Blood Lake

Species: Blood Lake

Family: Unique

Risk level: Medium

Weaknesses: None

Description: Located deep inside our kingdoms's mountain range lays a circular lake filled to the brim with blood. Its diameter is around ten meters of size, which is dramatically disproportional to the depth of the pool, that amounts to ninety five meters. The lake emmits a foul odor very similar to rotting flesh, which spreads to all around the mountains.

The immidiate area, where it is located, is severely corrupted, and because of that its appereance reminds one of cracked, dry skin with exposed muscles underneath. Nothing living inhabits that region. Anything that comes near it is almost instantly absorbed inside it, no matter how close they are to the lake the proccess of absorbtion begins when they step onto the corrupted ground, slowly sinking in until they are fully submerged.

The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.

The reason why it can even hunt in this way is due to its presence that muddles with minds of its victims and distracting them from their slow death. Every month there must be at least one expedition of mages to that region to nullify its spread, otherwise it is estimated that it could cover the entire mountain range in around a decade.

Personal notes: "I was on the first expedition, when it was discovered. Our original task was to investigate the mountains in search of any mineable ores, or maybe suitable places to expand our kingdom. After two weeks we stumbled on crimson lake, the sun's light reflecting on its surface and enchanting with its appereance. First knights that tried to get closer to examine this phenomenon stopped responding after getting near it.

We knew that something was wrong, but at that moment we didn't respond correctly. Two next fools tried to shake their comrades from their stubbor, and like before also froze in place. We only managed to save them after using our ropes to form a lasso and getting them away from the danger. Unfortunatelly, one of them was to deep inside the ground to pull out. He was a good man and we will remember his sacrifice." Maze Gulet, member of Shool of life essence
