Chapter 362: Dead

Destroying the solar panels is easier said than done.

Firstly, Moondemon had chosen this location specifically to counter Skyfire's abilities. The formation targets Skyfire's weaknesses while avoiding her strengths. Finding the location of the solar panels would take at least five uninterrupted minutes, something Skyfire didn’t have. Moondemon would never let her stay idle for that long.

Secondly, Moondemon is under the influence of the 'One Step Ahead' spell, which means Skyfire cannot use the element of surprise. She has no spell that can counteract the effect of 'One Step Ahead.'

In short, it all means one thing: Skyfire is in great trouble. She is unable to run away, which leaves her with only one option—fighting as hard as she can to kill Moondemon.

The magnifiers were still on the sun's surface. Skyfire manipulated them, targeting Moondemon and following her wherever she went.

However, Moondemon was protected by the Greenshield, so it wasn’t difficult for her to defend against the attacks no matter where she was.

The advantage of having the formation protecting her was too big to overcome.

"You shall meet your end!" Moondemon shouted and cast Brain Explosion.

Skyfire's mind went blank for one second. Usually, one second is not much, but in the middle of such a battle, it feels like an eternity.

Moondemon activated the formation to its maximum power and utilized its ultimate offensive technique.

"Sharp Edges!" she shouted.

The formation has many batteries capable of storing a massive amount of energy. In less than a tenth of a single second, all of the energy emptied and channeled into the Sharp Edges.

The ground was not solid; it was a gaseous plasma burning at a very high temperature. The Sharp Edges spell manipulated the plasma with extreme speed to create extremely sharp and pointy edges. It all happened in a little over a tenth of a second.

The sharp edges made of the sun's surface approached Skyfire's body, hitting it without resistance. They cut through layer by layer, like an extremely sharp saw, destroying her body.

The saw didn’t stop; before the end of that single second, it had gone through Skyfire's entire body.

There are a few demons who can survive even after losing their bodies; Skyfire was not one of them.

"It's over!" Moondemon said, looking on with a strange expression. She didn’t expect to really kill Skyfire with this move; she thought Skyfire would defend herself at the last moment; perhaps a magic treasure would automatically activate and would repeal the sharp edges. But no, the Sharp Edges actually killed her.

Using One Step Ahead, Moondemon confirmed that Skyfire was truly dead.

After the source died, the magnifiers collapsed and fell apart, and the sun's surface began to cool down.

"To think that you would die like this! I feel like I have left some unfinished business somewhere," Moondemon thought while frowning. She truly wasn’t expecting it to end like this. She expected that she would win but thought she would have to fight for hours, barely achieving victory after sustaining various injuries. But now, she won without so much as a scratch.

"Maybe I am really that strong?" she thought, reevaluating her own strength in her mind.

Demon kings all have pure bloodlines but rarely fight each other; they lack a true understanding of their own power, either overestimating or underestimating it. Now, it seemed Moondemon had underestimated her own strength.

"Now that she’s dead, it's time to take over her assets!" Moondemon decided.

...

The death of a demon king is no small matter; news of Skyfire's death spread throughout the world in less than a day.

Moondemon's reputation soared. After all, a demon king who can kill another is rare. In today's world, there were only two demon kings who had previously killed another. Now, with Moondemon, that number became three.

Skyfire City immediately fell into chaos but was tamed by Moondemon before it truly fell apart.

The many human farms and flesh-producing labs formerly belonging to Skyfire surrendered to Moondemon. Overall, taking over Skyfire's assets progressed without any hiccups. It was as if everyone recognized Moondemon as the legitimate inheritor. There was not a single pure-blooded demon who was loyal to Skyfire and sought revenge; by nature, demons aren't loyal creatures, and having a loyal subordinate is something rarely seen in the demonic world.

...

"It's over! Our cooperation is over!" said Fiery Pepper. After hearing that Moondemon had taken over, it immediately requested a meeting with the human civilization's chief, Wide Vision, to quit and break up its previous deals.

"Are you afraid?" Wide Vision tried provoking Fiery Pepper.

"Of course I am afraid! Moondemon is a master of prophecy; she can deduce exactly where we plan to attack and set traps for us! Even trying to fight a demon king like that is stupid. You humans have your big wall, but what about me? I would never dare to make an enemy who can deduce my location!" Fiery Pepper said. It was nowhere near strong enough to fight a demon king head-on. The reason it managed to escape from Skyfire was more a sign of her weakness in chasing rather than Fiery Pepper's strength.

Before waiting for Wide Vision to say anything else, Fiery Pepper stood up and left the negotiating table. It had nothing more to say.

Wide Vision saw this but didn’t try to stop it; there was no point. Honestly, despite appearing tough and defiant, even Wide Vision agreed with Fiery Pepper. There was no way to continue causing trouble for demonic flesh production.

"Such a shame!" Wide Vision sighed deeply, filled with regret. So many people were still in captivity. The news of human civilization saving human captives had been deliberately spread; many of the humans in those camps had heard the rumors and were waiting to be rescued.

Most of the time, having hope is a good thing, but sometimes, it’s a bad thing. At least when they didn’t have any hope, they were resigned to their fate and didn’t have too many dreams. But now, after gaining hope, they are imagining days when they become free, hoping to see the outside world. But those hopes are destined to eventually turn into deep disappointment.

The human captives are living in terrible conditions; if they find out that human civilization won't come to see them, most of them will become so depressed that they might try to kill themselves; unfortunately for them, demonic farms always have a lot of monitors to stop the captives from committing suicide; therefore, those poor people have to live a life worse than hell; knowing this, Wide vision decided to let them believe in the false hope that Human Civilization is coming for them, that they aren't abandoned; he didn't plan to let them know the truth

Wide Vision's heart ached thinking of that. He really cared about humanity, and the thought of how many people would have to suffer saddened him to no end.

"We are so weak! Humanity is so weak! Why can’t we save our kind from this cruelty?" he asked himself these questions, but again, all he could do was sigh.

He partially blamed himself.

Human civilization was the force behind accelerating the confrontation between the two demon kings. The plan was to wait for the two to fight each other, and in the end, after one was killed, humanity would attack the other and kill her. In this way, the two demon kings responsible for the majority of the flesh production would die, paving the way for potentially saving the entire human captive population; it had high risk but also very high reward

Who knew that Moondemon would be able to kill Skyfire without getting injured herself? After the battle, the elite human team, who were sent to kill the injured demon king could only retreat. Defeating an injured demon king was already difficult beyond imagination, with, at best, a 97% chance of success. But defeating a completely healthy demon king was many times harder, with only around a 10% chance of success. If they battled and lost, most of humanity's high-end powerhouses would be killed, which would put the entire human civilization in danger; they didn't take the risk and retreated.

...

The entire flesh business came under the rule of Moondemon, who quickly consolidated her power. Despite being a monopoly, she didn’t increase prices; instead, she reduced them by 10% in an effort to buy goodwill.

She ordered the creation of one big human farm and the closure of smaller ones. Now that all flesh businesses are under one demon king, there is no longer any reason not to create one massive human farm instead of many small ones. Managing one farm is much easier than defending many small ones. Likewise, she also ordered the creation of a massive flesh lab.

Her end goal was to have one big human farm and one flesh lab. Previously, the two demon kings were on guard against each other; they didn’t want to put all their eggs in one basket, so they created many farms and labs.
