"Beautiful, isn't it. I wasn't lying."
-
When Orion arrived at near the cliffs, he noticed the beach at the bottom. He warped to check if it was the right place.
The moment his sight settled on the crashing waves, his eyes reflected the scenery in front of him.
'Seeing it through a book doesn't make it justice.'
He felt at peace watching the thousands of hues shining through the seawater.
'This is beautiful. The only sad part is that millions of lives are sacrificed to make this scenery.'
It was written in the book Orion loved to read that mollusks capable of creating those pearls all came here for reproduction, with most of them ending up crashing against the rocky walls of the cliffs, releasing those pearls that came beaching themselves on the sand and in the shallows.
The beach itself had been transformed through all these years. The sand had mixed with the eroded pearls, creating a fine mix that lightly shined during the day. That mixed sand had shards of pearls littered all around, incomparable to the perfect pearl around a certain someone's neck.
It was rather rare to find a perfectly intact pearl like the one Amelia received as a gift, and the reasons for that were the fast erosion of the pearls, and the time the mollusks came to reproduce.
But, it didn't change the scenery in the slightest, and it was still far from being at its best.
'I'll bring her around sunset. This should be the best time to show her this incredible place.'
Orion smiled, thinking of Amelia's reaction. He enjoyed the view for a few minutes, and warped back to the woman in question.
-
"This."
Amelia looked at Orion with teary eyes, pointing at the sun setting in the distance, and at the water reflecting an orangey color while brightly sparkling from everywhere.
To her, this looked like the night sky had appeared in broad daylight. The water was sparkling, the wind was gentle, the waves were soothing, and she had no idea how to express her emotions.
With a smile rarely shared to others, as warm as his whole being could muster, he caressed her lustrous blonde hair.
"This is what I promised you. What do you think, was it worth it?"
Tears began to gently travel down her cheeks. She grabbed the hand caressing her and pressed it against her cheek.
"Yes. Yes, it was worth it!"
After exchanging an intense gaze with him, she closed her eyes, enjoying the sounds around her, and the heat of her beloved's hand.
"At first, I was worried. There was so many things I wanted us to do, but the time was always against us. Since the day you saved my life from my own powers, I knew I wouldn't be enjoying the same life as everyone else."
"Our time in Auro was fulfilling. We've lived together for three years, and even though there was no real progress, I learned that you loved me. Only when we walked out of that town, did I start to question how serious you were."
"I kept asking myself, 'Is he going to rush to his death alone, leaving me behind?' It was very difficult to seriously love you, but I kept my hopes up that maybe you kept yourself out of harm because of me, because I was there to support you."
"And I don't regret it. I never will. When we arrived in the fairy realm, I noticed how tired you were, and I might have used it to get a few answers out of you, but you've removed all of the doubts I had."
"All those letters you kept, those memories I thought you never cared about, you proved me wrong. My love wasn't just a fleeting feeling that would vanish with you, it was real, strong, and unshakable."
"You might be obsessed with training as much as I am obsessed with cooking for you, but I know that you always come back to me, whatever happens."
The tears stopped flowing as she opened her eyes. Her gaze met Orion's, and her next words naturally flowed through her mouth.
"I swear to you, I won't let anything happen to you anymore. I will not remain at the back, hoping for you to come back. I will always stand by your side, even in the toughest of trials."
"You have my words."
At that moment, she was the most beautiful she ever was to Orion. He was charmed, Silka's sigil violently blinking in his eye.
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
Those words were the words he told himself constantly. That he would always remain by her side, through thick and thin, until the very end.
"Thank you, Amelia."
He pulled his hand, and Amelia with it. He tightly hugged her waist while holding his emotions as much as possible.
"Even if our meeting was brought by your mother, that it was a forced fate, I am thankful that you stayed with me even though I am like this."
With her hands on his chest, she clenched them into a fist.
"I don't care about fate. My feelings for you were never created to begin with. If they were, I wouldn't be falling in love with you more and more each moment we live together."
"True."
Under the rays of the setting sun, they hugged each other for a few minutes in silence.
Something in them finally settled. Their love now in full display to each other, something awakened in them.
For Orion, it was a new power. For Amelia, it was the second gift she received.
They broke apart, noticing the changes in them. Orion felt his both of his legs and arms burn. He knew this feeling, and it hadn't returned since the battle against Julian.
Orion unlocked the Fourth Gear, and the full potential in his arms. His body emitted a gentle warmth different to the previous releases.
His body, who had been tempered through constant trials, and who was now able to switch from his current form and his angel and demon forms, was strong enough to endure the feedback.
While he was feeling the changes, Amelia pressed her right hand against her chest and closed her eyes. A strange pulse echoed in her soul, alongside the elements inside it.
She entered her own soul with ease, and observed the beating sphere above the others. The void element was growing.
Amelia wondered why she couldn't use the void element yet, while both Karteira and Olivia could from the very start. It simply needed a little push. With her feelings completely set on following Orion to the end of the world, she obtained the right to wield the shy element.
The shell that was around the orb began to crack. Suddenly, the shell cracked open, spreading its content inside her soul.
Feeling the element spreading around wasn't comfortable, but it wasn't bothering either. Her soul transformed to something similar to the night sky. Compared to Horizon who had a day/night cycle with bright white or dark stars, her soul remained in the darkness.
But the sparkly white stars were new. The cracked sphere disintegrated, leaving Amelia to work controlling that new magic from now on.
When she opened her eyes, she noticed Orion looking in the distance, at the sun.
His face was relaxed, and he was smiling. His eyes were reflecting the scenery, and Amelia could see every details through them.
'I really love this man. I though love had a limit. I though you could never love someone more than yourself, that it would only diminish with time.'
'Yet, why the more I spend time with him, I keep feeling my heart beating faster? I don't want to ever lose that feeling.'
She took a step forward, clasping her hands together near her chest.
"Hmm?"
Orion turned his face with an alluring smile. This was it for Amelia, she couldn't hold back anymore.
"I'm sorry, I love you way too much."
With one more step, she brought her face closer to his, and pressed her lips against Orion's.
...
They both ended up gasping for air after kissing for more than five minutes.
After recovering their breath, they sat on the sand.
'I knew it, she's way too wild.'
Orion said to himself while laughing slightly.
"Why are you laughing? Am I bad or something? Don't tell me, I have chapped lips?!"
She rapidly touched her lips to confirm.
"No, of course not. Why would you even think that?"
"Oh... no reason. If it's not that, then it's fine."
'She's cute.'
But Orion was done.
"Let's end our little moment here. We need to look around before the day ends."
He stood up, and helped Amelia. After that, he wiped the sand off of his jeans.
"Already?"
Disappointed, she dropped her shoulders.
"Time is sadly still going forward. We can't stay here all night either, what if you were to catch a cold?"
"I guess you're right."
Having recovered her good mood, she joined him.
"So, what are we looking for? The place is quite huge."
Now that she took the time to look around, the beach was going far into the west part of the cliffs. They were at the very end of it. After this point, the sea was back to normal again, and the sand was back to its yellow color.
"I don't know what to expect either, but first, we'll go to that arch other there."
Orion pointed his finger to a rocky formation in the distance. The rocky arch extended into the ocean, over the sand itself. It was a good idea to cheek if something was around that area.
"Alright. You wanna race?"
"No. I'll win anyways."
"Cheater."
As they both joked around in their search for the mysterious item that crashed, they arrived at the rock formation.
"There's nothing here."
Making a conclusion on what she saw so far, Amelia said.
"Let me have a look from above."
With a quick warp, Orion settled on top of the arch. He looked along the shorelines, without noticing as much as a weird spot.
'Hmm. Maybe it's in the se- !'
His head suddenly began to hurt, and a vision suddenly appeared in his mind.
-
A bright light descended upon this area.
It arched and crashed into the cliffs, leaving a huge cloud of dust behind it.
-
He warped back down while trying to appease the pain.
"Are you alright?"
"I'm fine, but I think I know were to go."
Looking further in the distance, he looked at the cliffs.
"That place, where the cliffs are continuing north. At its tip, it seems like it crashed."
"Then let's go."
They hurriedly followed the coastline, and arrived at the supposed crashing site.
"Orion! There's a cave right there. There are a lot of crystals too!"
"You're right! This might be the place."
Sounding a little excited, Orion wasn't ready for what he was about to find.
He entered the cave. In the middle of it was a massive crystal, being three meters high and two meters wide.
"A crystal? There's nothing else?"
"There doesn't seem to be anything inside, and it's too opaque to make anything of it either."
Giving it a little tap, only the sound of glass echoed.
"Is it just a magic formation?"
Disappointment could be heard in is voice. But as the sun giving his place to the night, the crystals began to emit a faint blue light.
Orion and Amelia looked at the big crystal when it cleared up, revealing something sealed inside of it.
"W-Wait... that's... impossible!"
"Orion! I'm seeing it too!"
He dragged his feet to the crystal and placed his hand on it.
"How is that possible..."
"How could something remains of my mother?"
Inside of the crystal was the resting body of Orianne, his mother.
