What do vampires eat?
Blood, of course. But does it have to be human blood?
The answer is a surprising no! Animal blood can also be used as food. However, for vampires, animal blood is disgusting!
One question: Imagine you are a human; now, would you like to eat a well-prepared dish or worms and cockroaches?
For vampires, animal blood is as disgusting as eating cockroaches is for humans. It may be even worse, as humans may be able to improve the taste of cockroaches, but vampires cannot; animal blood would remain disgusting, and drinking it would be nothing short of torture.
But it does work and has no long-term, adverse health impact, not considering the mental effect of tolerating such a horrible taste.
Elizabeth, however, wanted to try animal blood. She had already read Alex’s book and knew about all of these details.
There were still a few hours until morning; she was hungry now, and waiting meant she might lose control and eat a human.
So, she must act now.
There are a few living animals in the palace. They would keep them for some special dishes that need fresh meat. There were few, only five sheep and two pigs.
For now, those are enough.
She knew where they were. There were guards everywhere, so stealing them alone would have been challenging if she were not a vampire.
Currently, however, she can move at 30% of the speed of sound, which is fast enough for the guards to not notice.
She does not want nobles to know she has become a vampire. Nobles know about supernatural creatures, but they don’t know about vampires. They can look into historical books and legends and find her weaknesses if they find out. Nobody is allowed to know she drinks blood.
Moving quickly, she took the five sheep and two pigs and brought them to a quiet place outside the city.
Normally, passing through all the layers of guards would have been hard, not to mention the huge city wall. But with her current abilities, it was just so easy- ridiculously easy.
She cannot imagine how much more powerful beings like Alex III are.
Looking at the animals in front of her, she sighed.
She is not a vegetarian or an animal rights supporter. She is a humans-first type of person who only thinks of animals as a way of helping humans.
Still, she felt pity for these animals she bound tightly. They must remain alive throughout the process when she is draining their blood.
To lessen their suffering, she hit them on the head, making them pass out. Then, she picked up a sheep.
It was limp, but its heart was beating.
Closing her eyes, she cut.
The poor sheep's blood poured out, and along with it, the smell hit her nose.
"Disgusting!" It was one of the worst smells she ever experienced. It was like rotten meat and eggs combined.
Still, Alex III wrote that animal blood was entirely healthy, not counting the mental toll.
Not wanting to let the blood go to waste, she started sucking.
"UGG!" She threw up!
The taste was indescribable; she had never eaten anything so disgusting.
As a princess and later a king, she never ate anything that tasted bad.
To go from that directly to drinking this …
The transition was just too abrupt.
Still, she must continue. If she surrenders and doesn't drink, she will eventually get hungry and will be tempted to drink a human.
She started sucking the blood and resisted her body's instinct to throw up.
After a few minutes, she dropped the dead sheep to the ground and fell herself a second later.
If you encounter this story on Amazon, note that it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.
"Am I supposed to drink this every time?" She felt like her future was very bleak.
It's no wonder that there are almost no vampires that eat animal blood.
Human blood has the best taste imaginable, while animal blood has the worst. One may resist for a few years, but eventually, they will give in to the temptation.
Looking at the next six animals, she felt she wanted to run away!
Alex wrote that a new vampire must eat at least 50 kg of blood. These five sheep and two pigs were barely enough.
She must persist.
If she is not well-fed, she might succumb to the strong temptation.
Vampires have their issues. One is that they all have an urge to drink blood. The urge is strongest when they are hungry and weakest when they are full. But it never goes away.
Elizabeth is sure to be able to resist it when she is full, but even she may fall into hunger.
Two is the increased sexual desire. Elizabeth can feel it now, as she wants to meet some of those concubines for the first time.
Third is the gradual loss of positive emotions. It was not a problem for Alex, as he never had many positive emotions like love and compassion. But, for Elizabeth, this is a massive issue.
Fortunately, Alex's book states that if one doesn't use human blood, the loss in emotion would not happen.
This is yet another reason for avoiding human blood.
Elizabeth is highly wary; she must not ever try human blood. It is written that the taste of human blood is so good many vampires get addicted to it; if she knows the taste, it would make resisting the blood temptation many times more difficult.
Sighing, she picked up the second sheep, cut its throat, and started sucking.
She tolerated the taste and, after a few minutes, put down the dried-up sheep.
She did the same with the rest.
After one hour, she looked at a few animal corpses before her. She felt mentally exhausted but was proud of herself in her mind.
Only vampires can understand how horrible of an experience drinking animal blood is.
To be able to resist the taste, she felt her willpower must be powerful.
Now, if she tries to conserve energy, she can go without hunger for a month! During this month, she can also eat normal human food.
Vampires can eat human food and even enjoy delicious food more than humans. Vampire senses are increased, so they can taste food much better.
The same is true about sex. Because of their increased skin sensitivity, they enjoy sex many times more than humans. It is said that using vampire blood could help humans have a much better experience in bed.
Of course, this was only one of Alex's experiments. In reality, no one would dare to use the blood of vampires for such purposes.
Feeling very tired, she wanted to return to her room.
But then she stopped.
Her room was not tightly closed, so some sunlight inevitably leaked out in the morning. As a vampire, sunlight can severely hurt her.
So, she decided to change her room.
She decided to use one of the rooms in the food storage as her new room. The food storage room has no window and is quite sturdy, making it highly suitable.
Returning, she met the eunuch guards and ordered them to make the changes.
Most eunuch guards were in deep sleep, with some being awake to do their duties. But, after Elizabeth asked, everyone was quickly awakened and sprung into action.
Their sole responsibility is serving Elizabeth, and they are paid extremely well, so she didn't feel bad for waking them up at 3 am.
It was winter, so the sun wouldn't come out until 7 am.
Fortunately, during these few hours, they managed to move everything along.
Elizabeth thanked them and told them that because she hadn't slept well last night, she would sleep now; she told them not to let anyone in, no matter what.
…
Soon, nobles got the news that Elizabeth had become a supernatural existence.
At first, those who heard it laughed it off, but then the evidence, like Don and Sam's bloodstains, came out.
Of course, most still didn't believe it, but they didn't laugh it off either.
They all planned to go and meet the king. But, to their surprise, it was said that she was asleep.
No matter how much they insisted, the eunuch guards didn't let them in.
One more surprising fact was that the king changed her room from a majestic one to the food storage room. It was ridiculous, but only through a human lens.
Maybe supernatural beings like quiet places?
It made them think that the rumor may be true! Elizabeth may really have become a supernatural!
…
Elizabeth looked around, then jumped up as if she saw a ghost!
Bang!
She hit the ceiling and broke it because she jumped too far into the air!
"You!" she screamed.
"Yeah, me!" John said while sighing.
He got the news of Elizabeth becoming a vampire.
Alex III punished him and ordered him to find other vampires to share the punishment. John didn't know the precise location of any other vampire, so instead of looking for one, he decided to use Elizabeth as his first target.
Coughing, he started talking," I am a sinner! I looked for loopholes in His Highness Alex III's orders and caused his will to be distorted; as a punishment, his honor ordered me to take out my eyes and eat them 1,000,000 times!" he said.
As an old first-generation vampire, any amputation will be cured in less than 10 seconds. If he did it nonstop, it would take 10 million seconds to complete.
That would be 116 days!
Of course, that is for one vampire. He must do it for every single vampire that existed at the time of the order.
He started, with his finger, took out his left eye, then ate it. Next, he took out his right eye and ate it too.
His left was already healed by the time he ate his right eye. He repeated the same actions; first taking out the left, eating it, then doing the same with the right.
It does hurt horribly, but who is John? He is a vampire older than a million years old. For him, pain doesn't mean much.
Because there is no wastage, he doesn't need to drink blood to heal.
Elizabeth looked at all of this, completely stunned. It was so bizarre she couldn't even speak.
"I think it's better if I leave!" She felt John was crazy.
"Please! If you help me now, I'll make up for it later!" John begged. As of now, she is the only vampire he knows about.
"How long will it take?" Elizabeth asked.
"Only 116 days!" he said.
Elizabeth's eyes went wide!
"Are you going to dig your eyes for +100 days straight?"
John said," Yes."
"And you expect me to watch it all?" Elizabeth asked, completely dumbfounded.
"Yes," John said while taking out his right eye.
Elizabeth sat on her chair, staring at John blankly as he dug out his eyes time after time.
"The vampire world is more interesting than I thought," Elizabeth thought while sighing.
