Dark Sleep

Species: Dark Sleep

Family: Conjoiner

Risk level: Medium

Weaknesses: Daylight

Description: This is a very specific kind of sleep demon, because instead of manifesting itself as some kind of unsettling creature it instead takes after their host's shadow. They attach themself to people with severe lack of self confidence, or anxiety. They show themself every night in dreams, or better said nightmares, of the victim, constantly harassing them and repeating to them everything bad they thought to themself.

Using their life, they slowly take over the shadow of their prey to further strenghen their hold of that person. The longer they are present, the stronger is their influence on the hosts behaviour and thoughs, causing them to close themself up and isolating themself from society. If in that time they manage to cause their victim to commit suicide, they take over their identity, by replacing their body with the shadow.

This way they essentially become that person, and continue on with their, now better live. This process can be stopped, and the demon exorcised if during the possession the person in question goes outside during the day and stays in sunlight for a few hours. This is because of their vulnerability to the sunlight, that they force their victims to stay inside at all times.

If one of your family members is suddenly withdrawing themself from others, it is highly recommended to convince them to spend more time with others and to go out as often as possible. If that doesn't work try to confirm if they are attached to the demon, and if true to force them to stay outdoors.

Personal notes: "Not all monsters are a cause of problems. This one in particular just expands on what is already existing and uses it to improve itself. The symbtoms in which it can show can be easily mistaken for normal depression and not monster infestation. This problems already exist in us, and we need only a push to let them fully show themself. Humans are full of imperfections and we need to get rid of most of them to fully be free in mind and spirit." Luis Rose, psychologist
