[So...uh...I want to say there is about several hundred foxes.]
"..."
'...'
...
"So how many foxes are there."
"..."
'...oh just only 700 foxes.'
"..."
"..."
'...'
"You serious...?"
"..."
'...system?'
[Dead serious.]
"..."
'Gem is serious.'
"...oh, uh...so about your 'friends'...maybe they went on vacation. the token must be lying"
"..."
'Gem would ask you to go further if Gem knew you can survive...but it's okay to give up. gem will forgive you.'
[Indeed, leaving now is not the retreat of the cowardly but the fallback actions of the smart.]
"..."
'So quietly walk back. Gem doesn't have any power to fight more then about 15 foxes. let alone 700 foxes.'
"Good idea..."
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.
And so...our trio slowly and quietly walked back from the first floor room to the hallway...from the hallway to the stone door. then slowly open the door.
Each creaking noise or rubbing of the floor tightened and hanged the heart of the trio. After finally leaving and closing the door did the trio let their hearts rest. but they didn't feel safe from where they stood and left a good distance before talking loudly.
"WHAT WAS THAT! 1.75 OR 1.9 IS CLEARLY WRONG!"
"..."
'Gem doesn't know but gem's heart cannot handle another one of those.'
[Check the gizmo to see the reader again. obviously her mom gave her a broken one.]
"..."
'check the gizmo, maybe your mom gave you a broken one.'
"let me see."
opening the bag the trio soon discover the gizmo and take it out. Only to the see the last recording...
"Error.."
"..."
'So...you just walked into an Error dungeon we gem...beat the first floor...and survived to tell the tale?'
[Indeed, maybe we should have checked the gizmo in the main first floor. that's what the obvious system is telling me.]
"..."
'So...you said there was a town nearby?'
"Yeah, I know the general direction. But not exactly how far, I just know it's at the entrance of the mana forests. A bit north from our current position."
"..."
'Lets go over there and get a party set up. maybe someone will have a higher mana meter counter there too. If the price is right we can always sell it.'
[Sounds like a good plan.]
"Yeah, good thinking gem."
And off they went!
...
What?
What about the dungeon?
What about their perilous journey?
Oh Please...This is their lives we are talking about. The water elemental is smart enough not to do something that crazy. Gem is narcissistic but not dumb, the system...well the system doesn't want to be stuck in a dungeon with gem forever after failing to escape. most likely gem will make the system go crazy if that were to happen.
They know when they overstayed their welcome. the world doesn't revolve around them after all, some things are just not meant to happen by them.
...
little did they know...things are not over inside the dungeon. after about half an hour one of the foxes on the second floor got up to stretch and yawn before heading to the first floor.
What? monsters should be restricted to their specified floor?
Not all of them, while yes there are some...others just don't go up the levels because they respect and follow the decision of the dungeon core, but sometimes they get bored or some noise from an event might make them rush up the floors in curiosity.
good thing the water elemental did it all when they were asleep...
anyways...that fox found the murder site...then all the second floor foxes found out...
..then the 3rd floor...
...the 4th floor...
...the 50th floor...
...the 99th floor...
..then the dungeon core was alerted...
...and was furious.
