When Orion looked at the vortex, an inescapable sighed left his mouth.
'If you think I will deal with it after coming back.'
He turned around and instantly warped back to his home.
'I've had a very pleasant day going out with the twins. I won't let anything bother my evening.'
The moment he stepped on the grass in front of the house, a white dog opened his eyes and lifted his head, looking in his direction.
"Sirius."
His expression relaxed when he saw his furry friend come over happily. Sirius sat in front of him, wagging his tail.
"How was your day?"
Crouching to pet him, Orion began to lightly tap on the dog's back, who enjoyed every moments of it. Once satisfied, Orion stood up.
Sirius returned to his nap as his master opened the front door.
Orion removed his coat and his shoes, then entered the living room, looking for whoever was in there.
'No one? That's unusual.'
There was always someone to greet him, either Amelia or Karteira, so it felt somehow strange. Still, he walked in the room and picked up the tablet that was placed on the coffee table, before sitting comfortably on the couch.
'Have Amelia modified a few blocks while I was away?'
Tapping on it a few times, he noticed more green blocks. Those green squares were grasslands that replaced the blinding and unremarkable white of the space. It was a lengthy process, as there was more than ten thousands of those squares, but Amelia was proceeding nevertheless.
'I haven't checked in a while, but I probably should now.'
After closing his eyes, he asked his void element to look around the space that was Horizon.
'...'
'I should've expected that after all that had happened.'
A drop of sweat fell from his cheek.
"How am I going to explain that to Amelia?"
When he looked at the screen again, a bip was heard, before it updated the whole map.
"How can Horizon grow in space? Just like that. That is absurd, we're talking about twenty kilometers here!"
He placed his hand on his forehead and slumped his back on the couch.
"At least it hasn't grown much wider, but still."
His voice sounded very tired, as he knew how Amelia would react.
'She's going to try harder, isn't she? I'll keep that news hidden-'
A laugh escaped his mouth.
"That's going to be impossible. This little device has already acknowledged the changes. It's as plain as daylight."
"I'll just try to smooth things up with her. She has a lot more things to deal with than me at the moment."
He tapped on the screen, locating where she was.
'The training ground...'
Noticing three dots in that area, he zoomed in.
'Amelia and Henrietta are together. She's getting some tough love I would guess? The last it is probably... Yes, that's Karteira.'
Away from these two was a very fast moving black dot.
'She's training her light magic. She had always got that interest for speed, so it makes me happy to know she can use it well.'
Thinking of his own uses on the light enhancement magic, he realized that he still had a lot to learn on it, and that his views on its use was varying from person to person.
"I should take a few days to train the Fourth Gear too, but I'll probably need Amelia for that... or maybe not."
'Tetra was playing with us while being Ego, so I will have to ask her later.'
That was a sour reminder that he could have been manipulated from the beginning. Yet, he never thought of Tetra as a traitor. It was a role she took upon herself to go through, and simply did so until she had to reveal her identity.
'A Remnant of 'Time and Space'... no wonder she's able to break boundaries so easily. If space is a simple curtain she can set aside, then forcing her words inside our minds is easy enough.'
Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings.
She had been more than that. She had been a huge help in their journey, from assisting them, giving insight, and showing up as a middle-aged merchant.
'There is still a lot we don't know about them. These two are Remnants, and daughters of Valkyries, the strongest humans in history. Compared to Elliott who had been taught everything related to combat, they never learned it, which makes them a liability in battle.'
'Not that I would ask them to fight. They're here to be protected, not exploited.'
Orion felt someone sitting next to him while he was thinking. So, he looked at the person in question, and...
"Olivia."
"Good evening, Orion."
As usual, she was very beautiful. It took Orion a few seconds to avert his gaze from her.
"Did you come out of the shower just now?"
He noticed droplets of water in her hair, and she looked a little flushed as well.
"Yes. I have returned from Noctelagia earlier, so I had to clean myself."
"I see. Welcome back."
"You too. I heard they all lost it after you've disappeared this morning."
He placed the tablet on the coffee table and looked through the window behind him.
"Because of the vortex, right? It's always when I'm away that things happen."
A soft giggle left her mouth.
"Well, after a while, they calmed down. It didn't seemed dangerous, so they ignored it. If something was to happen in Horizon, you would know firsthand anyways."
"Probably, yes."
Silence finally settled between them, as this seemed to be the end of the conversation. Until...
"Ah... Hmm~"
"What is it?"
He looked at a bothered Olivia, who was trying to say something.
"I don't want to be a bother to you. I know I arrived recently, and that I pretty much forced myself in your life."
"It's fine. We can't control the people around us, and I couldn't push you away either at that time. So, ask away."
"I-I... have been wondering if... y-you could maybe..."
From the looks of it, her request was either extremely embarrassing, or naughty. Either way, he waited for her to finish.
"Maybe, caress my hair?"
"..."
A blank stare. That was Orion's reaction to her request.
"Ah! No! Sorry! It's not like I was jealous of everyone! I thought that it would be nice, that's all!"
'I knew I shouldn't have asked! He's going to hate me now!'
She closed her eyes, tears forming at the sides of her eyes.
*Tap*
A few seconds later, she felt something press on her head, gently moving left and right.
When she opened her eyes, Orion had a gentle smile on his face.
"I thought for sure you were going to ask for something like a kiss. You surprised me for a few seconds."
"I thought you were about to refuse..."
"Why would I? It's not a big deal."
Caressing her blonde hair, she slowly began to melt. Literally.
Darkness peeled from her head and back, revealing two horns and a tail.
"Ah~"
Her eyes began to close by themselves, as the pleasure seemed to be too comfortable.
"I understand now why no one refuses those caresses."
"Yes?"
Her tail wrapped around his arms a few times as she enjoyed the moment. After a few minutes, Orion stopped.
"Eh? Already?"
"I can't be unfair to the others, can I?"
"I guess? Still, what a shame."
With a small pout, she straightened her back and hid her demonic traits.
"You can ask anything, as long as it's not sex."
"S-Sex... well, I'm not ready for that yet. What about a kiss?"
"As aggressive as you are, please do your best to do it in private. I won't refuse in that case."
His eye blinked with the sigil of Silka. Luckily for him, she seemed to have missed it.
'I swear, these women have a knack for making this react.'
When he was on the date with Dramia and Drania earlier, he managed to keep it under control, but just like now, he had to look away so that they wouldn't notice it.
Silka's sigil was a secret between him, Amelia, Karteira, and Tiohr-nam. It would only worry others if they knew that he had some Remnant power in him.
Even if that power was to simply enhance his view on whatever, or whoever was beautiful in his eyes and translate every language automatically.
"W-Well, if you say that. We are alone right now, right?"
Orion noticed her crawling toward him. He closed his eyes, and sighed with a smile on his face.
'I have to do something about Karteira, or else I will feel guilty.'
Karteira was rarely asking for embarrassing things like a kiss. In fact, since her first kiss, she hasn't asked for more. Compared to Amelia who was asking for one two times a day, he was feeling... lonely.
As his lips touched Olivia's, he forgot about that problem and simply focused on the moment. Compared to Amelia, Olivia was way more proactive in her kisses.
Not only did she peck on his lips, she also went for multiple kisses, going as far as to forget to breathe.
While that was happening, Orion remained perfectly calm. He didn't need more, and didn't want more. Even in their kisses, he could find the individualities of the girl.
Amelia was a feisty one. She knew what she wanted, and didn't hesitate to show it. The lack of affection might have led her to being more needy.
Karteira was more on the shy side. She kissed, backed off a little, then returned for more. She definitely needed more time to get used to it.
Olivia had been given the perfect nickname of 'Little Devil' by Orion. She was greedy, relentless, but still loving. She wasn't trying to hurt him, only seeking love she failed to control.
And even though he kissed the twins for the first time today, there was a few things he learned.
Dramia was probably as shy as Karteira, and she had the softest lips too. Orion noticed how strong her grip was on his arm, showing how resolved she was at that moment.
Drania was the playful one. She had difficulty kissing him, as she had a huge grin on her face the first time. She pecked his lips a few times, but still managed to do it correctly in the end.
This little internal realization awakened something in him. What about Deveralna, Senia, and May? Would they have uniqueness too?
'I am quite interested now.'
*Click*
"Hhmh!"
Olivia jumped, and in a split second, sat straight with a teary expression on her face. Orion wiped his mouth as she did the same and looked at the doorframe.
"We're back."
"Welcome back."
"W-Welcome back."
"..."
"W-What?"
Amelia looked at Olivia with a straight face, before turning around.
"I saw you two kissing through the window."
"A-No-It's not wha- I'm sorry!"
"Pfft! Haha~"
As Olivia tried her best not to make Amelia her enemy, Orion couldn't help but laugh.
'This house, I swear.'
Henrietta entered while shaking her head.
Not long after, Karteira returned, which fueled the chaos even more when Amelia told her what she saw.
While joking the rest of the night away, Stella and Tetra went downstairs too, and another day came to an end.
In his mind, Orion was glad to have such a pleasant life at last. It wasn't much different from before, but he had gained more by accepting everyone, so much more compared to his time in Auro training.
But it wasn't the end for him. There was still lots to do.
As he closed his eyes with Amelia between his arms, his resolve stayed true. He would bring an end to Miasma, and live happily with everyone.
With his lovers, and the people he saved.
