Yes, what a interesting turn of events.
But also somewhat reasonable.
How did the trio stumble upon a token several days prior to a dungeon never found before after the thunderclaps party died?
Did the water elemental find it?
Clearly she found it, but not by luck. What dungeon core in their right mind would throw away something so precious as their token haphazardly like that. Not to mention The road they traveled is the common road to the mana forests. Someone must have witnessed the token before them if that was the case.
By the way, what about the water elemental herself?
Clearly she had a group prior to the duo and was hired as their local navigator. How can she up and leave with the boring excuse that the gem interested her in her mind.
Add on to the fact that the gem was horrible with directions and wasted a lot of time traveling... It seemed almost perfect for her to be arranged as the navigator to the local area.
And yet she never questioned it besides a passing thought. Even going so far as to put up with an incredibly annoying narcissistic gem. Anyone would have lost interest in the beginning and left. Sure the gem was rare, but it's not unique. It's not difficult to find something that could do similar things to what the gem can do. And be better by not being so narcissistic.

How about the gem?
Everything seemed to fall into place. Never too much danger and never really getting its alone time either to admire itself. Everything just 'happened to work' perfectly.
Such was the case in the rock region. Everything was so smooth that no accidents happened to block their path.
And 'coincidentally' the gem was photographed by passing drone and received a series of tests. This is the very same gem that has a bunch of scouting systems. Not only that, there are plenty of systems to make the gem invisible to any monitoring known to exist.
Yet the drone somehow did the impossible. Or it was deliberately led to.
What about the encounter with the group of system owners and 'Alejandro'. They all seemed to fit perfectly and Alejandro being the antithesis the gem fears. And getting a new ride out of it too.
Let's not forget once the group got inside the dungeon. They were never affected by any spell and easily left after checking twice the meter inside the dungeon.
And finally, the laboratory inside the mana forests. They all just so coincidentally happened to be going to a lake right close by. And 'coincidentally' the system found The entrance and mistaked it for an anomaly.
And all of a sudden the mechanical horror received a crystal nucleus heart right there and then. Leading to its escape.
If you can't figure it out by now.
The one doing all this and more...
[Everything is going according to plan.]
Yes...there plan towards their goal is going smoothly.
And now there is a murderous robot going fully destructive supersonic.
A dungeon core going up north.
To both meet...in the town.
And coincidentally the trio happened to receive a note to go to the largest trading city. A city of trade, the city full of valuables.
Valuables left unprotected by high level mercenaries because the mercenary headquarters branch there sent them off.
Sigh...
Oh yeah the citizens in the town...
Poor citizens...they probably don't even know what's coming to them.
