Callie was terrified and promptly cried, "Please, Mr. Frankton. Mary is just fond of jokes, and-" Crack.
Frank squeezed before Callie could finish, and Mary's head was left hanging lopsided. Jouri and Callie traded glances, as they thought that Frank was the perfect gentleman.
While they did not expect something so brash from him, what Frank did was understandable. After all, Mary was way out of line, and she deserved that much for threatening Frank and those around him.
Frank turned toward Jouri, gritting his teeth ferociously. "Who cares about BM Group? And you ladies can come after me whenever."
Jouri smiled, shaking his head. "I remember telling you that I'm always on your side, Mr. Frankton-I only tried to stop you because I'd rather you didn't get into trouble. Mary's people might be no trouble to you, but they're still an annoyance.
Frank smirked. "What can a leaderless bunch of thugs achieve? I bet they'd fall in line like dominoes." And with those words, he turned toward Callie and was bemused when he saw that she did not appear afraid or looking at him funny.
If anything, she looked calm.
Since Frank could read expressions very well, he was positive that Callie was not really mourning Mary's death.
He sighed. "Don't tell me that you weren't going to be her accomplice, but she threatened you, so you're now defecting to my side?"
"That's exactly it!" Callie appeared shocked. "How did you know my life story?"
Frank smiled in wry amusement-he did not know her life story, but that was about the only reason that Callie would remain unaffected by Mary's death. noveldrama
Still, Callie giggled. "Oh, I'm just kidding! just work here, and if she's dead, then she's dead. Just watch your back-they're coming after you now."

"You don't have to tell me." Frank snorted. "Anyway, what was she here for, really?"
Callie shrugged. "I don't know the details, but I overheard them saying that they would like to recruit you. Mary did not agree with them, because she knew you'd rebel. That's why she tried to assert her authority and slowly test what
makes you tick, while taking those
around you hostage.
"In that sense, killing her was the right decision-it has certainly spared you plenty of unnecessary trouble."
Frank nodded. "In that case, your work here is done. You can go now."
"Wait, you're really letting me go?"
"Stay, and I might regret it!"
"Bye, Mr. Frankton!" Callie jogged away right then.
Frank and Jouri soon left the abandoned building as well.
Donnie and the others, who were waiting for a while, hurried to them, with the bigwigs eager to goad Frank into fighting.
"This is your turf, Mr. Frankton, but that bitch Mary came after you anyway! You need to show her who's boss!"
"Exactly! Who does she think she is, strutting in our faces? She clearly has no respect for you!"
"All of you, stop!" Donnie glowered. "Mary is insulting you, not Mr. Frankton! Why ask someone else to do your own job?"
Unlike the other bigwigs, Donnie was close friends with Frank and his daughter was Frank's fiancee, so he was naturally on Frank's side.
