Lemira certainly didn't expect Asher to be on the other end of the call.
Her voice was icy, "Where's Lucian?"
"Lucian? Who's that? You can't even bring yourself to call him brother, and you think you have rights to the Langston family's fortune? You're not even a part of the Langston family anymore. What makes you think you deserve anything?"
Asher felt a rush of triumph, finally having the upper hand over Lemira.
Lately, this girl had been nothing but a thorn in his side.
Lemira replied with unwavering determination, "That's my inheritance from mom and dad. You have no right to decide who gets it. I'd rather donate it to the Heartbridge Society than let Evelina have any of it."
"In your dreams. Unless you drop the lawsuit against Caspian and Alaric, I won't give you anything. Otherwise, it all goes to Évelina. I mean what I say."
The call ended abruptly.
Lemira kicked the table in frustration, feeling utterly disgusted.
Soon after, she received a call from Maple Group, "Lemira, I've got some not-so-great news." "Out with it."
"Remember how Lucian's company failed to win the bid? Well, they've been quite active lately, competing against our Maple Group and spreading rumors about us."
After hearing this, Lemira's lips curled into a cold smile. The Langston family was making their move. "What kind of rumors?" she asked.
"They're saying you're Ms. Langston, involved in the Langston Group's Al project, ran away from home with their trade secrets, and then had the audacity to sue them."
"That's all they've got?"
Lemira knew she couldn't just sit back and let the Langston family continue to haunt her.
After her team's practice session, she headed straight to the gym to work out.
While on the treadmill, she heard Orion's voice, "Didn't I tell you to rest for a few days?"
Hearing his voice, Lemira quickly adjusted the treadmill's speed.
Looking at the man beside her, she asked, "What brings you here?"
"Did you talk to Mr. Alfred about splitting the Langston family's assets?"
"Yes, I never cared much for those assets, but Asher insists on giving Evelina my parents' inheritance. I can't stand for that."
When Lemira's parents had passed away, the family was nearly bankrupt.
The wealth the Langston family had accumulated was thanks to her brothers hard work. She had no interest in it, so Evelina could have her share, but not her parents' legacy.

Orion understood Lemira's stance, "I can't believe they'd stoop so low to force you to back down." "Every time, whenever something like this happens, they always resort to such tactics to make me yield."
Lemira looked at Orion, "And then there's the plagiarism issue during Maple Group's bidding, with Asher spreading rumors that I stole the Langston family's trade secrets."

"What's your plan?"
Seeing the look on Lemira's face, Orion knew she had something in mind.
"I'm thinking of holding a press conference to clear everything up once and for all, so the Langston family can't keep hoping for a miracle."
Time to burn bridges.
Orion's lips curved slightly, "Sounds good."
"Since you agree, I'll have TG Group's PR Team set up the press conference."noveldrama
Lemira refused to let Asher's tactics disgust her any longer.
Orion handed her a bottle of water, "Looks like you don't need my help after all."
