Chapter 235: A light extinguished.

Chapter 235: A light extinguished.

Olivia caught the 'lights' falling from the sky with her net, and made them fall back to the ground, back into Noctelagia.

The moment she felt the hexagonal protection touching her magic, she felt something, or someone so powerful it made her shiver, while also feeling a more chaotic but familiar magic.

But nonetheless, she decided to have a look for herself as to who those people she caught were.

In utter disbelief, she looked in the net, and began to panic. Inside of it were two people she would have never expected to see together.

There was four people in the net, Amelia and Karteira who were trying to force the shield open with their fist to get to Orion, Orion himself who was in a critical state between life and death, and Elliott, who was less than please to see Orion still in that berserk state.

"What happened!"

As the net dropped down, she dropped of her water steps down to the ground, and hurried to them.

The girls turned their head to her, while crying.

"Help Orion! Do something, please! Anything!"

Elliott glanced at her before looking at Orion again.

"Olivia Lakis."

"Lord Elliott! So it was you?"

A little hostility in her voice, she glared at him.

"I don't think we have time to stand there idly. Could you find a room for this man? As you see, he's gravely injured, by my hands."

While this sounded completely messed up and confusing as to why someone like Elliott was acting this way toward anyone, she still nodded.

"Good. Hurry up."

He snapped his fingers, making the shield exploded in pieces.

"Orion!"

Both girls ran to Orion the moment it broke, lifted his upper body carefully, and looked at his wounds.

"Answer us! Orion! Return to us!"

Olivia glared at Elliott for a second, which he ignored by closing his eyes.

'Fine, I'll ignore you for now. I don't have time to even try dealing with him. I have to save that man.'

As she approached the injured Orion, a sort of floating apparatus similar to a stretcher made of water appeared next her.

She made a quick movement with her fingers, leading the water under Orion, before lifting him gently.

"Follow me inside."

They hurriedly followed after Olivia inside the castle of Noctelagia, until she brought everyone to a secured room for Orion to heal in.

~

In the fairy realm, when Orion's last battle began.

"Hmm? Hmm?!"

"Tiohr? Why are you making such a face?"

Tiohr-nam had returned to her realm for a bit as she had to use her true form to manipulate the soul of the dead Remnant Silka, and help him reincarnate.

But as she was doing that, she felt something in the soul of a man she formed a connection with in the past. Something that made her drop what she was doing, and focused on something else altogether.

Noticing the sudden panic on her face, Drania jokingly pointed it out.

"Girls! Hurry outside! Orion is about to do something stupid!"

Dramia stared at the Tree of Life's Avatar with a perplexed gaze.

"That's nothing new. Do we really have to help him?"

"This time is... different. If possible, I would have loved for him to wait a year or two before this would happen, but he forcefully brought his racial features out, and his about to set his soul ablaze. He's pumping magic at an awful pace, and I have the feeling I know why this happened."

She closed her eyes while worry began to fill the sisters. They stood up and hurriedly walked to the portal leading to Horizon.

"This place... Eogis? Between Eogis and Triazils. And the one he is fighting is... Elliott!"

"!"

The three understood immediately. As they were stuck inside the fairy realm for a long time without seeing Orion, they had completely forgot about the decisive battle he had to fight.

"Sis, we don't have time then!"

"Yes, let's hurry. Tiohr, what can you do?"

The Avatar nodded.

"I can support his soul and avoid its complete destruction, but not for long. At most a week."

"Do what you can. We're going!"

They both turned around and walked into the portal leaving Tiohr-nam alone while she dealt with life itself so that Orion remained alive.

'I won't let you die that easily!'

She closed her eyes and followed the threads of magic connecting her soul to Orion's and watched as it horribly began to distort in various ways.

'What is he doing for this to happen? If it was a normal person, their soul would have already broken down!'

His magical circuit was burning, close to breaking down too. The more time passed, the worst it got. Until a shining light pierced his body, and soul together.

The blade entered his body, and forced everything to calm down, as if it requested order to return. But two spheres in his soul refused to comply. His light and dark elements, still in their berserk state, wildly rotated around the light to try and make it vanish.

The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.

'What am I even seeing?! That blade, what is it trying to do?!'

Tiohr-nam understood that Orion had been defeated. And from the looks of it, it wasn't showing any signs of destroying Orion's soul, on the contrary. It was trying to soothe the chaos.

But the moment the blade left his soul, everything shut down. Orion's soul entered a stasis. Everything remained still, quiet, and dark. His elements stopped moving and darkened as if their were shut down too.

Darkness, that was all that remained.

'...'

'We were too late.'

Tiohr-nam opened her eyes as tears made of the Tree of Life's sap began to pour from the Avatar.

'I'll try to keep his soul alive, but there's nothing else we can do.'

'Orion's soul... has definitely and irreversibly broken down.'

The sisters hurriedly walked out of the portal.

"Sis, the portal to the dragons is next to ours!"

"Yes, let's take this portal."

When they stepped out of the portal, many familiar faces noticed them, grouped together not far from them.

"The fairy sisters? What are you doing here?"

Florian was the first to notice them, as he adjusted his glasses.

Both Dramia and Drania looked shocked at the amount of people waiting near them.

"What are you all doing here?"

Florian, Kamala, Eric, May, Deveralna, Nylon, Senia, and even the little Stella on Sirius' broad back were there.

"We felt something incredibly powerful being released a few days ago and came to see if Orion was here, but neither him or the girls are here."

Kamala said, worried. She was standing her arms crossed while tightly grabbing her clothes.

"For some reason, all portals to Horizon closed down until just a minute ago, so we could only enter now."

Eric looked at May, who nodded to his words.

"I've also felt the need to see Orion when I felt that ominous pillar rise to the sky. But he's nowhere to be seen and even went as far as to not notice us."

Deveralna trembled slightly when she remembered the awful feeling coming from it, and the pressure released by the seal shattering.

"I'm supposed to be his brother, but he also kept it from me. Dad wasn't pleased either."

Nylon glared dangerously in the air, but he was simply frustrated.

"..."

Senia remained silent, as she thought that she was definitely out of place.

"Siren lady."

Stella grabbed her hand and looked at Senia with a worried expression on her face.

"Aah! Have I made you worried?"

She caressed the little girl's hair gently, and smiled.

"I don't have a good reason like everyone. I had that hazy feeling in my heart that wouldn't leave me, so I went to check on Orion myself after not seeing him for days."

They all looked at the siren, understanding her pain.

"Orion..."

They all looked in frustration and worry.

"We're going to him right now. If you want to follow, you will have to persuade the dragons to help you."

Dramia said before entering the dragons' den portal.

"We really don't have time, Orion is fighting at this very moment, so hurry up."

Adding to her sister's words, Drania followed behind her and vanished into the portal.

"I won't survive long without water... but I still want to help Orion. I'll go too!"

Senia made up her mind, following after the sisters. She scraped her scales on the white ground as everyone stared at her.

"Me too."

May walked forward without hesitation, and picked up Senia like a princess.

"I'll help."

"Thank you."

"Everyone, let's go."

Eric spoke like a true Lord, as they all nodded.

But Kamala and Florian stopped before following Eric and Nylon.

"Stella, are you sure you want to come?"

"..."

She grabbed Sirius' hair tightly.

"I-I don't want to be alone."

Being used to the kindness she was subjected to, it would be strange otherwise.

"Fine, Florian and I will protect you. Come with us."

Florian nodded. He saved the girl in the past, he could do it again.

The team of Orion's closest friends and his family left Horizon determined to save him.

"We were also planning on going to Orion. Though, most of us are scared."

"Only Monolavir and I will move out."

The sisters entered the Dragon's Den, and explained why they suddenly appeared to the most powerful dragons, who also identified as Orion's friends.

"That's fine. We don't know what is ahead of us anyways."

Dramia nodded.

The sound of people warping echoed in the cave.

"That's a lot of people coming in our home uninvited."

A long growling noise left Monolavir's mouth as he saw the people coming.

'I'll intimidate them a bit, but if they came from Orion's place, they might be friends. I also notice two familiar faces.'

He quickly noticed Florian and Eric. Both were warriors he acknowledged in the past. Florian was also trying to bridge the gap between humans and dragons, though, thanks to his recent expedition, wasn't able to do much on that front.

"So you've decided to follow."

Dramia glanced at them over her shoulder.

"The Azur Dragon in the flesh."

Kamala opened he eyes wide, while Nylon felt tiny in front of him, but was truly in awe in front of its might.

"Wai-"

Senia noticed Stella walking past them and tried to stop her, but as she was held by May, she missed her.

With Sirius at her side, she walked past the sisters and stopped in front of Monolavir.

"P-Please. Can you help us see him?"

Monolavir dropped his head low and growled.

"He's asking for a reason."

Dramia translated for them.

"A reason?"

His reptilian blue eyes gazed deep into the little girl's dark eyes. She looked a little lost, as she was terrified of the big dragon, but she tightly grabbed her pink dress that stopped at her ankles, and looked down.

"I-I want Orion, and Amelia, and Karteira back. I want to eat with them again. I don't want to be left alone again."

"I want him to hug me again! I want to talk more with him! I'll do anything!"

A small light began to cover Monolavir and Ruminona's wings.

Both dragons turned to look at their wings, before they looked at Stella with interest.

*Growl*

"That's enough for him."

The next to translate was Drania.

"Hmm... big dragon."

Monolavir dropped his nose in front of Stella, and listened.

"Can you use water magic?"

"Why would you need water?"

Drania was literally translating compared to Dramia.

"O-One of us can't survive for long out of the water."

Surprised, Monolavir scanned the people being Stella and the sisters. His eyes fell on a fish like woman.

Magic focuses around him, as a sphere of water the size of a human being appeared in front of Senia. It enveloped her body in a thin layer of water that constantly hydrated her body.

"Thank you big dragon!"

Stella ran to Monolavir and hugged his nose.

The great Azur Dragon looked mostly unfazed to the untrained eyes, but for Ruminona, he was smiling.

"Mono, we don't have the leisure to stay for long. Let's move out now."

"True."

Ruminona had to break this little moment, as every seconds were precious at the moment now that many people were worried about Orion, and that even the Tree of Life herself became worried.

A bubble formed around the group at the back, around the sisters, and around Stella and Sirius.

Monolavir stood tall in front of them. He sat on his hind legs, and opened his front arms. The three bubbles slowly drifted toward him, and all merged together in his hands.

"Time to move."

Him and Ruminona flapped their wings effortlessly, which was a new experience to them.

'Is that the little girl's power? That didn't seem voluntary.'

They both left their cave with everyone, and quickly flew out of the den.

"This way."

Dramia pointed at Eogis in the distance.

*BOOM*

But it was too late. A large explosion echoed faintly, as they noticed a large cloud of dust far away, and four light fly south.

"Monolavir..."

"Yes."

Dramia and Monolavir understood the meaning of this.

"We couldn't make it in time."

Everyone looked at the massive crater that appeared once the dust settled. The four lights were going straight for the Carmel Sea.

With a defeated expression, they all lost their will to continue.

"Orion probably lost."

Dramia crouched inside the bubble and hugged her knees while hiding her face away. Drania brought her hands to her face and did her best not to cry.

Kamala looked under her at the scenery while not being able to enjoy it. Florian was trying to divert his mind by wiping his glasses clean, but his expression betrayed his thoughts.

Eric slammed his fist together while gritting his teeth. Nylon remained emotionless, not knowing how to process his feelings.

May's tears fell into the water enveloping Senia, while Senia's own tears merged with the water around her.

Deveralna coiled her tail around herself and hugged it tightly, yet she was the one with the most hope in the group. She believed Orion was still alive.

Monolavir and Ruminona significantly dropped the speed of their flight in response.

Only two people had not lost hope yet.

'Orion. Amelia. Karteira.'

Little Stella, and Sirius looked at the massive net of water caught over Noctelagia.

"Big dragon, go over there."

As he looked at the place pointed by the little girl, he noticed the net too.

Him and Ruminona switched their target, and as they flew over the continent, they arrived at Noctelagia at the end of the day.
