The warmth of the source fills him. He lays there and drifts off to sleep.
-Day 4 of the mountain palace
-3 days until second encounter
Rev is woken up by a cold breeze. The sun has not yet risen. Rev looks around the dark garden to and spots a glowing fruit on the tree. He reaches up to it but is stopped by an unknown whisper in his ear. “Not…yet..” Rev hears. Rev turns around to see no one is behind him. He looks up to his window and wind blast up to it. There is no one there either.
“Where did that voice come from” Rev mutters to himself.
He closes the window and gets in bed. Clinging to the blankets for warmth. He tosses and turns, unable to get any further rest. Thought start to flood his mind. unfamiliar voice echo in his head. “Poor child” One says. “Don’t stop,” another says.
“What do you want?” Rev shouts.
His breath is heavy and rapid. He is shivering cold. Shane knocks on the door.
“Are you alright Rev. I heard you yell” Shane asks.
“Go away!” Rev snaps back.
He catches his breath. “Am fine…” Rev says in a calmer tone.
“Well…if you need to talk, we are all here.” Shane says in reassurance.
Rev hears Shane walk away from the door. He takes a seat on the floor, leaning against the wall. “What’s going on…” Rev thinks. “Why am I like This…why, did you have to die?” Rev thinks. His own words digging deeper into his wounded soul. Rev realizing he won’t get any sleep gets up and out of his room. He goes out the main hall into the courtyard. He looks up at the rising sun.
“Come to see the sun rise?” Bron asks.
Rev stares into the empty sky as flashes of memory flicker in and out. The overwhelming fear that took his body hostage before.
“Rev…” Bron calls out, reaching out to touch his shoulder.
Rev is brought back to reality and the sky clears. He sees Bron standing tall next to him.
“Your not him…” Rev whispers under his breath.
Bron stands there confused as Rev walks away. The sun continues to rise. It’s like trying to catch up to Rev, but he disappears into the darkness of the palace hall.
“Rev where are you going!” Bron yells out to Rev.
He is to fair away to hear his voice. Rev keeps walking. He heard the bell start to ring like the days before. He head to the dining hall to get some breakfast.
“Well, aren’t you early,” Clare says.
“Give me whatever you think is good,” Rev tells Clare.
Clare smile “will do” she responds.
Ref taken his plate and take a seat. He quickly eats the food. He gets up and gives the bowl back to be wash.
“Thank you” Clare says.
Rev doesn’t say a word as he walks away back to the courtyard. Bron sees him returning.
“What was that all about? Are you ok kid?” Bron asks with concern in his voice.
“Am fine…I was just hungry. So I went to get some food.” Rev responds.
“Oh…we’ll get in line as we wait for the others,” Bron Tells Rev.
The other arrives and they begin their training once more. The warm up ends in another victory for the students, with Rev once again leading the charge. They go for their run. Rev leads with a confident stride. The others try to keep up, making sure to keep a consistent pace. Once over, they go into source training. Where Bron has thought of something interesting.
“How about the four of you try to go up against Rev is source control?” Bron suggests.
“The four of us would that even be fair at that point.” Pine asks.
Bron smile “only one way to find out, but if I was you. I’d wouldn’t get too confident.” Bron tells them.
They begin, Rev watches as their source pool interacts with each other. They collision with each other more than they are with him. Rev uses this to easily dismantle their defense. The four of them combine do have more source than Rev, but surprisingly not by much in Revs eyes. He can tell they don’t know what they're really doing he pins there source against each other and is all around playing with them. Bron can’t see what’s happening, but he can see the smirk on Rev’s face.
“Ok you can stop now Rev,” Bron says.
Rev scuffs “So…did we loose” Bane asks.
They look over at him. "Did it feel like we were winning to you?” Shun sarcastically says.
“Enough bickering. We will focus more on source control in the coming day. Your arts can not advance with a weak foundation.” Bron tells the others.
They continue their source control, substituting it for the second round of tag for today.
“Rev, I would like to ask you to point out all the mistakes in their flow of source and anything else you think is important.” Bron Tells Rev.
This novel's true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there.
“Fine,” he responds.
“Your flow is too fast. You need to make it more accurate,” Rev tells Bane.
“your flow is to unbalance. It’s more dense in some areas and less in other. Need to try to keep the flow consistent.” Rev tells Shun.
“Your flow is…fine. Try to speed it up slightly.” Rev tells pine.
“Your flow is…where is your flow?” Rev asks Shane.
“Sorry am still pretty tired from before,” Shane responds.
“Should eat. Ein also told me to eat and take a nap when I went all out beforehand. You can take a nap in the garden. The source is dense in there.” Rev tells Shane.
“The garden?” Shane asks? The other's head turn.
“What?” Rev respond confused.
“Do you mean the garden with the source tree?” Pine asks.
“…I think so” Rev responds.
Bron walks over. "Who let you in the garden?” He asks.
Rev take a step back on edge “I jumped down to it from my window. Is that a problem?” Rev responds.
Ein laughs. “I see, so it let you in. Guess it would make sense you could see it with those eyes of yours.”
Rev gives a co fused look. "The garden has a barrier around it just like the one that’s around the whole entire palace. It’s jus touch smaller. It is said o yo those deemed worthy by the twin gods can enter, but it’s not only seen as a high praise. Many grow jealous of those who have been blessed.” Bron tells Rev.
“So…you guys can’t go in there?” Rev asks.
They laugh. "We can’t even see it,” Shane responds.
“Ok let’s end off training for today,” Bron says.
They head to the dining hall. Rev surprisingly training behind. “Am…worthy…blessed.” Rev can’t make sense of it. “I couldn’t be blessed…” Rev thinks. The smell of the food hits his nose, and he is put at easy. He gets his food and takes a seat where he always sits. The guys are already there waiting for Rev.
“Thank you twin god for the meal. We will not let any go to waste.” Shun prays.
They begin to eat and ask a question about the garden.
“What’s it like in there? Is the source tree big?” Bane asks.
“It’s kinda warm, and the tree isn’t very tall, but has a wide bottom.” Rev tells Bane.
“Hey, we aren't so to ask questions about the garden.” Pine says.
“Oh, yeah…forgive me twin gods…I will increase my worship tonight.” Bane prays.
Pine sighs, and Rev gives a confused look. He then switches attention to his food and quickly finishes it. He returns the plate once more and heads off.
“See you later Rev” the others call out from the table.
Rev looks over at them and does the waving motion that he had seen Lilly do once before. “Wait…Lilly was in the garden. Does that mean she is blessed?. She didn’t have much source in her.” Rev thinks. He quickly hurries’s back to his room and goes to the garden below. Rev looks around and calls out Lilly’s name.
“Lilly…where are you?” Rev calls out.
Lilly comes running to Rev from out of the flowers.
“Rev!” she says, clinging on to him.
Rev takes a better looks at Lilly “no special amount of source is in her” he thinks.
“Lilly, where did you run off to,” Rebecca calls out.
Rev has forgotten about her. "Is she also blessed?” Rev thinks.
“She over hear” Rev respond.
Rebecca appears, and Rev gives her a good look as well. “No-“
“Hey kid my eyes are up here” Rebecca tells Rev.
Rev sees the look she is giving him. A slight blush appears on his face.
“No I wasn’t-" Rev tries to say.
“It’s ok just don’t do it again.” Rebecca tells Rev is a stern tone.
Rev blush grows a darker red. “Why can’t I talk? What is this…why is my face so warm? “Rev thinks. He takes a breath and blurts it out.
“I was looking at your source!” He tells her.
“My…source?” She seems skeptical.
“Yes…I can see it. In you, in Lilly, in the plants, in the trees. In the food.” Rev says.
Lilly reaches up to move the hair from his face. Fully revealing his crimson eyes.
“Look Momma, his eyes are red like the flower you like,” Lilly says.
Rebecca is stunned at what she is seeing. She has seen a glow before, but never completely uncovered.
“There… Beautiful, “she says, as she stares in awe.
“What’s it look like…the source? Is it as bright as the visionaries say?” Rebecca asks.
“It gets bright the more of it is close together.” Rev responds.
“I see…that is your blessing” Rebecca’s tone has softened.
The blush on Rev’s face fades. “What’s that so to mean?” Rev asks.
Rebecca quickly responds, “your eyes are a blessing from the twins' gods. Has that not been made clear to you? You can see their greatest gift to us clearer than anybody’s alive.” Rebecca tells Rev.
Rev is slightly speechless at such a statement. He remembers Ein telling him something similar “cured and blessed at the same” he thinks, not being able to fully remember what Ein had told him.
“Is something wrong?” Rebecca asks.
“…no am fine” Rev responds.
“Well, we should go now,” Rebecca says.
“But momma I don’t want to study any more.” Lilly says, clinging back on to Rev.
“Study?” Rev repeats.
“Yes, Lilly has much studying to do.” Rebecca says.
“But momma I wanna cast arts like Rev.” Lilly says.
Rebecca signs, “child you do not have the source for such thing. If you like, I’d let you read one of the book to see if you could even begin to understand it. Learning arts is not something that is accomplished in only a few days.” Rebecca says.
[1:47 PM“Books of arts, where?” Rev asks.
He remembers that Ein would talk of them. How he wishes he could show him then. “He had promised to show me them,” Rev thinks.
“It’s in the Library…would you like to come with us?” Rebecca asks.
“Yes I would,” Rec says with excitement.
Rebecca smiles. “ok it’s settled. Come on, Lilly, you heard Rev. It’s time to study.” She says.
Lilly looks up at Rev and pouts, “fine…” Lilly says.
They make their way out of the garden. Through the palace and down the steps below the palace.
“Have you ever been down here Rev?” Rebecca asks.
“No, I haven’t” Rev responds.
“Well, you're in for a surprise then…” Rebecca says.
Lilly rolls her eyes as they approach the library door. “Another massive door,” Rev thinks.
Rebecca knocks on a smaller door that is in the larger door.
“Its Rebecca,” she says.
The door opens, and cyclops gives a smile. “Hello again and hello there, Lilly. Who is your…are you the dark elf that everyone has been talking about.?” the liberation asks.
Rev takes a step back. “It's ok” Rebecca reassure the Liberian.
“Come on Rev, ill show you where the art books are,” Rebecca says.
Rev follows after her with Lilly by his side. His dark cloak trailing behind him as he walks. Rev looks at the bookshelf towers all around him. Full of books of many kinds.
“Here we are. This section is all art. They are organized by elements and difficulty. If you need any help, Lilly and I will be over hear studying the visions of the twin gods.” Rebecca tells Rev.
Rev looks at his books in awe. He walks through the rows. He picks up a book on stone transformation. Then he sees it. A section on fire arts labeled highly dangerous. Rev does not hesitate to go in. All the books are now lower than higher arts. Rev searches for something he thinks he could do. He just want to be able to create fire at will. Rev looks and looks until he finally finds what he's looking for. Basic fire creation, fundamentals of fire transformation. “Perfect” Rev thinks. He takes the book to a seating area with a table. He opens it up “…What is this” Rev thinks. Rev might have underestimated the difficulty of fire casting. He sighs and starts to read through it. Over and over and over and over again. The book isn't that long. Rev has Read it three times over. Only understanding a little more each time. There are words that Rev has never seen before. Rebecca goes over to Rev with Lilly.
“How is it going?” She asks.
“I…don’t understand it,” Rev says.
“I told you it wouldn’t be easy. Arts are very complicated.” She says.
“No, not that art the words. I do know what they mean,” Rev says, pointing to some of the words he doesn't understand.
Rebecca smile “I see you are truly more similar than I could ever immane. Well, I had Lilly in a reading class before, but it didn’t work out, so I teach her personally. You can join us if you like,” Rebecca suggests.
“Really…”Rev asks.
Rev is unsure at Rebecca's streak of sudden kindness.
“Of course, but I won't go easy on you.” She says with a laugh.
“Ok…” Rev responds.
Lilly jumps up and down with joy. “Really, Rev will join us for ready class momma,” Lilly says.
Rebecca smiles, looking at Lilly, then Rev. “It seems so.”
