Chapter 249: A third contendant for his affection.

"..."

Stella pushed the door open and entered, followed by Sirius.

The two were inseparable nowadays.

She closed the door and carefully walked toward the bed.

"Is he asleep?"

She asked softly while observing Orion.

Orion was laying on the bed, his breathing being slow, showing that he was indeed asleep.

The little girl stopped for a second. The memory of him laying injured in bed and the one currently sleeping overlapped.

It made her incredibly anxious, showed by her biting her lower lips unconsciously.

Sirius also seemed bothered by something. His tail wasn't wagging like usual.

But they didn't want to bother him. If he was sleeping, then they would come back later.

That was Stella's thought. Yet, her feet refused to move. Instead, she climbed into the bed. Sirius also climbed into the bed, without bothering Orion.

Stella snuggled against his left arm, and closed her eyes.

"Warm."

The difference between the cold hand she previously held, and the warmth his body currently emitted reassured her. She smiled, and fell asleep like this.

Sirius turned around a few times near his right side, and curled up next to his right thigh.

He heaved a sight of relief, and quickly joined Stella, falling asleep.

"..."

Orion opened his left eye slightly, and looked at the two intruders invading his bed.

'...'

Without much thinking, he returned to sleep.

"An Agathion. That's what he chosed to call himself, right?"

Orianne and Reon were discussing together about what had happened so far. Things that stayed in their mind.

"Yes. There might be a meaning to it only Orion knows. I have no idea when he chose that name. Yet, it has a very nice ring to it."

She nodded.

"It does. He sure has a good naming taste. Horizon, Sirius, Stella, and now Agathion. He keeps giving great names here and there."

Reon also nodded. Though, he quickly changed topics.

"Are we going to talk about that woman, Olivia? Or do you want to ignore it?"

While making a hard face, Orianne replied.

"Who would have expected that some demons were planning to flee their duties and merge with humans. Though, I can't blame them."

After saying that she showed hesitation, before shaking her head.

"No, I guess I should be happy some of us managed to survive. We've lost almost everyone at that time. What about the angels?"

Reon also shook his head.

"Sadly, all angels were accounted for. Everyone sacrificed their lives in hope of protecting their home."

They both gazed in the distance together.

"The Remnants..."

Orianne started the next conversation, feeling the melancholy slowly taking over her emotions.

"What about them? Tia-Norun and Enri-Ann wasn't it?"

"Yes. They both were pretty important people. First of all, it was that woman who gave us the forbidden magic. That in itself is hard to believe."

Reon agreed.

"They had a hand in things we had no ideas about, even when they hid themselves. How many of what we've went through was the Remnant of Destiny's doing? I can't wrap my finger around it at all. It's quite alienating to be honest."

A short silence fell after that.

"She said she wasn't that powerful, so maybe she can only affect small things, but not change a path that was made to exist to begin with. Like our defeat."

With a frustrated expression, Orianne began to tap on the table with her fingers.

"That's possible, like the Remnant of Time losing her life each time she needed to return to the past. They might not be Almighty Beings like we originally though."

That was what Reon came to believe after seeing Tiohr-nam, Velridar, and Silka's cases. If they are alive, they can be brought down.

The conversation went on until they had nothing important to discuss about. Orion was sleeping with Stella and Sirius, so there was not much to do besides talking.

Until one topic naturally came up. Amelia's identity.

"So Amelia was the daughter of a Remnant. That was pretty much unexpected. That woman said something about birthing her just for her to assist Orion in his revenge."

While Orianne was perplexed about the whole thing, she wasn't particularly bothered by it.

"She's more than just a Remnant's daughter. If Orion trust her, and treasure her, then who cares. It's not like she was there to manipulate him or hurt him. If she was born to help our son, then we should be grateful. She proved herself to be quite strong anyways."

Really, she didn't care about Amelia being a Remnant's child.

"Before Orion was born, I remember you saying that you would never allow a single woman approaching him ever. What happened to you?"

With a mocking smile on his face, Reon reminded her of that fact.

"Was I wrong? Look at that Olivia! Demons are thirsty people that don't care about appearance when they fall in love. I never felt it because I fell in love with you, an angel, but what she showed us is how us demons behave. I don't want that for my son!"

She made an little screeching noise and grabbed her head with both hands while saying that.

"And those angels, I remember the looks in their faces when they saw you! Those gazes were obviously from carnivorous women! As if I would have accepted a woman that could jump at you and my son!"

*sigh*

Reon emitted a long sigh while shaking his head.

"I have no idea why you think like that. I was a nobody before, I had no one interested enough to ask me out. And even if that was the case, they missed their chances once I've noticed you. If these woman were interested in my status, then they missed the mark completely from the beginning."

"And our son isn't that dumb. If he accepted Olivia, then its probably not because she's a demon. Or maybe it is? He still has demon blood in his vain. Though, she definitely is a beautiful girl, and she knows what she wants."

Crossing her arms in an exaggerated manner, Orianne turned her face away.

"Pff~ I knew demons were terrible."

With a quiet laugh, Reon remembered the girl.

"She simply took her chances. I think she fell in love with him at first sight just like you and me, taking the very first chance she got to make her point come across. She was ready to reveal her identity, so I'm sure she thought a lot on it."

Orianne nodded with a small smile, thinking on her first memory of Reon.

"They might not have a lot of time on their hands, that's why she chose to tell him everything. But you might be right about the 'thirsty' part. That kiss was... quite something."

They both saw it through the screen at that time. He remembered Orianne screaming when she saw Olivia's demon form, and a second time when she stole a kiss from Orion.

"Haha~"

"Why are laughing?"

"I just remembered how cute you can be sometimes."

"Hmm~"

With a pout, she looked away. Yet, a second later, she stood up and sat next to him, hugging his right arm.

'Like I said. Cute.'

~

Three woman were sitting together after Orion went to sleep. They were inside Olivia's work place.

"I'll make myself clear now that we have a bit of time..."

Amelia crossed her legs, sitting in front of the desk. Karteira was next to her, and Olivia was looking through the window.

"You hate my guts for kissing Orion out of nowhere, and you want to tell me to avoid seeing him anymore? That's why you came to see me, isn't it?"

While saying that, Olivia clenched her fists. She knew it wouldn't be easy to be by his side.

"Eh? No, not really."

"Huh?"

Amelia and Olivia stared at each other with nothing but confusion in their eyes.

"Wait, what? I thought you were against the idea, isn't that why you kept glaring at me all morning?"

Both Amelia and Karteira shook their heads.

"It's the fact that you could've stole his first kiss that infuriated us. That and the fact that you got the dark element from him."

Karteira said with a neutral expression.

"We don't hate you, and we certainly won't say that you can't see Orion. What kind of monsters would that make us, right?"

After saying that, Amelia immediately looked at Karteira.

"We know five other women who are attracted to him. If we wanted to, we would have already crushed their feelings. It's because we've accepted the fact that Orion can love everyone equally."

"I'm already an intruder in their relationship. What right do I have to bother your love? I would say something if you weren't in love with him, but..."

With a single glance a few moments ago, Karteira understood her true feelings on that matter.

"You were ready to fight for him, am I wrong?"

Olivia looked surprised, but she silently agreed with a nod.

"Though I won't refuse a fight, I would suggest not making Amelia your enemy. It's not easy, but make her angry, and she can be quite scary."

"I'm not that scary! And I'm never angry. Well..."

The only time she could remember herself getting so angry it became rage was against Kelvin, and she ended up killing him.

"I might have killed someone... yes."

Both Olivia and Karteira's faces turned blue.

"But I won't kill friends! You can trust me on that!"

While waving both hands after looking at their expressions, she tried her best to make them forget about that little slip up.

Exaggerating a cough, she made Olivia focus back on the conversation.

"Well, if that's alright with you two."

Olivia looked once again outside.

"But why Orion of all people?"

This was something Karteira had on her mind, so she asked anyways.

"It's rather simple. There are two reasons for that."

Her body began to darken, before her demonic traits appeared in full view again. The other two looked in shock knowing that she was a demon.

Orion 'might' have forgotten to tell them she was a demon.

"The first reason is because a demon easily falls in love with another demon. It's a big deal in fact, as it was a guaranteed love at first sight, since demons are extinct, and only me and Orion have their blood in us."

"The other reason is a little bit weird I guess. This continent have been ruled for many centuries by powerful humans. Corrupted humans that slowly changed to make rules bend to their will."

"There have been no changes so far. No one tried to rebel, no one tried to judge them. Even though we have multiple 'Saviors', they never seemed to act aggressively, maybe in fear of having their faction destroyed. Even the dragons remained quiet until the Dragon's Rampage twenty years ago."

Her pointy demon tail in the shape of a crescent moon curled up like a spring.

"So when I've noticed someone finally doing something against the rot walking among good people, I simply... wanted to assist him."

"What made it greater in my opinion was that he killed the man that was probably going to assault me later on. How could I ignore that?"

They both felt like Olivia was similar to them. It was because Orion saved them from a difficult situation, and helped them better themselves that they chose to follow him.

"There's no one else like him, isn't it? He had the choice to flee multiple times, but he always chose to fight head on."

Amelia agreed with her.

"But he's only one man. He can't save everything by himself. He needs us."

Karteira followed up after.

"I'll be in your care."

Olivia bowed slightly toward them.

After that, the three talked, learning more about each other.

When the sun was about to set, Orion opened his eyes.
