I found myself frozen in a white void, before me danced an inky rapidly flowing shadow with five orbs of shifting lights whizzy around the thing. The shade forms tentacles to attack the fleeting lights as their trails begin to solidify and shrink around it, trapping it within a cage. With a shrieking cry the shadowy figure is sealed within a glowing caged sphere with the 5 light spheres continuing a constant orbit. A small purplish ball breaks off from one of the spheres and flies my way and engulfs me.

“AAHH!!” I screamed as I felt another part of me scream while being ripped from my body. I huffed and blinked as the light of the purple ball pulled back while dragging a black shadowy blob from my body. “Wha?” I cough out not understanding what is happening.

[We have sealed It for now, so you had better hurry and unlock the Towers.] The purple ball glowed as it spoke, the black living goo was being forced into its center while trying to fight back.

“How?” I struggled to ask due to my body feeling utterly weak all of a sudden. Whatever this thing did to me, majorly affected my body.

[Here, a gift.] It glowed brightly before a small glowing multicolored sphere slammed into my chest. [Now go. Form a team and defeat the Towers.] A small pink glowing sphere half the size of the first appeared.

[Wait! Please, use this and save her.] The pink sphere compressed the majority of its mass into a glowing pink and white swirling Pal Sphere. [Tell her, I’m sorry.] The talking sphere vanishes as the Pal Sphere turns into a mote of light and is absorbed as well.

“Who are y-” I try to ask before the white void collapses on itself and I am brought back to the present. I look at my wrist where the usually black banded Paldex is, but in its place is now a clear band that shimmers with all the colors in certain light. “What in the…” I scratch my head in thought while looking at the thing in confusion.

“Meow…” “Bwa?” “Meow!” “Bwak!” The Pal sounds from behind me reminded me that I was currently on the run. Without even turning around I pointed to my left and yelled in surprise, before doing a u-turn and sprinting the other way towards what looked like a wooden bridge. “Bwak?!” “Merow!?” The Pals seemed to fall for my trick, lucky me.

“What can I do?!” I yelled out while running away from the rage filled mob, who were not happy for falling for my little prank. “Bow!” I turned around after crossing the bridge and equipped the bow. Without even aiming properly, I just yanked the bowstring back and let an arrow form. “Ha!” I let the arrow fly into the mass of Pals following me.

“Bwak!” The lead Chikipi knocks the arrow to the side with its beak before starting to glow.

“AH!” I shouted in terror as I turned to sprint up hill, maybe the shorter Pals will have trouble with the incline. I glance over my shoulder to see the Chikipi land from its attack, a total miss. “Crap!” I double timed it when I noticed the Pal began to form a glow around its mouth, while the others were using their attacks to gain ground on me.

“How the hell can you fight those things?!” I shouted as my lungs and legs burned. I had made it up the hill and turned off the path on a nice flat open area. “Where’s my Pal?!” I doubled over huffing while stressed out, I grabbed a few berries off the closest bush to snack on.

[Ting!] A crystal clear chime sounded from my new Paldex. [Update fully loaded. Party System added, Tech System upgraded, Tech added, Essence Enhancement unlocked.] Lights in the shape of circuits flowed through the bracelet in a beautifully distracting manner.

“Bwak!” The leading Chikipi called out while breathing heavily and pointing a wing at me, the others were slowly catching up to it and catching their breaths.

“I need my Pal, that one I caught, hurry!” I shouted while spam tapping the wrist Paldex while lightly jogging away from the angry flock.

[Please think of your Pal Party, to make a selection.] The Paldex voice sounded like it too was given an upgrade.

“Ok…Oh! This is surprisingly simple to use.” I stop jogging away and turn to face my opponents. I felt a warm ball orbiting my heart, suddening it was flying off up and out of my left arm and materialized into my hand. “Woah, what a sensation.” I say while tossing up the Sphere before it split into light and the Lucky Chikipi cried out upon its release.

“Bwak!” The enemy Chikipi halted his flock when my larger Pal joined the fight.

“Get them!” I shouted while I pulled out my bow and tried to shoot an arrow at the flock, but missed. A sudden linking sensation to my Pal made us both look at each other. I felt a weird connection to the creature, like I could guide it with some commands similar to a drone, but this was a living magical creature. “Weird…”

“Bwrak!” The Lucky Chikipi’s eyes gained a bit of light before turning to its new opponents. “Bwa!” Its body quickly gathered the glowing haze and it lunged through the enemies’ ranks. The right two Chikipis went flying into light particles before landing and the leader only had a glancing blow.

“Bwak!” The enemy Chikipi leader and its last member turned to attack my Pal with anger in their eyes.

“You forgot someone.” I say while drawing my bow after closing the distance some, now I should be close enough to hit. “I need more practice.” I say after my arrow misses and lands between the two Chikipis and only grabs their attention. “Made you look?” I shrug my shoulders at them while smiling.

“Bwa?” They both do that cute bird head tilt in confusion at my action.

“Bwark!” My Lucky Chikipi uses its charge attack to take them both out from behind. Their bodies faded from existence and left behind some meat and eggs. “Bwak!” It proudly presents itself before me.

“Uh, good job.” I say unsure of myself and pat its head. I felt satisfaction and happiness through our link. “Yeah, you did good.” I ended up giving the big Chikipi some scratches, not just because it was so soft to the touch.

[Ting!] The Paldex lit up on my wrist with a chime. I lifted it up and tapped the center rune on it.

“This is new.” I say while looking at the small window above the device. “Wait, is this me?” I stare at what I believe is my own figure in holo form under the Essence tab. “Woah, it’s possible to increase my carrying weight. What else can I, wait, is that my name!” I shouted out while leaning closer to the screen. “Not bad.” I nod to myself.

“Bwak?” My Chikipi tilts its head at my antics.

“Alright, you get a name too buddy. Now let's see…Ah, here it is!” I smile while hitting a few buttons.
