Jouri Yelin had come proposing a nuclear power station project, did she not?
And she was an executive and no footsoldier-which meant she had an interest in building it.
Perhaps she had predicted the spiritron vein's intentions and was planning to help it?
Confused, Frank asked bluntly, "You've met Jouri?"
"You're sharp, as expected of my master," the golden dragon said. "Don't worry-I may appear reckless, but I wouldn't use you as a lab rat without some extent of assurance. There's an 80% chance of success in this case, which was why I decided to go ahead with it."
And with those words, it waved its hand, and a chessboard manifested. "We'd be waiting for a while, so why don't we play a round of chess to stave away the boredom?"
"Sure, but it'd be boring if we didn't make a bet. How about a question if I win?"
The golden dragon laughed. "You took the words right out of my mouth. That's exactly what I have in mind-and if I win, you must promise me one thing!"
"Of course!"
Man and dragon quickly hit it off, nonchalantly starting their game of chess.
In contrast, the lab was a scene of chaos.
Even though Frank's physical stats were far beyond normal, and he showed no resistance or allergy toward small doses of the serum, his heart rate fluctuated crazily right after he was injected with it. Worst of all, one could barely hear his heartbeat as time passed!
Terrified, Igor and the other scientists promptly tried to rescue Frank, whereas lan laughed. "How about that, Ms. Fisher? Do you understand why expertise matters now?noveldrama
"I guess I can tell you in no uncertain
terms that regeneration and controlled nuclear fusion is possible, but that's in the future. Given present circumstances, it's no more than a pipe dream."
Sue clenched her knuckles, unable to muster a retort-though it would be more precise to say that she did not want to waste her time with lan, as she only prayed inwardly that Frank was fine.
She did not care if the experiment was a success either, as Frank's life was her priority!
Curiously, she never believed in falling in love at first sight, but she was now so worried about Frank as if she could not live without him!
At the same time, lan continued to
mock her. "Twenty years ago, I read a research paper on extracting a lizard's regenerative genome and grafting it into a human. And just like with your friend here, it failed, and the test subject was reduced to a vegetative state!" Content, belongs to FindNovel
Sue slapped him across the face right then, snapping, "Shut your mouth if you don't know how to use it, or I'll kill you if you yap at me again!"
She was already furious because of Igor's reckless experiment, but she could not take it out on him since she was counting on him to save Frank, and an outburst now would just mess things up. But lan was nothing, and still she stood there, hollering at him.
Naturally, lan was incensed-even if Sue was well-connected, he did not fall short, and he certainly could not take an open slap to the face unanswered!
"Then try it! Let's see if you can walk the talk!"
Still, he merely rolled his eyes and turned to leave.
After all, this was Sue's turf, and he would only get a harsher beating if he stayed, and at that point, he would really be humiliated.
