I brought down my magical hammer onto a glowing spot on a floating plank of wood. After hammering a few others it flew off to join the other pieces spinning above a spot on the ground. The bundle of floating planks shifted and transformed into a simple table with something that looked like a mill stone attached to it.
“Alright, table built, now where is that saddle…” I double tapped the center of the workstation to pull up a window with only a few selections available. “Wha- Ah shit, this is a repair station.” I sighed in disappointment.
“Coo?” Chillet asked while towering over me from behind.
“Sorry bud, built the wrong station, let me fix up my gear and then make the right one.” I selected the few items that needed repairing before hitting accept. I felt the selected items leave my inventory as little sparkling balls of light which danced about on the table as the few tools floated about with them. A simple progress bar popped into my view ruining my view of the funny magical dance of lights.
“Coo!” Chillet cried out while bopping the top of my head with his nose.
“I’m going!” I chuckle at the cute action of the furry ice dragon, I swore it was more ferret than dragon, but I’m not one to question the magical tech on my wrist. “Speaking of Paldex, I need a way to make that saddle.” I tapped the device on my wrist.
“Guruu!” Chillet purred out in a happy squirm.
[Please unlock this Base Tech, Pal Workbench.] A screen with a simple wooden table topped with a cloth covering and tools that seemed to be used on wood and leather. [This workstation will allow access to making Tech used on the trainer’s Pals to increase their usefulness.] A large window filled with many locked and blicked out sections replaced the first.
“So I only have two I can unlock?” I tried to click on the Chillet saddle choice, but a blaring denial tone sounded out. “Huh?” I looked at the error message in confusion.
[Your soul power level is not high enough to unlock this Tech, please gain more strength to unlock this Tech.] The Paldex beeped out as it closed the screens.
“Guu…Ruu…” Chillet deflated upon hearing the sad news. His large eyes twitched with watery tears building up.
“Don’t worry!” I shouted in encouragement. “We don’t have enough leather yet anyways, so let's go get some more while leveling up to get you that saddle, what do you say?” I rub the sad boy’s head as he sniffs and tries to hold in his tears. He weakly nods his head before slowly walking away to grab a snack from a feed box we had set up after the raid.
“Trouble!” I shouted in a hushed tone to the large chicken as they were carrying a wingfull of berries they had just picked.
“Baw?!” Trouble was startled and dropped his load onto the ground. He gave me an angry glare as he struggled to pick up the spilled fruit. “Buwak?” Trouble asked while collecting the red berries.
“We need to go hunting for power, get ready to leave soon!” I tried not to laugh at his plight, so I just wave to him and head over to my little hut. “Where did this box come from?” I squat down to examine a wooden crate by the base of my bed. With a shrug I place a hand on it while feeling the contents within.

“Ruu?” The little chef perked up from their spot by the fire.
“Oh, yeah, please do so.” I just nod at their request as I frown while pulling out a green colored Pal Sphere. There were quite a few normal ones that I quickly pocketed, but this one caught my attention. “Why is it-”
[This is a Mega Pal Sphere. This higher grade Pal Sphere offers the user a higher capturing power when in use, it is recommended to use higher graded spheres when dealing with stronger Pals.] The Paldex showed off a list of many different colored spheres for a brief moment. [This ancient device can only be reproduced through an active Paldex with a user of a certain level of power.]
“So it’s a more powerful capturing tool than the blue ones, but why do I have so many?” I store the sphere with the others before taking out the last item in the box. “Is this a spark plug?” In my hand was a large asymmetrical conical metal piece with some boxy glass like apparatus with glowing dim light on its flat top. “Magical metal ice cream cone maybe?” I tossed the strange device between my hands before placing it back into the box.
[Anicent Part detected, unlocking access to Acient Technology.] My Paldex chimed out. [Pal Egg Icubator available to unlock, proceed?] A yes or no selection screen popped up for me.
“Yes.” I hit yes without a thought.
[Bonus 1st Pal Egg Instant Icubation acquired.] The screen flashed a golden light with a small present icon next to the incubator icon.
“Uh… Thanks?” I just shrug and accept the free gift, hope it comes in handy soon. “Can I build one of thos ink thingies now?” I tap on my device, it gave me a negative beep in response.
[Pal Egg Icubator requires two Anicent Parts to create, please explore a dungeon or conquer an Alpha’s territory to acquire more.] The Paldex chimed out.
“Dungeons… Where do I find one of those?” I could feel a slight itch for exploring growing in me. A sudden rumbling shook the whole area, wild pals just milling about outside my base just ignored it to my surprise. It was over a few seconds later. “What was that?” I look around, trying to see if something happened to my base.
“Get your asses moving!” I heard a shout coming from the top of the rock wall I built close to, a bunch of grunts and animal calls followed the shouting. “Move!” A gunshot echoed out from just over the ridge as fearful moans from pals were quietly hushed. “Get or I’ll make you into dinner!” The angry voice shouted out.
“What that hell is that…” I jogged over to the rockwall and scrambled up the ten feet or so of the rough wall. I peered over the ledge, a larger than my own clearing greeted my sight as I noticed the base of the tower I was supposed to destroy was right there. “Well, that’s convenient.” To the right was a set of worn down looking stone steps, a group of thugs were pushing large bloated cows down them.
“Moo!” One of the pals protested before someone dressed like a merchant shoved a pistol into its face.
“Move!” The furious merchant ground his teeth for a moment.
“Mo-” A loud gunshot ended the pal’s pity cry for help as half of its head evaporated from the pointblank attack with a large pistol.
“Get into the dungeon, now!” The merchant pointed the blood splattered weapon at the other pals. “Remove this trash.” He kicked the corpse of the pal down the rest of the steps before it splattered onto the clearing, the remaining dead eye staring right at me.
“Don’t you worry, he’ll pay.” I felt a small tear drip down my cheek as the rock in my grasp cracked from my grip. I drop back down to the ground. “Boys! We are going hunting!” I head to the repair bench to retrieve my weapons. “Show no mercy.” I pull out the magical torch and give it an evil grin.
