Chapter 478

Lucian's face went through a spectacular range of emotions in a split second.

If I had to sum it up, it was akin to the look of someone caught cheating.

Hogan quickly tried to smooth things over: "Ms. Lemira, you're the only sister that matters. No matter how much Evelina tries to curry favor, she can't surpass your place."

"To be honest, I'm not too concerned about who's more important right now. I'm here because I have something to discuss.'

Lemira glanced at Hogan: "Would you mind waiting outside? I worry some might eavesdrop."

Lemira didn't underestimate Evelina anymore.

In her past life, her defeat could very well be attributed to Evelina's father's interference.

After Hogan left, Lucian quickly said, "Lemmy, what did you want to talk about? As long as it's within my power, I'm here to help."

"It's straightforward. Before our parents passed, they made a verbal will, and you were there. I need you to testify to that."

Lemira came to the hospital specifically to have Lucian as her witness.

Hearing this, Lucian breathed a sigh of relief: "And here I thought it was something serious. Our parents did mention what they left for you. We didn't give it to you earlier because you were underage, but now that you're an adult, you indeed have the right to claim your belongings."

Lucian's response gave Lemira some peace of mind.

"I disagree."

Asher slammed the door open, his face ashen, clearly having just rushed back.noveldrama

Evelina stood at the doorway, not daring to enter.

Asher, fuming, said, "Lemira, you have only one choice - to gracefully drop your lawsuit. Then, I might overlook your past actions and give you the inheritance our parents left you."

"Asher, how could you? Those belongings are rightfully Lemmy's."

Asher scoffed, "But don't forget, if it weren't for my hard work making the business so successful, all that would've been left for Lemira were debts, not a single dollar. Why shouldn't I have a say?"

Hearing this, Evelina chimed in timidly, "Asher, maybe I should give the foundation back to Lemmy."

"What talk of giving back? What's given to you is yours."

Asher turned to Lemira, "You didn't seem to care much over the phone. So why come to the hospital seeking Lucian's help now? Isn't that a bit embarrassing?"

Lemira stood her ground, "I'm here to claim what's mine. If anyone should feel ashamed, it's you, not me." Asher was deliberately threatening Lemira; his reasoning was flimsy.

In a burst of frustrated rage, Asher exclaimed, "Lemira, to think you haven't changed a bit. You've

brought the Langston family to ruin; you have no right to the inheritance!"

Lucian intervened loudly, "Asher, why say such hurtful things? It was Alaric and Caspian who were in the wrong, not Lemmy!"

"I know Alaric and Caspian were at fault, no need for you to point it out."

Asher adjusted his tie, somewhat calmer, "But I had them apologize to Lemira. Her refusal to compromise is why I'm so angry!"

Lemira sneered, "So, causing harm just requires an apology? That's it?"

"What else do you want? I can make

them make it up to you in the future. I just wish you'd stand with the Langston family at this moment. You can't even make this small compromise, and you still claim to be part of the Langstons?"

"You're right, I indeed have no desire to be a Langston."

Lemira turned and left the room, only to be stopped by Caspian outside.

"Lemira, if you relent on this matter, I promise to testify for you, to help you reclaim what our parents left. How about that?"
