Husk

Species: Husk

Family: Insectoid

Risk level: Low

Weaknesses: Fire

Description: Husks are dead bodies animated by insects. It matters not if the body is from a human, dog, horse or even another insect, provided it`s big enough. It happens in situations where corpses are not dealt with before they start to rot, in turn attracting all kinds of bugs. After enough of the corpse is eaten they start to multiply and take over the body. If during this process one of the bugs gives birth to a broodmother, the broodmother then takes over the consciousness of the rest of the bugs. When the only things left are skin and bones, the broodmother commands pests residing inside of that corpse to move in a way that mimics natural movement.

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

Every single husk walks on all limbs for better stabillity and for higher moving speed. Even then it isn't fast enough for it to catch a human child so their danger is limited. They are dangerous only in higher numbers and their creation is limited because of the far spread tradition of cremating corpses. Even then in isolated places or wiped out villages they can form a small, yet dangerous army of undead. Fortunately even though they pose some kind of risk, most animals easily escape them and after one week of nothing to consume they fall apart.

Personal notes: "Husks are very interesting test subjects, due to their ability to control bugs inside their body. We still theorize how broodmother can control so many insects of different species but the most widely accepted theory is that after consuming the flesh of their host they assimilate leftover lifeforce and using that link, the broodmother can give the bugs simple commands."
