
“Mana what now?”
“Every ship should have at least one mana cannon, it uses pure mana as a weapon to attack other ships and large scale monsters out on the sea. If you'd have went through my memories, you'd know that the sea is a far more dangerous place than the land. I have no idea how they're made. I only know that my ships were armed with them fifty years ago. Meaning that chances are, the pirate ships are going to be armed with something similar… Or even stronger, so that is a bare minimum.”
...Is he trying to make me feel like I'm even less prepared than I thought… The only person I know who might know anything is Merlin… I'll have to visit him. Hopefully I can find a way to make them even stronger with all my jobs. I would really like to have every advantage I can possibly get going into war with the pirates.

“Alright, one or two more bosses and we'll head out of here. My expectations have all been shattered by everyone.”
We'll call it a day for now. Most people are still fine, no one took damage… The bosses died too quickly for that to happen… Kind of makes me think we don't need four healers. I guess all the healers can do other things. Most groups are comprised of three to four healers, two to three tanks, then the rest damage and support…
Our group has five potential healers, six potential tanks and everyone can either damage or support. I haven't even needed to activate Gear yet, I will pitch in the next boss fights. We shouldn't be in here for more than another day. We decide to call it an early night so the group can spar. I'll join in once everyone has had their turns at fighting. Watching everyone spar is intense.
Epieoth and Brick are sparring so intensely there is damage happening to their surroundings. Brick tossing rocks towards Epieoth, some missing, some being deflected and some hitting. Epieoth moves in closer swinging with more enthusiasm than someone sparring should do. They aren't fighting for practice they're fighting for real.
“HEY! Break it up!”
After yelling at them they calmed down… Those two are seriously going to be a problem later on if they can't see eye to eye… Reminds me of myself and Greed. Zergnar and Lance decided to fight next. They both look at each other cautiously… One more reliant on defense the other on offense. Both use the unorthodox tactic of using more than one spear. Lance throws miniature spears for attacks while Zergnar dual wields them. This fight should be interesting.
Zergnar makes the first move running towards Lance. Lance prepares for impact. Bam! Both use dragoon combo attacks. Thrusting the spears multiple times at the enemy. Both being slowly pushed back. Lance is the first to retreat by jumping backwards. Throwing a miniature spear at Zergnar with him dodging. He jumped towards Lance while dodging the spear. Clashing mid air, the two are designed for aerial fighting.
Lance kicking off Zergnar, to get to the ground faster. He can fly up towards him and retaliate against Zergnar while he's still helpless in the air. Lance jumped towards Zergnar but before he can reach him Bloodyclaw flies in for the rescue. As a beast tamer, Zergnar can use his pets but hasn't needed to until now. That's how much of a threat Lance is towards him.
Zergnar only used Bloodyclaw to avoid the attack. He quickly dismounts, aiming towards Lance who's still falling from his attack. Lance shouldn't be able to defend himself. He pulls out his throwing knives and launches all of them at Zergnar.
Zergnar defends against a few but is struck in the arm and leg. It's enough to make it so Zergnar couldn't attack him. They still clashed in the air and landed hard on the ground. I would say it was a draw since both were injured. Lance might have come out slightly ahead on health. They both stand up smiling at each other over the great fight they just had. Two very similar people growing closer through combat. Next up is Nargzar and Leon.
The two dexterity fighters are now going at it. Before the one year split I would say Nargzar would have wiped the floor with Leon… After though, it is not the case anymore. Leon is almost a completely different person. Before he seemed somewhat lazy. Never putting in the full amount of effort he possibly could. He's changed since then. His appearance as well as his attitude has drastically changed within a year.
They both rush at each other. Nargzar might be a little faster but that isn't causing Leon to slow down at all. Both use two weapons. One in each hand, well that was before. Now Leon has a third knife in his right hand. Holding what appears to be a dual bladed sword knife. Their attacks clash.
Moving far faster than the previous two fights. Not nearly as much impact in their attacks though. It's a different fight all together. Fast attacks, swift retreats and advances. Twenty attacks have been made within the matter of seconds. The only way I could tell is by the sounds of metal clashing on metal.
Leon backs up launching ten throwing knives at Nargzar. Nargzar dodges then retaliates by firing both of his wrist crossbows. Nargzar hasn't needed to yet but it looks like he's pulling out the hidden blades under his arms. If he also uses his bladed shoes that triples the amount of weapons he'll be using. It doesn't deter Leon at all. They push in closer but the advantage is now clearly in Nargzar's favor. Leon barely dodging attacks is being pushed back.
Leon has no chance of winning now. Until I see him pull out another knife. Then another knife. He's holding three knives in his left hand now. I'm not sure how he's going to use them. Leon runs away, with Nargzar chasing him he starts throwing the knives. Nargzar barely avoiding, he already used his two wrist crossbows so he has no range until they're reloaded. Leon has suddenly retaken the advantage by running away and attacking ranged. Nargzar backs off. He starts to load his crossbows. He's gotten to the point he can reload them both in one second. It's all the time it takes for Leon to move into close range again.
Leon swings at him while he's reloading the crossbows. Nargzar dodges by rolling on the ground. While doing that he also picked up a discarded throwing knife from the ground and launched it at Leon. Leon wasn't prepared for it. He was moving in to attack, he couldn't avoid it. It caught him right in the chest. We stopped the match there. After some healing Leon was fine…
If that was a real fight, it would have been his death most likely. While everyone is using their real weapons. With so many blue mages, if that was a real fight, both weapons would have been soaked in poison. He wouldn't have been able to do anything after that first attack. Leon knows that, he looks far more disappointed than happy. Nargzar has a big smile across his face though. He speaks up to Leon.
“HAHAHAHA! What fun! I finally have a rival who can challenge me! Thank you for this, if you keep getting stronger, I will have to keep getting stronger too. To not be left in the dust!”
It seemed to cheer him up some. That's good, I would hate for a single loss to deter Leon from continuing to get stronger. Next up is Gobber and Sock.
Both move in closer… Two tanky fighters. I wonder how this will turn out. Similar to Zergnar and Lance, the only difference is the extra classes Gobber has. Gobber doesn't tend to rely on other classes for fighting though. So this still could be a close match. I gave Sock one of my totem swords. He didn't want Gobber to feel disadvantaged since his sword had broken. I also think that if Sock used his sword, it might have also ended up breaking from the intense pressure between attacks.
They sit there staring at each other for a few moments. Uncharacteristically of Sock, who is an aggressive fighter. Even he understands how dangerous this fight will be. One misstep can result in a loss. The move in closer, then closer still, inch by inch. They're within distance for attacks to connect. Finally they both swing. Boom!
A whoosh of wind comes from their attack. Both swinging with enough force to break their swords if they were made of iron. They keep swinging at each other. BAM! BAM! BAM! The attacks so heavy both of them are slowly being pushed back. Sock starts to act more aggressive. Gobber catches him moving forwards though… It is over that quickly. The first attack that connected knocked Sock down… And unconscious.
Over that quickly… Gobber is indeed too strong for anyone to fight against. I still don't understand why he has eight classes. I feel it was partially the influence of me and the god of chaos… Not understanding why Gobber is so strong still bothers me. That brings another problem, if no one can rival Gobber, he'll stop getting stronger.
“You want to go a round with me Gobber?”
