Chapter 246: The variations between timelines.

Henrietta managed to calm down before Orion and Elliott returned.

They both sat back on their seat without saying a word.

"Orion. Do you think we are on the right line? Are you..."

Amelia couldn't bring herself to finish her sentence. While Orion understood the meaning behind it he had no real answer to it.

"I don't know. There's no way to know for sure by this point."

As he shook his head, Henrietta sighed quietly.

"This situation is a first, even for me. We never made contact like this with you, and we never knew Elliott was a puppet for Miasma. If I had to think of the events that led to us discussing currently..."

Tetra nodded.

"That would be the void element. We've already talked about that before. So it never happened ever before?"

"Never. There's also the two artifacts you created for him. I never asked you to give them to you, so why?"

Tetra looked away slightly and whistled.

"It's a bit late to hide things at this point, don't you think?"

Henrietta crossed her arms and stared at her pink haired friend.

"...ure."

With a tiny voice, she spoke.

"Louder."

"I was ordered by Nature!"

Henrietta blinked a few times. Everyone looked at Tetra as if she had descended from outer space.

"I don't understand, Nature isn't supposed to remember events of the past. Maybe if the world had a will and was communicating with her..."

"That's probably it, don't you think?"

Tapping on the table periodically, Henrietta frowned.

"There's still a lot of details that we are oblivious to. Let's keep it at that for now."

Questions that wouldn't receive an answer was a common occurrence everywhere.

"What else? The healing ability?"

Tetra brought a third finger up.

"Without it, he wouldn't have been able to heal the corruption inside the various Lords now at his side."

Henrietta brought a fourth finger up.

"Talking about abilities, it once again brings the void element. Without it, he would have had less opportunities to prepare for the next fights. That time dilation effect was pretty incredible, and it's because of it that Kamala survived her encounter with the Lord of Kaios."

"That's a first to me. Kamala?"

Orion looked at Henrietta with a small bead of sweat dripping off of his forehead. He knew that asking this was followed by a hard truth.

"Yes. I have never seen her survive that fight. In fact, you were unable to do anything about that. But once again, the void element came in clutch. Tetra was shocked when you got above what she expected of the void element."

The woman in question nodded.

"I manage the 'Space' and 'Time' traits, so of course I was slightly interested in it. Through looking inside is soul long enough, and familiarizing myself with it, I understood how it worked. Yet, he managed to go beyond my own expectations."

"A power like yours should be centered around you, and you only. It is peculiar enough as it is, yet it cancels any magic that tries to enter the portal you create."

"Incredibly enough, you've sent the enemy's magic through 'Space' itself, and used it against him. Those portals of yours are wonders I would like to study if possible."

Tetra nodded with a smug smile on her face.

"Well, I don't mind that. You've told me everything you knew, so I'll agree to protect you two. I also don't want to hurt my relation with Amelia more than I did recently."

Orion glanced toward Amelia, the picture of his hand strangling her throat imprinted in his mind.

"Wait... Tetra, right? Your voice."

"You only realize now?"

With a quick laugh, Tetra stared directly inside Amelia's eyes, and used her inner voice like she did with Orion previously.

'Orion had pretty much the same reaction.'

"Ego?!"

She hurriedly stood up and stared in utter shock at the pink haired woman.

"Oh, that's right. I remembered something about you leading them. Was that also from Nature?"

To that, Tetra shook her head.

"It just sounded fun."

Making V-signs with her fingers, she blinked toward Henrietta.

"You and your stupid games. Still, I won't complain, since you've helped them quite a bit. But let's return to the previous discussion."

"Sure."

Everyone calmed down, and returned back on track.

"Well, from what mom told us earlier, we had almost no allies before, right?"

Amelia, after putting the fact that Tetra was Ego out of her mind, asked that question.

"Besides Amelia, and maybe Karteira, no one openly helped Orion as much as this time. If I'm not mistaken, the individuals I have never seen before were..."

"Nylon, May, Deveralna, Senia, and maybe Eric. Because only a handful of times did you manage to arrive at the southern border, only to die trampled by the stampede of corrupted beasts."

This felt incredibly strange to Orion. Henrietta was talking about situations he never went through. He only knew he managed to survive until now, so learning about potential deaths made it surreal.

"That reminds me, I heard there had been a giant corrupted beast appearing in the Frigoria Plains?"

Elliott asked out of nowhere, finally including himself in the conversation.

"There was one indeed. I don't know what that was, but it was pretty massive."

Orion looked at him and confirmed his question. Tetra took over after that.

"Enri and I talked about it before. The only explanation we had found was Orion and Velridar's encounter. The massive amount of magic, or the rumble caused by his roar caused either a giant to form or to awaken."

"Worst case scenario, there might be more than one."

Her expression showed how tense that made her.

"Don't consider a worst case scenario, it is. There are around thirty of these creatures frozen in those plains."

"..."

Everyone looked at Elliott with eyes wide open, even Henrietta.

"You've never asked, but our kingdom, and pretty much a lot of Triazils' inhabitants came from those plains. Before it became a frozen land, that is."

"Now that you bring it out, I kind of remember. Tetra and I were from the northern area, so we never really paid attention."

A silence that held no more than thirty seconds fell in the room before Elliott continued.

"After transforming into Miasma, what you call the Frigoria Plains became akin to his playground. This became the breeding ground of the corruption. Those giants were his most prized creations. But as his reign over the land displeased Nature so greatly, she decided to freeze the land and the corruption together."

"That didn't stop the place becoming a breeding ground for corrupted beasts though, as you saw each year. Even when I was walking this land manipulated, I had to fight these atrocious waves of powerful creatures."

Orion blinked a few times and looked at him.

"How big are the Frigoria Plains?"

"Almost as big as the unfrozen part of the continent."

For a breeding ground, this was maybe a little too much.

'No wonder that amount of beasts attacks every year.'

Internally nodding to himself, Orion glanced back toward Henrietta and Tetra.

"What can we do against them?"

"I'll deal with them personally. It's still my land, as much as Eogis is your land. I want it back."

"For your mother?"

Orion glanced sideways at him again.

"Exactly."

Elliott was pretty straightforward in the end, which Orion realized. He was similar to him in his way of thinking, since himself was moving and fighting for his parents.

"Alright. I won't bother worrying about you then."

"Very appreciative of you. Couldn't have ask for more sympathy."

Though, these two were still on bad terms, and there would probably be no way to bring them closer.

"We've been distracted again. We were talking about Velridar."

Henrietta cut in, seeing the tension between the two men. They immediately stopped their little clash, and focused on the conversation.

"I think that's pretty much it, no? I don't think anything else is worth mentioning."

While wracking her brains, Tetra came to the realization that this was everything.

"No, there's one big change that came from him encountering Velridar, and he's right with us."

Elliott pointed at himself while closing his eyes.

"That big change is definitely me. I never managed to break through Miasma's grasp, isn't it?"

"Never. I have never seen you sane. I am quite shocked honestly, to know that you weren't yourself all this time."

"No one would have known the truth had I never broke free."

Suddenly, he stood up.

"Well, I'm going now. This conversation was enough to understand everything. The pieces have formed the full picture, and I know what to do."

He walked behind Orion and stopped after passing his chair.

"Orion, you should check the north cape of Eogis. I don't know what fell there when I was sealed, but it might be something related to your parents. I'll go take a look at the one that fell in the Frigoria Plains for you."

Not waiting for his answer, he walked to the door and opened it.

"Oh, and before father decided to lock Eogis out of your reach might be good. I'm giving you a little warning, go there fast, or it will be too late. You should have..."

He closed the door behind him, but before it went completely shut.

"Ten days."

*Clack*

The door closed shut.

"..."

"That man is a real mystery. To think that he also possess the blood of a Valkyrie in his body. No wonder he is one of the strongest individual on this continent. Even Velridar could be in danger against him."

Henrietta scratched her brows while saying that, exhausted.

"Alright, let's stop the dreadful topics for no-"

Tetra was unable to finish her sentence.

"I can't believe it! You've been Ego all this time?!"

Amelia slammed her fist on the table. This time, the table broke in half when the cracks she created joined the one Orion formed when he slammed his fist previously.

*CRACK*

"Amelia... you might want to learn some self-control."

Said Henrietta, her mother. With a red blush over her cheeks, she looked down.

"Ha~"

Orion laughed, thinking of his mother.

"Don't mock me!"

Angry, Amelia stood up and tried to walk forward, but she tripped on a piece of the broken table.

"Hya-!"

Without hesitation, Orion caught her and gently embraced her body.

"W-Wait! What are you- Not now!"

*Whistle*

Tetra took the opportunity to cheer, while Henrietta gently smiled at them.

'I won't let the other failures get over my plans. I will make them happy, and to do that, I have to stay alive.'

With that in mind, Orion released Amelia before exiting the room.

"Mmm~ What was all of that?!"

Pouting, Amelia stomped her foot on the floor.

Smelling the large amount of 'Love' in the air, Tetra became slightly jealous.

'...'

While Orion was having that discussion, in Karteira's room.

"Sis, she's been like that for hours now. Can't we do something?"

"Don't bother her. It's rare to see her meditate on something."

Karteira was sitting on her bed in a cross-legged position. With her eyes closed, she was trying to find something she never had before.

The sisters were worried about her, so they decided to stay in the same room just in case.

"But..."

"Drania."

"Alright, alright, I get it. Don't look at me with those angry eyes."

They returned to look at Karteira silently.

Around the same time Orion finished his conversation with the Remnants, Karteira opened her eyes.

She removed her eyepatch, revealing a bright white eye that wasn't this color before. It was definitely blue previously.

"That's... magic?"

For the very first time in her life, she felt her magic circuit heat up. Her body was now one able to use magic, and not any kind of magic.

The light element's magic.
