Chapter 942

Chapter 942:

Flustered by his teasing, Alicia gathered her belongings and slid off his lap. “It’s time for dinner.”

As they prepared to leave, Hank picked up the car keys to drive them.

Alicia, curious, asked, “Hank, aren’t you off work?”

Hank responded respectfully, “Ms. Bennett, driving has always been part of my duties.”

Alicia’s mind wandered back to the book from the office, still lingering in her thoughts. Something didn’t sit right with her.

Alicia deliberately chided Caden, “It’s not fair to make Hank work overtime when he’s in a relationship.”

Hank looked taken aback, ready to deny it, but instinctively looked to Caden for direction.

Quietly, Hank asked, “Mr. Ward, am I in a relationship?”

Caden was puzzled by Alicia’s comment as well. “Is Hank in a relationship?” he echoed, feigning surprise.

Alicia raised an eyebrow. “Isn’t he?”

Hank seemed on the brink of confusion—was he in a relationship or not?

Caden, noticing the mischievous twinkle in Alicia’s eyes, suddenly connected it to the earlier incident with the book. “A Hundred Tricks in Bed for Men.” He responded smoothly, “Oh, he should be.”

Hank caught on to Caden’s tone and managed a polite smile. “Yes, Ms. Bennett, I’ve recently started seeing someone. But how did you know? I hadn’t planned on making it public yet.”

Alicia let out a thoughtful “Oh.”

“Mr. Ward let it slip,” Alicia lied. “He mentioned you left a love manual at his place, and he spilled all your secrets to me.”

Hank chuckled awkwardly. “As long as you two are happy.”

Caden kept the charade up, pretending to address the issue directly. “You’ve left that book at my place for a while. Please take it back with you when you come to work tomorrow.”

Hank nodded. “Sure, Mr. Ward. Sorry for any inconvenience.”

“It’s alright,” Caden replied.

The atmosphere in the car was congenial, with the boss tacitly cooperating with his employee in staging an act for Alicia’s benefit.

Though Caden’s expression was serene, internally, he was satisfied with his choice of Hank and planned to give him a raise next month.

Hank forced a smile but harbored a twinge of envy, fantasizing about a future where roles were reversed. He would make Caden and Alicia his assistant and driver, enforcing a strict no-office-romance policy.

Recently, Monica had developed a new medication specifically for Alicia’s alcohol allergy.noveldrama
