Chapter 537: An old friend.

Amelia and Tetra stared at each other.

They were both at the dining table, discussing peacefully, until Amelia angrily stood up with her right fist on the table.

"Repeat that if you're ready for the consequences!"

But Tetra stayed silent.

After a moment of silence, she opened her mouth.

"D-Did I say something I shouldn't have?"

Her eyes were spinning, and her face showed how confused and lost she was.

"..."

Staring at the distraught woman, Amelia realized that she might have jumped to conclusions.

"Repeat what you've said."

Sitting back on her chair, she rubbed her brows in exasperation.

"I know a lot more about Orion than you, so let me tell you more about it..."

"Tsk."

Clicking her tongue, Amelia glared at her once again.

"That's what I meant. I think I get where you're coming from, but I really don't like how you've phrased it."

Reflecting on what she had said, Tetra looked even more lost.

"Don't look at me like that. It's you who's speaking nonsense that angers me."

Pondering a bit more, Tetra finally understood.

As her eyes opened widely, she looked down.

"I didn't mean it like that! I promise!"

After sighing, Amelia calmed down.

"Say it again. This time, without that nonsensical provocation."

"I learned a lot about Orion when we were in the past. I wondered if you were interested in hearing those stories..."

"Really... I don't know how you managed to turn this into such a mess."

Amelia couldn't believe it. A simple request wrongly spoken managed to irritate her beyond the usual threshold.

"I'm going to agree that you've been with him longer than me, and I don't mind that."

Her face darkened as her eyes gleamed dangerously.

"But I'm not going to accept that anyone knows him better than I do. I'm the only one who can read his heart."

Her finger tapped the table repeatedly. It only made Tetra more anxious.

"Sorry. It wasn't my intention."

"I realized that by looking at your face. Just be careful of your speech."

It was obvious that conflict would arise from time to time. We were talking about nine women sharing the same man.

They were living together while making great sacrifices.

You could be reading stolen content. Head to the original site for the genuine story.

Even Amelia, the most understanding person in this family, had a few topics that irritated her. Those mainly concerned Orion.

"I'll be careful."

Tetra nodded while still looking guilty. She blamed herself for that mistake harshly.

"Alright. Let's forget this happened."

Letting go of the frustration she felt a few moments ago, she crossed her arms.

"Now that I got your point, I'm fine listening to whatever stories you have."

"In that case."

Slowly recovering from her mistake, Tetra began with Orion's meeting with Noah.

...

Back in Noctelagia.

"Olivia!"

Alice, who was training her dark magic with the other maids, barged into her study.

"..."

Standing from her desk, she looked at her maid, who was sweating buckets.

"What is it? Judging from your demeanor, it's something relatively grave."

"It awakened!"

"!"

Olivia instantly turned around, opened the window, and leaped through it.

With no need to hide her true identity anymore, she glided toward the beach at high speed.

'After a year.'

'It's finally showing signs of life.'

From the air, she could see slight movement from under the water.

A giant, colossal shadow, which looked like a giant rock, slowly rose from the depths of the ocean.

Her wings flapped, holding her position over the giant shadow.

*Groan*

Hearing a low growling noise coming from the sea, she swallowed with difficulty.

Then, the creature's head finally emerged, breaking apart the water's surface.

Numerous mollusks had taken a spot on its skin, but it seemed to care little as its massive eyes opened after a year of slumber.

"Where..."

Olivia slowly hovered down, entering the sight of the creature.

"You are in Noctelagia."

Its dark eyes moved, and finally, the Leviathan noticed her.

"You... are Olivia. The one who rescued me from that awful curse devouring me."

"It's me."

With a smile, she dropped on top of its long nose and carefully avoided slipping on its wet, leathery skin.

"You've changed quite a bit since the last time."

"Of course. It's been an entire year since that time."

The Leviathan closed its eyes and tried to recall the aftermath of that day.

"I... felt weak and closed my eyes."

"You've been recovering. Even if I managed to heal your body, I couldn't do the same for what's deeper. Your mind was damaged, and it needed rest. That's what a friend of mine said."

That friend was Titania, the master of souls.

"We've been prudent not to disturb your sleep. Even the kelpies helped protect you while you were asleep."

Opening its eyes again, it glanced to the side, where a few rapid currents caught its attention.

"Kelpies?"

"One of this continent's underwater inhabitants."

Seeing the horse-like beasts moving all around it, it understood.

"I see. I had no idea some dwellers of the sea were peaceful."

"Most of the time, I had to devour them."

Olivia frowned.

"The corruption turned everything into a hot mess. Now that it's gone for good, you shouldn't have to worry about ever being contaminated again."

Listening to her words, it heard the underlying hidden meaning.

"What happened while I was resting?"

With a faint smile, she began to explain the story of her family against Miasma's forces.

...

"So, it's all over."

Olivia finished explaining everything until Orion's return, which confirmed the end of Miasma.

"That is great. The world will finally heal from the damage."

Nodding, she frowned.

"You are right. A lot of damage was done to the land as we fought against those giants."

"It was a miracle we managed to protect the human cities."

"There are giant craters in the plains near the mountains, and scorched lands practically everywhere."

With a hard face, she looked down.

"We caused plenty of unnecessary wounds to the earth. All we can do is wait and see how it heals."

The giant creature, which was linked to nature itself, eased her pain.

"There is nothing to fear. Nature always heals her wounds."

"Like it did for me."

She stared at it with a smile.

"It will take time, but everything will return to normal."

"While this happens, I have a request."

Surprised by this sudden turn in the conversation, she listened.

"Would you introduce me to that 'Orion' individual? I have a wish I would like to have granted."

~

While a lot was happening during that same week, it finally settled down.

The days went by rapidly, between the training of the maids and the constant research of Stella and Reon.

At last, Orion and the massive creature happened.

Standing on the beach of Noctelagia, Orion placed his hands on his hips and waited.

*Crash*

The waves threatened to wet his shoes, but he remained stoic.

Until a tall mound of water broke through the flat surface, that was.

"Whoa!"

Orion was awed by the size of this monster before a smile formed on his face.

"It's something else seeing it from here compared to the castle."

His spirit ablaze, he couldn't help but lift himself off the ground and fly in its direction.

The massive body of the Leviathan appeared at last while Orion dropped closer to it.

"I can tell you are the person I requested."

"Dragon's speech? But somehow different."

Hearing the rumbling voice in his head, he nodded.

"That's correct. I am Orion. Do you have a name?"

"I do not."

"Alright."

It felt a bit strange, but that's what most creatures were. Nameless.

"Olivia refused to tell me what you wished from me. I heard that hearing it from you would be more persuasive."

"Whatever it is, I will grant it, as you've protected her in her time of need."

Orion was always kind to those who were on his side. It became especially true once he returned from the past.

"My only wish..."

"Is to return the corpse of the white dragon."

Instantly, his demeanor changed. The air around Orion became calmer, and a feeling of intense pressure escaped his body.

"Velridar's corpse..."

Placing his feet on the Leviathan's forehead, he made an instant decision.

"Bring me there."

"Gladly."

After so long, the Leviathan began to swim through the water.

"You can dive. I'll maintain my position with magic."

Giving no response, it rapidly sank toward the bottom of the sea.

Water submerged Orion slowly, until his head disappeared under the water's surface.

Covering his body with a layer of void magic, he sealed his body from the pressure and the water.

Breathing fresh air from Horizon through a tiny portal, he avoided suffocating.

Standing on top of the Leviathan's massive head, he crossed his arms.

'Velridar. I'm coming to you.'

...

The old dragon was significant to Orion.

He was the second Remnant he ever found and was a very kind individual.

Through some events, he learned that his love for the dragons and the lamias was genuine.

But there was something he would never forgive him.

Giving up on living.

Velridar gave his power to Deveralna in an attempt to support the lamias. The guilt in his heart was so strong that the old beast chose to die alone, without telling anyone.

And for that, Orion would never forgive him.

Deep, so deep in the Palafas Sea that light couldn't reach the bottom, Orion's eyes fell on a massive, glistening claw.

Gritting his teeth, he felt various emotions rupture through his heart.

"Velridar..."

But only an intense void filled his heart as he stared at the imposing corpse of an old friend.
