At some point the consciousness, although vague, has to wake up at some point.
"..."
No words...No emotion, Not even curiosity.
The consciousness was completely okay with the status quo.
What is its status? A gem.
What kind of gem?
A gem is a gem, and the conscious mind of anything else that tries to differentiate a gem does not know a gem is a gem so long as the gem became a gem at some point.
Confusing?
You and me both.
But an easy way of saying this that the gem does not care what others think of it. It only cares about itself and being...a gem.
But the gem suddenly received a new meaning from somewhere beyond its understanding.

If the silence were to be put into words of human language that silence would be called 'strange'. Gem felt complete strangeness from this foreign and yet somehow recognizable meaning being told to it.
This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.

'Obviously gem cannot read.' Is what that silence is trying to convey.
"..."
'but gem receives something and gem does not understand why gem knows.' the gem said in silence from being utterly flabbergasted.
"..."
'Gem realizes gem does not need to care. Gem is gem, foreign is not gem so gem does not bother with foreign.' An amazing twist of logic occurred as the gem finally found an answer to the system's notice.
And so...
Life goes on.
Most of the planets in this newly formed solar system around the star have reached an accumulation point. A point where gas and particles all around have finished gathering from gravity and formed complete planets.
Yet, both the rocky masses and the gas giants are far too hot to have any form of significant solid state of matter. Yes that's correct, most of the surface of the planet the gem is currently on is still molten hot red.
Making for every thousand years a difficult trial of survival for the next batch of systems. But only for a moment, it does not take long to find the gem, the only remaining consciousness in existence, and bind to it.
As for anything else on this molten hot planet?
Don't be kidding. What can possibly happen has happened. After all it's been only but a short brief moment of a million years.
The planet won't cool into a hot magma surface for at least another billion years... If not more if for some unexpected reason such as planets colliding.
As such, the planet will just have to wait.
As for planets colliding?
A very real possibility. There exists three rocky planets that share a similar distance from their parent star in their orbit.
Note, when I say similar distance. I mean 'similar' distance. These planets are very well beyond any sort of the word 'close'. But on the galactic scale, these planets well are truly 'close'.
All that is needed is time and the perfect orbit of several planets to gravitationally pull and alter their courses to collide.
This time... Most likely would have to be counted on the millions of years scale. But for a newly formed solar system that's nothing. Millions of years to the solar system is like the blink of an eye to us.
Time is on their side after all. Plenty of time to make it happen.
And so...
Time moves on.
