Before Remnants began to populate Triazils with their children.
Humans and beastmen were the first 'creatures' to appear on the continent. Where did they came from, no one knew, even them.
It was already lost to history by this point. In the grand scheme of things, this could have been a century after, or more.
One day, a certain man entered a kingdom of human. His name was Blanc.
The man named Blanc was traveling the world in search of something extremely pure. It didn't matter if it was a person, or an object. It simply had to be beautiful in his eyes.
Be it pristine rocks, a specific scenery, or a person's way of life, he wanted to see everything.
He entered this kingdom as one of his next stop, and stayed for a few days, searching for one pure item. But alas, he never found one.
Beginning to lose hope, as he witnessed less and less pure things in the world, he wondered what had gone wrong.
But, during his walk around the city, his eyes fell on the most purest entity he had ever seen. 'She' walked past in front of him, leading a platoon of soldiers outside of the entrance gate, to fight the neighboring army of beastmen invading their land.
Blanc was a man capable of making himself unnoticeable. He used his ability to hide and followed the platoon, knowing full well that he wasn't a warrior himself.
It was at this moment, during the clash, that he observed the might, the raw strength, and the beauty of certain knight.
'She', was akin to an divine being on the battlefield. Plunging alone in the midst of her enemies, a sword and a shield in hands, she ravaged the other side by herself, leaving the other soldiers in the dust.
Her power and wits were unmatched on the battlefield, as she took the head of the enemy's commander in no time, signaling the end of the battle.
But Blanc realized that her purity was still immaculate, even with her hands and clothes stained by blood.
What was that woman's thinking? What made her so 'pure' even on the battlefield? Questions after questions relentlessly bothered him.
Returning to the kingdom in silence with those questions, he began to only think about her.
Blanc knew nothing of the woman. It was the first time he saw her, and never before did his interest peaked so much toward a person.
Her name. This became his goal. He searched around the city for a way to learn her name. It was his first endeavor.
It didn't take long. He was a rather friendly man, who wasn't afraid to ask anyone. Maybe because of his inconspicuous appearance, people quickly opened up to him.
The maiden's name was Frey. She was a being known as a 'Valkyrie', warriors miraculously birthed with a power to rule over the battlefield.
Blanc never knew. In every human cities he traveled to, there was a Valkyrie guarding it. This was the humans way of fighting back against the powerful and wild beastmen.
Frey. Her name continued to flash in his mind. His next goal was to find someone who would tell him how he could either find her, or be introduced to her.
But this became the most difficult task.
He searched everywhere, entered every shops, asked everyone he made eye contact with, even tried the soldiers' barracks, no luck.
The man was beginning to lose hope. The woman was a secret to everyone. It wasn't that they hide information from him, it was that Frey herself was a mystery to them.
When the time to fight arrived, she appeared at the castle. When peace reigned, she was like a ghost. It was to wonder how she was able to live without buying her own food.
But during one of his search, a very mundane, plain looking woman walked past him. She instantly caught his eyes, as he recognized that purity. There was no doubt about it, it was Frey in disguise.
Yet, Blanc remained still. How could he approach the woman without startling her, or avoid having her to reveal her true identity in public? If she was hiding, it was because she didn't want to attract any unwanted attraction.
Only a brute would try to force his way in a woman's life.

As he pondered, she distanced herself, unknowing of the man's trouble. Just then, a little accessory fell from her hand. It rolled to Blanc's feet without her noticing where it went.
A panicked expression on her face, she began to frantically search for it.
The appearance of a middle aged dark hair woman began to change to Frey's silver hair and youthful appearance.
In hurry, Blanc picked up the ring like accessory, and rushed to the woman. He grabbed her hand, forced her to open it, and placed the item back in her possession.
He swiped his brows from the sudden stressful event, and turned around, completely forgetting that she was right in front of him.
But Frey wouldn't let that slide. This man knew who she was, and it was a rather terrible gamble than to hope for his discretion.
Why would she risk being found out by more people?
So, she grabbed the man's shoulder with her right hand, and dragged him out of the city.
At first, Blanc was confused, but while being dragged, he began to think, arms crossed.
The only reason he could think of was that he offended her somehow, and that she was about to deal with him.
While thinking that it was the way of life, she finally stopped somewhere far away from the city's front gate, in a small glade, away from prying eyes.
Immediately, she bowed to him. She apologized for the rough treatment, and even thanked him for helping her getting her ring back.
Blanc was baffled. She was the definition of a courteous and grateful person. She wasn't the tough person he was expecting.
Anxiously, he asked if she was truly Frey, the Valkyrie.
Timidly, the woman removed the ring from her finger and placed it on a tree stump next to her. Her true beauty revealed, she began to fidget in front of him.
Honestly, Blanc was completely lost. This person in front of him was completely different to the woman with a stern expression he watched fighting before.
She was... beautiful. Way more dazzling than he hoped. At this point, a new emotion emerged in his heart, unknowing to him.
But this was only the beginning of his struggle. Now that Frey was there, he had to look for the reason of her purity.
So, his work continued. With the shy but cooperating Frey, he began to ask her questions. Simple questions that anyone would ask.
Was it alright for him to talk to her? Of course, she had no problem with it.
Why was she hiding her true self? Because she didn't like the gaze of idolatry coming from the people.
What was a Valkyrie? She had no real answer, this was a power that was there the moment she was born.
...
What was supposed to be close to an interrogation became a conversation. Frey opened up to Blanc, and explained everything about her.
While he was happy she trusted him, he felt that she was a bit too naive. But this was were he was wrong.
The poor woman had fell deeply in love with him. It could be called 'love at first sight'. Blanc was the first to find her true identity after twenty years of hiding through the artifact.
He was a charming man, the complete opposite of a boorish man, which she hated, and physically, he was definitely her type.
His slightly unkempt white hair, not too long, not too short. His dark eyes hiding a secret only him knew. And that smile that always made her feel welcomed.
Frey saw many types of men during her duty as a Valkyrie, yet, this man was a complete breath of fresh air. He never idolized her either.
In his eyes, she was but a simple woman, not the 'Valkyrie' Frey. Only she didn't knew that he had his eyes on her simply because of the 'purity' she held in her heart.
The day came to an end. Frey put the ring back on her hand, and with Blanc, returned to the city.
She was supposed to by some groceries for herself, which she completely forgot after meeting Blanc.
Since it was his fault that she missed the time to buy her food, he invited her to dine with him at the inn he stayed at.
Disguised as the middle aged woman, she agreed. They ate a good meal, they drunk a fair amount, discussed more about various subjects, and before he knew it, it was morning.
Blanc opened his eyes, and realized that Frey was in bed with him. He placed his hands on his face, before looking again at the beautiful grey haired woman.
From this point onward, his life completely changed. Never in his life have he slept with a woman.
What shocked him was the explosion of purity emanating from the woman after that. She was so blinding that Blanc swore to one day learn about it completely, and for that, he had to stay by her side.
At no point did he felt forced to stay with her. Because he never realized himself that he fell in love with her too, he was a little awkward at first, but Frey loved him even more.
Frey continued her duties as a Valkyrie, while Blanc stayed in the kingdom permanently. He began to work as a barman. Why a barman? Because it was easier to talk to strangers. He could still learn about beautiful sights, and see various people coming from other cities.
He still managed to see various people with a fair amount of purity as time went by, but none were as bright as his now wife Frey.
The duties of a Valkyrie were bothering her a lot, but she had now one refuge. Almost every night, when she wasn't out of town, she returned to Blanc. Their life was stable like this, and no one ever noticed a thing.
Both got married at some point, in the greatest of discretion possible. Blanc realized his own feelings at one point and without hesitation, vowed to give his life to her.
On the battlefield, before and after, she never hid her wedding ring, which led many people to question who was the lucky man. Yet, out of respect for her, they never asked.
The same happened for Blanc. After he became a part of the city, no one managed to see his wife. Only rumors about him being married to Frey emerged, with no answers ever coming out.
A few years later, Frey gave birth to the pride of her life. A baby boy with blonde hair. It was rather strange coming from parents with white and grey hairs, but he had the features of both his father and mother, so they ignored it.
The child stayed with his mother most of the time. While growing up, he learned everything related to the sword. He learned the skills of his mother Frey, and inherited everything she had to give.
While he stayed with his father at the bar, he learned everything related to scholarship. The knowledge he acquired made him one of the smartest people alive on this continent, passing even his own father Blanc.
Life was perfect for the family. Even though Frey had her duties, she still managed to find time to see Blanc. They couldn't stay long together, sometimes only the night, but they were happy.
But...
Every happy story has to end.
