Chapter 327: Humanoid

Jack has always been most worried about the transmigrators. He has complete knowledge of the world; the only wild cards are the transmigrators. Now, after 20,000 years, he can only hope that the transmigrators outside aren’t stronger than him.

He started preparing to dig out the core crystal of this inheritance ground. It is not easy, as it requires carefully setting up many formations.

...

Faith arrived in the inheritance ground with Jack tens of thousands of years ago; she got used to it after a while, but it doesn't mean she wasn't frustrated. Her lover, Redy, came with her. Still, the inheritance ground suppresses the cultivation of all those it considers outsiders.

As a result, she lost her ability to cast the transformation spell to transform herself into a horse body.

It was a devastating blow to her morale.

She found Redy and fell in love with him. Don’t look at his body as that of a horse; as a magical beast, he is completely intelligent and loves her. To regain her ability to transform her body, she begged Tlod. He gave her magical items to help her in her situation, but those techniques weren’t the same.

The best way to do it was for Redy to reach the Substance Soul realm.

Even though the cultivation of outsiders would be suppressed in the inheritance ground, that doesn’t mean they would lose their ability to meditate and advance their realm. As a result, both Redy and Faith worked hard to get stronger.

Redy reached the Substance Soul realm in only 3,000 years. From then on, he learned to change his body into human form. Some beasts gain a humanoid body after reaching a specific cultivation realm; for Redy, that specific cultivation realm was the Substance Soul realm.

The inheritance ground suppresses all supernatural powers; however, Redy's ability to transform into a human physique after reaching the Substance Soul realm was just a basic biological function, like breathing. As a result, it wasn’t suppressed.

After gaining this ability, he has remained in his human body and lived with faith ever after ... or not really. Faith and Redy started having issues after living together as a couple for a few months; they broke up and decided to live alone and only occasionally see each other.

After trying and failing to get back together a few times, they finally decided to give up completely. Redy was furious with Faith because she treated him like her pet, even after he gained his human form. Faith was unhappy with him, too. She complained that he 'changed' after transforming into a human and demanded him to become her horse again, which only infuriated Redy more than he already was.

Nowadays, they can't stand each other; it's best not to put them in the same room; otherwise, they may strangle each other to death. These two are living proof that love stories do not always go as planned.

...

After arriving in this inheritance ground, Amber has spent most of her time cultivating and trying to reach a higher realm. From time to time, she debated with Tlod, learned from him, and also taught him. Fortunately for her, Jack has a treasure trove of cultivation resources; there are no cultivation resources lacking, even after tens of thousands of years.

The treasure trove Mike picked up in the Blood Sea inheritance ground was supposed to be enough for cultivation to the peak of the Perfection realm. Jack didn’t use any of it but gave it to his subordinates. How many cultivation resources are needed to reach the peak of perfection? The quantity would be unimaginable. Even after over five people using and drawing from it for tens of thousands of years, not even 1% of it has been consumed.

With no lack of cultivation resources or knowledge, and with the next chapters of Heaven's Way ready, Amber managed to reach the peak of the Multiple Soul stage in less than 50,000 years! Multiple Soul stage cultivators can live for up to 100,000 years, while Substance Soul cultivators can live for 50,000 years. Her fellow disciple, Faith, only reached the peak of the Substance Soul stage; she was spending much less time in cultivation and was far more playful and adventurous than her. Amber has been like the smart kid in the class, while Faith is like the kid who always plays with her phone, even during exams; she only has about 20,000 years left to live. Jack has been urging her to stop wasting time and instead focus on reaching the Multiple Soul realm, but so far, she doesn't seem to care.

Redy has reached the peak of the Substance Soul stage; he is very close to the multiple soul realm.

As a magical beast, his lifespan is slightly longer than Faith's at the same stage. Magical beasts gain lifespan as they mature. But, as a horse, Redy is not a mythical beast; therefore, his lifespan is only a few thousand years more than a human of the same stage. If he were a dragon, his lifespan might have been 100,000 years more than a human of the same stage.

The evolutionary path of magical beasts is very different from one another. A dragon mythical beast has few traits in common with an ice giant mythical beast. Therefore, when it comes to magical beasts, one cannot paint them with a broad brush; it’s a case-by-case scenario. Some magical beasts have it easier to cultivate certain techniques, while others have it harder. For example, a fire dragon has a high affinity with fire techniques, while a heavenly dragon can cultivate heaven techniques much more efficiently.

There are other limitations as well.

Ordinary magical beasts, such as cats, lions, horses, etc., have a low evolutionary peak, while mythical beasts have a high evolutionary peak. The evolutionary peak refers to the realm magical beasts would reach naturally, even if they only eat and sleep and do not cultivate at all.

Some dragons have Perfection realm evolutionary peaks, though to actually reach their peak, it would take an extremely long time. In practice, most would be enslaved by perfection cultivators long before they reach the Perfection realm.

Most beasts with high Evolutionary peaks require a lot of sleep for long periods of time, which greatly limits their ability to cultivate cultivation techniques. Even ordinary magical beasts may have limitations in cultivation. Being a magical best has some advantages but also many disadvantages. In this world, there is no force dominated by magical beasts; most of the time, being a magical best would mean serving a human master and being enslaved for life.

Humans dominate this world simply because while magical beasts can cultivate, their affinity with cultivation techniques is very low. That’s why when high-blood mythical beasts reach high realms of cultivation, they usually transform into their humanoid and no longer care about their beast form.

Some high-blood dragons, who somehow got lucky and managed to reach the peak of perfection without being enslaved, eventually permanently transformed their bodies into that of humans. It can be said that the path of cultivation is biased against beasts. To have the best chance of advancing and eventually reaching rank 10, the most suitable physic is the human body.

This bias exists in many worlds, but not all. In some worlds, being human would be a liability and reduce the chances of reaching rank 10. In those worlds, humans have to take a beast form when they reach a high realm of cultivation. Overall, however, the world is humanoid-centered.

This may be one of many paradoxes that exist in the creation.

The humanoid body, a flawed form with only two hands and feet, is the default form in most places. Nobody knows the reason; it is just what it is.

The humanoid body is very flawed; there are many shapes that can be much more advantageous in cultivation. For example, a body with four feet would be much more stable while walking, running, standing, etc. Four feet and four hands, with each hand having more fingers, maybe with two heads, would be much more suitable. Having more hands would allow it to do more in less time, and having two heads would allow one to have more brain computing ability.

Humans rely on each other to produce offspring. If one person could have produced offspring alone, leaving descendants would have been much more convenient.

Not counting biological bodies, it is quite indisputable that robotic bodies are superior to biological ones. They can download the memory of their previous generation, change and fix their parts, and live for as long as they can fix their parts, and even if their entire body is destroyed, as long as their 'data' remains, they can stay 'alive.' Their computing ability is much superior. They can adapt to all situations, etc. Why don’t robotic bodies dominate the world?

Overall, it is not hard to design a more efficient body than a human body. Therefore, it cannot be said that the humanoid body became the dominant form of life because it was better than the competition; it was not. The reason must be something else, something deeper.

If it was just a planet, evolution could have explained it. But the humanoid form is not only on one planet but everywhere.

Humanoids are the dominant form of life of the creation for one reason: Rank 14 beings. Most rank 14 beings are humanoids. As a result, forces under them also use humanoids. After all, most rank 14s are humanoids. Something about the humanoid form must have caused them to succeed over all others, right?

But that doesn’t really answer the core question.

Lower forces adopted the humanoid form because of a higher chance of reaching rank 14. Most rank 14s are humanoids because of the adoption of the humanoid body as mainstream, a self-fulfilling prophecy, or a paradox, depending on the point of view.

Humanoids are adopted as mainstream because everyone thinks they have the best chance of reaching rank 14, yet there is no evidence or explanation for why they have a better chance at rank 14. This can also be viewed as a paradox because there is no beginning as to when humanoids started to dominate. Logic cannot explain how it all started or how the humanoid body became mainstream in the first place. Was it just luck or something deeper beyond it?

The phenomenon of adopting the human body as the default form happened in most charges of reality. It is extremely unlikely that all of it happens by luck.

One theory is that the first humanoid appeared at the moment of the gray realm's separation from the creation. Most high-level beings believe this theory despite the lack of evidence for it.
