Chapter 38

“Your crazy…why would you do that? What reason do you have?” The man asks.

Rev looks him in his eyes. “Tell me, how many people have you killed? Can you tell me why you killed every single one of them? Can you tell me how you did it? Can you tell me when you did it?” Rev asks.

“…I've killed many people because they didn’t follow the rules. Shooting them down one by one sense I was 16 years old.” The man says.

“Well then, watching people die should be nothing new to you. Follow behind me if you wish it be the one watching and not the one being killed.” Rev tells the man.

He starts to walk down the hall. Rev scans the building, looking for any guards. Rev makes his way back to where he came. He sends his dagger straight through the back of the skull of the worker at the front desk. Rev dashes forward, taking in the source of the man. Rev then retrieves his dagger and continues to the cell holding area. Killing the guards along the way, making sure to absorb the source inside them. Rev goes to open the door to the main hall where the cells are located.

“Wait, if you kill all the guard then the prisoner will be unsupervised.” The man tries to tell Rev.

“Don’t worry, they will be dying too,” Rev responds.

“Now open this door.” Rev tells the man.

The man stares Rev in the eyes for only a moment before he hastily makes his way over to the door. He unlocked it and Rev dashes forward passed the guard waiting on the other side.

“Where did he-”

FOOOOSH!!

Rev sends a fire blast at them from above. He sends his dagger straight through their source metal masks. The guard on the upper cells looks down on Rev and fire.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

The bullets ricochet off the walls. The man is standing there frozen in the doorway. For all he can do is watch. Rev in one swift motion dashes up at one of the guard as he reloads and slits his throat. He send a fire blast at the guard across the ways. Rev then sicks his dagger in the wall and starts the fuse. He picks up the now load gun and dashes up, aiming at the guards across the ways.

BANG!

Shot hits the source metal chest plate of the guards. They then all at once fire.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Before the shots can reach him, Rev swaps with his dagger. With the guard's eyes looking up, Rev creates a small stone bullet and lights them on fire from the inside out. As then make contact, the molten magma center burst open, melting through the source metal. Rev continues to fire a barrage of molten bullets at the guards. The lava feeds off of their source and grows in volume as it consumes them, melting straight through the source metal and flesh and bones. Rev smiles as he has succeeded in a new combat art. He turns to the prisoner in their cells as they look at him in aw.

“Who are-”

BANG!

molten bullet through the skull.

“Do not talk to me filth.” Rev says.

The warden comes running through the hall, spotting the man frozen in the center of the doorway.

“What's going on here?” The warden asks.

The man is stunned “…We…we’re all going to die.” The man responds.

The Warden rushes past the man, meeting eye to eye with Rev’s crimson voids. The warden opens his mouth, but no words come out.

Rev lays his hand on his shoulder. “Don’t worry, ill make sure you die slowly.” Rev says.

“…How…how…how are you…” The warden is in disbelief. He turns to look at the frozen guard behind him.

He then fills a stinging sensation in his back. “It seems like someone stab you in the back.” Rev whispers in his ear.

“Why…not like this…” The warden gasp for air between words.

Rev twists the dagger on his back. Causing the warden to drop to his knees. He tries to turn, but Rev wraps his fingers around his neck.

TSSSS.

Rev burns his hand into the warden's neck, then pulls the dagger out. Rev smile, then it quickly fades. He makes his way past the guard.

“Where do you keep these?” Rev asks holding up a source metal bullet.

The man takes one last look at the warden as he bleeds out. He quickly turns to face Rev. “Follow me,” he says.

He takes him to the armoury. “Here it is,” the man says.

Rev walks in picking up a hand full of bullets. He picks up a bag and starts pouring them into it.

“What do you plan on doing with those?” the man asks.

“Don’t worry about it.” Rev responds.

Rev takes the bag full of bullets. He then starts to inscribe an art into the floor using his dagger.

“You know those aren’t much use without a gun to fire them.” The man tells Rev.

You might be reading a stolen copy. Visit Royal Road for the authentic version.

“You talk too much.” Rev says.

He hovers a red hot hand over the man's face. “Your here to watch, not question my ever action.” Rev tells the man.

The man's eyes flitch as he freezes in place “…sorry”

Rev finishes the inscribing the art, making sure to have a long fuse on it before its cast.

“Let go” Rev says.

He passes through the hall. He grabs a bullet out of the bag, pitching it between his finger and thumb. He cast a small fire blast with his other hand behind the bullet, lunching it forward. Rev charges up a multi able small fire blast. He then dashes through the halls rapidly firing at the guards' feet where and throat. As they are place where the guard has no armor. Rev cast an art that pulls things to the center of where it’s cast on his dagger. He puts a fuse on it and then lunches through a hallway. It goes off halfway through and pulls in the guards that were hiding. Rev then swaps with his blade and sweeps the guard's legs. He pulls his dagger to him will he cast a fire blast below his feet. The fire latches on the cloth in the guard's uniform. As they attempt to get up, Rev stabs them in the throat as the other guard rolls on the floor in a panic as he is burned alive. Rev picks him up and slams him against the wall. He rips the mask off of him, looking him straight in the eye. The guard flinches, directing his eye away. He then makes contact with the traitor guard.

“Wh-”

Rev sends the dagger through the man's throat.

“Shhh. Ive heard enough babbling for today.” Rev says as he looks over at the man.

“Where almost done” He reassures him.

Rev looks at the fuse inscribe in his arm, one that mimics the one in the armoury.

“yeah its time to get out of here,” Rev says.

He dislodges his dagger after he absorbs the source. Rev then absorbs the lingering source in the other dead guard's body. They make their way out of the building with haste. The man struggle to keep up with Rev’s shadow. Once they make it out, the man drops to his knees, gasping for air.

“Was that really-”

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

The building explodes, shaking the ground below them. Sending out a shock wave that causing the nearby tree to lean back and crash into each other. The man lays with his head on the ground, body shaking. Rev grabs the man’s head and forces him to look at the burning building.

“Isn’t it beautiful? The way the flame dances with the wind.” Rev says as he grins.

He lets go of the man's head as he looks far ahead, past the trees and to the road. “Cars…there coming back,” Rev thinks. He turns to look at the disheveled man one last time.

“Well, you're on your own from here.” Rev says disappearing into the forest.

He quickly makes his way to the road. The blast had obviously garnered unwanted attention, but Rev can use this to his advantaged. He waits in the forest for the last car to arrive. He shoots a bullet at the car’s tire, sending it swerving off the road. He makes his way to the crashed car. He opens the door, grabbing the drive. He scans the car.

“All alone. Hey can you tell me where Carter city is from here?” Rev asks.

The man points with a shaking hand.

“Thanks. Hey, any last words?” Rev asks.

“WHA-”

Rev slits the man's throat. “Sorry, but that was way too loud.” Rev says.

He absorbs the man's source and is off on his way. He hears the commotion around the now decimated prison. He smiles, then turns to make his way back to Carter. Unbenouse to Rev the explosion had caught the attention of a much large threat than a couple guards.

WHOOSH!

Flying fair above the cloud, the explosion is heard. “What was that sound?…”

He dives below the cloud. His head turns, and he looks far into the distance, seeing a gab in the trees. He looks forwards towards Carter.

“Can’t afford to get distracted…but what if that is Loka…”

He stops and looks towards the city, then the prison. His eyes gloss over. “I can’t help myself. Even if Loka is not there, it won’t hurt to get a little snack in before I kill him.”

He changes paths, shooting towards the prison in the fair distance. Rev makes his way swiftly through the forest, heading straight for Carter. “Loka…” he takes a look at himself and stops.

“Who am I barley have enough source to cast hell scape once? It would damn near kill me if I did. I need to refuel by source.” Rev says to himself.

WHOOSH!!!

A giant gust of wind passes over Rev. He ducks on instinct, at the same time he glares up at the sky. “Dragon! what's a dragon even doing here?” Rev thinks. He looked in the direction it was going. “Its heading toward the prison. The explosion must have gotten its attention.” Rev concludes.

Rev looks towards Carter, then back at the prison. Rev sighs “Well, that's one way of getting source” Rev says.

He changes his pathing back towards the prison. Before he makes it there, he stops and unloads the bullet. He gets out his dagger and begins to inscribe arts on them. In the meanwhile Loka goes to leave Carter on a flying vehicle.

“You can deal with that beast, can’t you?” Loka says, smile. “Go Rev and kill the beast. Come back to me when you are ripe for the picking. No sooner will I accept you.” Loka says.

“Its time to go, sir,” the pilot tells Loka.

Loka is off location unknown.

“Tell me, is Loka here?” The dragon asks.

The guards drop to their knees. “…um….ummm…ah…uh…” They can seem to form any words.

The man from before steps forward, body trembling. “No…he’s not here.”

The dragon looks the man in the eyes. “It seems your soul's already been taken from you. If Loka is not here, then I might as well fill my stomach.” The dragon says.

As the sun begins to rises. It shines upon the dragon's scales. They shine a glossy silver. Before the man can react, his upper half is ripped from his body and into the mouth of the beast. The guard looks up at the dragon in pure terror. The dragon turns, gazing upon them. The guard's legs turn to noodle. They can’t, for the life of them seems to stand up, as they are torn apart and eaten one by one.

BANG!

It is said that new arts can not be created, but there is nothing in place that stops them from being combined. In a sense, it is like creating a new art, but still falling in line with the set rules. Now that’s easier said than done. In most cases, a caster is considered skilled to be able to cast two arts rapidly after each other. To cast an two arts at the same time would take a season and pervious caster. Now, with the skill to be able to inscribe arts, this task becomes significantly easier. Still requiring to caster to have the skill to inscribe multiple arts and there cast timed perfectly for them to overlap in a way that results in a useful art. With this all in mind. A bullet travels straight at the dragon's neck. Right before impact, the cast is triggered. A condense fire starter art and a wide spread wind blast go off. Causing a cloud of fire to engulf the dragon.

“It actually worked…let see,” Rev says.

BANG!

Another bullet fires from Rev’s clenched fingers. This time, a stone orb is created around the bullet.

“Well, it seems I didn’t put enough source into the fire art to melt the stone.” Rev says.

The dragon stands there proud and mighty. It leans in, meeting eyes with Rev. Rev stares right back at him.

“Red eyes…” the dragon mutterers.

His claws sink into the ground. Rev stands his ground, but it can not be helped. His legs feel weak and his hands start to shake. “This dragon…is bigger than the black one Loka killed.” Rev thinks. His heart rate accelerates. The thumbing sound echoes throughout his body.

“Who are you child” The dragon asks.

Rev goes to open his mouth, which is suddenly bone dry. He lets out a breath. “My name…is Rev”

“Be gone,” the dragon says.

He swipe his claw at him, cutting Rev and sending him flying into the forest. Going straight through several trees. “Who….is that dragon…” Rev says as his vision begins to cave in on itself.

He struggles to take in air, but he so desperately needs it. The scares on his chest and face ache in pain. The stinging sensation is like nothing Rev has ever experienced before. He couldn’t even react to the attack he knew was coming. This will be no easy battle.
