Palworld Lore Chapter 024

“Alright…” I sighed as I rolled my neck and started to stretch out behind the workbench. The Lucky Chikipi finally got up with a shake of its massive feathery body. I brought out the bow. “Now how does this- ah, simple.” I held up the bow and touched the string, an arrow appeared in my hand with a small simple counter when I focused on its shaft.

“Bwak.” The Lucky Chikipi called out to the small herd passing by it with a small wave of its wing. The others returned his silly wave, but they made it look slightly cute with their smaller bodies.

“Focus. You never used a bow before in your life, except in video games…” I failed to motivate myself and shook my head to clear it. “Come on! You got this! You have plenty of tries, so what if you miss the first shot!” I whispered loudly while gaining courage to use the new weapon.

“Let's do this.” I say with a serious look. The wandering enemy obliviously waddles over to meet the group of other smaller versions of itself. I crouch and slowly walk in the opposite direction, while I lift the wristband up. “Paldex, are those smaller ones just as powerful as the larger one?” I asked it while making sure I was completely in its blind zone.

[Chikipi is normally easy to handle and is treated as a source of food by most.] The Paldex chimed out while highlighting the smaller versions in my sight with a light blue solid flashing line. [The Lucky verison, is simply lucky to have a random ability from birth and some enhanced physical trait.] It highlighted the larger Pal.

“So not all Chic-” I started.

[Chikikpi.] Paldex interrupted.

“Um, so not all Chikipi…” I sigh while restarting and looking at the dark band-like device. “...Can do what that Lucky Chikipi did?” I make a mention of its intimidating attack while shivering. “That heat wave from the shockwave was too intense…” I rubbed my shoulders remembering the pain of the blast. The magical healing of the island sped up the recovery rate to an unbelievable amount, but the pain lingered still.

[As stated before, Lucky Pals are born with a random powerful power along with some sort of physically noticeable enhancement.] The Paldex chimed in an almost bored manner.

“Well, so be it.” I just shook my head and ignored it. I cracked my neck and took some deep breaths to calm my pounding heart. “Now or never.” I whispered as I slowly approached the grazing flock of Chikipi. The Lucky Chikipi had just sat down for a nap too. I pulled out the bow and notched an arrow, I pulled it as far back as I could manage, I held it for a split second while struggling to hold it.

“Wait…” My eyes popped open before I suddenly stored the bow away to keep it from firing. In my hand was now the freshly made Pal Sphere. “Seriously?” I looked at the grass by my feet then back to my hand. “Who the hell would drop this?” I bent down and picked up another Pal Sphere from the ground with my free hand. “They look identical…” I say while comparing the wild sphere to my magically made one.

“SNORE!!” A roaring thundering sound echoed out right in front of me, I threw my Pal Sphere out of reflex since it was currently in hand. Time slowed down as I realized what made that noise, the Lucky Chikipi, it started to snore. The other Chikipi ran off, apparently they knew better.

“Shit!” I hurriedly stored the remaining sphere and equipped my bow while the Pal Sphere finally hit the sleeping enemy. “Game on!” I shouted while backing up to the cliffs again with an arrow drawn.

[Blip] The hovering glowing Pal Sphere made a soft noise with a small wiggle.

“Huh?” I frown at the sphere while I struggle to hold the bow taught, I have come to have a new respect for archers.

[Blip] The Pal Sphere wiggled the other way with the same noise.

“Wh-” I couldn’t hold onto the arrow anymore and it went flying off wilding to the side. “My arms…” I complain while shaking out my arms from the new experience of shooting a bow.

[Ding!] The Pal Sphere had some swirling glittering light motes around it before vanishing.

“Is that it?” I blink as I look around for any signs of the Lucky Chikipi. I only see some of those pink cat types, that funny sheep one, and more Chikipi. “How come they always seem so angry.” I chuckle a moment while I watch a small flock of four waddle my way. The lead Chikipi had an arrow stuck in its side briefly before it turned into light particles and vanished. “Oh…” I turn to run away across a nice old wooden bridge.

“Bwak?” A Chikipi is standing on said bridge already, it cocked its head to the side while staring at me.

“Bwa Bwak!” The other Chikipi behind me called out to it.

“Bwa, Bwark!” It straightened up and closed its eyes before reopening them as they glowed red in anger while its body turned white.

“Seriously!” I yell while trying to dodge out of the way of its quick dive attack. The glowing hazy from the wing just grazed me as it passed by. “AH!!” I shouted while doubling over and limping my way across the bridge. “How?!” I struggle through the pain as I dove forwards into a roll as an air ball flew past me.

“Bwak!” The little leader Chikipi cried and pointed at me with his tiny wing.

“Take this!” I shouted while equipping the bow and firing as fast as I could. The arrow flies strong and mostly in the right direction.

“Bwa?” The Chikipi that the arrow was heading towards cocked its head to the side in confusion, while the arrow harmlessly passed by it and struck an innocent Pal in the bushes beyond its intended target.

“Meow!” An angry cry from the bushes revealed some pissed off pink kitties.

“At least this can’t get any worse.” I say before sprint off to the only side without enemies. Glowing attacks of power rained my way as I slid feet first down the steep slope. I rolled at the base of the small hill to avoid some more attacks from my mob. “Now what!?” I was instantly blinded by the band on my wrist exploding out in white light.
