Chapter 30

Rev finishes his food and returns his bowl. He heads towards his room to return to studying. Rev falls asleep that night with the book in hand. He is woken up the next day by the morning bell, but he doesn’t yet have the permission of the cleric to return to training. So he heads down to the garden. He strolls around the garden, taking in the source from all around him. His body already feels much stronger than yesterday. After his stroll, Rev returns up to his room. He studies the and studies. Pieces together the words in the book to better understand them. He practices casting once more. A flame appears visible for only a second or two, but the improvement is there. He tries over and over and over and over again. He sees the sun is almost past mid day. He goes down to the library to join Rebecca and Lilly for class. Afterwards Rebecca gives Rev a gift.

“Rev, I found something that could be very helpful to you. It’s a dictionary with hundreds of words inside.” Rebecca tells Rev.

Rev gives a confused look, and he accepts the giant book from Rebecca. He opens it up to see words and there was detention inside.

“Thank you,” Rev calmly says.

Rebecca smiles “your welcome Rev”

Rev takes the book with him to his room and uses it to better decipher the words. By the end of the night Rev had read through the entire book, now fully understanding it. Rev move his source just how the book had instructed. Being sure not to put in too much power. Rev sees the art form in full completion in his hands. First, the light hit him. Then the sound of the warmth of the flame follows. he had done it a flame contained in his hand. He quickly added to his growing the flame. The flame shot up the ceiling. Then quickly came down. Rev then extinguishes the flame. Learning how to cast the art and learning how to control it are two different things. Rev continues to practice, he notices how source draining keeping the fire alive is. It's better to cast is short bursts, and instead of fulling it with pure source. He can use wind blast at the right power to grow the flame in short powerful burst forward. By the end of the night there is a dark burnt mark on Revs wall across from his bed. The range is only about 8ft, but the damage it causes is enough to make up for it. Rev gets an idea to use his shock wave attack with the fire. It's too big to be safely cast inside, so he directs the attack out his window. The result was a wind spread carpet of fire.

“Woah” Rev says as stares into the fading flames.

He notices that it’s turned to night. He wonders how late he’s been up practicing. He quickly closes his window and gets into bed. Once his head hits the pillow is as if all the energy he had just had a second ago disappears. He is asleep with in a minute's time. Rev is woken up the next day by the knock on his door.

“Rev, the funeral will start soon,” Shane says.

“Funeral?” Rev mutters to himself.

He gets up from his bed. Then open the door. Shane stands in front of him with a sad look on his face.

“Follow me,” Shane says.

Rev closes the door and follows behind him. They make it to the courtyard where Paul's tomb is elevated in the center. Rev and Shane join the crowd. Bron takes the stage.

“We are gathered here today to give our blessing and farewells to a beloved soul. Paul was a great man, one I had known for my whole life. He had overseen the palace for over a hundred years. He made sure that he knew everyone's name and face. There was not one person that did not know his kind voice. He was truly a blessing to all of us, but it’s time for him to return to the ones that had made him. We pray that paul may travel to the beyond and continue to guide us to follow in his footsteps.” Bron says as a tear leaves his eye.

Bron goes to leave the sage. “What about Loka? What if he comes back? Are you just going to let him continue to do what he pleases? When will he be killed? Why must the someone like Paul die while a monster like Loka lives.?” Rev asks.

People turn to him. Whispers start some many disputing it, but there are some in agreement.

“We choose our fates. Paul had served his purpose in this world. It was only a matter of time before he left us for a place much better than anything we can image. Death for Paul is nothing more than a reward for his hard work. Death for Loka will come and when it does, it will be a pain like no others. Only the twin gods know when that date is.” Bron responds.

“I know when that date is. Its when ever I find him,” Rev declares.

Many people gasp at the statement, but Bron looks at him head on. “Child, do you really believe yourself to be the first to go after him? I tell you now not only I, but Ein as well have dedicated many years to trying to kill or tame the beast. You are not special in your hatred. In time, you will learn that, that hatred had only been weighing you down. I am not asking you to forgive the monster, but to be assured that his damnation is nothing more than certain. Take heart in that and let yourself be free.” Bron tells Rev.

The fire in Rev’s eyes burns brighter than the sun itself. “Hatred, passion, drive. No, this is my purpose. I am Loka’s damnation! Mark my words.” Rev yells out for all to hear.

Bron sighs. He takes the casket on his shoulder and does many other warriors.

Rev turns to walk away.

“Rev…” Shane says.

Rev pays him no attention. Rev makes his way to the library. Where he goes through the rows of books until he finds the fire art section again. Rev looks through the books, deciding with art he thinks he could cast and if the art would even be useful to him. Rev had got two more books on fire arts and with the funeral going on, the librarian wasn’t there. So he just takes the books back to his room. Rev sits in his bed with one book he’s trying to read and his dictionary by his side to look up any word he doesn’t know. Rev has run into some word where he looks up there detention and there’s a word in the detention that he doesn’t know either. Despite this, Rev keeps a pretty good pace. His progress is brought to a halt when Reva's hungry catches up to him. Rev drops what he’s doing and heads to the dining hall. On his way there, people are giving him strange looks. More strange than usual, he can hear whispers all around him. Eventually, as Rev is waiting in line, an old human man comes up to Rev.

This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.

“Do you really think you can kill him….kill the monster?” The old man asks.

“It’s what I was born to do,” Rev responds with no hesitation.

The man’s hands are shaky. “So you believe the twin gods have sent you here to bring Loka to justice?” The old man asks.

“belief has nothing to do with it. My purpose is nothing more than a fact.” Rev states.

The old man is in shock. “Is this what the twin gods truly want?” The old man asks.

Rev sighs, “I called out to the twin gods many times before. Just to be met with silences. Then when I saw him. When I finally saw who had killed my family, who had been the reason, Ein died. It suddenly become so clear to me. The twin gods' plan was finally revealed to me,” Rev tells the old man.

The old man is speechless “all the Challenges in my life had led me to that moment.” Rev says.

“To find such a strong purpose at such a young age is not something many achieve. For some people, finding a strong, rough purpose is never achieved. I envy your drive, but not your task.” The old man calmly says.

Rev gets his plate of food. "Good luck kid,” the old man says.

“Thank you,” Rev responds. The first to support him in his task.

Rev sits down alone at a table. He scans the room of many faces. “Paul really knew all of these people's names. Maybe he would understand my purpose better than Bron.” Rev thinks to himself. He finishes his food and returns his plate. As he returns to his room, more whispers about him start to spreads.

“Is he truly acting on the will of the twin gods?.” they say.

“Have the end times started?” One says.

“Do not be ridiculous,” another refutes

Rev pays them no mind as the only thing he is thinking about is learning new arts. Once Rev makes it back to his room, he begins to study for the rest of the day, leaving his room only once more to get food. He didn’t even join Lilly and Rebecca for class that day. Rev studied into the night until he could bring himself to stay awake any longer. Rev would spend the next 3 weeks in what was almost complete isolation. Only leaving his room to get food from time to time. He starts drawing out the arts he would see on the walls and searching through the library. He had found a book on the history of the world. The books talked about the elf dragon war. It talks about Loka and the elf king. How they both claimed to be gods brought down into flesh. Shane, pine and the others had checked in on Rev every day. Rev would only respond with “am fine”.

The cleric had said after the second week that he should be good to train again. Rev didn’t care about teasing to become a warrior anymore. His purpose is now clear and there will be nothing to stand in his way.

-4months later

Rev has read all the fire art books. He has not mastered all of them and is not even able to cast all of them, but the knowledge of how higher and great arts works has been acquired. Rev has now stopped talking to the others. “Bron, Shane, Lilly. They are nothing more than distractions,” Rev thinks. Lilly had been coming to Rev's window and calling out to him from the garden below almost every day. As the months passed by Lilly had started to lose her voice from calling out Rev so much. Rev had told her to not wait for him, but as the months passed by he could no longer be bothered to answer.

“Come on, Lilly Rev is….well he’s busy,” Rebecca told Lilly.

Rebecca, after a few months, stop allowing Lilly yo call out to Rev. “The least he could do is respond,” Rebecca thought.

It was all too late. Hatred and obsession had taken Rev’s heart.

Reg sighed. "They just don’t understand. Am doing this for the benefit of everyone.” Rev muttered.

Was he reason truly just or righteous?

“Papa, why doesn’t Rev ask for any help? Did he really end up doing it all by himself?”

“Well, child, if you stop interrupting the story, you will find out sooner than later. Now where was I”

Rev’s in his Studies of arts and history. He had discovered the special arts in more detail. He had remembered that Ein had told him that the special arts were the most powerful and most complicated to use. How people had dedicated their lives to figure them out. The amount of source required to cast them was also extraordinary. “Paul had said that Loka had learned not one but two special arts. The only way to fight against such things is with a special art of your own.” Rev remembers. Rev sighs “where am I going to find a special art?” Rev thinks. He starts to read over the name of the five special arts. Along with their description of what you knew about them.

“Frozen purgatory…the creation of a violent bone chilling blizzard that rips anything apart that finds itself inside it.- Element ice. Cyclones…the creation on a tower spiral of rapid spinning air. The rapid wind can pick people and even some building up into the air and send them flying in all directions - element air. Limbo… details Unknown. Never been cast - element unknown. Hell scape…wait I’ve heard that name before,” Rev says.

He tries to think back. “Hell scape…” Rev was remembered here that name.

“Loka! He said it. He asked where it was.” Rev says.

“That monster wants another special art…”Rev thinks.

Rev soon realizes a problem “wait…I don’t know where the special art is. I’ll just ask Bron.” Rev thinks to himself.

Rev makes his way to Brons' office, where he waits for him to return. Bron eventually opens the door to the surprise of Rev sitting there waiting for him.

“Rev…it’s good to see you,” Bron says.

“Bron do you know where the special art Hell scape is?” Rev nonchalantly ask.

Bron hearts drops and his tone turns serious. “For what purpose would you need to know such information?”

“Well, I remember that Loka said he wanted it. I was just wonder why a guy who already had two special arts would want another.” Rev asks.

“Well, if you had listened back then you would have heard that Paul said we castes the ring in iron and thrown it off the mountainside,” Bron tells Rev in an unamused tone of voice.

Rev gets up “why would you throw away the only thing you could use yo fight against Loka!?” Rev yells in disbelief.

“Rev, there is no need for an art of such violent and destructive nature. It’s not like any of us could even begin to attempt to cast it.” Bron tells Rev.

“But you guys were the one that deciphered the special arts.” Rev says.

Bron laughs at his statement. "Is that what those books tell you? Well, Rev, if you really must know Loka and was the first person that was successful in deciphering a special art. He was the first second and third. He had left before he finished deciphering the other two. It took dozens of people to attempt to do what he did.” Bron tells Rev.

“What! He was here? How did you let this happen? When did this happen?” Rev is severely confused.

“The books did have some missing piece in the timeline when I read them. I thought that nothing had happened during that time that was left out,” Rev thought to himself.

“Rev Loka, once upon a time, was considered an ally. A strong and smart young mind. People change Rev sometimes it’s for the worse. They let their obsession take over their life.” Bron tells Rev. Looking intently into his eyes.
