Rev lays back against the tree again with his book in hand. Cass walks over, seeing the cover of the book. “Source inscription”
“That's a fairly advanced bo0k your reading,” Cass tells Rev.
Rev rolls his eyes and then presses his finger against the tree. He starts to inscribe a basic wind blast art into the tree.
“Apply source to it,” Rev tells Cass.
Cass kneels down and does a Rev say. Without warning, the second Cass apply source to it. A wind blast activates right in Cass’s face. Rev can’t help but let at a laugh. Cass is stunned at what has just happened.
“How old are you? How did you do that?” Cass asks, intently waiting for a response.
Rev scuffs, “Why does everyone ask me for me age? I don’t know it and all I did was inscribe a wind art into the tree.” Rev says trying to play it off as no big deal.
In truth Rev had been practicing that for many weeks on end and was surprised himself when it actually worked.
“I ask you your age because in appearance you look quiet young, but it seems yours is also an elf…a dark elf. I have not been informed of you properly. So, who would be a better source than you yourself?” Cass tells Rev.
“Well, there’s not much I know about myself. I have been given my purpose, and that is who I am,” Rev responds.
Cass gives a curious look. "Purpose? What kind of purpose?” Cass asks.
Rev smirks. “I have been born to make another wish. They were never born.” Rev says.
Cass is taken aback. "Is that so…who is this person?” Cass asks.
“Loka will face his damnation and I will be the one to deliver him it.” Rev tells Cass. His voice unwavering and conviction.
Cass takes a look at Rev. “ Has no one told you to not let hatred enter your heart? For it is a place of love.” Cass tells Rev.
Rev sighs “it is not hatred, it is my purpose!” Rev argues.
“Your purpose is rooted in hatred. If you tell me it’s not, then I ask you to prove it.” Cass says.
“I don’t need to prove anything to you!” Rev tells Cass.
Cass sighs. "I can not stand her and let you take this path of life.” Cass says.
Cass reaches out to touch Rev's shoulder. Rev is gone in a blink of an eye.
“…where did he go” Cass says to himself.
“What were you trying to do?” Rev asks.
Cass turns around to see Rev is behind him.
“How…no matter. Child, if you wish to know your real purpose, then I may give you a vision of it through my divine touch. I have been blessed with seeing glimpses of people's futures.” Cass tells Rev.
Rev gives a skeptical look. “Sure you can…” Rev says.
“It would only take a moment. I swear on the twin god's name I will not tell any but you what’s I see,” Cass tells Rev.
“Well, if you're that confident, I guess I’ll allow it.” Rev says taking a step forward.
Cass smiles and rests his shoulders on Rev's shoulder. He takes a breath.
“Twin gods reveal his future to me,” Cass prays.
…
Rev waits.
….
And wait.
Cass hand start to shake. “Hey…what are doing? You cold?” Rev asks.
Cass is silent. His eye is wide open as it twitches around. Rev can feel Cass’s pounding heart. He starts to sweat and soon after collapses to the ground.
[1:58 PM]
Tell me it’s not true…tell me it’s not true…tell me it’s not true…tell me it’s not true…” Cass starts to repeat over and over again.
Rev looks disappointed. “Hey you ok…should I get someone?” Rev asks.
Rev looks around. “Your bro gonna die, right?” Rev asks.
Cass starts repeating and goes silent “….they are all going to die” Cass tells Rev.
“…ok. I could have told you that. No one lives forever.” Rev says.
“May the twin gods have mercy on my soul.” Cass says.
Rev is very confused. “I don’t have time for this,” He says.
He then walks back to the source tree and starts to read his book once more.
“Time…that’s it. We still have time.” He looks at Rev. “yes you are still a child. Some much time you have, but…I can not. They said I may not. Or else I will face the same wrath they will face. The twin gods' plans are absolute. Who am I to put them into question?” Cass says.
Rev gives an irritated look. “Can you keep your crazy thoughts to yourself am trying to read.” Rev tells Cass.
“Am sorry, forgive me. Please forgive me. Is there anything I can do for you Rev?” Cass asks.
Rev’s expression quickly changes. “Well, I guess I am kinda hungry.” Rev says.
If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
“We can’t have that. I’ll be right back with a meal.” Cass says.
He heads for the door. He opens it to see a crowd of people have formed our side.
“Do not linger around when there is a world to be done.” Cass says.
The crowd's mumble come to an abrupt stop.
“Sorry,” they say as the crowd scatters.
Rev sits under the tree patiently waiting as he reads his book. He attempts another source inscription, but this time it fails. “Must have gotten lucky,” Rev thinks. He continues to read deeper into it. After a while, Cass returns with Rev's meal.
“Here you go,” Cass says.
“Thanks.” Rev responds.
“Yes, and thanks you twin gods for the meal non shall go to waste.” Cass prays.
Rev starts to eat his food as he continues to read.
“Well, I have my duties to attend to. If there’s anything else, you may only need to ask me,” Cass tells Rev.
Rev nods his head and Cass leaves the garden. “That guy is weird,” Rev thinks to himself.
-Day 160 of the search.
Not much has changed in the past month. Rev has practiced his source control every day. Even when in the blizzard. His head is much more steady than before when jr comes to source inscription. He has gotten the hand at a basic wind blast, but not much more can be down with it for now. The search for the ring is a tedious and tiresome task. On the possible side, Cass has helped Rev get a new cloak made better suited for taking on the blizzard. Cass has helped in many things, most notably teaching Rev about the history of the palace and the world it’s self. As the history book Rev had been ready to have some contradiction and loose ends to them. Along with periods of time that have gone undocumented.
“So the elves spit off from the cyclops and then went to the lane of the dragon and brought them back to Eaven. It sounds like the elves haven’t done one good thing for the world.” Rev says.
Cass laughs. "Your race has nothing to do with your character. Salvation is offered to all who will listen.” Cass tells Rev.
“We’ll all the stories you tell me seem pretty bad. I honestly don’t know how to keep these things memorize.” Rev says.
“Am a visionary, having a good memory is important, but in truth I make sure to go back and read the original documents on such matter to make sure my information is accurate.” Cass tells Rev.
“I didn’t see any books that said anything you told me in the Library. Half of the ones on history aren’t even finished.” Rev says.
“Oh, I see. Well, if you wish to know more, I could give you access to the vault where the original unedited books are if you would like.” Cass says.
A spark goes off in revs eyes. “Really?” He asks.
“I don’t see why not. I trust you won't share this information with untrustworthy people.” Cass says.
“Of course not,” Rev responds.
“Then we’re off. Follow me, child.” Cass tells Rev.
Rev follows behind Cass. Then make it to the library, then head toward the back. Cass looks at the books on the back shelf.
“What are you looking for?” Rev asks.
“Patience child.” Cass responds.
He finds two books and takes them out of the shelf. Rev takes a closer look and sees a source inscription on the back of the shelf. Cass presses his finger on it and the self splits in half leading to a hallway. Rev follows after Cass and as they step through the shelf comes back together behind them. Rev can see the surrounding source. It seems someone had made a timer of sorts. I delay in the source inscription activation and when the art is actually cast. They make it to the vault, a door much smaller than the ones Rev was used to. Cass goes to open the vault with a key. Then slower starts to open the door.
“Can I get some help here? This thing is quiet heavy,” Cass says.
Rev coats the door in source and pushes it as he can. Before he can pull the source back, it seems to have disappeared.
“Wow kid, you're stronger than you look,” Cass says.
“Thanks…I guess” Rev responds.
The door leads to a small room not much bigger than Revs. The walls are made of the same heavy metal as the door. Rev scans the room and is caught off guard.
“What is that…” Rev says.
Cass walks over and Rev points to the metal cube. “Oh, that's the special art Hell scape. its In-sealed in source metal.” Cass tells Rev.
“Source metal?” Rev asks. As he gets closer to the cube.
“Never heard of it? Well, its metal that naturally takes in source and the more source it takes in, the stronger it becomes. It's the reason it's so heavy. It's also what special art rings are made out of,But Loka had personally pumped the full of source to make them practically indestructible. I remember we first tried to melt the ring, but it was so full of source we can’d get a fire hot enough. So we encased it in the same metal it was created in.” Cass tells Rev.
“So Paul didn’t throw it off the mountain?” Rev asks.
Cass laughs, “Of course not. That would be highly dangerous. The source it gives off would attract the monster. That's why it's kept down here. Where it is safe from any people with bad intentions.” Cass tells Rev.
Rev rests his hand on top of the cube. “Its really been here the whole time,” Rev whispers.
“Ok, so the history books you're looking for are in this pile. Sorry, it is not very organized. Not many people come down here.” Cass says.
“Ok…” Rev responds.
“Well, ill be going now. Be sure not to activate any source inscription on the wall. We don’t know what they all do yet. So be carful.” Cass says.
Rev looks around the room to and sees the many source inscriptions he had not noticed before. Cass gets up to leave. He keeps the door open. Not to lock Rev in. Rev is not alone with the thing he has been looking for, for so long. He tries to rip it apart with source coating, but the metal absorbs the source.
“…Fuck”
-Day 200 of the search?
“Hey wait, didn’t he find the ring already?”
“Yes, and no. He knows the ring is in the cube, but that's no more help than knowing the ring was on the mountainside. He still can’t get the ring itself. Now, this is the last time you interrupt the story.”
“I was just asking a question…”
-Day 200 of the search.
Rev has made the vault his second hope in the last month or so. In that time he has tried to melt the cube, but his flames are not nearly hot enough for such things. He next tried to throw it at the walls. The shoot it with Charged Stone spears. He has put his down time to learning more about this source metal. He has spent much time in the garden with Cass as he teaches him about the twin gods. Rev didn’t agree to this, but Cass insisted if Rev wanted to keep using the vault that Rev must at least listen.
“Your knowledge is the twin gods are much greater than I spected with the way you tend to act. May I ask how you came to know so much?” Cass asks.
Rev sighs “Ein used to tell me stories as we went through the jungle”
“So it is true. I was told you traveled with Ein. What an honor it must have been.” Cass says.
“…That's what everyone tells me. Is that all for today, because I have a lot of work to do?” Rev responds.
“Yes, that all for today.” Cass tells Rev.
Rev gets up and heads towards the Library.
“I am not to question you twin god…but is this really child I saw in that vision?” Cass thinks to himself.
-Day 300 of the search.
Rev has grown frustrated with the cube. Not knowing where to go from here. Day after day. Failure after failure. He looks around the room hopelessly. Rev sighs as he looks at the ceiling covered in source inscription. “Why doesn’t it get absorbed into the metal?” Rev thinks. He reaches his hand to the wall he was told never to touch. He feels it. “Its…carved into the wall. Not by much, but I can feel it.” Rev thinks. He searches the room, tearing it apart in a search of such a devise capable of carving into the metal. Rev sits on the floor in a mess of his own creation. He rests his hand on the ground and accidental activities an art. He watches the source move through the wall. Rev dashes out of the way. A beam of light comes shooting at him. The beam is giving off an immense amount of heat. it his hitting the wall being him. He goes over to see little by little it melting the metal. “No wonder they never found a way to destroy the ring.” Rev thinks. He places the cube in front of the beam on a pedestal. “I wonder how long this is gonna take.” Rev thinks as he looks at the cube. Rev gives it more thought. Rev had thought of an idea a while ago, but it fell flat. He had thought of taking the source out of the metal. As he read, the more source the metal had, the stronger it was. If he just pulled it all out. Then it should be easy to open, but the pull that the metal had was so strong that even Rev could only pull out small pieces of source. Now, with the beam, there might be some hope. It wasn’t going to be a fast process, but at this point Rev couldn’t handle another day of messing with the cube to what seemed like no end. This was it, only a matter of time.
-Day 342 of the search.
It had been a while sense Rev had smiled, but he simply couldn’t help himself.
